Monday, July 28th Moon moves from its own sign of Cancer and crosses into Leo at 10:33 am CDT. As it jumps into Leo, it enters Magha nakshatra as well. Ketu and Pitr are enlivened, as well as karmic ties, the father and ancestors as well as a sense of authority. The symbol is a palaquin- being carried, lifted like a royal, and with some essence of special treatment, a demand for respect. Magha nakshatra reminds us to be gracious to the ancestors- we are indebted to them after all. The old adage, seven generations back and seven generations forward, reminds us that our actions have effects and we must heed to them. Take moments throughout your day to give gratitude to your ancestors, your lineage, no matter the challenges. Ask your ancestors for guidance and protection. Light a candle and bring in the light. Mercury moves from its own sign of Gemini into Cancer this evening at 18:58 CDT. He joins exalted Jupiter and Sun there; the push to accomplish may be over processed in the coming weeks. Your mental body will be trying to the run the show. Forcing an agenda? Putting too many irons in the fire? Worry and doubt? With Saturn and Ketu giving their drishti to these three planets as well, we get more emotional and heart/chest attention than we may desire. The work must be harmonizing for both expansion and contraction energies; ultimately we are working on balance. Notice where you are opening and where you are closing in your body and in your life. Use my new Moon/Emotional body MP3 for further harvesting. Tuesday, July 29th Moon continues to pass through Magha nakshatra today until 13:34 CDT when it moves into Purvaphalguni. The Phalguni stars are highly fertile, creative and fruit bearing- our ripening in other words. Bhaga rules over the front half of this constellation- Purva- and he is one of the twelve Adityas. The Adityas rule over resources in our lives- he dispenses wealth and happiness and since he is connected to the 9th house, he is also connected to luck, fortune and blessings from our past karmas. He also presides over love and marriage, particularly sex and sensuality within a relationship- the enjoyable parts; the latter half is more about what sustains a marriage, partnerships etc; the truly necessary parts of the equation. With the palpable creativity available in this nakshatra, ruled by both Bhaga and Venus, let your creativity and wealth flow today. Find the resources in your life and give your gratitude to them. Tell your relationships what they mean to you. Let love flow in and out of your heart. Even if it feels challenging, a bit forced or you feel neglected. One drop, that's all you need. Get by giving today. Share, create, enjoy. Just before midnight, Venus moves out of Ardra nakshatra and into Punarvasu. Aditi, and the Adityas (her twelve children), truly come alive! Nourishment and resources offer more potential and possibility at this time. Perhaps we will really feel the nourishment in the heart and our relationships as well. Let it be a balm for what ails you. Wednesday, July 30th Mercury moves into Pushya nakshatra at 10:57 am CDT, joining exalted Jupiter and Sun in Pushya as well. We get triple the nourishment! Pushya is ruled by Brihaspati (Jupiter deified) and the planet Saturn (who is exalted right now). Let the harmony of inhale and exhale, open and close, support your movements, your expansion goals, your physical, emotional and mental needs in the weeks to come. Soak in the abundance that is available to you as if it is a milk bath. And also take a milk bath! Use my new Moon/Emotional body MP3 for further harvesting. The majority of the day we continue to dance with Bhaga and Venus during Purvaphalguni. Let the themes from yesterday work their magic on you. Let your creativity continue to develop, gain awareness and find a new sense of abundance. As Moon moves into the later half of the Phalguni stars, UttaraPhalguni, at 16:31 CDT, we shift our focus to sustainability, the long haul, and what nourishes us for the distance. What do we need to fully utilize our creative potential? What feels necessary within our relationships and partnerships for them to offer satisfaction and harmony? Aryaman and the Sun bring a new layer of hope, a balm for the heart. He is also one of the twelve Adityas that offer resources for life and he does so through physical well being, strength in the body, and the things that long term committed relationships offer- support, stability, children, prosperity and the things that please the ancestors. Since the symbol for the Phalguni stars is a bed (front half and latter half) the metaphor "making your bed and lying in it" is truly applicable here. What type of bed do you sleep on? What kind of sheets do you use? How many pillows do you need to support your head? What direction does your bed face? Who sleeps with you? Or do you sleep alone? Do you make your bed each day or leave it disheveled? How much time do you spend in this restorative and supportive place? Let your bed be the speaker of truths and share its secrets with you. Moon moves to Virgo at 23:13 CDT, joining Rahu there, receiving direct gaze from Ketu. Thursday, July 31st Themes continue from yesterday as the majority of the day the Moon is still transiting through Uttarphalguni. Invite in the nourishment, support and sustenance. Where can a new drop be found? Where can another layer be shown to you? Who can become a gift to your heart today with their kindness? And what do you offer the world in return? This is the gift you wish to see in the world. Share, offer, guide and gift others with your true nature- abundance and light. As Moon sits with Rahu, the doubt and the anxiety may prevent the feeling of abundance from truly showing its light to us. Our experience is shrouded or in some instances, amplified and extra charged. Be a witness. Use a three level check in to harvest your inner knowing and identify what is. Then use this identification for further creative harvesting rather then letting it control you unconsciously. At 19:14 CDT, Moon moves into Hasta nakshatra, inviting in Savitr and the Moon into our awareness. Awakening is the theme and the offering of Hasta and Savitr. Not a full on burn from the Sun, but that delicate slice of light that gently arrives on the horizon line in the early hours of morning. It is silent and brave and filled with potential. That is Hasta and his gift to us. Watch the little sliver of light share its magic with you today. Let this light turn to wisdom and insight. The best gifts are shared, so remember to offer it some tea, invite it to stay a while, and ask it how you should best give this precious gift to others. With Rahu and Moon together right now in Virgo, ask yourself how you can share with the world in a bigger, grander way. Ask and you shall receive. Friday, August 1st The entire day is ruled by Hasta, the light of Savitr, and the silent awakening; potential. Seeds are beginning to germinate. Be sure to give them a soft, gentle shower, some fresh air and bit of sunshine in order to feed them properly. Listen carefully. Roots and shoots are spreading, growing, turning into something alive and awake. You are this tiny seed and you are growing a garden right now. Potential is everything. Go for the gold. Moon nears closer and closer to Rahu and our visions get bigger and bigger. Do they gain focus and grounding or lose it? Do we get lost in smoke and mirrors or can we traverse the illusions of grandeur with impeccable awareness? Work with your shadows, don't get lost in them. Use my new Moon/Emotional body MP3 for further harvesting. As the night takes over, Moon moves into Chitra nakshatra, enlivening Vishvakarma and Mars, joining Rahu in this nakshatra. We will be working with sparkle and shine, action and in-action tomorrow. Make sure you get your beauty rest. Dream about adornments, acts of service and great artistic feats. Avoid intoxication and actions that you will later regret. Saturday, August 2nd Moon and Rahu are in exact conjunction in the first half of the morning as Moon nears the edge of Virgo. Rise and shine or sleep in? Moon moves to Libra at 10:31 CDT, joining Mars and exalted Saturn here, but still in Chitra nakshatra. Our work with stops and starts amplifies. Surrender or force? Vishvakarma helps us build, plan, take action steps that give lasting results. Take a step today in the right direction and let it have a ripple effect on you and your outlook. Today is a good day to work with boundaries. Say no when you mean no and yes only when you mean yes. You can't please everyone, and shouldn't. Can you be firm in your needs by putting yourself first? It's not about being nasty or rude, just firm. That is often the most compassionate choice for all involved. As Moon nears Mars today, watch for getting hot around the collar. Be tactful and diplomatic, but avoid rash, angry decisions. For some this will be a very productive day. A three level check-in might be in order. What is coming up right now? Name it. Aim it. Claim it. Sun moves into Ashlesha nakshatra at 21:36 CDT. The triple nourishment of exalted Jupiter, Mercury and Sun all in Pushya nakshatra shifts now. Mercury is heightened as well as Sarpa, snake energy. Will deception, illusions and over confidence bring new learning, understanding and growth to us? Or will the ego build walls up around the heart so that we miss the truths of the times? The coming weeks will prove valuable for growth. Seek wisdom and awareness, not shadowed thinking- as you will miss the valuable memos if you aren't careful. Moon moves to Swati nakshatra at 23:19 CDT. Sunday, August 3rd Remember, this week only, get 15% off all my services and products. Today is the last day to take advantage of this offer. Use code WaxingMoon15 at checkout. Moon transits Swati nakshatra and is in exact conjunction with Mars at 14:43 CDT. The heat is on and it's being fanned by the winds of Vayu! Super charged and activated or super hot and bothered? Notice where your life is feeling burdened, slowed down, where you are forcing change and feeling like you are getting no where. That's the place that needs your surrender, not more force. Perhaps relationships are requiring strong boundaries. Use them. This is a practice run and Mars and Saturn are giving you ample opportunities to try your yes and no dynamics out. How is it going so far? Remember, one step at a time... Moon nears Saturn late in the evening and our surrender button is activated (or should be). Let Saturn's structure and need for stability rule your actions. Early to bed, nourishment through self care, and only focus on what matters. If you need to empty your head, write out your to-dos and next weeks goals in order to lighten your load and keep the wind from blowing your thoughts around too much. Calming practices will help keep the Vata in check. Abhyangha and warm bath might be in order for tonight. Don't forget a three level check in. Need some extra guidance and clarity for this coming year? Schedule a session with me. Plan your week in tune with nature. Never miss a Moon Mind post. Sign up for my weekly newsletter. Moon is waning this week. Saturn is now direct after months of retrograde motion. Forward momentum returns to our footsteps and helps the energy of the Mars/Saturn conjunction in Libra ease a bit more. New Moon (amavasya) is on Saturday the 26th. I hope you’ll join me for my new Moon celebration and workshop. Join my new Moon online celebration for some new Moon treats and find out more about my new Moon emotional body workshop!
Monday, July 21st Moon moves into Taurus and exalts just after midnight as Monday starts. Moon is exalted in Krittika nakshatra only until 5:58 am CDT and then goes into its mulitrikona placement after that; still a place where the Moon can express itself nicely and feels resilient and open. Moon receives drishti (gaze) from both Mars and Rahu here. This can offer us the ability to work with the emotional body in new and unusual ways since Rahu has newly entered Virgo and he is still in the gap (sandhi) in the 29 degree range. Anger may be a red hot resource for us as well. Don't negate its messages. We may feel our critical edge being tested, a bit grumpy or challenged as a result. We may also be working with themes of abundance, monetary wealth and our stability as a result (or lack thereof). Today may feel a bit hard and soft at the same time. How can this sense of polarity offer us insight into our needs and desires? Krittika nakshatra is ruled by Agni, the sacred fire god of life, transformation and change. We may begin to feel changes and shifts today in our emotional body as a result. How does this emotional shift effect your physical and mental body experiences as well? Tend to your heart fire today- your digestive fires, your life fires. Stoke the flames with small tinder and fan the flames gently, with compassion and gentleness. Moon moves to Rohini nakshatra at 19:21 CDT. Tuesday, July 22nd Today, I celebrate my 34th re-birth. Thank you all for your continued support and for growing and expanding with me and my dharmic work. This is the biggest gift a soul can ask for. You are one of my birthday gifts and I cherish you! Here's to another year of growth, vision, jyoti (light) and creative abundance. Sending my warmth and blessings to each of you! xo Moon continues in Taurus today and is in the auspicious lunar constellation of Rohini nakshatra. Ruled by lord Brahma, who created the entire universe from his navel, this nakshatra exemplifies the human potential- brimming with creativity and fulfillment of material desires. Goddess Saraswati is the consort of Brahma; she is our creative life force connected to music, the arts, knowledge and wisdom. This dynamic of Saraswati and Brahma together allows the sparks of creative potential to be acted upon and then materialized. Use both to capture the full offerings of this day. With Mars and Rahu's drishti still on the Moon, unusual and foreign creativity can be activated and cultivated today with new action steps. Dream big, think big, create big. Plant seeds with artistic actions and water these desires with thoughtful action steps. Dance, sing, paint, create today. Let the universe hear your heart songs and go for the gold. Let the heart swell and swim with the vastness of it. Moon is waning and we are turning our attention/intention inward now naturally. Tend to the inner senses and cultivate presence with your own fragility as we become fully empty. Now is a good time to start self tracking. Use the theme of letting go, releasing and emptiness for your personal inquiry. Join me for my new Moon online celebration where I will be sharing some creative rituals for this new Moon. All who join will be entered to win some new Moon gifts! Moon moves to Mrigashirsha nakshatra at 21:11 CDT. Wednesday, July 23rd Moon transits Mrigashirsha nakshatra and moves into Gemini at 10:15 am CDT joining Venus and Mercury there. Chandra (the Sanskrit name for the Moon) rules Mrigashirsha as well as the deity Soma, which is another name for the Moon personified. The planetary ruler here is Mars who connects to all earth and grounding matters, like soil and homes. It is the plants of the earth that offer us Soma, through their divine nectar, saps and juiciness. It is the Moon that fills the plants with sap. Thus the connections between Mars, Moon and Soma. Mrigashirsha is symbolic of growth, ojas, procreative powers and creative acts that give nourishment. Through foods, creative expression, with movement and change, as well as poignant action steps, seek nourishment today. Invite in Soma, the nectar of life and let the sap of life nourish and support you. Mercury moves into the latter half of Gemini and into Punarvasu nakshatra at 9:24 am CDT, inviting in another layer of nourishment with Aditi, the mother of Oneness and all goodness. She helps us expand, find nourishment through wisdom and acquire knowledge through experience. In the coming days, allow Aditi to nourish your mental body, to invite in awareness through life experiences, and let this wisdom nourish your actions, choices and direction. Moon moves to Ardra nakshatra at 23:24 CDT. Need some extra guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me. Thursday, July 24th Moon travels through Ardra nakshatra today and enlivens Rudra, the storm god, and the planet Rahu. Rudra is powerful- whether this power is used for change, movement and momentum or emotional upheaval and chaos, the essential element of his nature is destruction. Destruction is a necessary component of change. We must deconstruct before we can reconstruct, or construct anything for that matter. He is a vital part of our change process and helps us with our confrontation process as well. It is in this part of the change process that we usually get angry or have a strong emotional expression. This is when you know that you are onto something big- a big change. The bigger the emotion, the bigger the change. Be sure to use a three level check in today at least once in order to clearly identify the felt senses. Additionally, Jupiter and Sun are in exact degrees today, a very tight combustion (solar burn). The guru, teacher, is getting burned by the source of light, Sun. This can make for a "hot seat" which can be uncomfortable to say the least. Look for agitation and anger and inquire about where these emotions are coming from within you. What is the underlying need? On the other hand, this combination can be highly activating for teaching, sharing wisdom, insights and jyoti (light). Take an action step toward today with your gifts; sharing, offering, giving. Give gratitude to soften the overly activating energy of this combination. Let the emotional body have its way with you today. Moon in Gemini with Mercury and Venus, while Venus is simultaneously in Ardra as well, insures that relationships may be the focus of our emotional upheavals. We also have the opportunity to use creative resources and tools to maximize our awareness and the change factor. Take your emotions into painting, drawing, writing, dancing and sounding. Do not cut and paste over your feelings today or suppress them. They will only come out later down the road in more destructive ways. Use your feelings with intelligence today. Deconstruct, reconstruct, with awareness. Are you joining me for my new Moon celebration online and my new Moon workshop? Friday, July 25th Moon moves to Punarvasu nakshatra at 1:54 am CDT enlivening Aditi and Jupiter and offering us each a taste of expansion; the essence of experiential awareness if we choose to open and extend ourselves to it. The "mother of all goodness" brings with her a sense of universal oneness and our interconnectedness. Notice if there are moments in your day where this offering arrives. Moon moves into the 15th tithi, the final waning Moon phase, at 15:27 CDT, inviting in an empty cup. Are you joining me for my new Moon celebration online and my new Moon workshop? As Moon moves into its own sign of Cancer at 21:56 CDT, the senses shift as does our felt sense. Here, the Moon joins exalted Jupiter and Sun and receives drishti (gaze) from Saturn and Ketu. This combination could bring about mental/emotional exhaustion and a sense of "overdoing it". Be mindful through the weekend of when your emotional body tells you to stop, slow down, change directions, or make a shift somehow. Saturday, July 26th Moon is in its own sign of Cancer with Sun, and exalted Jupiter here as well. All receive drishti (gaze) from Saturn and Ketu. Moon moves into Pushya nakshatra at 4:38 am CDT. Be sure to join me for my new Moon workshop today at 12:00 CDT. Moon crosses over exalted Jupiter and conjoins Sun as it fully empties its light in the 15th and final tithi (Moon phase). New Moon is today in Cancer at 17:41 CDT while in Pushya nakshatra. Sun, Moon and exalted Jupiter are all in Pushya, the nourishing star at this time. This is a profoundly symbolic cosmic expression of what we are moving towards in the coming waxing cycle. The coming weeks offer a theme of finding increased nourishment. Knowing what this is, what it feels like, and how we cultivate its presence within ourselves and our lives is worthy of our attention and intention. Perhaps nourishment arrives with knowledge and wisdom, comforts and support, kindness and gratitude, increased synchronization of Nature and her rhythms. Perhaps it comes with the gentleness of the breath and taking in life more easefully. Take note of what you are opening to and the many ways and means that offer you nourishment and fulfillment in the coming cycle. What are you filling your cup with? What are you inviting into your being, into your life? Let the awareness of vitality and nourishment be your guide. Trust your emotional body to be your compass, your guide. Sunday, July 27th Mars moves into Swati nakshatra at 6:01 am CDT. Rahu and Vayu, the wind god, invite in a sense of urgency, movement and momentum. Don't get lost in the forced agenda of this combination. Mars is still conjunct exalted Saturn and it's important to head to his messages and desires for slow and steady action. Mars and Vayu have needs of swiftness and quickness. This can intensify frustrations, agitations and anger and cause us to act in imbalanced ways. If you notice yourself rushing, forcing, pushing for results, consider this your warning. It's a waste of your energy and will cause greater issues in the long run. Take action, but let Saturn lead the way with stability, focus, sustainability, timeliness and deep surrender. Moon moves into Ashlesha nakshatra at 7:32 am CDT, enlivening Sarpa and Mercury. Serpent energy slides into our lives today and is evoked through Nature. How can Sarpa offer some awakening and evoke our inner treasures? The serpent energy invites in transformation, awakening and change. The dark side of Sarpa is illusions and deceptions, very Rahu like shadows. We have some options though in how we use our serpent energy, and what we are evoking, invoking and inviting in. How do you want to use your serpent energy today? Mercury moves to the edge of its own sign Gemini and is poised for change, pushing into Cancer tomorrow, where it will join exalted Jupiter and Sun there. As Mercury moves to the edge of Gemini, the portal opens, inviting in a rare opportunity to unite mental body and emotional body. Be sure to take time to harvest this potential and listen carefully. What can be accomplished when mind and emotions unite and find a sense of harmony? Need some extra guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me. Plan your week in tune with Nature. Never miss my Moon Mind Calendar. Sign up for my newsletter. And if you like this post, please share it! Moon is waxing this week and transits through Cancer, Leo, Virgo and into Libra. The intensity of the changing planets builds. Rahu and Ketu are sandhi as they prepare to move signs on the 12th. Mercury is sandhi and retrograde (until the 1st) and at the edge of Gemini most of the week. Saturn is retrograde in his sign of exaltation (Libra), and is thus debilitated. The cushion comes from exalted Jupiter and Venus in its own sign of Taurus. Regardless, use precaution this week. Next week will come with its own set of warnings as Rahu and Mars conjunct. For now, be mindful of the emotional impact the nodes can have on us, as well as the delicate states of Mercury (mental body) and Saturn (physical body). Mind your mental body and your physical body this week and attend to anger, rigidity and over thinking.
Monday, June 30th Moon transits its own sign of Cancer with exalted Jupiter. Both receive gaze from a compromised Saturn. Moon moves into Ashlesha nakshatra at 1:18 am CDT. Sarpa and Mercury rule this nakshatra and activate themes of deception, illusion and overconfidence as serpent energy is apt to do. Sarpa is a small snake and connected to the north node, Rahu as a result of his serpent energy indicates. There is also a connection to wisdom (of the occult variety) and mysticism through Sarpa which can bring awakenings. Snakes medicine is all about transformation and regeneration. Today can offer a spectrum of possibilities from inner transformation and awakening to worldly advancement and changes. There may be illusions or delusions working their charms on us, so be mindful of what you are feeding your serpent self; your cravings and desires. Mental body will be trying to run the show today and spinning his usual stories of mayhem on auto pilot. Use this to inform your process, but don't let it run the show and drag you through the mud. Do a three level check in to see where you are in mind, body and emotions. Then take it into a poem or song. Let your words work some magic on you. Tuesday, July 1st Moon moves to Leo and into Magha nakshatra at 4:18 am CDT. Pitr and Ketu enliven at this time and bring about a day of change and transformation. Mercury goes direct at 7:46 am CDT. We may wake up feeling ready to take forward action- at least mentally. Clean up phase is complete for this round of Mercury retrograde and the mind starts thinking in a more linear way now. This may bring greater clarity to our life process and allow us to think more clearly about progress rather than all the steps we are retracing. Sometimes this can help us see where we need to get clearer and more focused with our personal agendas. However, Mercury is at the very edge of its own sign, Gemini, right now. We get the taste of mind in a harmonious sign, yet "weak" and in the gap simultaneously. This may make the clarity we get be very subtle and intuitive instead so listen up for the gentle messages that come. If you miss them, don't worry, they will get much louder in the coming weeks. But try to catch the memos before they start shouting. Read more about sandhi planets here. Today has a quick, fast and fierce kind of feel to it. Overwhelm or calamity may set in as a result. Make sure you are taking time to breathe and attend to your physical needs as our overdrive mechanisms might be kicking up. Anger and outbursts, eruptions and tantrums, are likely inside and out so listen carefully to the underlying messages. What is the need that is not being attended to? What are the changes in you that must be made to create less friction? Action abounds right now with the planets. Let this influence you and your awareness about change and transformation. Need some guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me. Wednesday, July 2nd Moon moves to PurvaPhalguni at 7:20 am CDT. Bhaga and Venus rule the day. Bhaga brings us resources as he's an Aditya, and can offer a sense of wealth and happiness. Changes continue today, but we start to see and feel the silver lining. Let expansion be your guide and fill the spaces in your life with possibility and purpose. Grow to your edges and let nourishment support you. Let fluidity be a reminder and soften into your edges (especially from the mental body). Dream, day dream, and think big. Use watercolors to paint your dreams into reality. Appease the mental body by making a list of your action steps in the coming weeks and how they get you to the next big goal. You don't have to have it all figured out to take some steps forward. Plan your week in tune with Nature. Never miss my Moon Mind Calendar. Sign up for my newsletter. Thursday, July 3rd Moon moves to UttaraPhalguni at 10:12 am CDT. Sun and Aryaman help us find sustenance and endurance today. Think in terms of the big picture and the long haul in order to maximize your visions for expansion. Think big, but make sure you are thinking sustainably. What are the pieces that need to be put into place in order for your visions to take root? Get practical and be wise about your success. If you want to re-create your life, today's the day to plant some seeds of desire. Water them with clear actions and doable time frames. Ask for support and help from trustworthy resources and set up a cheer leading squad for encouragement along the way. The details might get more clear after 16:52 CDT, once Moon moves into Virgo and joins Mars there. “If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” - Frances Hodgson Burnett Friday, July 4th Exalted Jupiter moves into Pushya nakshatra at 8:11 am CDT. Let the nourishment begin! We may feel this as a turning point in our exalted Jupiter experience. Read the details in my exalted Jupiter article, part 2. Moon transits Virgo with Mars and moves into Hasta nakshatra at 12:42 CDT. Heat, action, fire and agendas enliven. Feeling it yet? The warrior energy of Mars is not a thinker, he's a doer. Are you being led astray today by auto pilot or are you just working efficiently and effectively? Take ample breaks. Hit the pause button and breath, stretch and get some fresh air. Savitr will allow us to experience some awakening today, but we must create room for it to arrive. In your quiet moments, repeat Gayatri mantra for assistance. Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ tát savitúr váreṇ(i)yaṃ bhárgo devásya dhīmahi dhíyo yó naḥ pracodáyāt Saturday, July 5th Moon stays in Hasta the majority of the day, but nears Mars in the process. Yesterday's reminders still hold true, however the silence of Saturday (Saturn) may help us get to the core of the matter for effectively and efficiently. Hit pause intentionally today and cultivate some inner awareness with your emotions and actions. Let your foot off the gas and put it in neutral. Not feeling the ease? Consciously remove pieces off your plate and lighten your load. Heat, both inner and outer, is maximized as Moon and Mars conjoin, so take this into consideration as emotions intensify. Find moments to do a three level check in and use them for your creative process. If you need extra support with your action steps, use my Mars Legs/Feet MP3 for insights and harvesting. Moon moves into Chitra nakshatra at 14:39 CDT as it nears Mars. Chitra is ruled by Vishvakarma and Mars, so activation, action, and passion are enlivened on several levels as a result. Vishvakarma is the divine architect, "author of a thousand arts", and is associated with work and production. He is an Aditya and thus connected to resources and assistance. Vishvakarma is an incarnation of Lord Brahma, so his innate creativity is clearly connected to his offerings. This might be a good day to get busy and stay out of the frying pot! Finish up loose ends, projects that have been incomplete for weeks or months and find closure through production and creation processes. Nothing feels more gratifying than completing a task! If you are feeling particularly angry or agitated, take this into your work. See if you can't "work through it" on some level. Moon and Mars in exact conjunction at 20:29 CDT. Sun moves to Punarvasu nakshatra at 23:13 CDT. Aditi (mother of Oneness and all good) may offer a smoothing of any ruffled feathers during the previous days. As Sun moves into this nakshatra, the coming days will offer a sweeter harvesting of our emotional upheavals- giving purpose, power and poignancy to the process. Stay with it. Need some guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me. Sunday, July 6th Moon moves to Libra at 3:21 am CDT offering yet another layer of peace and nurturing. Libra is the peace maker in many senses- offering us balance and the ability to "weigh and measure" our options. At it's best, Libra offers us balance and greater awareness in the process. At its worst, it offers confusion, indecisiveness or excessive fakery and pretending. Moon crosses sandhi Rahu here while most of us will still be sleeping (around 4am CDT) which may prevent our "eclipsed" natures to derail us. (Those on the other side of the world, take note.) However, Rahu and Saturn are still in Libra for another eight days, which means stormy weather, movement and changes of the Rudra variety are still applicable. Let the winds blow around you, while being present to your inner compass. Moon moves to Swati nakshatra at 15:53 CDT and the winds intensify. Vayu and Rahu pick up the pace and increase themes of momentum, change, movement and Vata imbalances. Make sure you attend to your "inner winds", or prana today. Get outside and move the body in order to get out of the mental body turmoil, spin and overwhelm. Get embodied. The tendency is to be disconnected from emotions during Swati nakshatra. Are you cutting and pasting over them? Emotional bypassing? Be sure to create room for the emotions and invite them in to your awareness today. Stay connected with a three level check in. Then use it for your movement practice by taking this into dance and somatic navigation. My Mars Legs/Feet MP3 is a great resource for this. Plan your week in tune with Nature. Never miss my Moon Mind Calendar. Sign up for my newsletter. And if you like this post, please share it! Exalted Jupiter: A good thing? Or too much of a good thing? {Part 1}
Who is Jupiter and why does he matter? Jupiter (or guru in Sanskrit) is undeniably the most benefic planet. And though too much of a good thing is a real thing, most of us welcome his gracious behaviors at every turn. He is expansive, unlike Saturn who contracts. He wants peace, whereas Mars wants action and war. He brings knowledge and wisdom, learning from the scriptures, from teachers and from the grace of the guru. These are divine blessings indeed! Jupiter also relates to akasha (the space/ether element) and is therefore all-pervasive. He offers that level of expansion, the ever growing kind. The presence of Jupiter is peaceful, benevolent and he would rather win over his opponents with goodness, nonviolence and prayers, rather than fight, ruffle feathers or use violence of any kind. These are traits our society could use a lot more of these days. Fortunately for us, we will be seeing these blessings of Jupiter increase over the next twelve months as he moves to Cancer, his sign of exaltation, on June 18th. And since we haven't seen this transit occur in over twelve years (since 2003), we can each expect a unique boost in the coming months. (Jupiter's transits are roughly one year each and there are twelve signs in the zodiac, thus it takes twelve years for his full cycle around the zodiac). No matter the type of expansion and increase, for most of us, this will be of the delightful variety. Jupiter is of course connected to luck, grace, blessings, wealth as he is known for his generosity and giving. It is through sattva, purity, that Jupiter gives his blessings; all things pure like dharma, truth, and the light of pure knowledge. As devaguru (teacher to the gods) he guides us to the higher realms and empowers the positive tendencies of the mind. He has the ability to transform the asuras (demons) within us with his pure and persuasive wisdom. As the Mundaka Upanishads state so aptly, Satyameva Jayate, truth alone triumphs. What Can We Expect From Jupiter's Exaltation This Year? Each transit is very much an individual experience as each jyotish chart is a unique, highly complex organism (as expressed in each unique individual on the planet!) And though Jupiter's exaltation will effect us each in very different ways, there are some unified experiences that will be felt for us as a whole. It is important to note though that even something like expanding wisdom and knowledge, is not always comfortable- especially if it makes your old ways and habits obsolete and highly uncomfortable. For others, Jupiter's exaltation may provide too much support, and may cause issues as a result. We all know that even winning the lottery has multiple down sides and too much sugar rots your teeth and gut. Wherever Jupiter shows up there is increase and expansion. He encourages that growth as any good teacher would. If he sits with Venus, creativity and relationships tend to prove helpful and expansive. If he sits with Mercury, writing, mental growth and communication are given wisdom for increased success. Issues arise, however, when Jupiter sits with Rahu. Rahu, the north node/shadow planet and Mr. Mischief, ruins Jupiter's spiritual leanings and pristine tendencies. Rahu is chaos and deception whereas Jupiter is truth and honesty. Their energies oppose each other. Look at your chart to see what values might increase in the coming months for you based on what planets Jupiter is connected to in your natal chart. When looking at your own chart, first locate the sign of Cancer. This is where Jupiter will be effecting you the most intensely over the coming months. What house is Cancer in and do you have any natal planets there that will effect the transit as well? Will he be transiting your first house? Expect a spectrum of increased self wisdom, personal growth and people to notice this. Is he transiting your tenth house? He will offer extra support and expansion with your career whether you want it or not! And since all of us are working with the theme of balance right now as Saturn and Rahu transit Libra, the increases of exalted Jupiter will provide yet another opportunity for each of us to achieve some new sense of personal balance and harmony as a result of all the extra comfort, support, expansion etc. And that is indeed a good thing! Cancer is a sign of heart and emotion. It is connected to the fourth house and therefore is connected to all matters of the fourth house as well. This includes land, home, heart, mother, emotions, moksha, happiness, heart, lungs and the chest. When Jupiter exalts here he amplifies these parts of ourselves and can provide us with support in these areas. But because Jupiter is also Kapha, heavy, and connected to the lubrication within the body's channels, we also have to be mindful of the "too much of a good thing" reminder on a physical level as well. Too much dairy, can cause excess phlegm or excess kapha dosha. Too much fat can clog the arteries and channels that lead to the heart. Excess phlegm in the lungs can cause a chest cold or pneumonia. These are excesses to be aware of during this transit. It is interesting to note that the emotions and the heart play a predominant role in our health and well being. Since Cancer is also ruled by the Moon (Cancer is its own sign), many themes connected to emotional health and well being will be enlivened this year. With Jupiter in Cancer, we will each have an opportunity to grow emotionally, expand our heart and emotional capacity, and to find a new inner wisdom with the emotional body- if we choose to listen and expand in this direction. This is an exciting idea for moon-centered beings like myself! The overall experience of Jupiter is progressive, forward moving, expansive and supportive. There will be about four months where he retrogrades (an exalted planet in retrograde motion is considered debilitated) and this will be a time period of "emotional cleanup" we could say. Since all the major planets are moving this year, we are in for growth and change on multiple levels. Jupiter moves June 18th, followed by the shadow nodes, Rahu and Ketu July 12th. We still are working with an unusual dance of retrograde and direct Mars moving between Virgo and Libra until September. Finally, we will see perhaps the most major shift of all occur when Saturn moves to Scorpio November 2nd. The planets remind us that life is in constant flux and flow, and life changes are inevitable- which is why I'm offering Creative Ritual workshops to help us navigate the transits. My exalted Jupiter workshop is all about navigating our emotions and the physical correlations of this transit while using Jyotish insights to further our embodiment process. Explore this exalted Jupiter workshop. I address the finer details of Jupiter's transit with regard to some of these other transits, as well as the nakshatras he will be transiting, in the second half of my Exalted Jupiter article. Read it here. Wondering what the tendencies of exalted Jupiter and these other planetary changes will be for you? Schedule a yearly progression with me. The beginning of the week, Moon is in its last three tithis of Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) before it is full (purnima) and then begins its Krishna Paksha phase (waning) mid week. Moon transits Gemini, Cancer and into Leo this week.
Moon will be at its fullest point on 1.15 at 22:51 CST while in Cancer (Full Moon). It will have just entered Cancer and will be slightly sandhi (in the gap) in Punarvasu nakshatra. Punarvasu is ruled by Aditi, the universal mother of goodness and expansion of consciousness, as well as the planet Jupiter. In the coming weeks, expect some new assistance to be coming to you, helping with your overall expansion, fulfillment and desires for change. Aditi brings us nourishment, protection and abundance- the offerings of a kind and loving mother. For a jyotish Moon-centered approach to your day, follow my daily Moon Mind posts via Face Book. Mars makes a shift on 1.14, moving from Hasta nakshatra (ruled by Savitr, expansion of consciousness) to Chitra- ruled by Vishvakarma and the planet Mars. Vishvakarma is the "celestial architect" and brings us his divine building skills. Whereas Hasta prepares us mentally and creatively, Chitra puts the plans into action and brings visions into reality. The symbol for Chitra is a shining jewel which exemplifies the fruits of our labors being powerful and directly relates to the ornamentation this nakshatra adores. Resources come with Chitra as well as much creativity as its connected to artisans and those who manifest their visions into reality. Mars will be a prominent player in the many "planetary dances" of 2014. All the major planets will be changing signs this year (expect an article on this) while Mars moves between Virgo and Libra until September with some unusual movements- directly effecting our "action" steps. Use this time to start building your empire. Sun makes a sign change from Sagittarius into Capricorn on 1.14 at 01:19 am CST. This marks an important movement towards a more auspicious time of year (spring and a time of growth) in the Vedic calendar. This day of the Sun's movement into Capricorn is named Makar Sankranti. Interestingly, unlike the majority of Vedic celebrations which are calculated by the placement of the Moon, this celebration is calculated by the position of the Sun. Sun is connected to father, knowledge, power, the Soul and the light within. As Sun will be in transition and considered sandhi (in the gap/the in between realms) until Thursday we may notice a slow start to the week as well as some frustrations with our action steps. Thinking vs. doing might be in a tug of war. Get organized and be methodical in your approach to work and your own shining. Sun is pleasant to Capricorn, and Sun and Mercury (also in Capricorn currently) work efficiently together. Play your cards right (intention, good deeds, abiding by Natural Laws, using good character and good will) and progress will be made in the coming weeks. This is a powerful time to set intentions and goals for the 2014 in order to have a rich harvest. Perhaps the most noteworthy change of the week comes via Jupiter. His retrograde movements have been pushing him back into the belly of Gemini giving us ample opportunities to re-evaluate, re-calculate, re-communicate, re-assess- with creativity, action steps, effort, courage, mental processing and the like. He has been moving through Punarvasu nakshatra (ruled by Aditi- mother of nourishment as stated above) and then began his retrograde movement (which has kept him in Punarvasu) since 9.1 of last year. The theme for many months has been a general trend of "nourishment" and support which has provided many of us with some new underlying sense of stability and growth. This week there is a shift as retrograde Jupiter moves back into Ardra nakshatra for the next few Months. Jupiter goes direct on 3.6 but then must re-trace his steps in forward motion through Ardra until he steps once again into Punarvasu on 4.24. The next 3.5 months of Jupiter's movements through Ardra nakshatra will bring trends of expansion of a different kind. Whereas Aditi has provided a lasting type of assistance and expansion, Ardra is ruled by Rahu and Rudra energy. There is great power and momentum available with this nakshatra, however it is more worldly and destructive. The symbol is a teardrop and perspiration which points to both extreme emotion (especially anger) as well as effort. Rudra is storm energy which can be harnessed for grande movement, epic changes, travels and moves in general (think harnessing storm winds or sails used for powering ships) while the Rahu rulership of this nakshatra elicits worldly motivations, directions and desires. A powerful position for expansion in a different direction. While there is possibility for calamity, chaos and misery, there is also great potential for monetary gains, new fame and notoriety, worldly desires manifesting, and great changes to transpire- moving us forward towards goals and aspirations. Specifically we may notice cravings and shadows develop with regard to our relationships- business, friendships, romantic and how and who we relate. A note of caution is necessary as we will be dealing with shadows and the veil of illusions in general; be mindful of your intentions, motivations and purpose. Are they aligned with a higher purpose? Natural Laws? Beneficial to others as well as your Self? Greatest support and sustainability will come when our actions are aligned with the greater good. Putting some effort into our shadow Self, the illusions of life and being aware that the serpent energy will be alive and well as a learning lesson, can help put this time period into perspective. Read more about this movement of Jupiter and his transit through Gemini here. You can also check your Moon and Sun signs for further insight. Do the same with your Navamsa signs for further clarity. Do not use these horoscopes with your “Western Sign” as there is likely no correlation. These horoscopes are meant to be used as a broad overview of the current transits and obviously do not address the specifics of an individual’s unique chart. Aries: Use mental courage with career and what may feel like initial setbacks. Trust that the outcome will prove valuable and provide forward momentum in the long run. You are getting a chance for increased comfort, support and nourishment right now. Celebrate your gains but watch for relationship tests and lessons- especially in the coming weeks. The courage you have been cultivating recently will be required for boundaries and clearly stating your needs. Don't put up with sharks, but try not to become one either. Taurus: Take in new knowledge and guidance for increased comfort and support. Don't get over powered by ego and big personalities. You should be able to see through that by now. Trust your gut instincts. You are still digesting rocks and must watch your diet- avoid overly rajasic and heavy foods. Keep it simple and fresh. Meditation is an excellent use of your time. This is a period of purging and letting go of old relationships and people/things that don't bring lasting comfort and support. Start a rummage pile. Gemini: Relationships continue to provide expansion, awareness, and growth as you re-trace your steps, going over very old, familiar territory. Perhaps it is helping your career, but feeling bittersweet in other ways. As Sun moves to your eighth house, courage may be in hiding for the coming weeks. Use this opportunity to gain a fresh perspective, to dig deep into your past for insights- but don't get taken advantage of while you sit on the bench thinking things through. Start working with your shadows and illusions, you'll need the insights once your Sun emerges from its hiding place. Cancer: Full Moon in Cancer this week gives you a moment of glow, inspiration and new awareness. You need courage right now to deal with friendships that may feel more like enemies- aka frenimies. Boundaries and intuition will prove useful for being clear about needs and wants; take affirmative action to protect your Self. Relationships will either help or hurt your forward momentum with career, home and heart; be intentional with your motives. What pieces are you missing? Gain clues this week into finding new and more harmonious ways to co-exist. Leo: Use your efforts to courageously power forward and harness the changing winds for a new direction. You are in a digestion phase which will prove useful to assimilate and integrate pieces of your Self and your ego. The insights will prove valuable for finding clarity and increased comfort and support. Speak your needs/wants and make sure your relationships are aligned with these. Use intuition and creativity to dive deep. Turn these golden nuggets into new offerings with career and artistry. Listen to your gut. Virgo: Cleaning and clearing the heart is a good use of your efforts and time right now. Art may prove a powerful resource for this. Check in with emotions- especially anger. There is great power here and a need to roar and find your voice. Connect your career with education, learning, creativity and childlike wisdom. Remember when you were a child? What pieces were missing and what do you still need for wholeness? Cultivate that presence and awareness now and focus on getting the nourishment and support that was missing from your early childhood. This will prove valuable with regard to relationships and emotions. Libra: The heart doesn't lie. What is the emotional residue that remains- keeping you from trusting and embracing relationships fully? As the losses continue to feel like they are piling up, check in with anger and the mental/emotional balance within; try to recalibrate. Courage with relationships is necessary right now as well as your creativity and artistry. There is great ability to learn and grow with these tools however so keep moving towards possible gains. Meditation will help cultivate more presence with your mental/emotional bodies so don't neglect your spiritual practices. Scorpio: Watch what goes in and out of your mouth right now. You may be having a reaction to relationships and mental/emotional issues. Your courage is in transformation while intuition and digestion seem to be working in reverse- causing some upsets. Watch for flare ups and indigestion. Get support on some of the old issues that may be creeping back in and don't neglect the red flags along the way. You have a chance to make some lasting changes right now so listen up and face the facts. Who and what angers you and robs you of your power? Sagittarius: Some tension exists between you and your career. Losing your momentum and desire? Friction with relations at work and with friends? This is a chance for you to work on your emotions- especially your needs. What type of support and comfort do you need and who do you need it from? Try to get clear on needs and wants in order to lessen the tension. This may be about your boundaries and speaking directly to others about what you are willing to offer and what is beyond your comfort zone. Speak up. Capricorn: Sun moves to your first house this week, moving you out of some reclusive months of introspection and hiding. The lights are turning back on. What will you do with your new vision, power and momentum? There's a lot flickering in your heart fire and still much cleanup and transformation with relationships in general. Career fluctuations and changes continue; align with older and established enterprises for more sustainability and support. The notoriety will come when your feet are more firmly planted. Aquarius: As Sun moves into Capricorn this week, you move into a month of hiding, regeneration, transformation and endings. Don't worry, this can be a metamorphosis that brings renewal on the other side. Use this time for strengthening intuition and digestion; the mind/body connection. You continue to work on themes involving relationships, lessons with your heart and emotions, home and mother as well as siblings and friendships. Though courage feels hard to find at times, keep stepping- one foot at a time. Pisces: As you continue to clean up the residue within your heart, much of the current relationship woes will mend themselves. There's a general restructuring happening around relationships- most appear to be effecting career and work agendas as well as your courage and creativity. Use this time to digest and process the gains and setbacks you've been experiencing with strong personalities and your own passion. Rewind. What pieces of that passion are alive and well within you? What passion is being stoked within you as a result of these encounters? Anger is powerful, so use it for forward momentum and gain. Don't stuff it. |
