Moon is waxing this week and transits through Cancer, Leo, Virgo and into Libra. The intensity of the changing planets builds. Rahu and Ketu are sandhi as they prepare to move signs on the 12th. Mercury is sandhi and retrograde (until the 1st) and at the edge of Gemini most of the week. Saturn is retrograde in his sign of exaltation (Libra), and is thus debilitated. The cushion comes from exalted Jupiter and Venus in its own sign of Taurus. Regardless, use precaution this week. Next week will come with its own set of warnings as Rahu and Mars conjunct. For now, be mindful of the emotional impact the nodes can have on us, as well as the delicate states of Mercury (mental body) and Saturn (physical body). Mind your mental body and your physical body this week and attend to anger, rigidity and over thinking.
Monday, June 30th Moon transits its own sign of Cancer with exalted Jupiter. Both receive gaze from a compromised Saturn. Moon moves into Ashlesha nakshatra at 1:18 am CDT. Sarpa and Mercury rule this nakshatra and activate themes of deception, illusion and overconfidence as serpent energy is apt to do. Sarpa is a small snake and connected to the north node, Rahu as a result of his serpent energy indicates. There is also a connection to wisdom (of the occult variety) and mysticism through Sarpa which can bring awakenings. Snakes medicine is all about transformation and regeneration. Today can offer a spectrum of possibilities from inner transformation and awakening to worldly advancement and changes. There may be illusions or delusions working their charms on us, so be mindful of what you are feeding your serpent self; your cravings and desires. Mental body will be trying to run the show today and spinning his usual stories of mayhem on auto pilot. Use this to inform your process, but don't let it run the show and drag you through the mud. Do a three level check in to see where you are in mind, body and emotions. Then take it into a poem or song. Let your words work some magic on you. Tuesday, July 1st Moon moves to Leo and into Magha nakshatra at 4:18 am CDT. Pitr and Ketu enliven at this time and bring about a day of change and transformation. Mercury goes direct at 7:46 am CDT. We may wake up feeling ready to take forward action- at least mentally. Clean up phase is complete for this round of Mercury retrograde and the mind starts thinking in a more linear way now. This may bring greater clarity to our life process and allow us to think more clearly about progress rather than all the steps we are retracing. Sometimes this can help us see where we need to get clearer and more focused with our personal agendas. However, Mercury is at the very edge of its own sign, Gemini, right now. We get the taste of mind in a harmonious sign, yet "weak" and in the gap simultaneously. This may make the clarity we get be very subtle and intuitive instead so listen up for the gentle messages that come. If you miss them, don't worry, they will get much louder in the coming weeks. But try to catch the memos before they start shouting. Read more about sandhi planets here. Today has a quick, fast and fierce kind of feel to it. Overwhelm or calamity may set in as a result. Make sure you are taking time to breathe and attend to your physical needs as our overdrive mechanisms might be kicking up. Anger and outbursts, eruptions and tantrums, are likely inside and out so listen carefully to the underlying messages. What is the need that is not being attended to? What are the changes in you that must be made to create less friction? Action abounds right now with the planets. Let this influence you and your awareness about change and transformation. Need some guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me. Wednesday, July 2nd Moon moves to PurvaPhalguni at 7:20 am CDT. Bhaga and Venus rule the day. Bhaga brings us resources as he's an Aditya, and can offer a sense of wealth and happiness. Changes continue today, but we start to see and feel the silver lining. Let expansion be your guide and fill the spaces in your life with possibility and purpose. Grow to your edges and let nourishment support you. Let fluidity be a reminder and soften into your edges (especially from the mental body). Dream, day dream, and think big. Use watercolors to paint your dreams into reality. Appease the mental body by making a list of your action steps in the coming weeks and how they get you to the next big goal. You don't have to have it all figured out to take some steps forward. Plan your week in tune with Nature. Never miss my Moon Mind Calendar. Sign up for my newsletter. Thursday, July 3rd Moon moves to UttaraPhalguni at 10:12 am CDT. Sun and Aryaman help us find sustenance and endurance today. Think in terms of the big picture and the long haul in order to maximize your visions for expansion. Think big, but make sure you are thinking sustainably. What are the pieces that need to be put into place in order for your visions to take root? Get practical and be wise about your success. If you want to re-create your life, today's the day to plant some seeds of desire. Water them with clear actions and doable time frames. Ask for support and help from trustworthy resources and set up a cheer leading squad for encouragement along the way. The details might get more clear after 16:52 CDT, once Moon moves into Virgo and joins Mars there. “If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” - Frances Hodgson Burnett Friday, July 4th Exalted Jupiter moves into Pushya nakshatra at 8:11 am CDT. Let the nourishment begin! We may feel this as a turning point in our exalted Jupiter experience. Read the details in my exalted Jupiter article, part 2. Moon transits Virgo with Mars and moves into Hasta nakshatra at 12:42 CDT. Heat, action, fire and agendas enliven. Feeling it yet? The warrior energy of Mars is not a thinker, he's a doer. Are you being led astray today by auto pilot or are you just working efficiently and effectively? Take ample breaks. Hit the pause button and breath, stretch and get some fresh air. Savitr will allow us to experience some awakening today, but we must create room for it to arrive. In your quiet moments, repeat Gayatri mantra for assistance. Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ tát savitúr váreṇ(i)yaṃ bhárgo devásya dhīmahi dhíyo yó naḥ pracodáyāt Saturday, July 5th Moon stays in Hasta the majority of the day, but nears Mars in the process. Yesterday's reminders still hold true, however the silence of Saturday (Saturn) may help us get to the core of the matter for effectively and efficiently. Hit pause intentionally today and cultivate some inner awareness with your emotions and actions. Let your foot off the gas and put it in neutral. Not feeling the ease? Consciously remove pieces off your plate and lighten your load. Heat, both inner and outer, is maximized as Moon and Mars conjoin, so take this into consideration as emotions intensify. Find moments to do a three level check in and use them for your creative process. If you need extra support with your action steps, use my Mars Legs/Feet MP3 for insights and harvesting. Moon moves into Chitra nakshatra at 14:39 CDT as it nears Mars. Chitra is ruled by Vishvakarma and Mars, so activation, action, and passion are enlivened on several levels as a result. Vishvakarma is the divine architect, "author of a thousand arts", and is associated with work and production. He is an Aditya and thus connected to resources and assistance. Vishvakarma is an incarnation of Lord Brahma, so his innate creativity is clearly connected to his offerings. This might be a good day to get busy and stay out of the frying pot! Finish up loose ends, projects that have been incomplete for weeks or months and find closure through production and creation processes. Nothing feels more gratifying than completing a task! If you are feeling particularly angry or agitated, take this into your work. See if you can't "work through it" on some level. Moon and Mars in exact conjunction at 20:29 CDT. Sun moves to Punarvasu nakshatra at 23:13 CDT. Aditi (mother of Oneness and all good) may offer a smoothing of any ruffled feathers during the previous days. As Sun moves into this nakshatra, the coming days will offer a sweeter harvesting of our emotional upheavals- giving purpose, power and poignancy to the process. Stay with it. Need some guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me. Sunday, July 6th Moon moves to Libra at 3:21 am CDT offering yet another layer of peace and nurturing. Libra is the peace maker in many senses- offering us balance and the ability to "weigh and measure" our options. At it's best, Libra offers us balance and greater awareness in the process. At its worst, it offers confusion, indecisiveness or excessive fakery and pretending. Moon crosses sandhi Rahu here while most of us will still be sleeping (around 4am CDT) which may prevent our "eclipsed" natures to derail us. (Those on the other side of the world, take note.) However, Rahu and Saturn are still in Libra for another eight days, which means stormy weather, movement and changes of the Rudra variety are still applicable. Let the winds blow around you, while being present to your inner compass. Moon moves to Swati nakshatra at 15:53 CDT and the winds intensify. Vayu and Rahu pick up the pace and increase themes of momentum, change, movement and Vata imbalances. Make sure you attend to your "inner winds", or prana today. Get outside and move the body in order to get out of the mental body turmoil, spin and overwhelm. Get embodied. The tendency is to be disconnected from emotions during Swati nakshatra. Are you cutting and pasting over them? Emotional bypassing? Be sure to create room for the emotions and invite them in to your awareness today. Stay connected with a three level check in. Then use it for your movement practice by taking this into dance and somatic navigation. My Mars Legs/Feet MP3 is a great resource for this. Plan your week in tune with Nature. New Moon Details: New Moon is Friday, June 27th at 3:08 am CDT while Moon is in Gemini and Ardra nakshatra. Ruled by Rudra and Rahu, Ardra nakshatra brings with it a certain intensity- whether through the emotions or through physical movement and change; think forcefulness. Rudra is connected to storms, storm energy, as well as prana as he is the father of the Maruts, or inner winds. Externally he manifests as a storm god; internally he manifests as the five types of Prana within the body. Harnessing the winds can be powerful for inner change or outer change. His association with anger and intense emotion is an example of his abilities with power. Anger after all is extremely powerful and is a form of passion and strength. How will you use this strength in the coming cycle? This New Moon is not the silent, soft and quiet kind. For there is immense power available to us at this time. It is quiet and inward as any empty new Moon is, yet be mindful of the power available within this silence. What are you creating? Cultivating? And inviting in at this time? What is your relationship to the inner and outer winds? For the coming waxing cycle, use meditation, pranayama and yoga to get the inner prana moving. As the Moon fills, attend to the needs of the inner winds. Emotional well being is intimately related to physical well being. Use this coming cycle to attend to your inner dynamics. Work with emotions directly and note where the challenges arrive. Are you attending to your needs? Letting the mind run the show? Bypassing the emotions? Does the body have a message for you that you have been neglecting to listen to? Listen closely for clues and your inner wisdom. I will be starting an Emotional Body series in July so stay tuned for tips and resources. Start your inner work with a three level check in for greater awareness. The coming full Moon is the most auspicious of the year! Guru Purnima happens on July 11th. This full moon will be particularly powerful as Rahu and Ketu change signs after 18 months in Libra and Ketu respectively, just hours after the fullest full Moon of the year. Following this transition Rahu and Mars will be in exact conjunction and then Venus and Sun change signs within days. This is an exciting time- poised for change and explosive energy. I will be sharing more about this in my next Horoscope post and also in my upcoming weekly Moon Mind Calendar. Planetary transit report is now included in my weekly Moon Mind Calendar. Don't miss a post, sign up for my newsletter. Need some guidance and clarity for this coming year? Schedule a session with me. *New Moon Chart Horoscopes:
*Horoscopes are based on your Vedic rising sign. You can also check your Moon and Sun signs for further insight. Do the same with your Navamsa signs for further clarity. Do not use these horoscopes with your “Western Sign” as there is likely no correlation. These horoscopes are meant to be used as a broad overview of the current transits and obviously do not address the specifics of an individual’s unique chart. Aries: A certain level of comfort and support seems to be stabilizing now. Take stock of the changes and make notes about what feels nourishing and satisfying in your life. More of this! With this new sense of support, start thinking of ways you can give back- to your Self and others. As Rahu and Ketu move, you will be doing more inner work, healing and also needing retreat time. Plant those seeds now. In this waxing Moon phase, get creative. Work with the hands, the arts, singing, heart and emotions. Relationships insist on your attention. Taurus: With Venus still in your 1st house, it might be feeling like the summer of love is happening inside and out. You are inviting in the new, but there's some hesitancy and uncertainty lingering. Clean up continues from inside out as you navigate your intuitive, gut instincts. Scour your innards and be present to the power of your words and what you ingest. This impacts your level of comfort, security and support which you are getting more clarity about right now. Boundaries anyone? It takes courage to get clear and focused on what you need and what you don't. Go there. As Rahu and Ketu shift, your courage with this heightens. Gemini: Creative curve balls and creative edge, you are dancing at your ledge. Precision, focus and certainty. Or is it uncertainty? It feels like you are being presented with the same old same old- only this time, you are noticeably different. Have you noticed? New options and opportunities are on the rise and there's some fear and anxiety that comes with it. Be clear on what you deserve and what you need to support and sustain your self; all that comforts, nourishes and supports you. Do not settle for less. The new cycle of Rahu and Ketu bring guaranteed career shifts. Are you ready for a new chapter? Cancer: You haven't quite come out of your shell yet, even with Jupiter now exalted in your 1st house, but you tend to be cautious in your action steps normally. Clean up in the heart continues as the planets push you to look at your Self with a very microscopic and critical lens. The padding is around you right now, though, through friends and your surroundings, which helps your own blows to the head and heart. Don't keep walking in the same old shoes around the same old ground with your doubting mind. It's a waste of time and energy. Cut your losses because what you're really doing right now is making space for the new adventures on the horizon and a new sense of passion. Clear and purge. Clear and purge. Leo: Creativity, flow and more stability is being presented through career. It's helpful to your heart and pocketbook, and cultivates a sense of passion within you for expansion and greatness. Your laser focus proves to be a boon right now, so use it for clarity with what you want in your life. Aim, action, fire! This clarity is coming with courage- only because you're re-working some very familiar and old pieces within you. Instead of boredom, you meet the challenges with zest. You should be proud of yourself! This vigor will lead you to new endeavors as Rahu and Ketu shift. Keep it up. Virgo: The critic may be at an all time high right now. Tell it to simmer. But better yet, invite it to tea. Ask your critic what it needs and wants from you before you send it packing. It has messages for you about comfort, nourishment and support that are vital pieces of your inner puzzle. Don't disregard this time period of revision; it can offer deep analysis. Note where the comfort and support is coming from. Friends, finances and teachers, as well as creativity and the arts, bring you many nourishing gifts. Be open to receive. Libra: Whatever has not been attended to thus far, will get microscopic attention in the next few weeks. If it rears its ugly head, it means you missed a spot. You and your relationships in general have been getting an overhaul for many months now, and the climax is near. Be very mindful of who and what you are putting your attention/intention on. Don't backslide. Attend to details with a powerful lens of excavation and learn from every last morsel you can. Once Rahu and Ketu shift, a new set of endeavors set in. Don't waste this precious time of inner change. Scorpio: Relationships and connections are proving to be valuable resources of comfort, nourishment and support right now. Be sure to give them your gratitude. New opportunities are being presented, yet it's hard to tell if they are new or just the same old offerings, repackaged. It may feel confusing, but consider this as practice- a trial run- before the big changes set in. How willing are you to jump out of your comfort zone? The bigger the leap, the bigger the potential. You're about to leap out of 18 months of ashram life, into 18 months of worldly exploration as Rahu and Ketu shift. Buckle up and get ready for take-off. Sagittarius: This is an ideal time to pay attention to your digestion, your stomach and what you are eating. Too much sweet and fat, alcohol and intoxicants may be tempting you, so be mindful of moderation and cravings. Career starts to take shape and you are meeting the right people to get your self moving forward. Let the past inform your forward momentum. If it worked before, repackage it, reuse it, and reformulate it to make it relevant for the now. Upgrade your self. There may be an edge with your relationships right now. Can you soften and support, rather than judge and criticize? Capricorn: There's so much rewind happening. Are you bored yet? It's a rare opportunity to have so much time to rework, recycle, re-walk the same old ground so many times in so many different ways. Work every angle, find missed opportunities. Basque in the glory of the "do over" you are getting to explore right now. It's not only healing for you, but helping you re-configure your career offerings. You will take this re-imagining into the next phase of Rahu/Ketu in Virgo and Pisces so think of this as precious incubation time. Aquarius: Some new balm is washing over the heart right now. Let it stabilize you and nurture you. This jump starts the theme for your upcoming year where Jupiter offers healing wisdom and growth to you from inside out. A clarity in your purpose and goals gathers momentum right now. Put it into action and share with others. You are getting a chance to re-evaluate your self and your dharma right now. Heads up! The courage this introspection requires will be essential for you as Rahu and Ketu change signs. You are in for some deep, inner work ahead so start now and invite it in. Pisces: The valves within your heart chamber are syncing with a mechanical wisdom and helping you gain clarity and precision. Great for boundary work, identifying what's working and what's not, within your life and relationships. There's a gentle courage easing its way in simultaneously, giving wisdom to you and your intuitive awareness. As you finish up loose details from the past and determine what is staying with you and what is going- for good- make a commitment to finding radical self acceptance. Put your Self first. Always. Let this be your first reminder for the next Rahu and Ketu cycle. Was this post helpful? Please share it with a friend! Thank you. New Moon is on Friday in the early morning hours- in Gemini and Ardra nakshatra.
Monday, June 23rd Moon transits Aries and moves from Bharani to Krittika nakshatra at 12:30 CDT, enlivening the Sun and Agni- the fire of life. Internal and external flames intensify, heat and passion, anger and aggression are fanned. These energies are heightened as a result of Mars's direct gaze 8 houses away. With Sun now in Ardra nakshatra in close proximity to retrograde Mercury, the mind is likely to have an edge to it. Have you noticed? Or are you blaming it on everyone else? Is the past haunting you? Moon will be sandhi the majority of the afternoon, moving to the edge of Aries. It jumps into Taurus at 18:48 CDT, assuming its position and degrees of exaltation. A rare example of how sandhi degrees (when a planet is in the gap between signs) can actually be a strong placement. Read more about sandhi in my recent article: Living in Limbo. Moon joins Venus in Taurus, who is nicely placed in its own sign right now. Moon is friendly to everyone, however, Venus isn't fond of the Moon. These two, however, are out of the gaze of the other planets right now so this will allow them to share and shine. Look for some strong waves of creativity, inner flow and fluidity, movement and grace. Dance, sing, make art. Let your creative acts stoke your inner flames tonight. Watch how you relate to others and don't lash out. Instead, use your emotions to deepen your inner relationship. Tuesday, June 24th Moon is exalted and in Krittika nakshatra enlivening the Sun and Agni. Heat and fire rule the first half of the day. Work with themes of cutting, clearing, purification and transformation. Just after midday, Moon moves into Rohini nakshatra at 13:48 CDT, having crossed over Venus by this point. In this position, Moon moves from exaltation into mulitrikona, but is still a strong placement for it, out of the gaze of other planets. Our creativity is intensified. Are ideas percolating and gathering steam? Keep a piece of paper and a pen near by and have your journal handy for doodles, sketches and list making. Take your sketches into dancing, let your dancing become paintings. Move, flow, and let the creativity move you and be moved by you. Sing, communicate, share, connect. Wednesday, June 25th The first half of the day, Moon continues through Rohini nakshatra. The creative suggestions from yesterday still apply. Keep a piece of paper and a pen near by and have your journal handy for doodles, sketches and list making. Take your sketches into dancing, let your dancing become paintings. Move, flow, and let the creativity move you and be moved by you. Sing, communicate, share, connect. As Moon moves into Mrigashirsha nakshatra at 15:28 CDT, instant change occurs. The pace of the deer and its swiftness carries us into action, movement and momentum. Can you feel the shift take place within you? Think in terms of action steps. Soma and Mars are enlivened with this nakshatra, life giving qualities surface and offer their sustenance. What life giving nourishment can you move towards? Pay attention for the messages maybe strong or they may be subtle. Thursday, June 26th Moon crosses into Gemini in the early hours of the morning at 04:26 am CDT, though still in Mrigashirsha nakshatra. It joins retrograde Mercury in this nakshatra and Sun in Ardra nakshatra. These three planets receive gaze from Rahu nine houses away, intensifying the mental/emotional edge and our shadow issues. Moon crosses directly over Mercury around 7:30 am CDT which will likely intensify the mental body tussle with the emotions. Make your daily to-do list over breakfast and if you can start your day with a more gentle approach, do it. Try meditation, gentle yoga, a quiet walk outdoors. This is a good day to count to ten before speaking and to get plenty of fresh air and physical movement. Get out of the head and into the body! Ready to take action? Join me for my final Cosmic Creative Self workshop today where we explore Mars and action steps. Venus moves into Rohini nakshatra at 17:08 CDT. Expect creativity to be flowing in the coming weeks! Get out your paints, dance, draw, sing, write. Share your work with others. Be nourished by your creativity and let others nourish you with theirs. This placement of Venus may help our sense of security and thriving. Let the abundance flow towards you and through you. Moon moves to Ardra nakshatra at 17:29 CDT as it nears the Sun. Emotions intensify with Rudra and Rahu heightened here, so watch yourself and don't let the mind get away with its usual shenanigans. Inner tracking will be important to avoid overwhelm. At this time, Moon is already well into the 15th tithi, the final phase of its waning cycle. Do a three level check in for greater awareness. Friday, June 27th Moon transits Gemini with retrograde Mercury and Sun. All receive drishti from a very sandhi Rahu. New Moon is at 3:08 am CDT while in Gemini and Ardra nakshatra. How will you use this strength? This New Moon is not the silent, soft and quiet kind. For there is immense power available to us at this time. It is quiet and inward as any empty new Moon is, yet be mindful of the power available within this silence. What are you creating? Cultivating? And inviting in at this time? What is your relationship to the inner and outer winds? Start your day off with meditation, pranayama and yoga. Get the inner prana moving and in this new waxing cycle upon us, attend to the needs of the inner winds. Do a three level check in for greater awareness. Moon moves to Punarvasu nakshatra at 19:49 CDT, enlivening Jupiter and Aditi energy. Saturday, June 28th Mars moves from Hasta nakshatra into Chitra nakshatra at 6:36 am CDT. Mars and Rahu are nearing each other as we prepare for their exact conjunction in the coming weeks. This is a very intense and charged time so be mindful of these energetics in general with regard to your Self, life and relationships. Mars will be in Chitra for roughly a month (through the end of July). This nakshatra is ruled by Mars (heat, passion, aggression, action) and the deity Vishvakarma. He is the "cosmic architect" who loves to create, build, plan and orchestrate. The action oriented association to the planet Mars (both within the nakshatra and by Mars's transit through Chitra) insures that foundations will be laid, steps will be taken and changes will be amplified. Par for the course as we look at the grande planetary shifts happening right now and in the coming weeks! Change is here! Moon transits Gemini with retrograde Mercury, and Sun and is in Punarvasu nakshatra. Aditi, mother of all goodness and unity is enlivened as well as the planet Jupiter. Perhaps you can feel the expansion and a greater smoothness enter your mind as a result of the Moon's shift. As it nears the gap midday, the softness heightens and offers an opening to us. What is coming through the portal for you? Jupiter is a sign away, exalted in Cancer, and can offer some awareness. Are you inviting it in yet? Are you in Houston? Join me at Bayou Bliss Yoga for my Jupiter workshop. Need a virtual workshop instead? Join me for my final Cosmic Creative Self workshop online tomorrow instead. Moon moves into Cancer, its own sign, joining exalted Jupiter there at 15:45 CDT. Both receive drishti from retrograde Saturn in this position. Jupiter has gained strength at this point and is now over the two degree mark which helps our sense of stability, expansion and wisdom. Jupiter and Moon basque in each others radiance as Moon crosses over him. They both offer a gentle awareness to us through heart, emotions, and expanded wisdom. Let it flow. Look for sweet balms of the heart and emotions today. What soothes, nurtures and flows toward you? Feeling restricted and collapsed? This can be from Saturn's gaze. Be easy with the opening. You don't have to force it. Just be willing to invite in, expand and grow. Moon moves into Pushya nakshatra at 22:26 CDT. Sunday, June 29th Moon transits its own sign of Cancer and Pushya nakshatra with exalted Jupiter. Both receive drishti from retrograde Saturn in this position. Jupiter has gained strength at this point and is over the two degree mark which helps our sense of stability, expansion and wisdom. Pushya provides nourishment from Brihaspati (a personified Jupiter) and the planet Saturn. The symbol is the udder of a cow, who offers nourishment to her calf. This is the nourishment palpable with Pushya nakshatra. What is flowing towards you? Away from you? What are you inviting in? Where is the flow being obstructed? Our nourishment and sense of nourishment is directly connected to how able we are to receive. This is a vulnerable position, unlike the position of giving, which is the power position. Today, think in terms of balancing both the give and receive and notice how vital they are to each other. They are truly interrelated functions required for getting our needs met from life, relationships and our environment. Using the metaphor of inhale and exhale, the dance of the life force can be a potent tool of awareness. Use my Jupiter expand/contract workshop for more insights. Ready to take action? Title: Limbo #3 This painting by Alexandra Levasseur sparked something in me this morning. I identify with it on a visceral level; as if it is a painting of my insides. Recently I've been working with the theme of "limbo" in my personal artistic and therapeutic process. This theme started to emerge from my shadows as I painted and danced, using my intermodel body centered expressive art therapy practice. It's here. It's been here as long as I can remember, yet only recently was I able to identify it for what it is.
Limbo: it's a neither here nor there type feeling. It's not firmly grounded, yet not entirely uprooted either. There's a sense of always "preparing" for something that might be next, just around the corner, arriving today- or tomorrow, or the next. Limbo requires that we don't fully unpack our bags, that life stays in boxes ready for the inevitable changes of life and moving on. Limbo can be used as a protection mode, an internal set point that allows us to not get fully hurt or damaged. "It didn't really matter that much? I'll be moving on soon anyway." Limbo can show up as resignation, a sense of futility, a passivity in our energetics. We may try to take action, but we use limbo as our buffer to give padding for inevitable pains and disappointments. A session with my shaman and mentor was a catalyst in helping me identify this physical response. The tendency for me to "roll out" of my physical body too easily as a protection mechanism has been a default for me since childhood but I've been unaware of its consequences. This is actually quite common for those who have experienced trauma- especially early in life. Staying separate from what's going on within can be like having a "safe zone" to go to when things get too tough. But this doesn't bode well for life, or living fully, nor for one's sense of embodiment. This "neither here nor there" type feeling can be likened to a death process- the in between realms- when a soul is neither in a body nor in the higher realms. And so limbo is thus mirroring death in some ways. (Another reason it's so important to work with the emotional body and somatic embodiment awareness so that we can ground into what is happening rather than push it away. This is a big reason why I'm so passionate about a body centered approach to therapy- and of course the arts- as they are a big messenger for the inner landscape). Limbo can show up in our emotional body, our mental body and our physical body. It can appear as confusion, indecisiveness, lack of clarity, lack of purpose, a sense of disillusionment and overwhelm. It can cause us to lack commitment or refuse to commit. It can hinder action steps and send us into a state of depression as a result. As with any inner process that I'm witnessing in myself, I take it into my jyotish practice. I look at my chart. I assess the transits. I feel into the planetary implications- the felt sense of it all. Limbo can be related to sandhi planets. Sandhi is the gap; the inbetween space. The netherworld between signs if you will. Most schools of Vedic astrology consider this placement to be weak, to lack strength and clarity. Sandhi planets, who are just entering a sign or just leaving a sign can lack clarity, purpose and focus, just as I've described about the sense of being in limbo. Sandhi planets are indeed in limbo. (You can check for this in your own chart by looking for planets that are less then 2 degrees or over 28 degrees). It's true, sandhi planets lack the grounding and stability that a planet who is clearly situated within a sign may offer. It is as though the planet hasn't fully decided if it is in the house that it is in. It is on its way in or out, but hasn't decided which one it will be. Its bags are still packed, boxes are still full, and it may not know if it's here or there. It's a traveler. It's in limbo. This sense of here nor there, however, can offer some profound insights and awareness. Nothing is all good nor all bad, and this is quite true with sandhi planets. The gap offers us a connection to the mystical realms, the nether realms, and can offer great depth and awareness with what feels untouchable most of the time (or all the time depending on the individual). Planets that are sandhi offer potential, possibility, unique insights and depth as a result of their "otherworldly" connections. These are flexible planets and of course that can show up as versatility in a person as well. We can let this lack of grounding hinder us or give us great awareness. That is a choice. I like to remind my clients that what may appear to be a "negative", is in fact a great gift of some sort just waiting to be discovered. If there's any part of a chart that gives this type of indication so clearly, I think it is sandhi planets. The type of planet and its sign placement will effect the experience of the limbo dance, and the gift or offering within the chart as a result. In my natal chart I have a sandhi Saturn. Saturn represents the physical body, its structure, as well as our sense of support, stability and the ability to be consistent and methodical. The placement of my sandhi Saturn indicates that there may be some issues with these indications as a result of his "neither here nor there" placement. However, the gift here is that he offers me a very real experience of the physical body and the physical structure of the universe, that is beyond the mundane, the tangible. My lack of physical grounding has insisted that I put in much effort to change that; hence my passion for embodiment work. It will be my lifelong work, but I will gain much growth and grounding as a result. His placement in my 10th house insures that I will share my experiences of the body (internal body as well as universal body) with others as a result. This is not without constant effort, but knowing this expression of Saturn has been profound for me. As a result I've been working with my "limbo dance" in a very different way. Letting Saturn give me insights and awareness that I may have not been looking for if I didn't understand his complexities and unique placement in my chart. And perhaps all of this limbo work will eventually lead to unpacking my boxes and landing somewhere more permanently. As the planets change (every 2.5 days to 2.5 years) each goes through a time period of sandhi. These time periods offer us an experience of possibility and change, immense creativity and potential. At these times, we may feel unsettled, poised for change, but uncertain when it will come. These junction points may cause us to dream and scheme for something new, yet feel frustration that it isn't arriving soon enough or fast enough. Sandhi times are like a grace period and should be treated as such. Don't rush things, force agendas, or take untimely actions. Let the planet arrive firmly into its house before you force change, make decisions or take forward action steps. Find ways to surrender to your depths, to listen intently, quiet the mind, and settle into your inner knowing during sandhi planetary dances. The gap is a perfect time for meditation. These are times to harvest your inner riches; special times that are otherwise unavailable to us. Listen intently and use these time periods of sandhi, the gap, for the value that they can offer. This full Moon brings with it a power and intensity that can provoke inner change. Capitalize on this and bring intention to what you are ushering in. What strength and power are you inviting in during the next cycle? As the Moon slowly empties, how can your bring this sense of bravery, courage and strength with you? How can this super sensitivity be a powerful tool for you in the coming weeks? Have you made your full Moon mandala yet? Here are some ideas. Themes that carry us through the coming waning cycle: Explore emotional depth and the intersection of the mental/emotional bodies. What structural shifts need to occur in your life? What structural shifts are naturally occurring? Look closely for the sliver of light that has emerged in the past weeks, the dawning that is occurring. Relationships are getting re-patterned, re-structured and re-negotiated. Can you feel these shifts occurring in your contracts? What is feeling supportive and nurturing? What is not? What have you been learning about what feels helpful and stabilizing for you? Are you ready to cut loose all that doesn’t? How dramatically are you willing to shift and change these old contracts so that you can get your needs met in more life-supporting ways? You don’t have to commit to anything yet. Just be open to new possibilities, new tools, new options and new resources arriving to you. However, do find a door to close and don’t look back. It’s time to be dramatic. Full Moon Chart: Upcoming Transits:
Big shifts and changes occur back to back on 06.15, signaling the momentous changes afoot with the planets and our felt experiences. These are the changes for June 15th that lead us into the upcoming multiple planetary changes: Sun moves into Gemini just minutes after midnight, where it joins a sandhi Jupiter and a retrograde Mercury there. Sun transits Gemini until 07.16. These three planets receive drishti from Rahu, which enlivens movement, force and uncertainties. This new cycle of Sun brings heightened creative potential, possibility and a changeable nature. Fears and concerns over “doing the right thing” crop into our minds and this effect our actions and ability to act. There may be a sense of confusion as a result. Simultaneously, this may cause an increase in our creative potential, we may try new things as a result and we may end up finding new resources and possibilities because of our moveable minds. Watch out for self sabotage and self destructive tendencies. Are you derailing your self on purpose? Or do you need to be forcing a change in your behaviors and patterns? Listen carefully to your needs at this time. Also on June 15th, Venus moves to Krittika nakshatra for roughly ten days. This heightens the cutting and changes in our relationships, creative process and will likely bring a new clarity with it. Simplify, get organized, cut away what does not serve you in your life. This purging will bring purification and transformations as a result. This is preparing us for the upcoming Jupiter cycle where we will all have an opportunity to receive more balance within our hearts and emotions, more nourishment in our relationships and life experience. Cut and purge as though your life depends on it. It does. The other change on 6.15 that happens is Mercury moves back into Mrigashirsha nakshatra, a very movement oriented star that is symbolized by the deer. Mercury, our mental body, is always changing, always moving and is connected to consistent fluctuations. The deer symbol reiterates this “twitchy” nature. Retrograde Mercury in its dance backwards, is re-visiting this nakshatra and inviting in some other possibilities that you may have missed on the first cycle through. Pick up clues and be cognizant of symbols that resurface. Deja vu? Be alert like a deer and notice everything. There will be laser sharpness in the mind at this time. Strategize, make lists, set attainable goals, get organized. Avoid mental land mines and mind ruts. Too in the head? Get embodied. Venus moves to its own sign of Taurus on 06.18 at 07:08 am CDT away from Mars’s drishti and the conjunction of Ketu. This may be the stabilizing force that allows us to make more lasting and life-supporting changes for ourselves during the next month. With all the instability and changeability in the planets right now, this grounding earthiness of Venus in Taurus can help us ground and get the nourishment and support we need in order to make more high level decisions and take very effective action. Resource with this support. Use dance and art to find nurturing and comfort, to create the life you are moving into. Enjoy the simple comforts available right now. As Venus moves into Gemini on July 13th, rather dramatic and abrupt shifts will be happening simultaneously with Rahu and Ketu moving signs and Rahu and Mars conjoining in Virgo (Venus’s debilitation sign). Sudden changes are on the horizon. For now, use stability and grounding as a resource. Just as Venus moves into Taurus, Jupiter makes his momentous change into Gemini later that day at 20:24 CDT. I’ve written extensively on this transit. For greater insights on this 13 month transit visit my Exalted Jupiter articles part one and two. Need some guidance and clarity for this coming year? Schedule a yearly progression with me. I am now booking sessions for June. Solstice occurs on 6.21 at 05:54 am CDT. It is officially summer for the Northern Hemisphere. Just before midnight on 6.21, Sun moves into Ardra nakshatra, heightening our connection to Rudra and Rahu until 7.05. Emotional upheaval, intense movement and change, calamities and uncertainties may be increased. Some worldly success may be provided for some in the coming weeks, but watch for excessive cravings simultaneously. This will be an excellent time to navigate our emotional body with very deliberate awareness as we will likely be feeling some passing clouds and stormy weather. Venus moves to Rohini nakshatra on 6.26 just in time for the new Moon. The creative energy should be palpable at this time as Venus is also in its own sign of Taurus. Jupiter is stronger at this time and Rahu and Ketu intensify as they near the very edge of Libra and Aries respectively. Desires and letting go increase simultaneously. Keep these themes in mind in the next few weeks as we near their transition. New Moon is on 6.27 at 3:09 am CDT while Moon is in Gemini and Ardra nakshatra. Moon will be with Sun there (also in Ardra) and a retrograde sandhi Mercury. There’s a certain intensity with this new Moon. Watch your speech and communications. More on this new cycle in my next transit report. Horoscopes for 6.13 to 6.27 *Horoscopes are based on your Vedic rising sign. Aries: Income starts to even out and stabilize over the course of this cycle but not without some headaches and effort. Home and heart matters may feel weak and overburdened so keep things small and simple as much as possible. Work with emotions consciously and navigate the inner realms with intention. Speak and sing, communicate and share effectively, clearly and concisely. Get creative and use your hands. Clean up your diet and your relationships. Taurus: You are getting much more support right now. Are you feeling the grounding? Likely the head feels strong and creative, powerful and resourceful, but the stomach still demands your attention. The physical body is calling for you to attend to its needs and to not neglect this powerful tool of awareness. What are you learning about speech and stomach? Comfort and digestion? What you ingest and what you get out of it (your digestion/assimilation process)? Continue to look for themes between nourishment and support and the gut and digestion. They are inseparable. Gemini: Your mind is getting some very usable laser focus right now. Your past is informing your future actions. As Mercury continues to retrograde in your first house, use your past to inform your future. What needs to change for you in order to make some powerful forward strides? As Jupiter moves into your 2nd house, comfort and nourishment begins to rise, albeit slowly. Share your thoughts and words, your heart and emotions with others. Ground and stabilize with alone time. Let go of friends that aren’t true blue and change the way you share your gifts. Cancer: Endings turn to beginnings as Jupiter moves into your first house. Though losses and letting go continue to be a theme for you, trust that ample space is being made for newness inside and out. Your heart space and home space are getting a powerful cleanout. Create and use your hands- let this activate your higher wisdom. Let friends nourish and support you, comfort and stabilize you. Look for the support, seek it out, and ground. Trust the changes in your career to make more sense in the coming months. Leo: Career finds a new creative and supportive edge with a bit of notoriety to boot. Enjoy the purpose and power you are capable of creating. Friendships may be intense right now so navigate carefully. As Jupiter moves into your 12th house, you begin a cycle of letting go, which may involve relationships- so let the letting go begin now. Cut loose what does not feel safe, supportive and nurturing. Invite in and create space for a greater sense of depth, power and purpose to arrive in the coming months. Virgo: Clarity and focus come to you with a powerful edge- causing some relief as well as upheaval. Don’t over think, just continue to take effective action steps. The pieces will fall into place accordingly. You are still worried about support and comfort, getting your needs met and the nourishment you require. This is more mental and emotional than anything, so work on the pieces within that need to shift in order for lasting change. Working with the upheaval and the challenges around these concerns are valuable resources for you. Don’t negate them. As Jupiter moves into your 11th house, friends become powerful allies of support. For now, look to education and teachers for greater stability, creativity and awareness. Libra: Storm season isn’t quite over for you, but suddenly new possibilities and options arrive making you feel more hopeful. This is a great time to upgrade your skills, gain new knowledge, teach and share your wisdom. Likely there’s some sharpness, some new clarity that can get you moving in a more forward direction. Money matters and resources stabilize- seemingly coming from the unknown, from your depths. Perhaps you’re getting some payback? Watch for overspending though. Relationship contracts continue to get restructured. Focus on your career right now. Scorpio: Endings and letting go continue to be themes that hold powerful awareness for you. Continue to use this as a resource for growth and transformation. Speak, sing and share about consciousness and self expansion. Use your experiences with loss as a connector, not a separator. Relationships strengthen right now- utilize them for finding greater stability and support, nourishment and grounding. There are things you can trust. Trust this. You and your powers of connection are in transformation right now. Teach, share, advise. People are ready to listen. Sagittarius: Relationships continue to bring a bit of an edge with them. Sometimes they feel supportive and helpful, but mostly they don’t quite satisfy your needs. What really needs to shift and change in order for you to attract more nourishing and safe connections? Look in new places for answers- within your Self and within new environments. Change your scenery. As Jupiter moves to your 8th house, you begin a powerful year of transformation, letting go and sifting through your past. The work and the challenges will be well worth the effort it will require from you. Capricorn: Relationships bring new themes of comfort and support as well as resources once Jupiter moves to your 7th house. Heart and emotions still feels unstable, unpredictable and unsatisfied though. Career continues to change- capitalize on this instability and use it as a resource for your work and how you offer your self. Clean up your diet and watch what you eat. Eat plenty of steamed leafy greens. Work with children, get creative, gain knowledge through your passions. Teach and speak directly from your wisdom, mistakes, lessons and bad habits. You’ll be speaking from the gut. Aquarius: The beauty and grace in your heart feels more tangible and solid in the coming weeks. Use this to find a sense of inner reliability and greater self sufficiency. You are embarking on a clean up cycle as Jupiter moves into your 6th house. Think of it as an initiation process. Make your body, mind and spirit the number one priority. Seek knowledge, wisdom and support from educational resources, gurus and guides. Work with your anger and use it as a tool of awareness and growth. Don’t let it stay in the dark. Pisces: Heart, emotions and relationships come with a strong edge. Think before you speak. This is a time of great house cleaning and finding new creativity for your life. Be bold and courageous and let go of everything that is not serving your higher purpose. Be a warrior in cutting your losses and free up some much needed heart space. Work on themes of nourishment and support, boundaries, needs and what you ingest- physically and metaphorically. Prepare for a new cycle of passion and growth. Was this post helpful? Please share it with a friend! Thank you. Get your horoscopes, transits and emotional resources all in one place.
