This Week's Intention: Let your inner waters create and flow, move and transform. Find ways to land and ground, while reaching up and out- extending your reach. Seek harmony, integration and balance for your four bodies- physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Moon is waning, Venus has just moved to its own sign, Libra, yet the tenacity of Mars and Rahu in Virgo continues. The Saturn, Sun and Mercury conjunction continues to play out until Saturday when Mercury shifts to Sagittarius. Movement, fluidity, creativity and relationships invite in change and transformation. Monday begins with themes of balance and harmony as Moon moves through Pushya nakshatra. Venus is weak and vulnerable in degrees so tend to the relationship with self and others cautiously. After noon, Moon shifts to Ashlesha nakshatra and inner illusions amplify. Use resources and tools to work directly with the mental and emotional bodies. Consciously work with shadows and the critical mind. Drop into your heart and notice where you are stuck in judgement and critical thought. Deepen compassion for self and others. Tuesday begins with Moon still moving through its own sign, Cancer, while in Ashlesha nakshatra. Sarpa continues to manipulate the mental body and calls for increased awareness with matters of the mind. Mid afternoon, Moon leaps into Leo and lands in Magha nakshatra. Power, ego and force increase as well as ancestral matters. Ask for guidance and support. Venus begins to strengthen in Libra which helps to soften judgement, rigidity and self-righteousness. Notice where mental tenacity is over powering you. How can you release the mind and land in your body? Meditate and find time to be in nature. Moon continues through Magha on Wednesday. Let spiritual resources provide extra support and ask the ancestors to help you with your needs and desires. Land back in your power and notice resources that help you bolster your sense of self and well being. Early evening, Moon shifts to the Phalguni constellation, landing in Purvaphalguni. Increased potency, life force energy and creative forces begin to flow. What relationships are nourishing you? What relationships need to be released? How can your creative life force energy help you increase resiliency and inner strength? Thursday continues with Moon moving through Purvaphalguni nakshatra. Resource yourself with joy, connection, relationships, sensuality and artistry. Let this be the balm that heals your heart and helps you land in your power and purpose. Seek nourishment and stability, balance and integration. Where does the critic keep you from getting your needs met? How do rigidity and resistance keep you stuck, constricted and in constant conflict with yourself and others? Moon shifts to the latter half of the Phalguni constellation later in the evening. As Moon arrives in Uttarphalguni, it conjuncts Jupiter exactly. Swells and increases are to be expected on the emotional and spiritual body levels. Watch the critic actively and gather resources from its precision. Where does it support you? Where does it keep you from your power? Just as Friday morning begins, the Moon shifts to Virgo, joining Rahu and Mars here. Shadows and illusions intensify today, helping us to identify inner challenges. Look for resources within the rubble. The critic continues to be a central focus, inviting us to look at parts of ourselves that we may not like or have pushed away unconsciously. Do you lash out at others? Play the victim? Keep giving your power away? Use anger and resentment to vindicate others? Notice where you need more light and life. Where are you hurting yourself with rigidity and righteousness? Just before midnight, Moon shifts to Hasta nakshatra. Let the light in and make room for the dawn to arrive. Where are you shining your light? Saturday Moon continues through Hasta nakshatra. Savitr brings increased light and awareness but it may come through challenges, obstacles, pains and suffering instead. These are the places you need to be cracked open, places within that need more light. The pain forces us to put our attention here and notice what isn't working. From here, gather resources, support, guidance and wisdom to transform and heal. Mercury moves to Sagittarius on December 5th at 22:16 PST, leaving the conjunction of Saturn and Sun in Scorpio behind. This eases the mental body pressures on multiple levels and gets the mind out of the dark depths of our subconscious. Mercury in Sagittarius offers spiritual support and transformation for our mental body blockages. This may feel like a welcomed relief after the many months of intensity and identifying deep, dark inner challenges and blockages. Certain challenges will continue for the mind in this cycle to come if you resist surrender and awakening to your deeper purpose and meaning. If you force outcomes or objectives, there will be intensification. When ego gets in the way of your awakening process, there will be frustrations, obstacles and excess inner heat. Notice when the fire is scorching you. Where can you let go and let spirit guide you? Creativity is at an all time high, with maximum flow and fluidity moving through the hands. Intentionally channel this creative life force energy through the arts, music, writing and co-creation. Courageously step into community, relationship and support systems that nourish and increase a sense of safety and support within. Seek balance with inner and outer and express your needs clearly. Self care and deep inner nourishment are essential at this time. Be mindful of what you put into your body and what comes out of it- through words, actions, expression, etc. What relationships and environments feel nourishing? Which ones do not? Get clear on what works for your mind, body, heart and spirit. Remove and let go of all that is draining you, making you feel heavy. Find healthy boundaries within your life. Simplify the heart and home. Clear away old karmic patterns. Where is the ego resisting and holding you back? How is the mental body ruling your life and choices? Orient yourself towards feelings and sensations. Let this honest wisdom determine your choices and actions. This is a time of creating radical inner and outer balance. Be courageous with your intentions. Gather support, guidance, knowledge and wisdom to assist your efforts. Above all, land in your gut and let your core values determine what you need. Ask your ancestors, father, gurus and guides for extra support. Let spirit into your life in new ways. Spread your wings, extend your reach and find new flight patterns. Moon moves to the final nakshatra of Virgo, Chitra, just as Sunday morning begins. This nakshatra provides momentum, action steps and the ability to build. Use your light and awareness to visualize your dreams, goals and desires. Then take an action step that supports these visions materializing. Moon shifts to Libra late afternoon, joining Venus here. There is sensitivity, as well as grace, fluidity and artistry enlivened in the coming days. Channel this effectively through the arts. Let the pelvis be a stabilizing force for you- a way to help you land and ground. Midmorning Monday, Moon moves to Swati nakshatra and joins Venus in exact conjunction. Inner and outer winds intensify. What direction are you moving? Can you stay grounded even in the midst of these strong winds? Creative flow is increasing. Catch the wave with intention and harness the creative powers within. *All timing is given in Pacific Standard Time Zone.

It's challenging to see how our problems can actually be the solution. It's impossible most of the time to turn our weaknesses into our strengths. Rarely do we harvest resources in our weakest moments. The reality is, these are the very experiences that can change and transform our lives. These are moments of power if we choose to use them. Our jyotish charts are a resource for finding our power, our gifts and our strengths. The purpose of our jyotish charts is to share with us why we are alive, why we have incarnated. It shows us our strengths and our weaknesses. Rarely do we use these areas of weakness to maximize ourselves though. Traditionally, jyotish has been used as a means of creating greater awareness, a tool of insight. Often though our challenges, our karmas, are shown to us as a hardship that may not be overcome in this lifetime. It's true, the jyotish chart is a map of our accumulated karmas thus far, but it is important to remember this energy is not stagnant- is is constantly changing- as are we. I use the jyotish chart to maximize the energy of change, the potential for transformation. In my classes and personal sessions, my intention is to always empower my clients to use resources that will keep them evolving, moving, changing and transforming towards their highest potential. But when we are stuck in darkness, it is often hard to see the light switch. Money problems, worries and anxieties, are part of this paradigm of "stuckness" that can keep us in a state of overwhelm, feeling powerless, as a result of not being able to see ourselves clearly. The number one complaint I hear from clients is that they have a lack of money. The roots of this money issue can be seen in the jyotish chart, but ultimately it is an inability to nourish ones self, to receive nourishment from life. The second house is vital to determine our relationship with money. It is the house of nourishment, how we are fed. Literally it is connected to the time immediately after birth, and how we were nourished directly after we were born as well as during our childhood. It is the house of food and the body parts connected to the second house are mouth and throat as well as speech. But the second house is also a wealth house. Money in fact is a source of nourishment, a way of being fed. What is your relationship with nourishment? We can look to the second house to determine our relationship with life nourishment, but really all of our relationships are determined by Venus, the karaka (indicator) of love and relating. Venus is the planet of love and allows the nourishment to flow, to be fluid, to move through us freely. If we have blockages that keep Venus's love from flowing, we will also have issues with the other indications of Venus as well: wealth, creativity, life force energy. Since Venus is connected to jala, water, it truly brings us life. This is why money is an important part of having a good relationship with life. Money brings life itself. Problems arrive when we are not in right relationship with this creative, fluid nourishment from Venus. You can look at your chart to see what obstructions might be affecting your flow. Any connections Saturn has with your Venus will be an indication their is loss, grief or sadness effecting your ability to be nourished. Rahu will bring misjudgments, mistrust, fears and illusions that make you feel unsafe or not seeing clearly. Mars may offer pains due to acting without thinking, thus there may have been issues where you have literally gotten "burned" by money. These are important discoveries because they show you where your resources are hidden! Yes, these challenges, these pains from the past, share important insights for making more income. These painful stories from past experiences are the keys to unlocking the blockages effecting your Venus, the flow of nourishment to you and through you. The time is now for more wealth! As I mentioned in my passion article, the time is truly ripe to work on our Venus issues right now. With the current conjunction of Mars and Ketu conjunct exalted Venus until March 12th, we have a very ripe opportunity to face our fears about wealth, money and nourishment. This theme will continue for the coming months as Ketu continues to transit Pisces, Venus's domain. Since many are feeling challenged by the current Venus/Mars/Ketu conjunction and feeling the obstructions of money directly at this time, it is actually a wonderful opportunity to work directly with the issues coming up for you. This is the brilliance of the transits and how to work with challenging situations that arrive while they are happening. See them as a way to crack open and receive more light. Ketu offers us awakenings if we choose to go into the pain, to heal it and transform it, rather than stay in our illusions and suffering. I use EFT (the emotional freedom technique) as a way to directly target the intense emotional (Moon) and mental (Mercury) responses we experience as a result of our painful experiences and life challenges. These mental/emotional issues effect the physical body (Saturn) and the body will share these messages with us diligently so listen up! EFT is a very efficient way to transform our challenges into awakening and awareness (Ketu). This tool can help us target what needs to be cleared in order to get the Venus life force energy moving through us more fluidly. The podcast below will take you through an EFT tapping sequence that will help you address and clear your money fears connected to debt. Our relationship with debt and our ability to save money represents our ability to hold onto nourishment in our lives, to absorb support and security. When we can't hold onto money there is usually an issue with some loss from the past. Notice in your jyotish chart if Saturn is connected to your Venus in any way. What losses are you still grieving? This will show up in your money and will often become a financial debt at some point. Use this podcast to address the emotions connected to your debts so you can release them and get money flowing to you. Want more support building your wealth now? Please join me for my special June workshop! From Scarcity to Abundance Use resistance and challenges with money as your biggest resources for change and deepen your relationship with money through an embodied, holistic approach to wealth, money making and thriving. Get the Details! Saturn has now shifted into Anuradha nakshatra for the next year. Moon is waxing and brings us a full Moon this week while the Moon is simultaneously exalted. There will be high energy for this one! This week, we also experience Venus moving out of Scorpio and into Sagittarius, reducing some of the pressure within Scorpio. Exalted Jupiter is at the edge of Cancer now; this is our final week until the spring where we will have a forward moving Jupiter. Next week he goes retrograde on the 8th. Read more about Jupiter in Cancer.
Monday, December 1st Today's Intention: Step slowly, step eloquently, step purposefully. Your steps really add up. As of Sunday, November 30th, Saturn moved into Anuradha nakshatra at 08:54 am CST and will be in this lunar constellation for a little over a year. This is a good shift for Saturn to make and it will likely be a valuable transit for helping us put the pieces together in our lives that need to be re-assembled, re-stored and re-aligned, in order for greater wholeness. Since Saturn is in Scorpio, it's very definitely a time of deconstruction, change and transformation, yet with Saturn transiting the friendly star of Anuradha, ruled by Mitra, we have a chance to create some helpful and lasting changes for ourselves- if we are willing and able to work with the finer details of our lives. Mitra is the deity of friendship, so expect him to offer support and resources for building alliances over the course of 2015. Anuradha is ruled by Saturn, so this is a constellation that does well with Saturn's finite abilities. Gain resources through networking, connecting, sharing, being benevolent, speaking the sweet truth. It will, however, be very important to remember the big picture over the next year, as Mitra and Saturn may get us lost in the fine details of life, forgetting the bigger, overall, reality of existence. Read more about the Saturn in Scorpio transit. Moon is transiting Pisces with Ketu there, and receives drishti from Rahu and Jupiter. Moon transits UttaraBhadrapada, enlivening its deity Ahirbudhnya. He is the serpent of the nether realms, who helps us today with uncovering hidden parts of ourselves. He is a Rudra, a strong force of Nature, one that can remove calamities, misfortunes and can help us overcome obstacles. With Moon in conjunction with Ketu and receiving gaze from Rahu, it's important to remember self care guidelines, and pay special attention to your emotional body. Flashes of insight and awareness may arrive today, yet may trigger discomfort. Work with your discomfort effectively, invite it in for a cup of tea, and begin to find a new relationship with your disillusionment. Now's the time to transform your shadow parts with so much energy enlivening Scorpio. Moon shifts into Revati nakshatra at 13:43 CST, inviting in Pushan and Mercury. Pushan offers us safe travels and nourishment along the way. As Moon nears exact conjunction with Ketu late in the evening, we may feel our sensitivity and our fragility increase, and therefor gain greater access to our needs. Use this time for self care and giving yourself sacred space to feel, sense and imagine. As Cyber Monday closes, Ketu (who rules the internet) may bring some sudden and last minute purchases online. Use the Ketu/Moon conjunction to take sudden or swift action steps. Tuesday, December 2nd Today's Intention: All we need is tender loving care. Moon transits Revati nakshatra, but has crossed over Ketu, separating from him now. Nearing the edge of Pisces, Moon prepares to jump into a new cycle around the zodiac. Ketu continues to reflect his light onto Scorpio where Venus, Sun, Saturn and Mercury are currently transiting. This is the sign that is Moon's place of debilitation, thus the past few days have been a strong emotional body reflection time. Many of us have been feeling that intensity and perhaps looking at ourselves under a microscope. This is a good time to balance this extreme introspection with a wide angle lens, the macroscopic view. Seek resources and reflections from others that can remind you of this. As Moon jumps into Aries at 12:52 CST and we experience a sudden shift. This is a tricky junction point for any planet to cross. Not only is it a pivotal crossing from the end of the zodiac (12th house matters) to the beginning of the zodiac (1st house matters), but Pisces is ruled by water, whereas Aries is ruled by fire. Any planet that shifts from water into fire can feel as though it's literally jumping into the fire! Not comfortable. This coupled with the fact that the zodiac begins with Ashwini nakshatra, ruled by Ketu, so we get this lens intensifying our experience for yet another day. Take it easy today and note the delicacy of the Moon, its shift, and the extreme energy in Scorpio right now. Three level check-ins will help you come back into the now and help you name your needs, affirming what will nourish and comfort you. Sun shifts into Jyeshtha nakshatra at 17:44 CST and moves into Indra's domain. Indra rules our senses, so the coming days give us ample opportunities to work diligently with the sensory level of existence. The senses are the very human parts of our being- they bring us to life and they can also over power us, get us into trouble, and destroy us. Indra reminds us to work with them, not against them. We can't neglect them, yet we can't let them run away with us either. Balance is essential. We find balance when we are in right relationship with our senses. How do we do that? Well the first step is to start building a healthy, aware, and conscious relationship with our senses, and our pranic life force, our breath. Working with the 3 levels of awareness will help us name what is arriving in any given moment on the mental, emotional and physical levels of life. Getting embodied is the missing link. Here are some tips. Moon shifts into the 12th tithi today, signifying its fullness nearing. Wednesday, December 3rd Today's Intention: Our vulnerabilities are the source of our greatest power. Moon continues to transit Aries, a Mars ruled sign, and we may be feeling the extra heat. Mars is exalted right now in Capricorn, and four plants are still transiting Scorpio, another Mars ruled sign. We will likely feel this in the emotional body the most, but this may then overheat the mind and body. Take note, less is more right now, and be diligent with your emotional body needs. Listen to its messages! Moon finishes up in Ashwini nakshatra at 12:13 am CST, when it pops into Bharani nakshatra. Bharani nakshatra enlivens Yama and Venus. This is a fierce and transformational nakshatra, connected to death and dying, restraint and also sensitivity. Today we are reminded about our deep vulnerabilities and how to work with them in a very intentional way. Our vulnerabilities are in fact our biggest strengths, and a resource for our greatest center of power. These vulnerabilities are rooted in the second chakra, our pelvis, which is why the symbol of Bharani is not surprising- the yoni. Finding your power center requires standing firmly in the stability of your pelvis. Thursday, December 4th Today's Intention: The nature of life is to grow and progress, and ultimately to find balance. Moon transits into Krittika nakshatra at 11:51 am CST, receiving drishti still from exalted Mars and now in a Nakshatra ruled by the Sun. The emotional body is hot today! With the Moon now in the 14th tithi, our inner tides are high and we are likely feeling the waters within stronger than ever right now as four planets are transiting Moon's debilitation sign, Scorpio. With the water planet, Venus, now perched on the edge of Scorpio, our inner waters are extra sensitive, extra full, extra vulnerable to the many shifts, changes and fluctuations occurring right now. It's not a comfortable time for many! Krittika nakshatra is ruled by Agni, the fire god of transformation who brings us life, literally. Internally, we have many Agni flames that flicker within, keeping us digesting, burning, transforming and changing in order to live life. Externally, our biggest source of Agni is the Sun (hence the ruler of Krittika). Sun is our ultimate transformational resource within our solar system. If we get too close to the Sun we burn, yet without his light, we die. The Sun, Agni and Krittika, all remind us that just the right amount of purification is best practice- not too much, and not too little. Moon jumps into its exaltation sign, Taurus, at 17:48 CST exemplifying the fullness of our emotional body. Moon is also receiving direct gaze from Sun, Mercury and Saturn in Scorpio now. With the Moon exalted, this gives us three planets feeling their fullness right now (Mars and Jupiter as well). This is your gentle reminder to surf the waves. Contain what needs to be contained, purge what needs to be purged, let go of what needs to be let go of. Three level check-ins will help you with the identification process. Moon shifts into its mulitrikona degrees at 23:10 CST, yet still expresses himself at 75%. Friday, December 5th Today's Intention: If you can dream it, you can create it. Mulitrikona Moon shifts into the extremely creative star, Rohini, at 11:47 am CST, enlivening the blessings of Lord Brahma and by default, his consort Goddess Saraswati. This divine couple expresses their influence through manifestation- manifestation from creativity, creative intelligence, and our divine essence which is cosmic creative life force, or shakti. It is on this level of our sacred being that we maximize our potential, not only as a divine being, but as a human being. On this plane of existence, we are here to create our lives, to manifest our dreams into reality, to learn how to create, to literally bring the unmanifest into manifest form. We do this through our second chakra. And this is the power of being embodied. We can't think our dreams into reality, but we can feel and sense our dreams into reality. This is why I am so passionate about somatic awareness and embodiment work. Read more about manifesting through your second chakra. Moon is now in the 15th tithi as Venus jumps into Sagittarius and Mula nakshatra at 16:55 CST. Venus, the creative and passionate planet that symbolizes relationships and the feminine, is in a vulnerable position at this time. Jumping from a sensitive water sign into a fire sign, and right into the challenging nakshatra of Mula. This transit of Venus through Sagittarius takes us through the end of December and will bring a certain discomfort with it, yet a drive to acquire and get material gain. Materialism is not a bad thing- we are after all here in a human form to manifest, create and work directly with our limitless abundance. Yet the wisdom seeking Sagittarius ruled by the guru himself, Jupiter, is not friendly with the asura demon god, Venus. We may find ourselves tangled in the dance of spirit vs. materialism this month. If you are feeling guilt, shame, lack and any aspects of poverty consciousness arrive, I highly suggest working directly with your money problems right now. My favorite technique for overcoming money blockages is the Emotional Freedom Technique. This is a great month to pick of Margaret Lynch's book, Tapping Into Wealth. Saturday, December 6th Today's Intention: Keep reaching towards what nourishes you. Moon is full at 06:26 am CST while in Taurus and Rohini nakshatra. Read my Full Moon Wisdom + Creative Ritual for the Waning Moon Cycle. Moon moves into Mrigashirsha nakshatra at 12:07 pm CST, and Soma, divine nourishment, becomes our primary resource. Soma is another name for the Moon, and is connected to the immortal nectar that brings lasting and unyielding nourishment to us. The Moon's rays are said to offer us Soma, as the filtered rays of the Sun, we can assimilate the light as a healing force, rather than a heating and harming force. The gifts of Soma and the Moon have the power for us to get our needs met, to get the nourishment we need and to find the gifts we are seeking. Mrigashirsha nakshatra is a resourceful constellation and it helps us to branch out, reach out, proliferate and expand. Use this as the metaphor for your day. Expand, grow, nourish and be nourished, and let this be healing. Sunday, December 7th Today's Intention: Play big or go home. Just after midnight, the Moon jumps into Gemini. Out of Rahu's gaze now, as well as Saturn, Mercury and Sun, Moon now receives direct gaze from Venus in Sagittarius. Creativity heightens and we may experience more fluidity and flow of resources today- financial, communication, relational etc. As Moon shifts into Rahu's nakshatra, Ardra, at 12:55 pm CST, a powerful shift occurs. Rahu offers his level of intensity, while Ardra's ruler, Rudra, brings a certain ferocity and strength. End the weekend strong, by finishing tasks, projects and to-do lists, but stay out of the mire, emotional snares, and relationship traps. Mental body and emotional body sensitivity will be intensified. Moon is waning, yet still very full of energy. Mind your emotional body wisdom, tend to its needs, and take care of it by channeling intense emotions effectively. Get the emotions up and out, keep them moving, express them in healthy and cathartic ways, but don't dump on others. This intensity carries us through the greater part of Monday, so keep this in mind as you start your week off with a bang! Need some extra guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me. Here's what many people don't understand about art and creativity.
We need it. We need it like breath. Like water. Like sleep. It gives us life. Art is a life saving tool that can provide us with the ability to move forward with our lives in a more conscious, life affirming way; a life that has more possibilities and more awareness. Before you disregard these grandiose ideas about art, I invite you to meet Expressive Art Therapy, particularly the type of Art Therapy that I work with, which is a body-centered approach. These tools have been life saving for me; above and beyond my meditation and yoga and healthy eating, the arts have allowed me to move with my darkness and misery, and this work has helped me create something different for my Self. Again and again and again. Life changing and life saving, indeed. Art therapists understand the power of art and our innate creative abilities as humans. It's also understood in the Art Therapy realms that art has the potential to heal, to re-create us, to allow ourselves to be open to re-creating ourselves. We understand innately that art helps us work with the unseen, hidden parts of ourselves, and to develop a different relationship with our personal mythologies. Let me take these realities a few steps further. We, as humans, are in a body. This is a tool. A tool of perception, of felt sense, of growth and awareness- if used as such. I say, let's use it! We as humans, are each unique, vast and complex, just as the cosmos are. We are each essentially a microcosmic imprint of the macroscopic universe. The planets and their movements effect us, influence our experiences, and can provide us with a map for our lives. Incredibly useful and very helpful for our journey! This is why I use Jyotish, or Vedic Astrology in conjunction with the arts; these are both fabulous tools of guidance and can provoke self-inquiry and personal growth. This powerful trio of art, body and astrology is a unique combination I've been working with and growing with personally and using with my clients. All three growth tools together, art, the body, and Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) offer an exciting experience of body-centered Expressive Art Therapy or Jyoti Art Therapy as I am calling it. It offers a unique blend of awareness enhancing tools that provide profound results. But here's the catch. Art for arts sake doesn't inherently heal us. It's intention that guarantees a shift; a possible transformation. Art is a by-product of our innate creativity (as humans the creation process is literally how we came into being, why we are here, and how we continue to exist). Artists have "open channels" that allow them to tap into this flow of creativity that courses within each one of us. And the channels that are open for each artist are unique and vary. But these channels aren't just a part of an Artist's existence, we all have creative channels. Most people have closed channels, dry channels, small channels, rigid and brittle channels of creativity. Cultural, familial and personal paradigms keep the creative channels from opening, flowing and thriving. These creative channels are like rivers and provide us with the life giving nourishment that flowing water gives us. Water brings forth life, wealth, purification, abundance and joy. Art and water are very much the same. Not surprisingly, the planet Venus is linked to both these life giving tools; art and water. We need more flow in our lives. We need the channels of our creativity to stay open and fluid. Art (in all its forms) helps us do that, but in order to reap the vast rewards that art has to offer us, we must harvest the richness, the fruits of our labor. We must listen to the hidden messages that our art is offering us. The medium we use will have a direct effect on the benefits we receive, the parts of ourselves that are effected, and the healing properties that can be attained (for this reason an intermodal art process is recommended). When we create a piece of art, a harvesting process can bring a sense of meaning and purpose to our work and help us go beyond the surface, excavate the deeper meanings of our work, the "why" behind it. Art is a messenger from our depths, from the most hidden parts of ourselves. It never ceases to astonish me, fill me with awe, and renew my trust in the magic of creativity. Here's a simple "harvesting" process to use with your next art creation, using the Tamalpa Life Art Process (TLAP) Baseline Statements. These simple questions can help you uncover the hidden messages wrapped up in your artwork. Explore and unravel. Step 1. Move your body, open the channels, get the breath involved, and pay attention to the body's subtle messages. Get embodied. Step 2. Paint, draw, use craypas or pencil. Move and explore, open your senses through an artistic medium. Surrender to the creative process. Don't hold back. Step 3. Answer these Baseline Statements after finishing your art piece: I am___ I want___ I need___ I feel___ Return to this process regularly. Commit to it. Let it help you create more fluidity and listening in your life. Look for themes and symbols, messages and stories that continue to arrive. These patterns are vital messengers. Sometimes, the support and outer influence of a trained witness is necessary and can be profound for your process. When you get to that point, when you feel stuck or at a crossroads, confused or uncertain, it is time to ask for support. I am happy to support you or give you further references for your journey. Contact me for a session. Get creative resources and jyotish insights in my weekly newsletter. {When the colors merge within the chaos} A mandala exploration with craypas. In lieu of this week's New Moon in Sravana nakshatra and Vishnu's "three steps", we will play with pattern and rhythm this week during our dance- while using legs and feet as our entry point.
Legs and feet are grounding, support and bring movement- both forward and backward momentum as well as side to side, up and down. There are metaphors with this connection to direction but legs/feet also symbolize the planetary movement and momentum as well. This week, Venus goes from retrograde (backward) motion to direct (forward) motion. This movement can inform our creativity, our dance, our own actions. Begin with slow, calculated steps walking in a circle. Find a rhythm, a beat, as your feet connect with the floor. Keep moving. Find your momentum and find your dance. Notice a movement that is returning. Are you swinging your arms and legs in a certain way more than once? Are you bending and lifting your leg a certain way over and over? Are you rolling and lifting off the floor continuously? Be a witness to your movements and notice your movement cycles. Then hit the pause button and stop. Recycle the movement. Step once again. Then pause. Repeat this cycle several more times. What do you notice? How does it feel to repeat this movement and what body parts are being used? Go back to your fluid dance and then try it again. Notice your movement patterns. Then pause and stop. Recycle the movement. Step once again. Then pause. Take some time to harvest your findings. What body parts were used in your movement sequence? What feelings came to you? Colors? Textures? Emotions? Sensations? What was your connection/relationship to the floor or other surfaces? What was your connection to space (the third) in this sequence? As I step forward in my life, I need____. As I move forward in my life, I want_____. What is the missing piece(s) in my life dance____? |
