Moon Mind ::: July 8th/9th
Moon moves from Gemini (where it was with Jupiter, Sun, Mercury and Mars) and into Cancer (its own sign). Moon transits Punarvasu nakshatra, ruled by Aditi (and the planet Jupiter), who is the universal mother of all goodness. (Mercury and Sun are currently in Punarvasu as well). Aditi brings assistance, abundance, and expansion of consciousness. Moon moves to Pushya nakshatra in the early hours on the 9th. Aditi gave birth to the 33 Devas which include 12 Adityas, 11 Rudras, 8 Vasus, Indra and Prajapati. These Devas are all pervasive expressions of the universe and thus Aditi is the foundation of the universe. She brings truth (satya), simple wisdoms of life and helps us to realize the sameness (sama) in this life experience. Aditi translates as non-difference; she can bring us an experience of unity consciousness. Pushya is ruled by both Brihaspati (Jupiter as a deity) and the planet Saturn. This nakshatra brings nourishment, as the symbol is a cow udder. Taking the awareness of Punavarvasu and Aditi, one is ready for the knowing and awareness that Pushya and Brihaspati offer. As of the 8th, the new moon occurred at 2:15 CDT this morning and has now moved into the bright half (waxing phase) and is in tithi 1- Amavasya, ruled by the planet Rahu. Moon (as well as the aforementioned planets in Gemini) are receiving drishti from Rahu right now. Jupiter, planetary ruler of Punarvasu, is receiving drishti from Rahu and is currently in Ardra nakshatra- ruled by Rahu. Thus an exchange of energies occurs here between Rahu and Jupiter. Worldly expansion is a possibility. Don’t get carried away.....As moon moves into the 2nd tithi, Dvitiya (ruled by Moon), expect a new awareness of smoothness to become present. A shift from yesterday. Saturn has now finally gone direct after many months of retrograde motion. Saturn sits with Rahu in Libra, both now in Swati nakshatra- ruled by Vayu (wind god/movement) and Rahu as well. The Rahu influences are thus strong right now. Mercury is still retrograde. We can expect structures and stability to start moving in a more supportive and helpful direction, however mentally, there will likely still be confusion and “clean-up” occurring. Find your surrender button. There can be friction and tensions with the inevitable changes, currents and shifts brought about by the expansive Jupiter and the movement of Vayu. Some of this will be on a grande scale. Some may be offered worldly support and assistance. For others, the experience of tempestuous storms will be enhanced. The temptations are strong right now for rajasic behaviors, the foreign and unusual, and general extremes- especially on the mental, emotional levels. Meditation may prove impossible as well as being on a good routine. Do the best you can. Perhaps find liberation in the opposition. We can use this time for “de-centering”, which will later help us return to our “balance” with greater understanding and clarity. Bon chance!!

Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
Sunday 6.16 Moon in the Sun sign, Leo and Uttaraphalguni (on day of Sun, Sunday). A true combination for celebrating the fathers in our lives. Sun is the embodiment of our father energy and Uttaraphalguni is ruled by the Sun and Aryaman- one of the 12 Adityas (children of the universal mother, Aditi). Aryaman rules over the things that sustain relationships, the lasting benefits, the long-term gifts to the ancestors. Children and marriage are among these gifts. The Phalguni stars are connected to fertility, creation, creativity, and the fruits that we get. Form beneficial contracts today, sew good seeds, do dharmic works, pay your respects to father, ancestors and lineage. Watch your ego, excess pride and arrogance. Saturday 6.15
Moon in Leo and moves to Purvaphalguni at 01:41 CDT. The Phalguni stars are fertility and creativity stars. Stars that nurture, induce and provide and are connected to relationships and harmony as a result. Purvaphalguni is ruled by Bhaga who connects us with sexuality and what sparks a relationship as well as love and marriage; not surprisingly, Venus is the ruler here. Bhaga is one of Aditi's children (the universal mother) and is called an Aditya as a result. The twelve Aditya's rule over resources and that which is provided for us in life- they are forms of the Sun god and show potential achievements. Bhaga in particular is connected to past life credits, the 9th house, our luck and fortune and is responsible for "dispensing" these blessings. Look for blessings today. Find harmony with relationships, creativity, and your own good credits. For some there may be struggles with these. Today is the day of Saturn, so the silver lining is likely something we will have to work for. The blessings may be under a veil of grief or suffering, but they will be there and Bhaga will be right behind them. *Follow my daily Moon Mind posts on Facebook and via my blog for increased daily insights into the dance of nakshatra/pranic/intuitive and creative awareness. 03.26.13 Moon in Virgo transiting UttaraPhalguni, ruled by Aryaman. Aryaman is one of the twelve Adityas, is a companion of the Sun, and rules over the ancestors. He gives sustenance, health and strength to the body. This is the second half of the Phalguni constellation- Purva is the other. Uttara means northern or higher vibration. Where as Purva has to do with relationships and the attraction and affection that comes with them, Uttara has more to do with those things that sustain a union and binds a contract for long term gain. In the Vedic sense, marriage and children are ways to repay the ancestors and sustain dharma. Uttara is in it for the long term, Purva is less concerned with sustainability. The Phalguni stars are literally about "making your bed and then laying in it." All metaphors apply. The month of Phalguni in the Vedic calendar is in the spring, during the time of fertility. It is the best time for marriage- even the gods get married at this time. The Indian festival of Holi is celebrated at this time which has a connection to both Agni and lord Krishna: A nod to the marriage contract- a rite of karmic purification and love. Holi culminates on the full moon tomorrow (Wednesday). Today is a good day for sealing contracts that you want to last. Plant seeds today (bija) and put your desires in the ground. Pursue dharmic works. Commit to your Self on a new level and take a step towards your goals. |
