In this waxing Moon cycle, Sun leaves its sign of debilitation where a certain slow, inward climb has been present. The tight conjunction of Sun and Mercury continues as Sun and Mercury leap almost simultaneously into Scorpio on November 16th. Scorpio is known for its depth, deep inner power and passions. The inward focus of the past cycle deepens, clarifies, and transforms in the cycle ahead. The combustion of Sun and Mercury continues through December 6th- when Mercury moves to Sagittarius. With Sun and Mercury continuing to travel in close proximity, the mental body stays hot, focused, critical and oriented towards order and organization. Use this time to gain clarity and attend to finances, old karmas, shadow work and stories from the past. Mental and imaginal realms will be illuminated. What is coming to the light? Though Sun and Mercury will no longer be hemmed in by malefics, however they will conjunct Saturn in Scorpio and receive drishti from Ketu. Sensitivity is high in the coming cycle and we will all benefit from extra rest, self care and attention to the four bodies. Go slow and don't force. This is also a prime opportunity to attend to physical and mental bodies and deepen the mind/body connection. With mental body rigidity and resistance present, use the physical body as a resource for staying in the present, rather than traversing the past. All four bodies- spiritual, mental, emotional and physical- will be extra sensitive in this cycle. Pushing, forcing or fighting this will lead to unnecessary struggles and obstacles. Health issues are a reminder to slow down and listen more deeply. Mental and emotional body struggles are a request to look at parts of yourself that need your attention. Spiritual concerns request deeper surrender and trust. Gather resources and extra support for this cycle and notice where you are resisting or refusing the nourishment you need for safety and support. Relationships continue to prove insightful and a potent mirror for inner growth and healing. In this cycle it's vital that illusions are clarified, brought to the surface and transformed. Notice where you are staying out of integrity and giving your power away. Focus on inner support and stability rather than mindlessly pleasing, dis-empowering yourself, and deflecting the nourishment you need. As debilitated Venus continues through Virgo, conjunct Mars and Rahu, shadow work intensifies. This is a time to be diligent with relationships, feelings, creativity and finances. Both Sun and Virgo are debilitated until the 16th of November. Our light source, Sun, and the life force energy within, Venus, are vulnerable. This is not a time to push the physical body. Take care of your health diligently. This Venus cycle will proved challenging to all things Venus, in that you may miss or neglect resources for support due to Rahu's clouded vision. Simultaneously there will be opportunities to strip away the veils of illusion that are holding you back from fully being nourished by our connections, creative powers, finances, relationships and commodities. Challenge is always an opportunity for deepening change and transformation- so if you notice issues and obstacles, look beneath the surface. Look beneath your mundane existence and take note of the old stories and paradigms running you on auto pilot. How are these stories influencing how you connect as well as who and what you connect to? The lack of clarity and certainty in this Venus cycle is prevalent, yet we can choose how to respond to the calamities, discord and discomfort. Do you further separate and disconnect yourself, or do you lean in, find ways to deepen connection and get your deeper needs met? It will be necessary to strive for balance- inner and outer. One of the ways this can be supported is through stringent self care and taking care of your needs on the four levels of your being- mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. The conjunction of debilitated Venus and shadow node Rahu can increase the use of intoxicants and "feel good" remedies that mask your ability to deeply feel. Old patterns with drugs, alcohol, sugar, food etc. can be activated at this time so be mindful of what the underlying needs are. These addictive patterns are a cry for deeper nourishment on some level of your being. How can you get your needs met in healthy, balanced and nourishing ways? What support do you need for your process? Ask for guidance, support and assistance. Deepen your relationship with self and others. There is an opportunity for deep healing in this cycle if we choose to step towards this as Virgo correlates to the sixth house of healing and healer. The continued conjunction of debilitated Venus, Mars and Rahu, provide a heated and potentially challenging combination. Conflicts and fiery emotions may be felt. What is the root of the anger? What is the underlying need? What passions are stirring that need your attention and focus? There is a powerful opportunity in this cycle to address anger, rage and the often toxic cycle of this emotion. If the underlying root cause, or need, can be found and honored, an unraveling can take place. In the unraveling, there is opportunity for healing and transformation to arrive. Relationships are vulnerable and fragile in this cycle. Think before speaking, more importantly pause, wait, and take time for reflection before responding. It will be too easy to speak words that you may later regret. If you are feeling strong emotions, pause for 24 hours at least before responding. Give yourself time to meditate, contemplate and release the emotions before sharing your thoughts, needs or motives. At the same time, this can be a powerful cycle of healing for those inclined to do the inner work this time period will provoke. Healing with anger, relationships, power and authority figures are possible. Let your stomach guide you and invite in opportunities for healing your relationships with inner power and emotions, while helping you integrate and digest the messages arriving. Relationship challenges are opportunities for mirroring what we need and also reminding you what needs to shift within you. As Eckhart Tolle says, "Relationships do not cause pain & unhappiness. They bring out the pain & unhappiness that is already in you." As challenges arrive, identify parts of yourself that need to grieve and release. Past hurts, pains, disappointments, sorrows and heavy emotions are all places within you that didn't get the necessary love that was needed. By attending to these parts of your being now, you can help to move, shift, heal and transform the old pain, bring it to the light and allow this part of yourself to be well fed now. Let yourself grieve and peel back the layers of pain that are asking for your attention. Your are being offered powerful opportunities for releasing the sadness and losses that are masked by anger, rage, and frustration. Lean in and tend to these parts of yourself with compassion, rather than resistance and avoidance. *Horoscopes are based on your Vedic (sidereal) rising sign. You can also check your Moon and Sun signs for further insight. Do the same with your Navamsa signs for further clarity. Do not use these horoscopes with your Western sign (Tropical) as there is likely no correlation. These horoscopes are meant to be used as a broad overview of the current transits and obviously do not address the specifics of an individual’s unique chart Aries: Continue to rest and rejuvenate, attending to the relationship with self and others. The vulnerability and challenges are an invitation to dive deeper within. As Sun and Mercury move into your 8th house on the 16th, the necessity for rest turns to a deeper need for meditation and transformation. This is coming cycle is considered a low energy, inward point for you and must be honored as such. Use this for making necessary shifts with mind, emotions, body and soul. Ask for extra support and guidance. Take intentional care of children and partners while you attend to and clean up old karmas. Taurus: Take the inner healing that you’ve gained and transfer this knowing into the mirror your relationships give you. Let relationships become your new channel for growth and wisdom. What challenges are you facing? What resistance? What parts of your self are refusing to receive nourishment and support? Let passion, creativity, power and purpose feed you. Trust your steps and what you are attracting into your life. Notice where the fear gets in the way of your trust. Ask for guidance and support when you feel stuck. Gemini: So much passion and conviction within your heart right now! There is focus, clarity and deep desire being activated. There is also an intense critic and shadow work to uncover and awaken. Where are you keeping yourself stuck and hidden in the illusions of your being? Where are you refusing to feel and deepen your emotional body wisdom? In order to deepen your container of receiving, you must open and purge the channels of pain, obstacles and challenges. How is your critic keeping you from the nourishment you crave? How does this serve you? Use this cycle for deeper healing and transformation. Get support for your process. Cancer: The softness and vulnerability within the heart, moves into passion and power after the 16th. Ground this new awareness and emotional body wisdom within the body and let it guide you to connect with deeper parts of your being. Use embodiment resources to land in the physical body, while gaining a more intimate spiritual connection simultaneously. Use this as a resource form increasing creativity, courage and inner healing. Keep moving towards more embodied forms of nourishment. What are you learning about your needs versus your wants? They are different and require different attention. Leo: Nourishment, support and guidance are a forceful and potent part of your path right now. Share your discoveries and learnings with others and offer your resources. Keep aligning with your inner guru and step more forcefully into support and guidance roles. Speak and share your wisdom with purpose and conviction. When doubts and confusion emerge, challenges or obstacles, land in your heart center, your inner knowing. Let your emotional body wisdom be your tuning fork. Are you aligned with your truth? Can you keep landing back in your heart even when the mind pulls you out with its distractions? Notice where this feeling of truth arrives in your body. Keep coming back. Virgo: There is excitement and worldly gains as well as confusion, uncertainty and fear. Who wins you over? Where are you resisting and refusing nourishment and support? It’s time to step more courageously into action and use your creative gifts for increasing deeper trust and resiliency. You are learning a lot about yourself from travel, silence, alone time and retreats. Harvest and attend to your passion and start sharing your heart wisdom in more authentic ways. Write, paint, dance, create! There is healing to be had! Libra: Let the softening that you’ve been uncovering allow you to land in deeper nourishment. How are you gathering and allowing more support from others and from spirit? Let you physical body wisdom be a primary resource for harvesting deeper wisdom and guidance. Get clear about your needs and focus on the essentials. What are you ingesting and allowing into your life? Purify and clean up what enters your temple. Get passionate and attentive to your healing practices. Allow plenty of time for rest, meditation, retreats and silence. Let ideas, imagination and creativity flow! Scorpio: Take the nourishment you’ve received from your travels, alone time and silence, into your life offerings. Share and connect, create and serve. Offer your wisdom and guidance in more concrete, tangible ways. Be seen, get noticed and share your work with the world. Be a bright light. Stay focused on gains and receiving, while noticing how challenges can be a resource for healing and transformation. Gain through relationships, friendships and clients. Ask for what you truly want and take action steps to make it happen. Start getting the support you really need. Sagittarius: Take time for extra rest, meditation, silence and retreats. As Sun and Mercury dip into your 12th house on the 16th, it's time to lay low and turn inward. Gather spiritual resources to support your inner work and seek balance between inner and outer realms. Work continues to feel challenging. Lean in to your passion. What messages does it share about your needs? You are still cleaning up your heart and emotional body, let the release flow and move. Let the physical body be a spiritual channel for you. Deepen your connection with spirit though landing and grounding in your physical body. Capricorn: The efforts and challenges of the past month begin to harvest richer rewards now. You’re learning how vital it is to slow down, stop, pause, land and ground. Much of this has been out of force, in order to help you re-balance, re-calibrate a healthier set point for yourself. Let this slower, more inward focus be your new default mode. What does it feel like in your physical body? What sensations tell you when you have arrived within? Let these messages continue to guide you home. Continue your dharmic focus and activate it through passion, clarity and focus. Gains are arriving. Are you able to harvest and receive these gifts? Aquarius: Keep cutting out the unnecessary and unwanted. Only invite in the nourishment, support and guidance that truly empowers you. Take your inner wisdom and turn it outward. Offer your teachings and support to others. Use the physical and spiritual bodies to deepen your offerings. Bravely go into your own darkness, karmas and obstacles, in order to transform from the inside out. Use fear, anger and desire as resources for change, healing and self development. How can you deepen your self compassion? Surrender, loosen the grips of your shadow with conscious attention and transformational tools. Pisces: Relationships continue to prove challenging, yet insightful. The learning curves are strong right now. What are you harvesting from these obstacles? What resources are you gathering to support your inner development? Notice how your inner strength is deepening and healing is taking place within. Use your inner power as a resource and lean into your gut wisdom. Awaken your dharmic focus in the coming Sun cycle. Take your inner wisdom into teaching, sharing, guiding and supporting others. Rely on your heart wisdom. Need some extra guidance and clarity? I am scheduling January sessions. Schedule a session with me.

Moon is waning until Thursday. New Moon is on Friday in the early morning hours- in Gemini and Ardra nakshatra.
Monday, June 23rd Moon transits Aries and moves from Bharani to Krittika nakshatra at 12:30 CDT, enlivening the Sun and Agni- the fire of life. Internal and external flames intensify, heat and passion, anger and aggression are fanned. These energies are heightened as a result of Mars's direct gaze 8 houses away. With Sun now in Ardra nakshatra in close proximity to retrograde Mercury, the mind is likely to have an edge to it. Have you noticed? Or are you blaming it on everyone else? Is the past haunting you? Moon will be sandhi the majority of the afternoon, moving to the edge of Aries. It jumps into Taurus at 18:48 CDT, assuming its position and degrees of exaltation. A rare example of how sandhi degrees (when a planet is in the gap between signs) can actually be a strong placement. Read more about sandhi in my recent article: Living in Limbo. Moon joins Venus in Taurus, who is nicely placed in its own sign right now. Moon is friendly to everyone, however, Venus isn't fond of the Moon. These two, however, are out of the gaze of the other planets right now so this will allow them to share and shine. Look for some strong waves of creativity, inner flow and fluidity, movement and grace. Dance, sing, make art. Let your creative acts stoke your inner flames tonight. Watch how you relate to others and don't lash out. Instead, use your emotions to deepen your inner relationship. Tuesday, June 24th Moon is exalted and in Krittika nakshatra enlivening the Sun and Agni. Heat and fire rule the first half of the day. Work with themes of cutting, clearing, purification and transformation. Just after midday, Moon moves into Rohini nakshatra at 13:48 CDT, having crossed over Venus by this point. In this position, Moon moves from exaltation into mulitrikona, but is still a strong placement for it, out of the gaze of other planets. Our creativity is intensified. Are ideas percolating and gathering steam? Keep a piece of paper and a pen near by and have your journal handy for doodles, sketches and list making. Take your sketches into dancing, let your dancing become paintings. Move, flow, and let the creativity move you and be moved by you. Sing, communicate, share, connect. Wednesday, June 25th The first half of the day, Moon continues through Rohini nakshatra. The creative suggestions from yesterday still apply. Keep a piece of paper and a pen near by and have your journal handy for doodles, sketches and list making. Take your sketches into dancing, let your dancing become paintings. Move, flow, and let the creativity move you and be moved by you. Sing, communicate, share, connect. As Moon moves into Mrigashirsha nakshatra at 15:28 CDT, instant change occurs. The pace of the deer and its swiftness carries us into action, movement and momentum. Can you feel the shift take place within you? Think in terms of action steps. Soma and Mars are enlivened with this nakshatra, life giving qualities surface and offer their sustenance. What life giving nourishment can you move towards? Pay attention for the messages maybe strong or they may be subtle. Thursday, June 26th Moon crosses into Gemini in the early hours of the morning at 04:26 am CDT, though still in Mrigashirsha nakshatra. It joins retrograde Mercury in this nakshatra and Sun in Ardra nakshatra. These three planets receive gaze from Rahu nine houses away, intensifying the mental/emotional edge and our shadow issues. Moon crosses directly over Mercury around 7:30 am CDT which will likely intensify the mental body tussle with the emotions. Make your daily to-do list over breakfast and if you can start your day with a more gentle approach, do it. Try meditation, gentle yoga, a quiet walk outdoors. This is a good day to count to ten before speaking and to get plenty of fresh air and physical movement. Get out of the head and into the body! Ready to take action? Join me for my final Cosmic Creative Self workshop today where we explore Mars and action steps. Venus moves into Rohini nakshatra at 17:08 CDT. Expect creativity to be flowing in the coming weeks! Get out your paints, dance, draw, sing, write. Share your work with others. Be nourished by your creativity and let others nourish you with theirs. This placement of Venus may help our sense of security and thriving. Let the abundance flow towards you and through you. Moon moves to Ardra nakshatra at 17:29 CDT as it nears the Sun. Emotions intensify with Rudra and Rahu heightened here, so watch yourself and don't let the mind get away with its usual shenanigans. Inner tracking will be important to avoid overwhelm. At this time, Moon is already well into the 15th tithi, the final phase of its waning cycle. Do a three level check in for greater awareness. Friday, June 27th Moon transits Gemini with retrograde Mercury and Sun. All receive drishti from a very sandhi Rahu. New Moon is at 3:08 am CDT while in Gemini and Ardra nakshatra. Ruled by Rudra and Rahu, Ardra nakshatra brings with it a certain intensity- whether through the emotions or through physical movement and change; think forcefulness. Rudra is connected to storms, storm energy, as well as prana as he is the father of the Maruts, or inner winds. Externally he manifests as a storm god; internally he manifests as the five types of Prana within the body. Harnessing the winds can be powerful for inner change or outer change. His association with anger and intense emotion is an example of his abilities with power. Anger after all is extremely powerful and is a form of passion and strength. How will you use this strength? This New Moon is not the silent, soft and quiet kind. For there is immense power available to us at this time. It is quiet and inward as any empty new Moon is, yet be mindful of the power available within this silence. What are you creating? Cultivating? And inviting in at this time? What is your relationship to the inner and outer winds? Start your day off with meditation, pranayama and yoga. Get the inner prana moving and in this new waxing cycle upon us, attend to the needs of the inner winds. Emotional well being is intimately related to physical well being. Use this coming cycle to attend to your inner dynamics. Work with emotions directly and note where the challenges arrive. Are you attending to your needs? Letting the mind run the show? Bypassing the emotions? Does the body have a message for you that you have been neglecting to listen to? Listen closely for clues and your inner wisdom. Do a three level check in for greater awareness. Moon moves to Punarvasu nakshatra at 19:49 CDT, enlivening Jupiter and Aditi energy. Saturday, June 28th Mars moves from Hasta nakshatra into Chitra nakshatra at 6:36 am CDT. Mars and Rahu are nearing each other as we prepare for their exact conjunction in the coming weeks. This is a very intense and charged time so be mindful of these energetics in general with regard to your Self, life and relationships. Mars will be in Chitra for roughly a month (through the end of July). This nakshatra is ruled by Mars (heat, passion, aggression, action) and the deity Vishvakarma. He is the "cosmic architect" who loves to create, build, plan and orchestrate. The action oriented association to the planet Mars (both within the nakshatra and by Mars's transit through Chitra) insures that foundations will be laid, steps will be taken and changes will be amplified. Par for the course as we look at the grande planetary shifts happening right now and in the coming weeks! Change is here! Moon transits Gemini with retrograde Mercury, and Sun and is in Punarvasu nakshatra. Aditi, mother of all goodness and unity is enlivened as well as the planet Jupiter. Perhaps you can feel the expansion and a greater smoothness enter your mind as a result of the Moon's shift. As it nears the gap midday, the softness heightens and offers an opening to us. What is coming through the portal for you? Jupiter is a sign away, exalted in Cancer, and can offer some awareness. Are you inviting it in yet? Are you in Houston? Join me at Bayou Bliss Yoga for my Jupiter workshop. Need a virtual workshop instead? Join me for my final Cosmic Creative Self workshop online tomorrow instead. Moon moves into Cancer, its own sign, joining exalted Jupiter there at 15:45 CDT. Both receive drishti from retrograde Saturn in this position. Jupiter has gained strength at this point and is now over the two degree mark which helps our sense of stability, expansion and wisdom. Jupiter and Moon basque in each others radiance as Moon crosses over him. They both offer a gentle awareness to us through heart, emotions, and expanded wisdom. Let it flow. Look for sweet balms of the heart and emotions today. What soothes, nurtures and flows toward you? Feeling restricted and collapsed? This can be from Saturn's gaze. Be easy with the opening. You don't have to force it. Just be willing to invite in, expand and grow. Moon moves into Pushya nakshatra at 22:26 CDT. Sunday, June 29th Moon transits its own sign of Cancer and Pushya nakshatra with exalted Jupiter. Both receive drishti from retrograde Saturn in this position. Jupiter has gained strength at this point and is over the two degree mark which helps our sense of stability, expansion and wisdom. Pushya provides nourishment from Brihaspati (a personified Jupiter) and the planet Saturn. The symbol is the udder of a cow, who offers nourishment to her calf. This is the nourishment palpable with Pushya nakshatra. What is flowing towards you? Away from you? What are you inviting in? Where is the flow being obstructed? Our nourishment and sense of nourishment is directly connected to how able we are to receive. This is a vulnerable position, unlike the position of giving, which is the power position. Today, think in terms of balancing both the give and receive and notice how vital they are to each other. They are truly interrelated functions required for getting our needs met from life, relationships and our environment. Using the metaphor of inhale and exhale, the dance of the life force can be a potent tool of awareness. Use my Jupiter expand/contract workshop for more insights. Ready to take action? Join me for my final Cosmic Creative Self workshop today where we explore Mars and action steps. Was this post helpful to you? Please share it! Have you signed up for my newsletter yet? Weekly, I send out vital jyotish resources that enliven creativity, consciousness and embodiment. Please sign up! Moon is in its waxing phase now (shukla paksha) and moves through Cancer, Leo and into Virgo this week.
Monday, 5.05 Moon transits Cancer, its own sign, and is in Pushya nakshatra today. Ruled by Brihaspati and the planet Saturn, there is nourishment attainable today- especially from things that are structured and established, old and enduring. Look to lineage and wisdom for guidance. Brihaspati is another name for Jupiter, priest to the gods, and wisest of the planets. The rules of Jupiter apply to Brihaspati as well. Read more about Jupiter in my Exalted Jupiter article. From this position in Cancer, the Moon receives drishti (gaze) from Saturn ten houses away, which can make the Moon feel depressed, saddened or unable to fully experience the nourishment present. If your mood is blue or indigo today, use self care as a valuable resource. Nourish your Self from the inside out. Do a "support audit" and make a list of all the places you are getting your needs met. Then give some gratitude for what you do have. Move your physical body and let the emotional body flow as well. Tuesday, 5.06 Moon is still in its own sign of Cancer today, but moves to Ashlesha nakshatra at 10:32 am CDT. Serpent energy is enlivened today through Sarpa. You might find support with worldly aspirations today, but a mischievous mind needs to be tempered. Watch your appetite! Are your cravings getting the best of you? Are your desires ruling your actions? Pay attention to the pressures you are putting on your self. Financially and otherwise. Cut back where you can. Play nice. Meditate and channel your desires into transcendence. "Anyone can hide. Facing up to things, working through them, that's what makes you strong." - Sarah Dessen Wednesday, 5.07 Moon moves to Leo and Magha nakshatra today at 13:26 CDT. Pitr and Ketu, both rulers of Magha, can bring flashes of insight and awareness today. It is a day of Sun and shining, with some sparks and fire as well! Several layers of Sun and Ketu are enlivened today. Leo is ruled by the Sun, the Moon is in its 9th phase (tithi) today called Navami, which is ruled over by the Sun as well. Currently we have an exalted Sun transiting Aries, sitting there with Ketu. Invite in the shine and move into the power and light, but avoid getting scorched. Invite in support, ideas and awareness that bring possibility and excitement. Pay special attention to the ancestors today and give your gratitude at the altar. Curb the ego. Thursday, 5.08 Keep your sunglasses on (as per yesterdays post) until 16:06 CDT, when Moon moves into Purvaphalguni, one of the most creative and fertile of the 27 nakshatras. This lunar constellation is ruled by Bhaga and Venus. Bhaga is one of the 12 Adityas, the children of goddess Aditi (Punarvasu nakshatra). Adityas rule over the resources we have in this life, the support available to us. With Venus exalted currently, this can be a day that offers a wealth of support from love, friendships and relationships, as well as through creativity and money. Luck and ample creativity are afoot on this day of Jupiter (Thursday)! Love and be loved. Create and share. "Love and you shall be loved". ~Ralph Waldo Emerson Friday, 5.09 The love continues to flow like jala (water) on this day of Venus (Friday). Moon stays in Purvaphalguni the majority of the day, moving into the latter half of the Phalguni stars at 18:21 CDT when it moves to Uttarphalguni. This star is ruled by Aryaman and the Sun. It's a place where love and partnerships, romance and sexuality, find more stability and sustainability. Aryaman is also connected to the ancestors and is pleased by things that sustain lineage (ie. marriage and children). Since ample creativity is palpable again today, channel it effectively and share the fruits of your labor with others. Create, co-create, dance and sing. Enjoy quality time with your family. Enjoy the life you are creating for your Self! A further creative boost comes today as Mercury moves to Rohini at 12:14 CDT. The mind is moving towards creativity and connection. Inspire and be inspired! "Creativity is contagious. Pass it on." - Albert Einstein Saturday, 5.10 Moon moves to Virgo just after midnight at 00:50 CDT, joining retrograde Mars here. Both planets get direct drishti (gaze) from exalted Venus seven houses away. Yesterday's themes persist today as well since the Moon stays in Uttarphalguni most of the day. At 20:02 CDT Moon moves to Hasta as it nears exact conjunction with Mars. Some may feel divine inspiration from the Universal Mother, Ma. Learn, expand and look for the support that is ever present. Give your gratitude. Take any mental/emotional tensions into art and creativity. Dancing and singing will prove valuable. Gaze at the Moon to cool your eyes tonight. Sunday, 5.11 Hasta nakshatra rules the day and on into the night. Savitr and the Moon are enlivened today. Savitr offers his guiding light and helps us awaken. Use Gayatri Mantra to assist you with this. Moon crosses Mars mid morning, but their tight conjunction separates closer to noon. Watch for the emotional heat and mental tension mentioned yesterday. Don't let the mind get overheated. Sharp insights and intuitive wisdom can be found through the awakening of Savitr today. Carve out space and time to listen and be present to what arises. Give your gratitude to the divine feminine and her abundant nature. Don't suppress the urge to dance, vocalize, sing and express today. Move your body, let your artistry flow, and find insights and wisdom in subtle messages. Studying jyotish is ideal today. Join me for my Jyotish Basics workshop from 12 to 1pm CDT. Tonight: howl at the Moon. Never miss a Moon Mind Calendar. Sign up for my newsletter. Moon moves through Virgo, Libra, Scorpio and into Sagittarius this week. Moon reaches its fullness on 4.15 at 2:41 CDT while in Libra. More details below as well as in my current planetary report + horoscopes for the waning Moon cycle. Monday, 4.14 Sun is now exalted in Aries, joining Ketu there as well. Sun is in weak degrees until Wednesday so try to get away with using less energy; don't push too hard. Moon finishes up its transit through Virgo today, crossing over Mars directly around noon (the hottest part of the day) and is in close degrees with him throughout the day. This can heat the emotions, create aggression and stir the Pitta. Watch your temper and emotions and if anger arrives, notice what boundaries you allowed to be crossed. Did you say yes, when you should have said no? Moon is in Hasta nakshatra the first part of the day which is ruled by Savitr. He grants us awakening, the dawning of awareness as well as increased creativity and healing potential through the hands. Be present to some stirring, some dawning within you today. What new understanding or insights arrive this morning? The Moon/Mars conjunction can also bring a deepened connection with the Divine Mother- notice where she gives her blessings. Use Gayatri Mantra to start your day. As Moon moves to Chitra at 12:10 CDT, the connection with Vishvakarma strengthens. He is the celestial architect, who helps our building and planning become actualized. He is especially connected to artisans and those wishing to expand their potential. This also marks Hanuman Jayanti, the celebration of Hanuman's birth. The festivities begin when the waxing Moon is at its fullest (15th tithi) and enters Chitra nakshatra during this particular season of the Vedic calendar. Hanuman is considered a Rudra (a god of intense strength and power) and overcame many obstacles and opponents (the rakshasa/demon Ravana and his army) out of love, devotion and service to Lord Raam and goddess Sita. May he serve as a reminder to us of what odds can be overcome, what power we each posses, and what love and devotion can accomplish. The lunar eclipse begins at 11:55 pm CDT as Moon reaches its fullness and crosses paths with the Sun. Tuesday, 4.15 Moon enters Libra just after midnight joining Rahu and retrograde Saturn there as well. It reaches its peak fullness at 2:41 am CDT while in Chitra nakshatra. The lunar eclipse reaches its maximum at 02:46am CDT and continues until 05:36 am CDT. With the direct gaze from Sun and Ketu in Aries, and Jupiter in Gemini, as well as an eclipse, this full Moon is one of intensity and a great collision of energies. It is a good time to evaluate where we are using sheer physical strength and stamina and where we are not effectively using beneficial mental strategy to help us achieve our long term goals and objectives. Become aware of how to do less, while maximizing your efforts. In other words, the mantra "less is more", is still pertinent to the day and to the weeks ahead. This is certainly a time of pruning and cutting out all that is unnecessary. More on the meaning of this full Moon for the coming waning cycle in my planetary report. Moon crosses directly over Rahu late morning. Moon moves to Swati nakshatra at 12:37 pm CDT (ending the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations) which is ruled by the planet Rahu and Vayu, the wind god. The mind and body will likely be clouded today so allow extra time for going about your day. Be careful while driving and traveling today especially. The lunar eclipse marks a delicate two week period until the solar eclipse on the 29th. In the Vedic tradition, this is not a time to take risks, start new endeavors, or to over-exert. It is a time, however, of turning inward, of meditation and contemplation, and a time to take extra care of the physical body with good routine etc. Wednesday, 4.16 Moon moves to Vishaka nakshatra at 12:35 pm CDT ruled by the dual natured god, Indragni and the planet Jupiter. Seek alliance and support today. Notice where you can make changes in your life to create greater assistance for your Self and get things done more efficiently. Are you forgetting to ask for what you need? Are you pushing too hard? Where are you resisting change? As Moon nears Saturn, it is extremely important and valuable to listen to our bodies for subtle insights. What messages is the body giving you? Thursday, 4.17 Moon finishes up its transit through Libra after crossing directly over retrograde Saturn in the wee hours of the morning, then moves to Scorpio at 6:17 am CDT. Moon is considered debilitated in Scorpio which makes the Moon extra sensitive. This sensitivity can be helpful for intuition and a refined awareness, however, it must be handled with care. As Moon moves into Anuradha nakshatra at 12:08 pm CDT, this sensitivity heightens, especially for the physical body and the mind/body connection. Stamina may be lower, so find ways to self care and treat the physical and mental bodies with TLC. The tendency, however, may be to do the opposite. Avoid getting lost in the details, try to zoom out and get a bigger picture if necessary. Reach out to friends and alliances for support and comfort. Work with the theme "giving and receiving." Friday, 4.18 Moon moves to Jyeshta nakshatra just before noon at 11:21 am CDT just as Sun nears exact conjunction with Ketu. The mind and body may be extra sensitive today so take this into consideration if irritations arise. With Indra and Mercury ruling this nakshatra, and the current planetary transits, it is an excellent time for self tracking. Likely the irritations in the mind will be a result of some physical need not being met. Can you trace the issue back to the need? Can you find a healthy way to get your need met? It may require self care strategies, alone time, and restructuring previous plans. You may also need to shift your relationships around. Do what it takes to preserve your mental comfort and physical support. Venus moves into Purvabhadra nakshatra today. We may notice an increase in relationship and financial support as a result over the next 12 days, while using a one pointed focus and agenda. This can also be a time of purification and change as well; allow the change, don't resist it. Saturday, 4.19 Moon moves to Sagittarius and into Mula nakshatra at 10:17 am CDT and receives direct drishti/gaze from Jupiter seven houses away in Gemini, retrograde Saturn in Libra, as well as retrograde Mars in Virgo. Mula is also a challenging nakshatra that often is responsible for a sense of chaos and dishevelment. Don't plan to be anywhere on time today- or expect to arrive in an orderly fashion. Best use of time and energy is with restorative measures for the mental, emotional and physical bodies. The rulers of Mula are Ketu and Nirrti (the dark goddess married to adharma- against dharma). She brings uprooting, change and removals, but the end results can be greater overall health and wellness. With Ketu and Sun in close degrees today and in Ashwini nakshatra respectively, this is a great day to pay special attention to the physical body, to use healing remedies and to put attention on self care regimens. Additionally, Mercury is weak in degrees in its sign of debilitation which requires careful navigation of the mental body, communication and decision making. Use your inner wisdom and go for silence today. Sunday, 4.20 Mercury moves to Aries at 6:56 am CDT, joining exalted Sun and Ketu there as well. Moon moves to PurvAshada nakshatra at 9:01 CDT. Apas the water goddess rules the day. Allow flow to happen. Where are you stopping fluidity in your life? Where is the resistance to movement, change, growth and new possibilities? Focus your efforts and attention on abundance, life giving support and your own vitality today. Right now it is all about self care. 4.7
The 8th day of Navaratri, dedicated to goddess Saraswati. Moon is on the wax (Shukla Paksha) and the week begins with Moon in the 8th tithi at the end of Gemini and Punarvasu nakshatra. At 16:41 CDT Moon enters the auspicious ninth tithi (navami) while sandhi in Gemini, but moves to Moon's own sign of Cancer at 16:47 CDT (still in Punarvasu). In Cancer, Moon receives drishti from Saturn which offers a restrictive energy as well as one pointed focus. Punarvasu, however, gives expansion, clarity and a sense of wholeness from the deity Aditi "mother of all goodness". Look for both in the second half of your day- a fixed mode of expansion with a clear trajectory. Moon moves to Pushya nakshatra at 23:31 CDT. 4.8 Pushya nakshatra is ruled by Saturn and Brihaspati (another name for Jupiter) and offers nourishment, support, usually by providing us with knowledge and awareness. Today is the final day of Navaratri which culminates with the celebration of Lord Raam's birthday, Raam Navami. This is a potent and powerful day of activation. As the previous eight days of Navaratri provided a complete inner overhaul. First with the tilling of our internal soil through clearing and purging (Durga), then came nourishment and support for our seeds (desires) through Lakshmi's abundance, and then finally wisdom and clarity and a wealth of creativity has been offered through Saraswati so that our desires may blossom into a rich harvest in the days and months to come. Raam then provides the power and dynamism to take these silent gifts of the Divine Mother into action so that they may truly actualize. Historically, this is the day Lord Raam was born in Ayodhya and so we give honor and praise to his life and name as well. He was the seventh incarnation of Vishnu. Jai Ram!! 4.9 Moon moves to Ashlesha nakshatra in the wee hours of the morning. This is sarpa's nakshatra, ruled by Mercury. Sarpas are snakes, connected to Rahu (as opposed to the other type of snake, Nagas, which are connected to Ketu). Sarpas are sly and cunning, but offer insights and bring wisdom through their occult studies. Be mindful off illusion, deception and overconfidence today- which are attributes of both Sarpa and Rahu's nature. Currently Mercury is transiting Pisces (conjunct Sun) and transiting Uttarabhadrapada nakshatra which is ruled by Ahirbudhnya, a naga. The mental/emotional body is getting a chance for clarity today with a higher purpose. Get clear on what you need to do and trust your intuitive powers. 4.10 Moon moves to Leo and Magha nakshatra at 05:15 CDT. Magha is ruled by Ketu and Pitr, which relates to the ancestors, particularly the father's lineage. Karamas with power and authority arrive with this nakshatra. Moon receives drishti from Venus here, currently in Satabisha nakshatra. Do good work and uphold dharma, but avoid being overly critical to your Self and others. Works steadily today, but don't push too hard. Where are you overly connected to power and authority? 4.11 At 07:42 CDT Moon moves to Purvaphalguni nakshatra which is ruled by Bhaga and the planet Venus. It's Friday, day of Venus, so expect some fruiting and flowering- assisted by Bhaga of course, who rules relationships, harmony and sexuality. Jupiter's drishti to Venus helps the heart feel more expansive and relationships to feel a bit more harmonious. Though, Rahu's drishti to Venus as well can give too much of a good thing, or misjudgement. Listen closely. Does it feel good to your heart? Emotions? Do you feel supported and nourished? Are your needs being met? Look for warning signs and back up if necessary. Don't rush in too quickly. Sun becomes sandhi late in the evening. 4.12 Moon moves to the latter half of Phalguni, Uttaraphalguni nakshatra at 09:43 CDT which is in the final portion of Leo. Ruled by Sun and Aryaman, there is still a connection to relationships, however, he's more connected to lasting relationships than Bhaga is. Aryaman wants love, commitment and family life to be harmonious. With Sun sandhi in Pisces, in Revati nakshatra (ruled by Mercury), the "Self" needs may be weak today. Do what's best for group harmony today. Shine through communication, verbal affirmations and keep group dynamics in mind. Speak sweetly. Moon moves to Virgo at 16:09 CDT joining retrograde Mars there as well. Retrograde Mars moves back into Hasta nakshatra at 18:25 CDT. 4.13 Debilitated Mercury moves into Revati nakshatra at 10:33 CDT, ruled by Pushan who gives nourishment and safe journeys. Shortly thereafter, Moon moves to Hasta nakshatra joining Mars there at 11:13 CDT. The Moon and Mars conjunction brings heat to the emotions and there is a heightened tension with the mental body simultaneously as they are in a Mercury ruled sign (Virgo) receiving direct drishti from a sandhi Sun and debilitated Mercury. If tempers flair, it's probably due to pushing for too much, forcing an agenda that needs to be re-evaluated and having expectations that are too high. Today is calling for downsizing in a big way. As we near the Lunar Eclipse on the 15th (and Hanuman Jayanti), we need to have emotional/mental balance at the front of our needs list. Where can you do less and lower your expectations of your Self and others? Sun moves to Aries (its home of exaltation) for the next month at 20:42 CDT. This is a powerful placement and causes us to use our brute strength and the physical body to accomplish goals and agendas. But does the body comply? Do the mental and emotional bodies say yes as well? With the lunar eclipse and Full Moon arriving next week, we near the delicate two week period between eclipses (Annual solar eclipse on the 29th). This is a time to really be cognizant of working smarter, not harder. Though plenty of temptations will arise. More on all of this in next week's Planetary Transit + Horoscope Report.
