The March New Moon arrives on the 27th at 20:58 Mountain Time while Moon transits Pisces and the constellation UttaraBhadra. This is a particularly powerful new Moon as it marks the end of a year long cycle, and the opening of a brand new year ahead. In the Vedic Calendar, this new Moon ushers in the Vedic Lunar New Year as well. Traditionally charts are cast for the year ahead, predicting the flavor and meaning of the upcoming year-long cycle. This happens every year in the Vedic month of Chaitra. This new cycle is a Hemalamba year- markedly different than the previous Durkmukhayear which was filled with challenge, calamity and obstacles. This new Hemalamba year will provide more strength, material resources and a drive to succeed in the relative plane of existence. It is a time to overcome setbacks with clarity, determination and empowerment. The ancestors, or Manes, rule this cycle, which requires that you honor your lineage and the desires of your familial line. What needs are surfacing? How can you honor your ancestors more fully? What dharmic tasks need to be honored? * All timing is Mountain Standard Time.

Amavasya is the empty Moon, or new Moon- ripe with potential, fertility and possibility. It is always connected to Pitr, the god of the ancestors, particularly the father's lineage. Months of provocative themes have been emerging around the masculine, father, patriarchy and misogyny. Months of confrontation with power, strength, empowerment and the inner authority have emerged in brutal, challenging ways. Inner conflicts have intensified with the masculine and feminine. These themes have shown up in relationship dynamics, losses, pains and struggles, and with inner and outer needs. A new balance is arriving, but not without painful restructuring. This new Moon is particularly poignant and life-altering. Are you disconnected from your First Chakra? Mars has barely moved to the other side of Ketu at this time, narrowly breaking the many months of upheaval caused by the Kala Sarpa yoga effects. Sun has also just moved out of the chaotic and challenging lunar constellation, Mula, and into the watery PurvaAshada nakshatra. Hasta nakshatra is on the Eastern horizon at the exact time of the new Moon, encouraging a dawning through all of these transformations and changes. .
