Mind Your Moon ::: Moon Mindfulness
Moon is exalted in Taurus and transits Krittika nakshatra. Moon joins Venus and Jupiter here as well- Venus in Krittika nakshatra and Jupiter in Mrigashirsha nakshatra. Krittika is ruled by Agni, the fire of life. His job is to burn, purify, clarify and transform. Krittika is known for its cutting ability, as the Sanskrit meaning is razor. It is through our fire offerings (yagyas) that they are transformed and turned into food for the gods. It is through eating that the stomach fire (agni) transforms food into sustenance for life. Agni helps us digest the senses, our environment and our experiences, as well as the knowledge that we receive. He is the omnipotent tool of digestion on every level. Agni is literally an intermediary between human-consciousness and that of god-consciousness. In this way he is also connected to the Ajna-Chakra, the third eye.
There may be an experience of exactness, of clear awareness today and also you may feel a certain expansive quality. Let the dust from these last few weeks settle today and notice if you can experience a new understanding with all the details. Use today to soften- the heart, the mind, the ego- three of our greatest resources for growth. Creativity abounds right now. Let your pulse be on the creative flow and use it to digest and transform the pieces that may still be hot and firey within. Use your art as an offering.
Akshaya Tritiya :::
This is considered one of (if not the most) auspicious days in the Vedic Calendar. There have been many questions about the timing of this special day for us in the US. (Thank you Catherine for your insights!) Both Sun and Moon must be exalted with Moon in the 3rd Tithi (lunar phase) in the waxing/bright half for Akshaya Tritiya to occur. For CDT, this special timing will start on 5.11 at 23:49 and continue until 16:49 on 5.12 at which point the Moon will move to Gemini and will not longer be exalted in Taurus.
Akshaya Tritiya is a powerful day for starting new beginnings- those things that we want to last. It is said that on Akshaya Tritiya, what we offer will be returned in infinite supply. This is a day to take bold action steps with your endeavors, start your new business, make prayers, offerings of love, and anything that you wish to receive back in abundant supply. Use Sunday the 12th for these sacred acts.
