Moon transits Sagittarius while in Mula nakshatra. Moon is in its last tithi of the waning cycle, ruled by Rahu. Mula is ruled by the planet Ketu as well as Nirrti, the wife of adharma (against dharma). She does not follow Natural Law and causes one to sin. Known for uprooting things, causing disaster and dishevelment- at the least. Arguably though she can offer great insights- mostly with what is not working, what needs to be removed and let go of- as Mula's ruler Ketu points to. With the drishti coming to the Moon from Jupiter, Mars and Saturn, while conjunct Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius, there is intense energy and pressure on emotions and mental faculties today. This is a great time to be healthfully radical in your approach to the day (and night) while thinking in terms of "less is more". This could be a lovely spiritual New Years Eve, or a toxic mess. Most will over do it.
Moon moves to PurvaAshada nakshatra at 23:37 pm CST.
Once the Moon moves to PurvaAshada nakshatra (joining Mercury and Sun here), the asura (demon) energy will heighten and could hinder our better judgement. Asura's can rule our negative thoughts as well as intoxicants. With three planets in PurvaAshada- ruled by Apas, the water goddess, and the planet Venus- being especially cautious with overindulgence is truly warranted. On the other hand, this can provide a powerful placement for creating a fresh start, sewing ones seeds of desires and purification- depending on where we put our actions/karmas.
New Moon is at 05:14 am CST.
Use water as a symbolic act of clearing and cleaning today. Ritual baths, self care practices, natural spring water can be used intentionally for purification. Water comes from fire (Apas comes from tejas) which is why heat brings dew drops at dawn or perspiration when we exercise etc. Including both fire and water in your purification rituals will be ideal. You will probably notice an excessive number of New Years resolution joggers out and about today
taking advantage of the apas/tejas relationship! ;)
