Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
05.17 Moon is still in its own sign of Cancer transiting Aslesha nakshatra until 17:03 CDT when it moves to Leo and Magha nakshatra. Ruled by the deity Sarpa, Aslesha has to do with navigating deception, illusion and over confidence as well as the positive and negative attributes of snake energy. Snake energy can take several forms- like the expression of the lunar nodes, Rahu and Ketu. Rahu is more the Sarpa energy of Ahlesha, where as Ketu takes on the naga energy which is connected to the Pisces nakshatra Uttarahadrapada. Though as worldly beings, not everything Rahu brings to us is a negative, the desires of Rahu and Ketu are different and thus manifest for us as opposite extremes. Understanding the nature of these two "planets" will help you navigate their illusive natures as well as their possible effects on you. The Sarpa energy is about uncovering, unveiling and navigating the realms of deception, illusion, occult and mystical studies. Not a bad thing if used properly, and if there's enough awareness to support the sustainable expansion in other ways. If not, we are left with what I refer to as a "mind F*ck." Unraveling a "mind F*ck" can be a full time job. This nakshatra is about diving deep, yet staying out of the delusions and illusions that can weasel their way into your mind. Stay out of the trickery today, avoid snake charmers and snake poison. Get lost in the transcendent instead through meditation, dance, art and bhakti. Mercury moves to Rohini nakshatra where Venus is as well today at 12:29 CDT. Mind and creativity move into more harmony and synchronization. Direct this flow towards Self expansion and note what begins to activate for you- especially once Moon moves to Leo later today and most of tomorrow.

Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
05.02.13 Moon is waning (dark half) and transits Capricorn. It moves from Sravana nakshatra to Dhanishta at 15:11 CST. Sravana is ruled by Vishnu (as well as the Moon) and is connected to expansion and all-pervasiveness. Vishnu is everywhere like akasha (space) and he upholds dharma. Dharma is upheld by knowledge which is transmitted through akasha. A three-in-one quality exists here. Similarly, Vishnu took three steps to traverse "the three realms"- earth, sky (cosmos) and heaven (universe). Two of these steps are visible, but the third is beyond the vision of mortals or animals. There are also three symbols for Sravana- three footprints (in reference to traversing three realms), a trident (Vishnu's power) and an ear (the transfer of dharma through akasha as well as the oral tradition). Sravana can bring fame, notoriety, expansion of consciousness, dharmic pursuits, positions of power and fortune. Not surprisingly, it is a moveable nakshatra but ephemeral- it easily changes its nature. It is a constellation that can benefit one's own welfare as well as others. Today there is powerful movement and change likely. With Moon in Capricorn, a sign ruled by Saturn who is currently sitting with Rahu in Libra, the Rudra energy of these planet's dynamic comes into play for today. Mars rules Capricorn as well and is currently conjunct Venus (now sandhi- in weak degrees), and Ketu, Sun and Mercury- all in Aries. (Check this week's horoscopes to see the tendencies of this impact on your rising sign). The mind and intuition will be stirred. Which way will the winds take you? Aim for expansion, focused awareness, and dharmic pursuits. Connect with mind, body and spirit. Utilize yoga, pranayama and meditation for harmonizing the physical body, mental body and emotional body. Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
04.25.13 Moon transits Libra in Swati nakshatra. It is Hanuman Jayanti today- Hanuman's birthday celebration- as well as a partial lunar eclipse. Full moon is at 14:57 CST and the eclipse is right after. Though it is not visible from the US, it is still advised to stay out of it, to eat lightly, and use this time as a spiritual time. See this week's horoscopes for more. Swati nakshatra is ruled by Vayu, the wind god and also the planet Rahu. Moon is transiting Libra where Rahu and Saturn are sitting as well- Saturn is currently in Swati nakshatra, Rahu in Vishaka (read more about this energy via my article). Rahu and Saturn together create storm energy, and Vayu is known for his stormy breath. Though movement with Vayu is inevitable, it's not always clear what direction he might take you. We can take Vayu to be the pranic winds within the physiology, Nature's winds associated with the weather, the Rudra energy of the storm gods and the change/calamities that they bring, the breath of the gods, impeller of life itself (prana), and also the essence of speech. Hanuman was the son of Vayu and is known for his immense strength, courage and ability to overcome obstacles through his power and big heart. Vayu and his forces can take you far, but it is essential to adjust your sails properly in order to travel in the direction you wish to go. The rest is deep surrender. 04.16.13 Day six of Navaratri and last day of Maha Lakshmi. Moon is in Gemini transiting Ardra nakshatra. Ardra is ruled by the storm god, Rudra, who was born from the Creator's anger. He is connected to storms, calamities, natural disasters, sickness, disease and intense emotion. This momentum is connected to Prana- life force energy. Rudras are connected to the Maruts (winds) both internally and externally. This can be expressed as the fierce winds of Nature or the five types of Prana within the body. We can also associate Rudra with healers, since they are near disease, sickness and suffering at all times. Disease is usually connected to Prana in some capacity. The strength of Rudra is a powerful force- positive or negative. Movement brings change regardless of the circumstances. How we direct our sails will determine which direction we go. Rudra nakshatra is ruled by Rahu and currently Rahu sits with retrograde exalted Saturn (causing debilitation) in the sign of Libra. This combination creates storm energy. Rahu gives drishti today to Moon sitting in Gemini which is ruled by a debilitated Mercury transiting Pisces. The Rudra energy of Rahu and Saturn gives drishti to Aries where the fiery exalted Sun, Mars (in own sign) and Ketu (explosions/sudden shock) and Venus (in an enemy's sign) sit. Be careful and have compassion for your Self and others. Lay low and turn this energy back onto the Self. Turn up the fire on your Sadhana. On this last day of goddess Maha Lakshmi in the nine days of Mother Divine celebration, may we remember to spread abundant love, and may it flow continuously from our hearts and minds. May our coin purses be filled with Lakshmi's Divine Treasures and may we share this energy freely. Om Shanti* Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
03.23.13 Moon transits Ashlesha nakshatra today in its own sign of Cancer with an aspect from Saturn still. Ashlesha is ruled by Sarpa, a serpent. The serpent energy is alive and well here, but not all snakes are harmful. Some of the serpent energy can be used to gain wisdom, occult and mystical knowledge. Other serpent energy can turn deceitful, be dark and do harm. Since the lunar nodes Rahu and Ketu represent serpent energy (Rahu is the head/Ketu the tail) we can see how the serpent energy can strike. Is your inner serpent obsessive and shadowy or is it bright and searching for the ultimate truth? With Ashlesha, you decide. Today, search for the truth, the gems of wisdom within. Heal the heart and mind and don't let the shadows mislead you. Stay away from poisons and watch out for hypnotizing serpent energy. Coil and uncoil. Creep and crawl. Slither and SSsss. Do a snake dance. |
