Moon is waning until Thursday. New Moon is on Friday in the early morning hours- in Gemini and Ardra nakshatra.
Monday, June 23rd Moon transits Aries and moves from Bharani to Krittika nakshatra at 12:30 CDT, enlivening the Sun and Agni- the fire of life. Internal and external flames intensify, heat and passion, anger and aggression are fanned. These energies are heightened as a result of Mars's direct gaze 8 houses away. With Sun now in Ardra nakshatra in close proximity to retrograde Mercury, the mind is likely to have an edge to it. Have you noticed? Or are you blaming it on everyone else? Is the past haunting you? Moon will be sandhi the majority of the afternoon, moving to the edge of Aries. It jumps into Taurus at 18:48 CDT, assuming its position and degrees of exaltation. A rare example of how sandhi degrees (when a planet is in the gap between signs) can actually be a strong placement. Read more about sandhi in my recent article: Living in Limbo. Moon joins Venus in Taurus, who is nicely placed in its own sign right now. Moon is friendly to everyone, however, Venus isn't fond of the Moon. These two, however, are out of the gaze of the other planets right now so this will allow them to share and shine. Look for some strong waves of creativity, inner flow and fluidity, movement and grace. Dance, sing, make art. Let your creative acts stoke your inner flames tonight. Watch how you relate to others and don't lash out. Instead, use your emotions to deepen your inner relationship. Tuesday, June 24th Moon is exalted and in Krittika nakshatra enlivening the Sun and Agni. Heat and fire rule the first half of the day. Work with themes of cutting, clearing, purification and transformation. Just after midday, Moon moves into Rohini nakshatra at 13:48 CDT, having crossed over Venus by this point. In this position, Moon moves from exaltation into mulitrikona, but is still a strong placement for it, out of the gaze of other planets. Our creativity is intensified. Are ideas percolating and gathering steam? Keep a piece of paper and a pen near by and have your journal handy for doodles, sketches and list making. Take your sketches into dancing, let your dancing become paintings. Move, flow, and let the creativity move you and be moved by you. Sing, communicate, share, connect. Wednesday, June 25th The first half of the day, Moon continues through Rohini nakshatra. The creative suggestions from yesterday still apply. Keep a piece of paper and a pen near by and have your journal handy for doodles, sketches and list making. Take your sketches into dancing, let your dancing become paintings. Move, flow, and let the creativity move you and be moved by you. Sing, communicate, share, connect. As Moon moves into Mrigashirsha nakshatra at 15:28 CDT, instant change occurs. The pace of the deer and its swiftness carries us into action, movement and momentum. Can you feel the shift take place within you? Think in terms of action steps. Soma and Mars are enlivened with this nakshatra, life giving qualities surface and offer their sustenance. What life giving nourishment can you move towards? Pay attention for the messages maybe strong or they may be subtle. Thursday, June 26th Moon crosses into Gemini in the early hours of the morning at 04:26 am CDT, though still in Mrigashirsha nakshatra. It joins retrograde Mercury in this nakshatra and Sun in Ardra nakshatra. These three planets receive gaze from Rahu nine houses away, intensifying the mental/emotional edge and our shadow issues. Moon crosses directly over Mercury around 7:30 am CDT which will likely intensify the mental body tussle with the emotions. Make your daily to-do list over breakfast and if you can start your day with a more gentle approach, do it. Try meditation, gentle yoga, a quiet walk outdoors. This is a good day to count to ten before speaking and to get plenty of fresh air and physical movement. Get out of the head and into the body! Ready to take action? Join me for my final Cosmic Creative Self workshop today where we explore Mars and action steps. Venus moves into Rohini nakshatra at 17:08 CDT. Expect creativity to be flowing in the coming weeks! Get out your paints, dance, draw, sing, write. Share your work with others. Be nourished by your creativity and let others nourish you with theirs. This placement of Venus may help our sense of security and thriving. Let the abundance flow towards you and through you. Moon moves to Ardra nakshatra at 17:29 CDT as it nears the Sun. Emotions intensify with Rudra and Rahu heightened here, so watch yourself and don't let the mind get away with its usual shenanigans. Inner tracking will be important to avoid overwhelm. At this time, Moon is already well into the 15th tithi, the final phase of its waning cycle. Do a three level check in for greater awareness. Friday, June 27th Moon transits Gemini with retrograde Mercury and Sun. All receive drishti from a very sandhi Rahu. New Moon is at 3:08 am CDT while in Gemini and Ardra nakshatra. Ruled by Rudra and Rahu, Ardra nakshatra brings with it a certain intensity- whether through the emotions or through physical movement and change; think forcefulness. Rudra is connected to storms, storm energy, as well as prana as he is the father of the Maruts, or inner winds. Externally he manifests as a storm god; internally he manifests as the five types of Prana within the body. Harnessing the winds can be powerful for inner change or outer change. His association with anger and intense emotion is an example of his abilities with power. Anger after all is extremely powerful and is a form of passion and strength. How will you use this strength? This New Moon is not the silent, soft and quiet kind. For there is immense power available to us at this time. It is quiet and inward as any empty new Moon is, yet be mindful of the power available within this silence. What are you creating? Cultivating? And inviting in at this time? What is your relationship to the inner and outer winds? Start your day off with meditation, pranayama and yoga. Get the inner prana moving and in this new waxing cycle upon us, attend to the needs of the inner winds. Emotional well being is intimately related to physical well being. Use this coming cycle to attend to your inner dynamics. Work with emotions directly and note where the challenges arrive. Are you attending to your needs? Letting the mind run the show? Bypassing the emotions? Does the body have a message for you that you have been neglecting to listen to? Listen closely for clues and your inner wisdom. Do a three level check in for greater awareness. Moon moves to Punarvasu nakshatra at 19:49 CDT, enlivening Jupiter and Aditi energy. Saturday, June 28th Mars moves from Hasta nakshatra into Chitra nakshatra at 6:36 am CDT. Mars and Rahu are nearing each other as we prepare for their exact conjunction in the coming weeks. This is a very intense and charged time so be mindful of these energetics in general with regard to your Self, life and relationships. Mars will be in Chitra for roughly a month (through the end of July). This nakshatra is ruled by Mars (heat, passion, aggression, action) and the deity Vishvakarma. He is the "cosmic architect" who loves to create, build, plan and orchestrate. The action oriented association to the planet Mars (both within the nakshatra and by Mars's transit through Chitra) insures that foundations will be laid, steps will be taken and changes will be amplified. Par for the course as we look at the grande planetary shifts happening right now and in the coming weeks! Change is here! Moon transits Gemini with retrograde Mercury, and Sun and is in Punarvasu nakshatra. Aditi, mother of all goodness and unity is enlivened as well as the planet Jupiter. Perhaps you can feel the expansion and a greater smoothness enter your mind as a result of the Moon's shift. As it nears the gap midday, the softness heightens and offers an opening to us. What is coming through the portal for you? Jupiter is a sign away, exalted in Cancer, and can offer some awareness. Are you inviting it in yet? Are you in Houston? Join me at Bayou Bliss Yoga for my Jupiter workshop. Need a virtual workshop instead? Join me for my final Cosmic Creative Self workshop online tomorrow instead. Moon moves into Cancer, its own sign, joining exalted Jupiter there at 15:45 CDT. Both receive drishti from retrograde Saturn in this position. Jupiter has gained strength at this point and is now over the two degree mark which helps our sense of stability, expansion and wisdom. Jupiter and Moon basque in each others radiance as Moon crosses over him. They both offer a gentle awareness to us through heart, emotions, and expanded wisdom. Let it flow. Look for sweet balms of the heart and emotions today. What soothes, nurtures and flows toward you? Feeling restricted and collapsed? This can be from Saturn's gaze. Be easy with the opening. You don't have to force it. Just be willing to invite in, expand and grow. Moon moves into Pushya nakshatra at 22:26 CDT. Sunday, June 29th Moon transits its own sign of Cancer and Pushya nakshatra with exalted Jupiter. Both receive drishti from retrograde Saturn in this position. Jupiter has gained strength at this point and is over the two degree mark which helps our sense of stability, expansion and wisdom. Pushya provides nourishment from Brihaspati (a personified Jupiter) and the planet Saturn. The symbol is the udder of a cow, who offers nourishment to her calf. This is the nourishment palpable with Pushya nakshatra. What is flowing towards you? Away from you? What are you inviting in? Where is the flow being obstructed? Our nourishment and sense of nourishment is directly connected to how able we are to receive. This is a vulnerable position, unlike the position of giving, which is the power position. Today, think in terms of balancing both the give and receive and notice how vital they are to each other. They are truly interrelated functions required for getting our needs met from life, relationships and our environment. Using the metaphor of inhale and exhale, the dance of the life force can be a potent tool of awareness. Use my Jupiter expand/contract workshop for more insights. Ready to take action? Did you catch my Exalted Jupiter article, part 1? Find it here. The hype around Jupiter's transit is growing. There is much buzz, as there should be. Jupiter, the planet of abundance, wisdom, expansion and teaching is moving to its favorite sign, Cancer, for the next twelve months. Many are declaring this is a powerful and positive year for all. And while I agree that the trend and overall feeling of this transit will be expansive, I temper my predictions. The benevolence of Jupiter is well known, but he's not a lovely supportive gentleman to everyone, and we must contend with the other transits effecting him simultaneously. It will in fact be a mixed bag, a year with some ups and downs as always. What the planets and their ever changing dance reminds us is that nothing in life is all good, nor all bad. There's always a bit of both. This is the universe maintaining its balance and giving us ample opportunity for personal growth. When we expand too much, we must counter this with contracting. When we contract too much, we must learn to expand more. This dance of open and close is wrapped up in the nature of Cancer, fourth house matters, the heart and breath- our life force. As Jupiter, the expansive planet, moves into Cancer, he offers us an opportunity to experience an increase in this expansive quality, whether it's with heart, emotions, home matters, breath or other fourth house, Cancer related issues. In other words, it will be an expansive year emotionally and it can offer more comfort and nourishment to many of us. It will also teaching quite clearly about our emotions and how to dance with them more effectively. This expansive energy is tempered at times by aspects from Saturn (the planet of contraction, of slow growth, of grief and suffering). This aspect from Saturn asks us to cultivate a new relationship with our sense of balance, to find a new set-point for ourselves. Saturn, for better or for worse, always has our best interests in mind, even if it doesn't feel like it. If we pay attention to his ways, we can flow more smoothly in our lives. He will be protecting us from expanding too quickly or too much, so pay attention. Saturn is timing and timing is everything. Jupiter moves into Cancer on June 18th, 2014 at 20:23 CDT. It will take a little over 12 months for him to move through this Cancer; he moves to Leo on July 13th of 2015. While in Cancer, Jupiter will experience openings and closings, forward motion and backward motion, and move through three different nakshatras. These will of course be occurring with other planetary transits going on and will interact with our own unique charts in a variety of ways. Here's the breakdown: When Jupiter moves to Cancer on June 18th, he receives gaze (drishti) from a retrograde Saturn still transiting its sign of exaltation, Libra (in the Jaimini jyotish system, Saturn is considered debilitated as a result). Here in Cancer, Jupiter will still be in Punarvasu nakshatra, ruled by Aditi, the mother of all goodness, who provides us with an understanding of unification and universal awareness. This nakshatra is also ruled by the planet Jupiter, so we get the sense of expansion here. And yet a weak Saturn is giving his scrutiny and watchful gaze to Jupiter as he moves into his "happy place". The result? We may not be feeling as joyful and expansive as we would like. We will likely be re-tracing foundational steps still. Steps that are less about fun and opening to the "new" and more about what we "should" be doing, what is asked of us, and what our relationships are asking of us. This brings some guaranteed pressures and frustrations that will be the impetus for greater changes in the coming months. On 7.04.14, Jupiter moves to Pushya nakshatra. This is where we really begin to explore the dynamics of expand/contract. (Use my Exalted Jupiter workshop in order to learn more about this dynamic). Pushya is ruled by both Brihaspati (another name for Jupiter, personified) and the planet Saturn. He is connected to nourishment and support, knowledge and wisdom so expect this to be a turning point in your Exalted Jupiter transit experience. However, Jupiter will still be receiving drishti from a compromised Saturn at this time, yet the pressure from Saturn's gaze lightens and gets more forward momentum once Saturn goes direct on 7.20. His watchful gaze is present nonetheless, but we may begin to feel more hope for the future, more possibility and a greater sense of purpose when Saturn goes direct. Rahu and Ketu Change Signs Another lift might be felt as a result of Rahu and Ketu changing into Virgo and Pisces respectively on July 12th. Rahu getting out of Saturn's way, and out of Libra altogether, will lesson pressure, intensity and the stormy weather syndrome that has been plaguing so many of us as a result of the intense Rudra energy. Look for my Rahu/Ketu article coming out soon. From these new placements of Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu, new gazes are given. Jupiter will gaze at Ketu and Ketu will gaze back to him (though technically Ketu can not give drishti because he has no head, I have found Ketu's influence of gaze to give substantial effects). Ketu is a "planet" of moksha, liberation, cutting our attachments and asking us to let go of what we are holding on to. Jupiter is a planet of wisdom, the guru, or teacher, and asks us to expand our ideas and he pushes us towards growth. Jupiter will be giving his gaze to Ketu in Pisces, a sign that he rules, so we will be letting go, finding endings and cutting chords with wisdom and growth in mind. Letting go of relationships, and our attachments to them, will be a central theme. Many of us may feel like we have awoken from a great slumber during the coming months as we suddenly realize where we are overly attached, clinging, not clear with boundaries and needs, and possibly giving too much to others while neglecting ourselves. There is nourishment here, but we must work to get the comfort and support. Ketu strips away the veils of our illusion, but at least Jupiter's gaze insures that we can receive some awareness (and some level of comfort in that awareness) as a result. When Jupiter moves to Ashlesha nakshatra on 9.03, our serpent energy is enlivened as well as the planet Mercury. Mercury will be exalted in Virgo at this time and Rahu will be there as well. Some may feel mental confusion and overwhelm during the greater part of September, others will benefit from monetary wealth and support as well as a bit more notoriety. We all may be feeling some or all of these things. Tending to the mental body at this time will be paramount as it will likely be out of control and imbalanced. Saturn Moves to Scorpio As Saturn moves into Scorpio on 11.02, his drishti on Jupiter ends and the roles reverse; Jupiter gets to give his gaze to Saturn now. Finally, we may begin to take a long, deep breath, expand and grow with more leaps and bounds. A sense of opening may be felt, some new shift and guaranteed changes are here for each of us. The movement of Saturn into Scorpio is a powerful transit in and of itself, and will carry with it a deeply transformational current of change. Change that come from our depths; a new structure that removes our masks, our shadows, our vulnerabilities. Scorpio is the ultimate sign known for darkness, depth, mystery and deaths of all kind. You can read more about Scorpio and the 8th house in my How to Love a Scorpio article. Scorpio, however, is the sign that Moon is debilitated in and so we must realize that part of the structure, or construction/deconstruction, taking place for the 2.5 years of this next transit, will be centered around the emotions. Since Jupiter will be transiting the seat of emotions (Cancer), expect emotional work to be enlivened for the rest of the Jupiter transit as a result of Saturn's new home. This is perhaps where our greatest emotional work of this cycle really begins and intensifies. But before you bristle, remember that Jupiter is guiding us with wisdom and support. We will get our needs met if we are truly open and receptive to it. Jupiter Goes Retrograde The openings felt in November take a turn in December. The inner emotional changes intensify as Jupiter begins his retrograde dance on 12.08. In the Jaimini system of Jyotish, an exalted planet in retrograde motion is considered debilitated and weakened. It is acting like a node (Rahu and Ketu) in its expression. Only the nodes move in reverse all the time- against the grain of the other planets. In this period from 12.08.14 to 4.08.15, we will be asked to go over old territory, old ground, re-trace old steps and patterns, find new ways of emoting, expressing and working with our hearts. The retrograde cycles always give us an opportunity to catch what we've been missing, check in for deeper inquiry, and to strengthen our ability to make more lasting changes within our behaviors. These "clean up" cycles are thus necessary and vital for greater, and more powerful, movement forward. A weakened, debilitated Jupiter, however, will have effects on our spirits. The expansion energy will be tested once again, but in a different way. Retrograde Jupiter will call upon us to re-evaluate our alignments, our desires, our push to expand. It is an opportunity to re-align with our core purpose, what drives us and aligns more holistically with our soul's calling. If you've let the expansion energy get the best of you, to override your inner wisdom, this will be the time of change you will need to re-center. This debilitation of Jupiter will come during winter, the silent season in the Northern Hemisphere, and can be a time of moving inward more consciously. The final three weeks of Jupiter's retrograde dance will include a retrograde Saturn simultaneously. Talk about a time of inner reflection and finding new ways of being, new patterns, and new structures within our existence! For most of us, this time period will ask us to do some very intense work on our physical and emotional bodies simultaneously. Staying grounded and getting embodied will be absolutely crucial. Make sure to check in with me for a virtual workshop at this time. Jupiter's retrograde dance will be entirely within Ashlesha nakshatra. As mentioned above, this enlivens serpent energy, Sarpa, as well as Mercury (mental body). We are guaranteed a powerful inner dance with the mental body during this time frame, one that helps us to actively and consciously work on our serpent energy- the pieces that are gripping us. Serpent energy can be connected to cravings, insatiable worldly appetites, illusions of all kinds, deceptions, and the trappings of Rahu. Sarpa can help us work on our addictions, our bad habits ingrained in our minds, and removal of toxicity. This may be a good cycle to get assistance from a shaman or healing modalities that can help remove demons. Use the debilitation of Jupiter to work diligently on the shadowed mind and mental body themes that are your defaults, your crutch. This will be a time where we get to re-work the mind and unravel some shadowed perceptions. Once Jupiter goes direct on 4.08, he finishes out his Cancer cycle in a forward moving fashion. The final three and half months of this year long transit are in Ashlesha nakshatra. The themes central to Sarpa, Mercury and the mental body carry us through to the end of Jupiter's exaltation. Overall, this Jupiter cycle through Cancer is about working through our emotional limitations. Are we resisting our emotional work? Bypassing the depth of our emotions? Keeping our heart closed or too open and vulnerable? What are we opening to and closing to? These universal themes will be enlivened for each of us in very unique ways depending on our natal charts and individual mythologies. Working with creativity, embodiment and healing modalities that offer a spectrum of guidance will be most effective. Seek out high levels of knowledge and wisdom this year, it will be ripe and ready to eat, and likely you will realize you are ravenous for it! Monday, June 2nd Moon transits through Cancer (its own sign) and is in Pushya nakshatra the majority of the day. Moon in Cancer receives drishti (gaze) from retrograde Saturn, and Pushya nakshatra enlivens its ruler, Brihaspati (another name for Jupiter). However, this nakshatra is in fact ruled by Saturn, so we get direct access to the expansion (Jupiter) and contraction (Saturn) elements today. The dynamics of Saturn at play with the Moon can bring a restrictive feeling. Saturn is our grief and suffering and the Moon is our emotional body, so you may feel like you're being wrung out like a wet towel. Jupiter expands and opens, whereas Saturn contracts and restricts. Moon in Cancer is a direct connection to all matters of the heart. Use the metaphor of the heart to serve you today. The natural open and close, inhale and exhale of the heart and breath is a lovely reminder of how both these elements are necessary for life. This is the ultimate balance. Nourishment can be harvested and received with some surrender today. Harvest for the golden nuggets with extra self care. How can we use structure and restraint today in order for nourishment? Attend to your inner needs. Find nourishment and support in the slow, small, and steady. Seek the gentle silence. Work with expand and contract, open and close principles as well as the other dynamics of the heart lotus while Moon is in Cancer. Find my Exalted Jupiter & Heart mp3 here for greater creative awareness and support with this dynamic. Later in the day, Moon moves to Ashlesha nakshatra at 18:19 CDT, heightening its deity Sarpa (snake energy) and the planet Mercury (who is currently transiting its own sign, Gemini). Mind over matter strengthens into Tuesday. Embodiment will be crucial this evening and tomorrow. If you have trouble sleeping tonight, do an abhyanga (Ayurvedic oil massage) and take a warm bath before bed. Pranayama may help silence the mind as well. Tuesday, June 3rd Moon transits its own sign of Cancer and Ashlesha nakshatra through out the day and into the evening. This nakshatra is ruled by Sarpa and the planet Mercury; the symbol is a coiled serpent. Serpent energy is connected to a bit of mischief; deception, the illusions of life and overconfidence. Think: north node, Rahu who is the "head of the serpent", or the head of our shadow self. Look for excessive cravings today. Where are you wanting more? Where are you needing extra support and nourishment? Where is the mind leading you astray? Ask for your needs to be met. Make a list of what is feeling nourishing and supportive in your life and relationships. Make a list of what isn't feeling supportive and nourishing. Where can you make some adjustments? What needs to be said that you are avoiding? What poisons are you feeding your Self from the Mental Body? Seek clarity. Seek comfort. Align with support. Moon moves to Leo and Magha nakshatra at 21:18 CDT, enlivening our masculine/Sun energy. Wednesday, June 4th Venus moves to Bharani nakshatra at 03:57 am CDT. Sensitivity heightens with relationship matters over the next two weeks. Be perceptive to your own needs and use self care for extra support. There are transformations and endings likely with relationships, creativity and all Venus matters. This is a time of cleaning and clearing, restructuring and creating new contracts. These themes are heightened due to Venus's conjunction with Ketu in Aries right now. Remember, letting go creates space for new possibilities to arrive. Moon transits Leo and Magha nakshatra today. A nice exchange occurs between Leo (ruled by the Sun who is currently transiting Taurus) and Taurus (ruled by Moon who is transiting Leo today). This can give a boost to the emotions, a sense of encouragement and support, and bolster the spirit. Some may feel extra agitation and annoyance, a lack of support and the desire to force change. You might feel a shift within some of your relationships today. We are all in a pruning phase right now. Changes are inevitable. New contracts are being created, while old one's disintegrate. As Magha nakshatra is ruled by Pitr and the karma of the ancestors, take time for gratitude and thanks for your lineage and those that have come before you. It might also be valuable to take stock of familial patterns and where this conditioning is serving you or not serving you. Thursday, June 5th Moon moves into Purvaphalguni nakshatra just after midnight at 00:11 am CDT. Ruled by Bhaga (an Aditya connected to resources and abundance) and the planet Venus, Purvaphalguni is incredibly creative and fertile; ripe with possibility. Use this as the focus of your day. How can you invite in more creativity, more connection, more opportunities for growth and abundance into your life? What feels nourishing and supportive within your relationships? What needs to shift? Invite in more joy, play and pleasure today and see if some of it can stick! This is a great day to get out the paints, oil pastels and do one of my creative rituals. Need some support? Sign up for one of my upcoming creative workshops. Friday, June 6th Moon transits into Uttaraphalguni nakshatra at 02:47 am CDT, which is the latter half of the Phalguni stars. At 09:21 am CDT, Moon moves into Virgo, joining Mars there. Uttarphalguni enlivens Aryaman (an Aditya that gives health and bodily strength) as well as the Sun. This constellation connects us to sustainable parts of life, particularly those that sustain relationships and are connected to the ancestors. Need to create a contract or make something feel more solid and sustainable? Today's a good day for that type of endeavor. Most of us will feel a lift in the heart, extra support from loved ones. Make sure you do the same for others and remember your gratitude! Some may feel a rub and agitation with relationships. Take stock. What shifts do your personal boundaries need? Saturday, June 7th Mercury goes retrograde in Gemini at 06:54 am CDT. Need a reminder about what his backpedaling will offer? Find more here. Moon Moves to Hasta nakshatra at 04:52 am CDT as it nears Mars, also in Hasta nakshatra. Hasta is ruled by Savitr and the Moon. Savitr is the dawning of consciousness, awakening, and brings knowledge and great insight. He enlivens the hands and is connected to jyotish. Pay close attention to your intuition today as harvesting your inner wisdom will be palpable if you are listening. Recite Gayatri Mantra for extra support. Moon and Mars are in exact degrees at 18:31 CDT. Sharp intuition and awareness abounds, yet simultaneously, we may be feeling agitation and aggression as Moon and Mars make their conjunction. Anger is our red flag that personal boundaries are being crossed and that we aren't feeling supported in some way. Do an emotional audit. What needs to shift in your relationships? Where do you need to say no, instead of yes? Sunday, June 8th Sun moves out of Rohini and into Mrigashirsha nakshatra at 00:41 am CDT. Soma, the nectar of the Moon and the planet Mars are enlivened for the next two weeks with this dance of the Sun. We may feel noncommittal in the coming weeks, and find challenges making choices in regard to relationships. Remember that Venus's transit through Bharani is helping us restructure our contracts. The themes of change, movement and new alignments abound. Moon transits to Chitra nakshatra at 06:17 am CDT. Ruled by Vishvakarma and the planet Mars, today is a day of action. Vishvakarma, the celestial architect, calls upon us to take action (karma) and provides resources that we can "build upon". What are you moving towards? What are you moving away from? Take an action step today. Join me for part 3 of my virtual workshop series the Creative and Cosmic Self, where we will be exploring: Moving with Support and Stability. Working with Saturn in Libra & the Pelvis. Get the details. Moon transits into Libra at 18:42 CDT, joining Rahu (also in Chitra) and Saturn here. Our emotional body (Moon) joins the Rudra (storm) energy of Rahu and Saturn's conjunction. Work with what is, do not avoid or neglect. Explore the emotional body and let it provide you with resources. Remember, with Mercury retrograde right now, we are all retracing steps, while simultaneously gaining momentum for moving forward. Moon begins its waxing cycle (Shukla Paksha) this week after the new Moon on 5.28.
Tuesday, 5.27 Moon moves to Taurus at 12:38 pm CDT where it becomes exalted until 18:14 CDT this evening. Moon then moves to its mulitrikona degrees instead, however the power and clarity of this position can still be felt. Make hay while the Sun shines. Moon is in its final tithi (Moon phase) as it reaches its complete emptiness or new Moon status (amavasya) which takes place tomorrow. Moon is in Krittika nakshatra today. Krittika is ruled by Agni, which has everything to do with purifying, clearing and clarifying. Agni is the sacred fire god, literally the fire of life, who insures our transformations on all levels of existence- both internally and externally. He has an exactness and a certain precision which can be ideal for "cutting to the chase" and being extremely direct. Agni can help us see clearly what needs to occur for greater ease and momentum in our lives. Today, let go and let god. If you've had an agenda and a fixation on relationships, desires, changes that need to be made within you or your circumstances, surrender them. There's a plan that is greater than you and has your best interests in mind. Don't doubt this. Create space for the myriad of possibilities that exist outside of our small minds. The only thing standing in your way is you. Be open and perceptive to sudden change and the changes that may be necessary in order for you to truly embrace your deepest longings. What can you cut out, let go of and clarify today? Wednesday, 5.28 Moon moves to Rohini nakshatra at 07:24 am CDT. Moon is in its mulitrikona sign of Taurus still. Rohini is ruled by Lord Brahma who created the universe. His vast creativity is expressed through this auspicious nakshatra. It is a new Moon day as well. New Moon is at 13:40 CDT with Moon in Taurus and in Rohini nakshatra. Rohini is a nakshatra ruled by Lord Brahma, the creator of the Universe. He exemplifies great strength, possibility and creative energy. Creativity, artistry and material abundance are part of his offerings. And since he is husband of goddess Saraswati, who offers us wisdom, knowledge and the arts, Rohini is also connected to her graces by default. Read more about the new Moon and the coming waxing cycle. Use these Amavasya (new Moon) Harvesting questions for deeper inquiry: What am I ripe and ready for? What are my desires for the next two weeks? What action steps can I take for greater fruits and a richer harvest? What potential awaits me? What strength am I arriving at? What actions were left undone in the last cycle that I need to revisit? How do I want to move forward? Where do I want to channel my creativity and how? What support do I need with my efforts? What am I stepping towards? Tap into your vast creative potential today. With your empty vessel, create conscious and nourishing ways to fill and be filled. Create a mandala and "fill your cup" with intention. Sync up with the new Moon and learn more about the purpose of this cycle here. Thursday, 5.29 Moon moves to Mrigashirsha nakshatra today at 08:47 am CDT. The ruler of this nakshatra is Chandra, the sanskrit name for the Moon. Connected to soma, growth, ojas and the spark of creative potential, today offers changes that can better serve and nourish us. We will be moving quickly in heart and mind. Fluctuations and flutters are inevitable as Chandra moves quickly and the symbol of this nakshatra is a deer. Changes in relationships may be felt today. Who has changed? You or the other? What awakenings are present as you re-direct your focus towards greater needs, nourishment and support? What is working and not working in your relationship dynamics? As Moon moves into Gemini at 21:38 CDT, the mental body kicks up and may churn up overwhelm. Temper this with embodiment and grounding, self care rituals and creative and artistic processes. Have you done your new Moon mandala and harvesting work yet? Friday, 5.30 Moon transits Gemini with Mercury and Jupiter there. These three planets receive drishti (gaze) from Rahu. Mental body is moving quickly and much expansion can be felt with ideas, visions, creativity and possibilities. How can you harvest these fruits and capture these golden nuggets of grande thought? Day dream and let desires expand you for now. Mercury moves to Ardra nakshatra at 6:30 am CDT leading the way for Moon to move into this nakshatra as well. Moon moves into Ardra nakshatra at 10:36 am CDT; the Rahu and Rudra (storm god) energy enlivens. Does he expand you into overwhelm and excessive cravings that lead to more frustration? Or can you temper his shadowy nature with focus? Harness the momentum that can be felt right now. Write lists and "dump out your head" on paper. Set goals, prioritize and be potent in your actions. As Moon crosses Mercury now in Ardra as well, overwhelm and mental spin can set in. It will be important today (as well as the next two weeks of Mercury in Ardra) to attend to the emotional and physical bodies for grounding and support, rather then letting the mental body get away with its usual mayhem. Pay attention to your emotions. Overwhelm? Anger? Exhaustion? Fear? This is a direct indication that your basic needs of support and nourishment are not being met. How can you find a different way to get the job done? How can you use self care to get your needs met? What paradigms need to shift in your relationships so that you can release some of the angst? Get embodied. Saturday, 5.31 As Moon moves closer to Jupiter and into Punarvasu nakshatra at 12:50 pm CDT, the wisdom begins to surface. The pieces that arrived abruptly and painfully yesterday and earlier today, begin to translate into greater awareness. Aditi, the mother of all goodness and abundance provides us with a more unified experience. She has a harmonizing effect on us and can nourish and support us where we need it most. In what ways can you move towards greater nourishment, support, stability and strength today? Take time for inward and nourishing activities. Meditation and yoga are vital re-charge tools for today and will give you the maximum harvesting of your inner journey. Sunday, 6.01 Moon moves into Cancer (its own sign) at 08:46 am CDT where it receives drishti (gaze) from Saturn. Moon moves into Pushyami nakshatra at 15:27 CDT, enlivening its ruler, Brihaspati, another name for Jupiter. However, this nakshatra is ruled by Saturn, so we get direct access to the expansion (Jupiter) and contraction (Saturn) elements today. The dynamics of Saturn at play with the Moon can bring a restrictive feeling. Though nourishment can be harvested and received with some surrender. How can we use structure and restraint today in order for nourishment? Attend to your inner needs. Find nourishment and support in slow, small, steady and in gentle silence. Work with expand and contract, open and close principles as well as the other dynamics of the heart lotus while Moon is in Cancer. Find my Exalted Jupiter & Heart mp3 here for greater creative awareness and support with this dynamic. Plan your week in tune with Nature. Never miss my Moon Mind Calendar. Sign up for my newsletter. And if you like this post, please share it! Thank you! Moon is in its waxing phase now (shukla paksha) and moves through Cancer, Leo and into Virgo this week.
Monday, 5.05 Moon transits Cancer, its own sign, and is in Pushya nakshatra today. Ruled by Brihaspati and the planet Saturn, there is nourishment attainable today- especially from things that are structured and established, old and enduring. Look to lineage and wisdom for guidance. Brihaspati is another name for Jupiter, priest to the gods, and wisest of the planets. The rules of Jupiter apply to Brihaspati as well. Read more about Jupiter in my Exalted Jupiter article. From this position in Cancer, the Moon receives drishti (gaze) from Saturn ten houses away, which can make the Moon feel depressed, saddened or unable to fully experience the nourishment present. If your mood is blue or indigo today, use self care as a valuable resource. Nourish your Self from the inside out. Do a "support audit" and make a list of all the places you are getting your needs met. Then give some gratitude for what you do have. Move your physical body and let the emotional body flow as well. Tuesday, 5.06 Moon is still in its own sign of Cancer today, but moves to Ashlesha nakshatra at 10:32 am CDT. Serpent energy is enlivened today through Sarpa. You might find support with worldly aspirations today, but a mischievous mind needs to be tempered. Watch your appetite! Are your cravings getting the best of you? Are your desires ruling your actions? Pay attention to the pressures you are putting on your self. Financially and otherwise. Cut back where you can. Play nice. Meditate and channel your desires into transcendence. "Anyone can hide. Facing up to things, working through them, that's what makes you strong." - Sarah Dessen Wednesday, 5.07 Moon moves to Leo and Magha nakshatra today at 13:26 CDT. Pitr and Ketu, both rulers of Magha, can bring flashes of insight and awareness today. It is a day of Sun and shining, with some sparks and fire as well! Several layers of Sun and Ketu are enlivened today. Leo is ruled by the Sun, the Moon is in its 9th phase (tithi) today called Navami, which is ruled over by the Sun as well. Currently we have an exalted Sun transiting Aries, sitting there with Ketu. Invite in the shine and move into the power and light, but avoid getting scorched. Invite in support, ideas and awareness that bring possibility and excitement. Pay special attention to the ancestors today and give your gratitude at the altar. Curb the ego. Thursday, 5.08 Keep your sunglasses on (as per yesterdays post) until 16:06 CDT, when Moon moves into Purvaphalguni, one of the most creative and fertile of the 27 nakshatras. This lunar constellation is ruled by Bhaga and Venus. Bhaga is one of the 12 Adityas, the children of goddess Aditi (Punarvasu nakshatra). Adityas rule over the resources we have in this life, the support available to us. With Venus exalted currently, this can be a day that offers a wealth of support from love, friendships and relationships, as well as through creativity and money. Luck and ample creativity are afoot on this day of Jupiter (Thursday)! Love and be loved. Create and share. "Love and you shall be loved". ~Ralph Waldo Emerson Friday, 5.09 The love continues to flow like jala (water) on this day of Venus (Friday). Moon stays in Purvaphalguni the majority of the day, moving into the latter half of the Phalguni stars at 18:21 CDT when it moves to Uttarphalguni. This star is ruled by Aryaman and the Sun. It's a place where love and partnerships, romance and sexuality, find more stability and sustainability. Aryaman is also connected to the ancestors and is pleased by things that sustain lineage (ie. marriage and children). Since ample creativity is palpable again today, channel it effectively and share the fruits of your labor with others. Create, co-create, dance and sing. Enjoy quality time with your family. Enjoy the life you are creating for your Self! A further creative boost comes today as Mercury moves to Rohini at 12:14 CDT. The mind is moving towards creativity and connection. Inspire and be inspired! "Creativity is contagious. Pass it on." - Albert Einstein Saturday, 5.10 Moon moves to Virgo just after midnight at 00:50 CDT, joining retrograde Mars here. Both planets get direct drishti (gaze) from exalted Venus seven houses away. Yesterday's themes persist today as well since the Moon stays in Uttarphalguni most of the day. At 20:02 CDT Moon moves to Hasta as it nears exact conjunction with Mars. Some may feel divine inspiration from the Universal Mother, Ma. Learn, expand and look for the support that is ever present. Give your gratitude. Take any mental/emotional tensions into art and creativity. Dancing and singing will prove valuable. Gaze at the Moon to cool your eyes tonight. Sunday, 5.11 Hasta nakshatra rules the day and on into the night. Savitr and the Moon are enlivened today. Savitr offers his guiding light and helps us awaken. Use Gayatri Mantra to assist you with this. Moon crosses Mars mid morning, but their tight conjunction separates closer to noon. Watch for the emotional heat and mental tension mentioned yesterday. Don't let the mind get overheated. Sharp insights and intuitive wisdom can be found through the awakening of Savitr today. Carve out space and time to listen and be present to what arises. Give your gratitude to the divine feminine and her abundant nature. Don't suppress the urge to dance, vocalize, sing and express today. Move your body, let your artistry flow, and find insights and wisdom in subtle messages. Studying jyotish is ideal today. Join me for my Jyotish Basics workshop from 12 to 1pm CDT.
