The Hard and the Soft. -by SJM
As per this week's horoscopes: Full Moon on Sunday 11.17 at 09:15 CST while exalted in Taurus and in Krittika Nakshatra. Sun is weak and in young degrees (sandhi) at this time as it will have just moved to Scorpio in the wee hours of the morning on 11.16. Seek clarity and purification with this Full Moon weekend and don't over indulge in sweets and intoxicants. The coming weeks will bring a theme of "cutting out what is unnecessary". Attend to your inner flame, your life force energy at this time. This week we will work with the stomach, the gut, as our body part. The metaphors for gut have to do with digestion and assimilation as well as elimination. What are you digesting and assimilating? How effectively do you eliminate? We use this process in our lives on multiple levels; with our assimilation of environment, our internal/external landscapes, with words, ideas and life's experiences. The gut is connected to intuition- our "gut responses". Stomach problems are associated with "the inability to process and assimilate impressions received from our outer environment. Our ability to eliminate, or how we eliminate, is connected with the abdomen. In Eastern traditions, the belly is considered the center of the body, and the place form which a state of balance emanates. The abdomen acts as a transit area between the upper and lower areas of our body." -The Expressive Body in Life, Art and Therapy by Daria Halprin. Use movements such as "cat and cow" and gentle spinal twists to activate the gut. Notice if your breaths are going all the way to the base of the stomach, or stopping short. Lie on your back and place your hands on your belly. Feel the gentle undulations of its rise and fall with each breath. Gently knead your gut with your fingers. Notice any sore spots or lumps? Move around the navel in a circular pattern. Stop and let your body relax and respond to the touch of your hands on your belly. Come to your drawing pad. Draw your belly. What images were invoked during your body part exploration? What colors and textures are alive in your drawing? Ask your Self "Are there "leftovers" that I am digesting still?" Does your gut have more to say, more to digest and assimilate? If your gut could talk, what would it tell you?

Moon Mind :::
Thursday, 11. 7 Moon transiting PurvaAshada nakshatra, transiting Sagittarius with Venus there as well- both receiving drishti from Saturn and Jupiter. The energy of today brings both expansion and contraction to mind, emotions and intuition, while the water goddess, Apas (ruler of PuvaAshada), reminds us to go with the flow. Today, focus on cleansing, purifying and finding ways to soothe and be soothed. Tend to emotions and stay out of the "big picture". Instead let the little joys and simple pleasures be enough. Celebrate your "small step" successes. Find the love and pass it on. Jupiter is now retrograde. Get the details via this week's horoscopes: http://www.swatijrjyotish.com/1/post/2013/11/horoscopes-for-the-week-of-114.html 11.5
Moon debilitated in Scorpio and moves to Jyeshtha nakshatra mid morning. Mind moves fast today. Get mental tasks in order but strive for balance. Keep your focus and use executive abilities for best results, just don't over do it. Expect some delays and frustrations. 11.6 Moon moves to Mula nakshatra early in the morning. Jupiter goes retrograde later in the day. This is a time of striving towards dharma, clearing out the old, outmoded and getting priorities in order. Attend to health and wellness. Dishevelment rules the day so plan for a bit of choas. You will need extra time to get things done so plan ahead and work backwards. Read more about Jupiter's retrograde motion via this week's horoscopes and my Jupiter in Gemini article below: http://www.swatijrjyotish.com/1/post/2013/11/horoscopes-for-the-week-of-114.html This is a time of creative expansion, while also moving us towards refocusing and restructuring our efforts in new and more sustainable ways. Alliances and support systems take precedence and importance. The Moon begins to wax this week. It's a time of momentum and movement forward as well as a time of finding new balance and creativity.
Last week we created our New Moon Mandalas and worked with the Pelvis- a creative resource. This week we will work with the neck, throat and jaw. The neck connects head with the rest of the body and throat and jaw are primary parts of our ability to communicate. "The neck, throat and jaw work together, creating a sense of connection or disconnection between the head and the rest of the body between the inner experience and external expression. These body parts are associated with communication. In this capacity, they act as the conductors of inner impulses, thoughts, and feelings to the outer environment and to other people. We use the throat to voice our personal identity, to speak up and speak out. The jaw engages with our intake of food by biting off what we have the capacity to chew." -The Expressive Body in Life, Art and Therapy by Daria Halprin. Begin with a gentle head roll- side to side, back and forth, then gentle looping to the left and to the right. Massage your neck and shoulders, open your mouth wide, press your hands into your jaw and notice the sensations. Reach your chin up and stretch your neck, open and close your jaw noticing the different feelings present in the body. Are the muscles tight? Do joints crack or pop? Is there tension or ease? See if a sound comes out of the mouth. Where is it coming from? Can you build on it, expand it, move with it? Start sounding. Be the sound. Find your sound. Your howl, your hum, your roar, your whisper. Play with levels. Pauses. Breath. Develop your song. Give your song a title. Then come to your drawing pad. What image was evoked from your song? What is the message of your song? Moon is now waxing (bright half/Shukla Paksha) and moves through Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn and into Aquarius this week. Moon is debilitated in Scorpio the 4th and 5th.
Last week's big planetary shifts and changes created a crack for new light to enter (through ideas, awareness, possibilities, ways to find support, desires, creativity) and this week continues in a theme of clean-up, re-do's and refocusing our efforts and attention. Saturn moves to Vishaka nakshatra on 11.4, ruled by the dual god, Indragni. This nakshatra is about working together, finding alliances and support systems through the merging of higher and lower entities, energies and enterprises. It is about bringing together the relative and the spiritual in order to create something sustainable, focused and life supporting. Indragni is also connected to the altar- the sacred place of offering to the gods, as well as the alchemy involved in such sacred transformational acts such as yagyas. The mouth is the portal that food enters, before it is transformed into life force. It is important to be mindful of our food choices and health at this time- to eat as though it is the sacred act that it is. The following months will give us a new spiritual focus; keep your pilot lights bright and sharp. Align with the purpose of Seva for maximum benefit. May the light of Diwali continue to carry us through the darkest days and this time of turning within. Mercury began its retrograde motion two weeks ago- which kicked off a "dance of returns" so to speak that will continue through the end of May 2014. Over the course of the coming weeks and months Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and Mars will all retrograde with a sort of domino effect- back to back- one after another. We will be experiencing clean-up on nearly every level of our lives. The next seven months are about re-evaluating and reminding ourselves what are the essential ingredients for life and what is "best practice" for our efforts. This week Jupiter retrogrades. On 11.6 at 22:32 CST, Jupiter begins his focus on clean-up, fixing and healing until March 3rd of 2014. Jupiter's movement back through Gemini will bring elements of uprooting and change as well as "getting to the root of things" with knowledge and insight, understanding and compassion. Retrograde Jupiter reminds us to find healthy boundaries in our relationships- boundaries that sustain our energy and efforts- without feeling the need to "fix" or take on partners as patients, heal the entire world, be co-dependent etc. This transit will ask healers to get really clear on why they "do what they do"- the root of their need to help and be of service. We will each be working with these issues in our own way and hopefully we will find healthy ways to recreate balance in our lives. It is a good time to revisit my Jupiter in Gemini article from several months back for reminders about this current transit. Utilize my jyoti/creative arts activities as a healing & awareness tool. This week's Jyoti/Expressive Art Therapy Creative Engagement Activity moves us into the light of possibility and expansion via song. *Horoscopes are based on your Vedic rising sign. You can also check your Moon and Sun signs for further insight. Do the same with your Navamsa signs for further clarity. Do not use these horoscopes with your “Western Sign” as there is likely no correlation. These horoscopes are meant to be used as a broad overview of the current transits and obviously do not address the specifics of an individual’s unique chart. Aries: Continue to find new ways to support your self, notice the myriad of ways that support comes to you and your life. What gifts do others bring to you. Are you willing and able to receive them? Your intuition is sharp right now. Go with gut instincts. Find resolution for anger towards children, friends, loss and the past. Let your Self and others off the hook for making mistakes. Taurus: Speak the sweet truth and sing your heart songs. Cleaning and clearing past relationships feels important to you suddenly. Work with the underlying anger. Your healing work is directly connected to digestion, gut, enemies, vulnerabilities, fears and bad habits. A clear and clean gut gives a clear and clean intuition. Gentle detox is best- avoid fast and furious healing endeavors- they will only lead to greater vulnerability and chaos. Slow and steady wins the race. Gemini: Think of your Self as a computer getting a re-boot, a re-programming. Your natural ability to connect and communicate is finding an expansive and sensual side right now. How does it feel? Can you get out of your mental body and into your emotional/imaginal body? Can you step outside of your default mode and hit control + alt + delete to get a fresh start? Listen to your gut response, your intuitive wisdom for guidance. Be mindful of your food choices for optimum intelligence. Cancer: Relationships are getting a new opportunity to heal and find ease. Perhaps you are gaining some new wisdom about how to respond from the heart, while keeping safe and healthy boundaries? You can be clear and poignant with your words and needs while still being loving and kind. Your growth is entirely unseen by others, but trust your process any way. This month, mind your gut and watch your diet. Bad habits and enemies will take extra bravery and courage on your part. Leo: Sharpness and quickness rule supreme right now. Courage and bravery are required with intelligence, relationships and passions. What is your emotional response to others and how might this be a signal for you in other ways? Use friends as teachers and seek their messages and metaphors. Finding balance with your courage, efforts and strength is paramount right now. Burning out and burning up are way too easy, yet not sustainable. Virgo: Speak, yell, sing. Howl, cluck, meow. Change the way you use your words and how they emerge. Your gift with words are finding a new way of expression right now. Move with it. Find channels to unleash your emotions and use this as a tool for liberation and creativity. Relationships are going through deep transformation. See them as your guru- the Great Messenger. Be mindful of your words and what goes in and out of your mouth. Eat well. Libra: Grounding and Self care are so important for you right now. When the storm winds blow and get too intense, it is crucial to get into your physical body and out of the mental body. Mind the emotions and work with them- not against them. Use their charge to spawn new creative efforts and wisdom. Cultivate a practice of listening, pausing, breathing- before acting. And at all costs, remember you can trust your Self and your abilities. Be resourceful. Scorpio: Working from your little island is proving successful, yet alliances and support systems are more necessary than ever. What's the resistance? Trust issues? Fear of losing/giving away power? Lack of finances? All of the above? Your priorities need an overhaul. You can't do everything alone. Success come from asking for help from the right people, places and things as well as trusting. You're about to get a chance to do some major re-do's. Great. Now let's re-prioritize. Sagittarius: Some sense of nurturing is available now- are you letting it seep in? Friends and children offer support, wisdom and new insights. You are cared for and loved. Trust the Universe to provide and nourish you. Long standing internal anger is your greatest teacher right now. What does this fire stoke within you? How can you harness it rather than let it burn you up? What does this rage want, need, desire? It takes up a lot of energy to push it away and put it out. Why not work with it in a new way? Capricorn: Your creativity is focused on the foreign, travels, healing and relationships. These areas give a boost to your career, but will come with effort, attention, and structured wisdom. It is important to listen to gut instincts. Clarity will come by eating sattvic foods, lightly, with a gentle Ayurvedic cleanse. This is a time to be bold and courageous. It's who you are. Don't listen to the self doubt. Aquarius: Teachers come in all shapes and sizes. You are getting a chance to change some old patterns, beliefs and philosophies that no longer work or serve you. Friends and older siblings may prove as valuable resources right now and bring a wealth of information with them. Listen up! If you notice resistance within, anger towards others, or judgement and discrimination, I suggest you do some deep introspection and thoughtful investigation as to where it is coming from. Old habits die hard. Pisces: Vulnerability is your greatest strength. Some new healing is available to you now that may have not been available before, as well as some tools to help others and be of service. You are also able to take your insights and turn them into offerings in new and profound ways. Use your dharmic resources and trust your instincts. Heal and be healed. Forgive your Self and your enemies and nourish and nurture. From darkness there will come light. |
