Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
Saturday, 6.8.13 As per this week's horoscopes: New Moon exalted in Taurus on 6.8 at 10:56 CDT in Mrgashiras nakshatra, ruled by Soma, the divine nectar (and also another name for the Moon). Mrgashiras is also ruled by the planet Mars. Sun, Moon and Mars will all be in Taurus at this time and the Moon will have just crossed over the Sun. It will almost be in exact degrees with Sun at the time of the New Moon (23.58 degrees). Soli/Lunar energies will be highly connected with Mars at this time. Emotions will be sensitive, Soma may feel “burned”, heat, passion, will be heightened, though all of this may be turned inward due to the nature of the New Moon. It is also Saturday, day of Saturn (grief, hardwork, sorrow). Move with compassion and emotional awareness today. Seek the soma.

Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
Wednesday, 6.7.13 Moon in Taurus, its position of exaltation and in Rohini nakshatra. Moon, Sun, and Mars are all in Rohini until Sun moves to Mrigashirsha at 18:41 CDT. Rohini is ruled by Lord Brahma, so there is a triple Brahma experience occurring right now. Lord Brahma is the creator god who created the universe and also created the human race (sometimes he is referred to as Prajapati- lord of progeny). The planetary rulership for Rohini is the Moon and thus expresses the maximum creativity of this lunar star. Rohini gives a strong connection to the arts, the creative process, music and learning since Brahma is not only a creator, but married to Goddess Saraswati who rules over knowledge, wisdom and the creative arts. There is also fertility associated with Rohini as well as any act of creation and creativity. With the alignment of Mars, Sun and Moon in Rohini until later this evening + occurring on a Friday (day of Venus- planet of passion, romance, the feminine and creativity) and in tithi 15 ruled by Rahu, we get a high sense of worldly creative action. (There are also several other connections between Venus and Rahu currently that give influence). This can bring a connection between foreign, commerce, creativity, women, desires, trade, art, the divine feminine, and new expansion with these. Use the power of today to create. Thursday, 6.6.13 Moon has entered Taurus, its sign of exaltation, and transits Krittika nakshatra. Moon near its new moon phase and is in the 14th tithi currently in Chaturdasi (a tithi ruled by Venus). Krittika nakshatra is ruled by the deity Agni and also the Sun. He is known for burning, cutting, clarifying and purifying. The translation from Sanskrit is "razor" while the symbol here is of an axe, scalpel or flame. Agni is literally the fire of life, the sacred fire god. He is instrumental in the process of alchemy, digestion, connecting us to consciousness and the higher realms, and helps us to "cook" and assimilate life. My beloved Vaidya, Rama Kant Mishra, once described stomach agni to me as the "pilot light" that ignites the stomach fires. It's possible to have a lot of heat and fire in the body, but without the delicate agni being fueled properly, we literally "burn up" from the inside out. Agni is the pilot light that fuels all of our digestive processes. Not just in the gut. Building a proper fire requires a delicate balance of items. We must start with tinder, then kindling and only after a small flame starts these, do we slowly add the big logs. (Dousing the wood with gasoline is never recommended nor can we use wet wood.) Agni makes this entire process of alchemy possible. Every good bonfire starts with agni and a slow build- whether literal or metaphoric. Agni is instrumental in a clear consciousness and powerful insight. Without it, there is dullness, laziness, excess heat, getting scorched, unnecessary anger and emotion, an undigested or overly-digested life. Today is that reminder of building the fire within and using it properly. How are you building and what are you burning? Moon is exalted in Taurus but is there with Mars and Sun- two fire planets. Your emotions may be extra hot today and a certain discomfort may be present. Fan the flames and stay cool. Don't get burned up in the process. Be constructive with your anger. 6.4 Moon has crossed the tricky gandanta junction of Pisces to Aries and now transits Ashwini nakshatra. Many felt this difficult passage on Monday (day of Moon) especially on the emotional level. Tuesday (day of Mars) brings a certain fierceness with it as Moon also transits a Mars sign (Aries) and a nakshatra ruled by Ketu (who acts like Mars in many ways). Ashwini nakshatra is ruled by the Ashvini-Kumara- the Ayurvedic twin "doctors to the gods." Their father is the Sun (Surya) and he conceived them when he was in horse form (Asva means horse in Sanskrit). The horse is deeply symbolic to this nakshatra- not only because of their strength and power, but also because horses are known to possess an anti-venom for snake bites. This holds both metaphoric as well as literal meaning. The Asvin twins are powerful sources against black magic (snakes), dark deceitful behavior's and personalities and are able to fight poisons (they are known for their rasayanas/life giving treatments and their ability to purify). They use both medicine as well as the creative arts as healing tools. The Vedic literature also speaks to our senses being like "five horses pulling us" and thus requires our great skill and strong handling. Good horsmanship/horsewomanship is essential. Otherwise we literally get dragged around by the horses! Use today for purification purposes, tying up loose ends, tackling to-do lists and clean diet/routine. Watch the company you keep and notice the flies buzzing about the horse stalls. As Venus has just moved to Ardra, you may notice the relationships and friendships that are the least life/soul supporting suddenly showing up wanting to hang out. Use clear boundaries and intentions as you navigate difficult personalities and unhealthy motives. Don't waste your time leading horses to water.... |
