Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
5.25 Moon debilitated in Scorpio and has moved into its dark half (waning cycle) though is still quite energized. Moon is transiting Jyestha nakshatra today- ruled by Indra and the planet Mercury. Indra is king of the devas (gods) and also rules rain and thunder (he carries a thunderbolt as a weapon). There is great strength here. The Upanishads call Indra the life-force (prana) so worshiping prana means one is worshiping Indra. Worshiping the inner and outer power of life. Moon is getting direct drishti from five planets sitting in Taurus: Jupiter, Sun, Venus, Mars, Mercury. Don't over do it today. Don't over think it today. Don't push too hard. Surrender to your breath and do breath centered activities. Pause and take note of the breath. Honor this life force as the reason you are alive and living. So simple and yet so profound.

Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
5.23- 5.24 Moon transits Libra in Vishaka nakshatra until 12:36 CDT 5.24 and is sitting with Rahu and Saturn right now- Rahu is currently in Vishaka as well. Moon is waxing and nearing its fullness for the month. Ruled by Indragni, the king and high priest, Vishaka has a dual power associated with it. There is both practical and spiritual power here as well as alchemy. Both Indra and Agni were born of the mouth (portal) of the Cosmic Being (purusha). The cosmic mouth is the portal where offerings are made and the gods can "eat" them. All offerings must pass through these two deities Indra and Agni before being met by the other gods. This "mouth" is the portal where our offerings are transformed and "eaten" by the gods, thus transformed into sustenance for both the deities, and then in turn, the gifts that we receive from them. When Indra and Agni combine their forces, there is a great power in transformational abilities- the power of Indra + the transformational qualities of agni. When they join forces as Indragni, they are known as one single devata, working together for special purposes. The "cosmic portal" can be seen as the altar where we perform yagyas and pujas, daily offerings and such, as well as quite literally our own mouths- where food that we ingest is turned into life giving power because of our digestive agni fires. Vishaka is a metaphor for so many expressions of alchemy, transformation and changes. This nakshatra is ruled by Jupiter. Currently Jupiter is sandhi, preparing to leave Taurus after a full year in this sign, and heading into Gemini- a sign owned by Mercury, creativity, artistry and personal power. What transformations are you stepping into today? What shifts are happening for you? What are you ingesting and what are you not able to yet transform? Mars has joined Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Sun in Taurus now- putting five planets in this Earth sign. We are all focusing on security, support, wealth, early childhood experiences and comfort right now. Give that which you wish to receive. Transformations are inevitable. 5.22 Moon transits Libra in Chitra nakshatra until 17:05 CDT when it moves to Swati nakshatra. Chitra is ruled by Vishvakarma, the divine architect. Today is about subtle expansion, utilizing creativity, and proper orchestration based on the planetary positions effecting us right now. Later today, as Moon moves to Swati, Vayu will gear up for movement, force and change- expect mental fluctuations and give your self room for flexibility. Moon is in its bright half (waxing) in the 13th tithi which is ruled by Jupiter. Chitra nakshatra is ruled by Mars. As a result, both Mars and Jupiter's influence is heightened today. Both are Sandhi (in the gap) and moving to new houses. The feeling for these planets is "packing up past belongings and feeling unsettled". They are in the netherworlds. Mars moves to Taurus today at 22:11 CDT (Jupiter will move to Gemini on the 30th). Lethargy and apathy abounds. When Moon moves to Swati nakshatra later in the day, Rahu's influence will be heightened as it rules this nakshatra. As Moon transits Libra for several days, it is in conjunction with Saturn and Rahu. Saturn is still retrograde and sitting in its position of exaltation, thus rendering it debilitated. We are still in clean up mode as a result- Saturn bringing us into direct contact with our "core" issues. Revisit my Saturn/Rahu articles for a reminder on what our work is right now. [Links below]. Today is one of those days where frustrations, disappointments, complexities, overwhelm and disturbances play their part in our mental/emotional bodies. If you can lay low, do it. If you must blow with the winds of Vayu, bring a parachute and try to coast towards Earth. Take it as it comes and chalk this one up to house cleaning. The best use of your efforts is using creative expression to move the emotions- dance, sing, paint, create with your hands, move the stories. http://www.swatijrjyotish.com/1/post/2013/02/february-26th-2013.html Upcoming Jupiter Transit :::
As stated in this week's Horoscopes, Jupiter is changing signs on May 30th. His next year long transit through Gemini will be much different than the previous experience of Taurus. Many of us are already feeling the changes. Now is an ideal time to get your Jupiter yagya done and get an annual chart done for insight into your year ahead. Jupiter is the planet of knowledge, expansion, wisdom, growth, the guru/teacher, and is considered the most auspicious planet because he can give comfort and support as well as spiritual development. 5.21 Moon transits Virgo and Hasta nakshatra, ruled by savitr. Savitr is the dawn, the place that is neither day nor night, the waking up, the sandhi (gap) time of the morning. He brings us awareness, awakenings, consciousness expansion and development, a desire and thirst for greater insight and clarity. Savitr determines our scope of awareness and gives us our lagna- birth sign. Not surprisingly, Savitr is especially fond of jyotish since it is one of the greatest tools of awareness and insight as well as spiritual development. Hasta people have a desire to grow on an inner level and often have a profound sense of numbers, astrology, and special abilities with their hands. Palmistry is included in this as the symbol of Hasta is a hand or fist. As with any nakshatra or expression of consciousness, this could mean you are a great healer who uses your hands, an artist who can create through creative alchemy, or a skilled pick pocket. It is through one's consciousness, karma, dharma and desires that we aim our abilities and choose our direction. Hasta reminds us to leave space for more, the expansion, the new day. Then we must take appropriate action steps and use our insight and awareness accordingly. Today Moon gets drishti from Guru/Jupiter as it nears its own sandhi (gap). Mars is sandhi and moves to Taurus tomorrow. Expand your mental comfort today but note the irritations. A certain Rumi quote comes to mind: “If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?” Use the Gayatri Mantra today to enliven your connection to Savitr: Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥtát savitúr váreṇ(i)yaṃbhárgo devásya dhīmahidhíyo yó naḥ pracodáyāt Want to know more about Savitr and the other deities?
