This Week's Intention: Let the inward pull be the catalyst for deeper grounding. Receive the resources arriving to you by taking time to pause, look and listen. What messages are arriving to support you? The week begins with a waning Moon, transiting the 10th tithi, Dashami. This lunar phase is connected to dharma and ruled by Aryaman, who is the son of Aditi- mother of all goodness. This is a week of resources and moving towards your dharmic truth. Pay attention to messages, insights and support that arrive. Turn your attention inward to find these gifts. This week also begins the retrograde cycles of Mercury and Jupiter and offers a new Moon. Return to simplicity and the bare essentials. Start over and seek solid ground. My Self Care Challenge begins this week! Be sure to follow along with my newsletter for daily resources, tools and support for gaining maximum inner support. Not on my newsletter? Sign Up Here. Monday, Moon continues through the swift and windy nakshatra, Swati and the sign of Libra. Vayu, the wind god is ruling deity, bringing change and movement with him. Swati translates as "the sword" since it is decisive, clear and action oriented. Early afternoon, Mars shifts to Swati nakshatra as well, intensifying the type of movement and strength available in the coming days. Force and momentum are stirring within. Where are you directing this energy? How can you use it for activation of desires, dharmic path and moving towards your purpose? Do you waste this energy? Is self-sabotage derailing you and keeping your energy small and fizzled out? Use healthy boundaries diligently and attend to self care with focus. Ride this wave responsibly and don't squander this momentum. Late afternoon, Moon moves to Vishaka nakshatra. You may be presented with options and opportunities, or you may suddenly realize you have more choices than you originally thought. Keep reaching and spreading your branches. Tuesday Moon continue through Libra and Vishaka nakshatra until midday. As Moon shifts to its debilitation sign, Scorpio, joining Venus and Saturn here, you may notice a change in your emotions and feelings. Trying to make a decision? Feeling confused or uncertain? Check in with your emotional body for guidance and support. Challenges are reminders that some need is not being met. Where do you need more support and stability, more safety and security? Make this a priority and use self care to maximize your inner resourcing. Late afternoon, Moon shifts to Mitra's constellation, Anuradha. Seek comfort and nourishment in healthy ways. Connect and communicate with friends. Get creative! Mercury moves to Capricorn at 05:02 am PST on January 5th, an amicable sign for him. Multiple gazes are given to Mercury, stirring the mind and provoking textures in the mental body landscape. Saturn, Mars and Rahu give their drishti to Mercury, instigating tension and frustrations. This is a time to seek balance with your momentum. Leap and land carefully- and with intention. Desires may be strong and intense on the mental body level. Are these desires controlling you? Find ways to soften and surrender. The tension between Saturn (stop, slow) and Mars (go, fast) is intensified by Rahu (the amplifier). Capricorn's nature is to push really hard, overwork and to tenaciously take on a challenge. Are you biting off more than you can chew? Saying yes when you really need to say no? Find ways to delegate, get extra support and notice where you invite in overwhelm. This is often a strategy for self sabotage, perpetuating cycles of "not being enough" or "not doing good enough". Remember that challenges are an opportunity to notice what needs to change or shift within us or our choices. What needs to change in order for smoother sailing? As Mercury continues to move through the constellation Uttarashada, the Vishvadevas provoke some stability and balance for the mind while inviting in some peace and inner joy. Mercury is retrograde for three weeks- until January 25th. During this backward dance, he will move back through the domain of the Vishvadevas, returning to Sagittarius once again, just minutes after the 14th of January arrives. Once he returns to Sagittarius, he runs right into the Sun, rendering him combust and in exact conjunction with the heat of fire itself. The mind will be hot, agitated and fragile leading up to and after this transit so be mindful of your thoughts, words and actions. Sun and Mercury pass and begin to separate as Mercury retreats back through Sagittarius and the Sun moves forward into Capricorn midday on the 14th. Retrograde Jupiter now gives his gaze to Mercury, softening and stabilizing the mind, yet provoking growth and wisdom in ways that may arrive as challenges and learning curves. Mercury moves back into the first portion of the Ashada constellation, Purva on the 17th of January and Apas arrives with her watery ways to increase flow, fluidity and movement. With the conjunction of Venus and Mercury at this time, a powerful creative energy may be felt. Use this creativity for movement, change and supporting transformation. Mercury won't arrive back into Capricorn until February 8th, when he will ask you to revisit themes around forcing outcomes and pushing hard to achieve. Where can you surrender and release? Where do you need more support? Gather resources now for greater stability. Harness the creative energy to help support ingenuity and new pathways for success. Wednesday, Anuradha's supportive, connective energy offers gains, resources and support. As Moon continues through his debilitation sign, conjunct Saturn and Venus, the emotional body requests special, tender care. Ruling deity of Anuradha, Mitra, requests co-creation from reliable and friendly relations. He is an Aditya, which means he is a resource giver and can provide fruitful responses. The ruling planet of this nakshatra is Saturn, however- so the support given does not come without your efforts and consistent action. Saturn helps those who know how to help themselves. Use your detail-oriented focus to get clear and precise about the type of support you need. Then delegate and ask the right team players to help you. As evening arrives, Moon changes to Jyeshtha nakshatra and the strength of Indra arrives. His symbol is a thunderbolt, which he uses as a weapon. His power controls the rain, as well as the senses. He exemplifies the fine dance between strength and vulnerability. A clear sensitivity is given with Indra's wisdom, yet it must be attended to with intention or it will be negated. Watch for over-stimulation tonight and remember that less is more. Let the tears move you and find ways to release your inner rain. Saturn and Venus are moving into close conjunction- less than two degrees a part now. Moon is in exact conjunction with Saturn this evening. Emotions and feelings are strong, heavy and sad. A certain depression may set in. This is a reminder to get your internal waters moving. Dance, sing, paint, draw, walk, create! Thursday, Moon moves to the edge of Scorpio and away from tight conjunction with Saturn, however, Venus and Saturn become even tighter in degrees. There is a strong force instigating balance through deep surrender. Saturn brings the structure, while Venus brings the flow. Saturn offers death, while Venus provides life. Saturn is old and sickly, while Venus is young and fruitful. Together, fully integrated, these two opposing forces bring ultimate balance, support and stability. Can you feel the pull for greater ease and integration of your polarities? Where are you resisting? Where can you release and let go? Where are you refusing to receive the nourishment you crave? Give in to the pull for ease. Go with the flow. Sensitivity continues as Moon continues through Jyeshtha nakshatra the majority of the day. Vulnerability is your strength. Harness this power! Jupiter is perched at the edge of Leo right now and in very fragile degrees. On January 7th, Jupiter begins his retrograde motion, retracing his steps through the fiery and passionate sign of Leo until May 9th, 2016. Sun, Leo and the 5th house all connect us to the father and masculine energy in general. In many regards, Jupiter can also be an indication of the father, or the extension of the "father" because he represents our teachers, guides and those who provide support. This cycle will certainly influence our personal mythology with father and authority figures, as well as our relationship with these parts of our life story. Jupiter will bring learning, growth and new wisdom as well as personal development in the realm of father and all things father figure, authority, teachers and power issues. What parts of your relationship with your father and power need attention, healing or extra support? Now is the time to put some focus on this part of your inner and outer life. The body part connected to the fifth house is the upper gut- a place of intuitive insight and the seat of our inner power. Deepening our relationship with this part of the body will be helpful to increase healing intentions connected to power, ego, trust and sense of self. We need a healthy relationship with our ego in order to thrive. Gut wisdom can help us find this truth within, while also deepening balance and harmony with inner and outer dynamics. Pay special attention to your digestion, agni, inner fire and intuition during this cycle as there will be ample guidance available. As Jupiter retrogrades on January 7th, he begins to retrace his steps back through Uttaraphalguni and then into Purvaphalguni until he goes direct on May 9th, 2016. Retrograde planets intensify the effects of a transit as the backward motion is an expression of the shadow nodes, Rahu and Ketu. The first half of the Jupiter in Leo cycle will provide us with a taste of what's to come in the second half. What did you learn over the last half of 2015? After January 7th, we will receive more opportunities to look at our personal mythology connected to power, relationships, masculine and ego more closely. Track the insights that come from July to January closely as these will likely be areas of your life that will intensify and increase in the second half of the Jupiter transit. To increase the intensity during Jupiter's retrograde cycle, Rahu will join Jupiter in Leo on January 29th, kicking up cravings, desires, confusion and uncertainty. He also brings worldly increases with him, however, Jupiter is spiritually oriented. Their energetics bring conflict which can bring a heightened confusion with it. Additionally, Saturn will be giving his gaze to Leo during this Jupiter transit which will request diligence, consistency and commitment. He insures hard work and struggles, but we must trust he has our best interest in mind in the long run. This Jupiter cycle is one of increase and expansion, one that will ultimately help us deepen our truth and a commitment to our own strength and power. How we get to this awareness of inner strength will vary, but the effects will undoubtedly be transformational. As Jupiter retrogrades back through Leo for three months, it is a time to gather resources, guidance, support and wisdom that you overlooked the first time around. Notice who and what returns, beckons and arrives once again. Get your needs met in new ways by saying yes to familiar, nourishing resources. Notice the needs that keep resurfacing asking you to look at them again and in new ways, with fresh eyes. Now is an ideal time to prepare for the upcoming transit with extra jyotish astrology guidance and support, as well as having a Jupiter yagya for a smoother transition. Read more about Jupiter in Leo. Jupiter and Rahu move closer to each other during this cycle, preparing for a collision January 30th as Rahu and Ketu change signs. With Jupiter at the edge of Leo and Rahu at the edge of Virgo, both planets are already in very close proximity, sandhi (in the gap between signs) and fragile. The nature of Jupiter and Rahu oppose each other. Jupiter is sattvic (pure) in its energy and oriented towards expansion, growth, wisdom and pure knowledge, whereas Rahu is demonic in nature, brings shadows, illusions, desires and cravings. We might see conflicts between shadow and light, truth and deception, spirituality and dogma increase at this time. Notice your convictions, righteous indignation and power trips in the coming days and weeks. Notice where you are hanging on tightly and refusing to relax, surrender or release. Find ways to keep grounding in the wisdom of your physical body as the truths you are searching for are within. Open your heart wider and track your emotional body wisdom for messages about what you need for deeper nourishment. Take time for meditation in order to give the mind a break. The shifts of Rahu and Ketu, as well as the retrograde motion of Jupiter, offer change and transformation in potent ways at this time. There is a certain instability and fragility occurring in the transits. Notice the effects this has on you and your personal experiences. This is a time for extra self care, guidance and resources that provide stability, support and clarity. It's also important to get extra planetary support through yagyas. Just after Jupiter goes retrograde on Thursday night, Moon leaps the tricky gap (gandanta) between Scorpio (water) and Sagittarius (fire), landing in Mula nakshatra, where he joins the Sun in this Sign. Ruled by Nirrti, the wife of adharma (against dharma), Mula brings chaos with it. How can you find your center and reclaim your power- even with the uncertainty, overwhelm and mounting challenges? Self care is essential tonight and tomorrow. Use healthy boundaries and nourish yourself on the four levels- mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. My Self Care Challenge begins this week! Be sure to follow along with my newsletter for daily resources, tools and support for gaining maximum inner support. Not on my newsletter? Sign Up Here. Friday, Moon continues through Mula nakshatra and requests that you declare a new inner resolve! Moon moves closer to Sun, preparing for a new Moon. Jupiter's drishti (gaze) to the Sun and Moon brings a softer ground to land on. He can cushion us with wisdom and knowledge. Ground, land and center. Ask spirit for guidance and support. Find your core and guard it closely. Ruling deity Nirrti, is a form of the dark goddess. Her three children are Fear, Danger and Death. The way you can prevent calamity and misfortune is through awareness, insight and deeply listening to your inner wisdom. This requires pausing and attending to your inner landscape. Mula causes chaos, which often means that you may resist or avoid the landing, listening or slowing down. Use preventative measures today for increasing support and stability. Heyam Dukham Anagatam ~ avert the danger which has not come. What do you need to do today that will prevent suffering in the future? Saturn and Venus are in exact degrees today, causing the tension between structure and flow to intensify. Where are you saying yes to life? Where are you saying yes to death? Creative powers are enlivened right now and requesting you pay close attention to what you need for ultimate nourishment. You may feel the pinches with relationships, creativity, comforts, money and health right now. What is your pain saying? What changes need to be made for greater stability and support in your life? Saturn enforces pruning and cutting away excess. Where there is pain, there is Saturn. He ultimately wants simplicity. Keep it simple and he will grant you ease. Moon moves to the final tithi of the dark half this evening, Amavasya, just as he arrives in PurvaAshada nakshatra. Apas brings her watery ways and flowing wisdom with her. Rejuvenate, cleanse and allow water to move through you with the intention of clearing away toxins, residue and stagnation. Saturday, Moon transits PurvaAshada nakshatra, becoming fully empty with the new Moon, Amavasya. Jupiter gives his supportive and nourishing gaze to both Sun and Moon, uplifting and encouraging increased wisdom and awareness. Ruling deity Apas is connected to this fierce, Ugra nakshatra known for its destructive tendencies. Her watery power exemplifies the potency of creativity and life force energy. It can change, transform and destroy- quickly changing the outcome of events. Water can be gentle, soft, flowing and cleansing, or it can sweep in and destroy in a matter of minutes, or with time. Water can be kind or harsh, yet its alchemical wisdom brings change and transformation- not matter what. Planetary ruler of PurvaAshada is Venus, the karaka for life force energy, shakti, as well as creativity, relationships, comforts and certain types of nourishment. With Saturn and Venus both in tight conjunction in Scorpio at this time, it's a reminder to seek integrated balance with opposing forces. Light and dark forces are strong at this time and request harmony in order for inner stability and support to increase. The new Moon is at 17:31 PST while Moon is in Sagittarius and PurvaAshada nakshatra. Mercury and Jupiter are both retrograde and Venus and Saturn are only a degree apart. The new Moon requests comfort and nourishment for the emotional body. Find ways to heal and support the feeling level of your being. Move towards the soft, gentle and kind. Use self care consciously to ground, land and get embodied. There is healing, moksha and release for those who attend to and honor their emotional body wisdom. How can you soften? What needs to be released so that you can find the comfort you seek? Drop the extremes, the intense overwhelm and land in simple steps and silence. Read more about the new Moon. Early evening, Moon shifts to the latter half of the Ashada constellation, UttarAshada. The Vishvadevas rule this fixed star pattern, which brings stability and lasting results. For those who use True Node calculations, Rahu and Ketu make their transit into Leo and Aquarius on Saturday the 9th at 00:16 PST. I use Mean Node calculations which do not account for the slight "wobble" of the planets. Their motion is averaged, which slightly delays their movement- when compared to True Node calculations. This is the standard choice of most sidereal, traditional jyotish astrologers. I will be sharing more about the upcoming transits in a separate post. Sunday, Moon continues through UttarAshada nakshatra, moving to Capricorn around 2 am. He joins retrograde Mercury here and receives drishti (gaze) from Mars, Rahu and Saturn. Moon has now entered its waxing phase. The mind and emotions may feel pressure, confusion and uncertainty. It will be important to decipher the difference between your emotional body and your mental body in the coming days as they will be dancing together tightly. Use your emotional body to determine what your needs are. Notice where you're letting the mind run the show. Ruling deities, the Vishvadevas are often referred to as the "all-gods" or universal principles that correlate to the Laws of Nature. These fourteen principles give rise to strength and stability, honor and integrity. Through walking with clarity, purity and inner resolve, one fulfills dharma. Trust your path and take firm, intentional steps. Walk with compassion for your self and others and let your heart move you towards right action. Early afternoon (around 13:00), Moon shifts to the 28th nakshatra, the spiritual and sacred Abhijit. As Moon moves through this cosmic gap between UttarAshada and Sravana nakshatra, place your attention on healing and transformation. Do nourishing things for yourself and attend to self care. Meditate, spend time in nature, be in peace and cultivate silence in order to hear the messages of spirit more closely. By 21:00, Moon moves to Sravana nakshatra and Vishnu brings his dharmic messages and support. Monday, Moon continues to move through Sravana nakshatra and Capricorn, receiving the gaze of Rahu, Mars and Saturn. Vishnu brings his dharmic messages and the ability to hear more clearly. He provides support for our dharmic path and brings wisdom through lineage, spiritual teachings and knowledge that has been passed down from generation to generation. There is ample intelligence available. How are you using your capabilities? Strategy is on your side. Clarify your steps and goals. Act mindfully. Early evening, Moon shifts to Dhanishta nakshatra and the Vasu Devas arrive to support your bright shining light. Light your inner lamp and step towards your truth. What does your soul need to express? What is it here to accomplish? Move towards this desire and let the light guide you. *All timing is given in Pacific Standard Time Zone.
