Days after the equinox, the September full Moon arrives on Monday the 24th at 20:52 MT. Moon is in sidereal Pisces and the constellation of Uttarabhadrapada at the time of fullness. There is movement, increased fluidity, and a desire for balance arriving with this Moon tide. Equinox expresses the equilibrium taking place in the environment- when days and nights become nearly equal in length. The darkness and the light within us and around us find some harmony, integration and balance. With Venus currently transiting Libra until January 1st, this theme is alive and well. Pisces also seeks balance, however it is through movement and release. Stagnation causes certain death. The turning of the cycles and the rotation of the wheel of life, is provoked at these seasonal junction points, or Equinox. Whether you are in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, the shift is arriving- causing the release and sparking an opening of the new. Pisces correlates to the 12th house of the zodiac- which expresses themes around loss, endings, release and letting go. The wisdom of the 12th house is expressed through the ancestors, reclusive tendencies and all matters of the spiritual realms. It is a junction point between endings and beginnings, openings and closings, spirit and material worlds. There is nothing mundane about this portion of the sky. Jupiter, the guru, rules Pisces and reminds us of the knowledge possible through this sign. As a water sign, it requests movement, fluidity, purification and attention to the emotional body. The September full Moon in Pisces and Uttarabhadrapada takes us into a deep dive- below the surface understanding of life and into the depths of our inner realms. Ruling deity of this constellation is Ahirbudhnya who rules unseen, hidden parts of our awareness. With the help of Ahirbudhnya, the unconscious parts of ourselves will rise to the surface, becoming conscious. The serpent of the depths seeks spiritual awakening, transformation and healing, and does so by asking us to look at our shadows. As a Naga, Ahirbudhnya has spiritual serpent energy that moves darkness to the light, stirring and awakening the unseen, making it dissolve into conscious awareness. In many ways this is a reflection of the endless cycle of transcendence and transformation. Darkness to light, pulling from our depths, and awakening insights and awareness; the new awareness provoking change and beginnings. Though we touch the surface, the intention of this constellation is to go back into the depths again and again. Coming up for air doesn't last long. It is the desire for expansion and growth that drives the movement and the return to the depths of our inner ocean. Ahirbudhnya supports this journey. This waning cycle comes with a request to journey into your inner terrain and pull up pearls of wisdom. This requires your willingness to look deep within and uncover the hidden, dark parts of yourself. An invitation to intensify your healing process and gather new guidance is arriving. There may be confusion and shadow keeping you from seeing clearly, but strive for clarity and insight anyway. Balance, integration and harmony are bursting forth, but not without required release and endings. Are you consciously allowing the letting go to take place? What veils of illusion are clouding your vision? What needs to be stripped away in order for you to see more clearly? Relationships and the feminine are particularly potent resources for this waning cycle. Are you listening to your inner Divine Feminine? Are you allowing her wisdom to support your balance? She is a requirement for your wholeness and inner balance. Let Her speak to you. As we move beyond the equinox, the Vedic celebration of Maha Navaratri arrives with the new Moon on October 9th. This is a powerful turning point in the Vedic Calendar when the Divine Feminine transforms and awakens. It is through her powerful dance that the seasonal shifts take place. We are embarking on the magical shift between seen and unseen, straddling the material and spiritual realms. This is a gap, a portal, that invites in depth, wisdom and powerful inner wisdom. Don't go back to sleep. The Navaratri celebration is an expression of what is taking place within Nature, through the Laws that govern Nature, marking an important transition within us and around us. Align with Nature and Her powerful energy of change and transformation during Navaratri. Ritualize your connections with Nature- in order to land more closely to your own inner wisdom, to Her wisdom. Strengthen your connection to self and Spirit. Navaratri is a poignant time in the Vedic Calendar. This ancient calendar is one that is dedicated to Nature and her cycles and rhythms, the planets, and most importantly the Moon. In the Vedic Calendar, time is connected to what Nature and the cosmos are doing, and these elements are intimately related. Navaratri occurs twice a year- in the "gap" seasons of spring and fall. These times are considered sandhi times; delicate times that feel like you are neither here, nor there. We might call it the netherworld. This time, though delicate, is considered sacred so use this time wisely. Read More About Navaratri the power of Navaratri. Creative Ritual Use this simple process to help you harvest a message from your grief and support its movement and release. 1) Take a few deep breaths and lean closer to your body sensations. Take your time and go slowly. 2) Notice the emotional body. What are you releasing right now? What losses have you faced in this past cycle? What grief is stirring within you? If you could find this grief living in your body, where would it be? Where do you feel this grief in your body? 3) Lean closer to this grief in your body. How does it feel? What colors, textures or images do you notice? Ask it to share with you. If your grief could talk, what would it say? If your grief could share a need with you, what would it say? 4) Create an image of your grief. How does this grief feel in your body? Create an image using paint, craypas, collage or any medium that inspires you. Spend at least 20 minutes with your grief image. When it feels complete, give it a title. 5) Harvest from your grief image. If it could speak to you, what would it say? Full Moon in Pisces and Revati nakshatra on October 5th at 12:39pm Mountain Time. Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac and Revati is the last constellation as well. Cultivating a relationship with endings and closure is important throughout the waning cycle. Pisces reminds us of death and letting go, as well as the 12th house. Matters of the 12th house connect with spirit and the ancestors, as well as the death realms and the feet. Alone time, retreats, meditation and seclusion are supported as well as themes that correlate to marriage and the bed. Release, endings, closure and finality are arriving. Make space for the new by intentionally letting go of what is no longer serving you. What doors are your closing? What must be let go in order to create space for the new? Revati nakshatra is ruled by the deity Pushan as well as the planet Mercury. Pushan provides nourishment and support for your travels. He helps one prosper and increase- in order to flourish and thrive. As an Aditya, he brings resources on the material plane of existence. Pushan is also a protector of the path and provides support for journeys and travels both earthly and astral. He prefers food that is easily digestible. Attend to release, letting go and closures. Big waves of emotion roll through in the coming weeks as you touch the past. Are you honoring these feelings and supporting the release process?! Make space for the new by clearing and cleaning away the excess, the old, the people and things that are not nourishing you. Simplify. Call in greater nourishment at this time. Let go of the past and the pain and hard ships that you've been clinging to. Make room for simple pleasures, deeper nourishment and comfort. Dream bigger! Expand what you think is possible for yourself. Clear away the old mental/emotional body programming that keeps you in lack, playing small and repeating old sabotage behaviors. What stories keep you in disbelief of your own power and magnificence? Creative Ritual * Create a list of self care activities that nourish and support your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies. * Use the four level check in regularly as well as EFT for identifying and moving emotions. 1) Using craypas, paints or pencils, create an image of your nourishment. What does nourishment feel like for you? Create an image that expresses this feeling using colors, textures and shapes. Allow 20 minutes at minimum for this nourishment image. Title your image. 2) Use your image to inspire a movement exploration. Let your body move in response to your nourishment image with an intention of "moving with your feelings of nourishment". What sensations emerge for you during your dance? What awareness? Allow 5 to 10 minutes for this movement exploration. I encourage you to extend this time frame as you recycle this process. 3) Harvesting. In your journal answer these questions: I am, I want, I need, I sense, I feel, I imagine. What deeply nourishes me? What no longer nourishes me? Where do I feel support in my life? Where do I need more support? What am I opening to? What am I closing to? This is a particularly powerful new Moon as it marks the end of a year long cycle, and the opening of a brand new year ahead. In the Vedic Calendar, this new Moon ushers in the Vedic Lunar New Year as well. Traditionally charts are cast for the year ahead, predicting the flavor and meaning of the upcoming year-long cycle. This happens every year in the Vedic month of Chaitra. This new cycle is a Hemalamba year- markedly different than the previous Durkmukha year which was filled with challenge, calamity and obstacles. This new Hemalamba year will provide more strength, material resources and a drive to succeed in the relative plane of existence. It is a time to overcome setbacks with clarity, determination and empowerment. The ancestors, or Manes, rule this cycle, which requires that you honor your lineage and the desires of your familial line. What needs are surfacing? How can you honor your ancestors more fully? What dharmic tasks need to be honored? Pisces represents a closing door, and an opening door, as the the final sign of the zodiac. Here, endings and closure take place, while potential and the new prepare and activate. Correlating with the 12th house, Pisces also aligns with the ancestors, the portion of the chart that connects us to the spirit world and those who are not in a body. Uttarabhadrapada is ruled by Ahirbudhnya and symbolized by the back legs of a funeral cot. Endings are provoked and release is inevitable. The bridge between material and spirit worlds is being burned. Deep transformation of life and death is taking place. What are you releasing once and for all? What is dying in your self and your life? What seeds are you planting for new growth? Ahirbudhnya is the serpent of the underworld. As a Naga (a positive snake, as opposed to the Sarpas which often bring deception) there is great potential for deep, inner work and lasting inner wisdom to arrive. Nagas bring resources and Ahirbudhnya offers a wealth of inner knowledge to arrive- for those who are willing to dive deeply into unconscious and subconscious terrain. You must go beyond the surface to harvest these pearls of wisdom! The coming waxing cycle provides momentum, yet tension between forward movement and transformation. Desire and determination are strong, but the mental body will feel frustrated, stuck and overwhelmed in the process. Keep moving anyway. Your consistent action steps are vital for progress to be made. Don't get stuck in the "how" and the minutia of details. Find clear, doable action steps and keep going. Are you getting stuck in the overwhelm and inner drama- which sabotages your success? Healing can take place in this cycle with creativity and digestion. Your creative process is the key to your transformation and change. Staying stagnant, stuck and resistant to change is not conducive to life force, Shakti and new growth. Though we are still in a powerful uprooting process, you can ease this by surrendering to the release. Resisting will only intensify the pain, hardship and challenges that are surfacing. When a challenge arrives, confront it head on. It's vital that you stay alert, awake to what needs to be released, removed and let go of right now. Your ability to digest, transform and release consistently and fully, provides a powerful foundation for new seeds to take root and a deeper harvest to arrive in the coming days and months (and years!) ahead. Seek balance- inner and outer- as you move into the new, and as you let go of the old. Relationships are a big part of this journey of transformation so allow them to be your mirror for growth and change. Some healing is possible with self and with "other" through the cycles ahead. With willingness you can uproot resistance and challenges that have kept you stuck in lack and malnourishment. Get clear on your needs and make these declarations known. Speak clearly and with effectiveness. Your inner clarity will determine the clarity you feel within your relationships, and how you get your needs met on much deeper levels. What do you really need in order to feel safe, grounded, stable and supported? Communicate your deeper needs and vulnerabilities. Let others in and speak your truth. Just after the new Moon, the spring celebration of Navaratri arrives to invite in the deep transformation process taking place within and in the environment. This celebration of the Divine Mothers, ends with Ram Navami, the birth date of Lord Rama. Vasantik Navaratri begins on March 28th and concludes on April 5th for 2017. During the nine day and night Navaratri celebration, the battle between light and dark forces enlivens. This battle between light and dark, good and bad, masculine and feminine, transformation and healing, is taking place within all beings at this sacred junction point. It is a time to heal and integrate polarities within. The Navaratri celebration is an expression of what is taking place within Nature, through the Laws that govern Nature, marking an important transition within us and around us. These important junction points (know as a gap, or sandhi in Sanskrit) happen multiple times a year, however, the Shardiya, or Maha Navaratri, junction point is considered the most powerful. Spring Navaratri is called Vasantik and occurs in the first month of the Vedic Lunar Calendar, Chaitra. This is a death cycle for both Northern and Southern hemispheres. As life is being called into silence in the North, and called into action for the South. In either case, doors are opening and closing. Align with Nature and Her powerful energy of change and transformation during Navaratri. Ritualize your connections with Nature- in order to land more closely to your own inner wisdom, to Her wisdom. Strengthen your connection to self and Spirit.
