The October new Moon arrives on the 27th at 21:39 MT while Moon is transiting Libra and Swati nakshatra. This new Moon also coincides with the powerful celebration of light, Diwali, in the Vedic calendar. Diwali (or Deepavali) is a very significant five day festival in the Vedic tradition. The most significant day of the Diwali festivities is on the new Moon. Diwali is actually a five day celebration that honors light, Lakshmi, and the divine resources available to us. Lakshmi is the giver of health, vitality, nourishment and wealth. The festival of light spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. Three of the most important days are dedicated to Dhanvantari, Hanuman, and of course the new moon being the most important of all, which is solely dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. Read more about Diwali and why this festival of lights is so important. This Libra new Moon is particularly delicate as it mirrors the vulnerability and weakness of the Sun- who is currently debilitated in Libra as well. This is a inward time of year for the Sun. The source of our light is dim and the new Moon highlights this lack of light. When Sun is debilitated, the physical body is more sensitive, but the spiritual body is more awake. Use this time to go inward, pause, rest and rejuvenate. This new Moon is a particularly powerful time for inner growth, deep listening, and self care. New Moon in Swati nakshatra brings a cycle of movement ahead. Change, travel, and wind come with this constellation. Vayu, the wind god, rules this portion of the sky and brings all kinds of movement with him. Subtle and small breezes, as well as powerful gusts, and everything in between, are all within his domain. What is your relationship with the wind right now? Vata may be particularly imbalanced in the coming weeks so be mindful of your prana. Avoid excess movement, travel and pushing to accomplish. Right now, less is more. Silence and rest are the best use of your time and energy. Jupiter is currently at the edge of Scorpio, poised for a major shift in the coming days. On November 4th, he will move into his own sign, Sagittarius, joining Saturn and Ketu here. For the next couple months, he will be transiting through the powerful gandanta of Mula nakshatra, ruled by the dark goddess, nirrti. This gap between water and fire supports immense uprooting, transformation and change on the psycho-emotional body levels. The awakening taking place with Jupiter in the coming months, supports the dharmic path and ushers in a whole new level of insight, wisdom and dharmic support. Right now, our relationship with support, guidance and wisdom is already shifting. Our Guru, Jupiter, is moving to a sign that he loves, which supports more balance and harmony with his natural qualities. It also means that he will not tolerate adharma, impurity, lack of wisdom and guidance on your path. Pay attention to the support and guidance showing up to support your dharmic path and start making this a priority. I'll be sharing more about this transit in an upcoming article. This is how the dark goddess, Nirrti, destroys your dharmic path. Creative Ritual Expanding your container, your capacity to hold and to release, can physically and metaphorically be done through the breath. With new Moon in Swati nakshatra, this is a good time to work closely with the breath, prana and your life force energy. 1. Breath Dance. Begin standing, lying down or sitting. Bring your awareness to your breath as it moves in and out of your body. Filling and letting go, opening and releasing, like waves moving in and out of the body. Track the movements and sensations in the body and let these guide you. The sensations will guide you into the physical body impulses, the messages of the body. As you continue to breathe and become more and more aware of the movements of the ribcase, let these movements exaggerate. These exaggerated movements are the making of your "breath dance". Continue to move from and with the movements of the ribcase as you breath. Explore, expand and develop your breath dance for at least 10 minutes. Let it evolve and as it does, continue to self track, noticing the body parts most alive and awake as you explore your body part sensations present. As you bring your breath dance to a close, ask yourself these questions: I sense, I feel, I imagine. 2. Create an image of your ribcase. What colors, textures, shapes and images arrive on the page as you draw your ribcase? I encourage you to get your hands involved in this process whether it be through painting directly with your hands, or smudging the craypas with your fingers. Let the hands be sensitized through the process. Get messy. Let the hands and fingers fully engage in this image. (Working with clay may be an alternate medium to work with). Title your image. Take at least 15 minutes for this. 3. Harvesting. When your image is complete, use it to harvest with further inquiry by asking it these questions: Ask your image if it has anything it would like to share with you: If your image could speak, what would it say? I am I want I need What am I opening to? What am I closing to? Are you curious what your Jyotish Chart can tell you about your souls purpose, your dharmic path? If used properly, Vedic Astrology can be one of the most straight forward, insightful tools you will encounter on your path. JOIN OUR NEXT FIVE DAY ONLINE DHARMA GATHERING!! The November new Moon arrives on the 7th at 09:02 am MT while Moon is transiting Libra and Vishaka nakshatra. This new Moon also coincides with the powerful day of light, Diwali, in the Vedic calendar. Diwali (or Deepavali) is a very significant five day festival in the Vedic tradition. The most significant day of the Diwali festivities is on the new Moon. This five day celebration honors light, Lakshmi, and the divine resources available to us. The festival of light spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. Three of the most important days are dedicated to Dhanvantari, Hanuman and of course the new moon being the most important of all, which is solely dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. Read more about Diwali and why this festival of lights is so important. This Libra new Moon calls for integration, balance and harmony. Ruling planet of Libra, Venus, is currently retrograde in its own sign, Libra as well. Retrograde Venus is causing relationships to be re-evaluated, re-assessed and returned to. Re-looking at all things Venus is vital for more balance in relationships, finances, comforts, and overall nourishment. This is an important opportunity to tip the scales in a different direction and find a more harmonious way with opposing forces. What needs are not being met? Where do you need to find more balance with your boundaries? Do your relationships feel imbalanced? Read more about the extended transit of Venus in Libra. The coming cycle instigates the need for balance, harmony and integration in new, more provocative ways. With new Moon in Vishaka nakshatra, the waxing cycle promotes gathering increased support and resources in order to invite in more balance into your life. Vishaka expresses duality, as it is ruled by two gods- Indra and Agni. Both rely on each other for support, growth, strength and purpose. Indra is the king of the gods, yet Agni is the priest. Neither can thrive without the wisdom and resources of the other. This is a reminder that duality must find its common ground, its middle way. Neither polarity exists alone, each must unify and allow for coexisting. Both Libra and Vishaka are powerful reminders of what is required in harmonious relationship and the ease of conflict. Release the binaries and find the common ground. Activate the process of relating and connecting. Both sides must reach toward the other in order for connection, communication and co-creation. Vishaka is an important reminder that no one can survive without help, support and guidance from a team and a community. What conflicts are surfacing right now in yourself and in your relationships? How can you find more balance with your inner conflicts? What would balance and harmony feel like in your life and relationships? Where are you noticing the imbalances in your life? Can you find a gentler, more harmonious way? This is a powerful time of emptying, releasing and clean up- especially for health, relationships and finances. Seek to re-balance your needs and priorities. Clarify boundaries and expectations. Plug the leaks and strengthen your ability to receive the nourishment you need. Creative Ritual What does empowerment feel like? How do you feel this energy in your body? Use my Tapping Meditation below to support an increase in your power. Then use this awareness to create an image and identify your needs. Take this surge of energy and channel it into powerful action steps! Once you create your image of power, share it with us in the Embodied Moon FB group! Step #1 How do you know if you are disempowered, disconnected from your inner source? When your breath is short, body is tight and mind is running the show, you are likely disconnected from your inner wisdom and power. This may present itself through emotional body reactions, mental stories that seem to be on repeat in your head, and physical body responses that constrict you, leaving you closed off to possibility, options, new choices. Read More and Listen to my Tapping Meditation for Empowerment Step #2 Create an image of what it feels like to be empowered, connected and feeling your inner strength. What colors, textures and images arrive? Using craypas, paints or pencils, create an image of your power. Create an image that expresses this feeling using colors, textures and shapes. Allow 20 minutes at minimum for this nourishment image. Title your image. Step #3 Use your image to inspire a movement exploration. Let your body move in response to your image with the intention of "moving with your feelings". What feelings emerge for you during your dance? What awareness? Allow 5 to 10 minutes for this movement exploration. I encourage you to extend this time frame as you recycle this process. Step #4 Harvesting. Three of the most important days are dedicated to Dhanvantari, Hanuman and of course the new moon being the most important of all, which is solely dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. Diwali is the celebration of light conquering darkness and the increase of positive, life supporting forces in our life. Multiple traditions celebrate Diwali, from Hindu, Jain to Sikh; over 15% of the world's population. During Diwali, Hindus celebrate the return of Lord Rama from his exile- a reflection of good over evil. Legend has it the kingdom was adorned in lights upon his return! Jain's celebrate the moksha of their guru, Mahavira, and his attainment of enlightenment during this time. Sikhs celebrate the sixth Guru who was released from capture and returned to the Golden Temple during Diwali. Plenty of stories to celebrate and honor! Dhanvantari kicks off the celebrations. This is a day of celebrating the father of Ayurveda, Lord Dhanvantari, physician to the gods and an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. A day dedicated to health and wholeness, as well as praying for longevity. Health is the biggest form of wealth and we can use this as a powerful reminder for total being, as well as a day to resource inner and outer balance. Seek balance on the inner and outer levels of life today. Eat lightly today and follow Ayurvedic routine and guidelines. Ask Dhanvantari for tools, wisdom and the ability to take action towards health and well being. Hanuman Puja comes next- the celebration of Lord Hanuman, the much loved and revered monkey god. His strength and devotion to Lord Rama, are honored today. (Some celebrate Kali on this day instead). Devote your efforts today to dharma, creating bold action steps towards actualizing your full potential and pray for the strength of Lord Hanuman. May we each awaken to the compassion, strength and love within us! Lakshmi pujas continue throughout the festivities. This exuberant festival of lights, is a powerful time of cultivation and celebration. Moon will be reaching towards its darkest, most inward point, in the 15th tithi (Amavasya). At this time we celebrate the light of lights within all of us. During this time, it is advised to light candles, leave a light on over night, buy new clothes, make offerings to Maha Lakshmi, eat sweets and enjoy the sweetness and abundance of life that she so generously offers us. Wealth, prosperity (material and spiritual), as well as beauty (inner and outer) are aspects of Lakshmi that are to be honored and treasured. She is also the giver of health and vitality- the most important health of all! In the days to come, let in the light, the abundance that is present in your life- no matter how small or nuanced. Turn on the light switch of your soul and let this be a poignant moment, intentionally driving out the shadows and inviting in more light to your life. Possibility, hope and joy are significant resources. Honor Lakshmi, light a candle at your altar and invoke her spirit of abundance and wealth. Make your altar dedications to her and sing your prayers and desires to her. I am on a mission to help sensitive souls connect with their inner truth and inner wisdom. It is the lowest point of the year for our light source. The light of the soul is dim and the attention turns inward towards your spiritual and physical body needs. Venus is also debilitated as it transits Virgo. Life force energy is weak and requires gentleness with health, vitality, nourishment and love matters. What are you noticing right now? How are you honoring this vulnerability? This is a cycle of finding and restoring a sense of balance and equilibrium. Attend to the spine as a resource for increasing your relationship with support and stability. Lean into business matters and the work directly with the marketplace. Create, sell, offer and hone your gifts. What do you have to share with the world? Cultivate relationships carefully at this time. There is support, but it is vulnerable. Get clear and specific about what you need and ask for it directly. Find the resources that can hold you, honor you and support your needs. Release and let go of relationships and partnerships that leave you feeling depleted and life less. Why are you settling for less than you deserve? Action, movement, building, planning and creating are all within his domain. As the celestial architect, he is responsible for creating the blueprint of the stars, bringing it to life through the zodiac. He is an artist, a powerful creator and takes big action steps. Send me a message to see if I have any openings: [email protected] This Week's Intention: Seek balance, integration and harmony- inside and out. Be diligent with your polarities. Find equality with your darkness and light. Monday begins on the heels of a new Moon, offering a sense of deep emptiness and release. With Sun debilitated right now in Libra, it's the lowest point of the year, with the least amount of light support and vitality. Vulnerability it high. Attend to health, wellness and nourishment. Go slow and get plenty of rest. Be gentle with your body and relationships. Easy does it, especially as Mars shifts to its exaltation sign at the first part of the week. The tendency will be to charge forward, but the rest of the planets aren't supporting this level of wild enthusiasm. Seek integration and balance with being vs. doing. The October New Moon occurred at 11:38 MDT on Sunday, the 30th, Coinciding with Diwali, the Festival of Lights. Moon is transiting Libra and Swati nakshatra at this time. This constellation is ruled by Vayu, the wind god, who brings powerful forces of change and movement with him. He is cosmic breath, prana, supporting all the internal Vayus. He is your breath of life, the breath of the gods, the breath of Nature. The immense strength of the Rudras comes from Vayu. Hanuman is a Rudra, who proved his extreme powers when he leaped to Lanka, saving Sita and upholding dharma. This right action was an act of devotion towards Lord Rama. This new Moon sparks an immense change process, spearheaded by Vayu himself. Read more about the New Moon in Libra Monday, October 31st Moon in 1st and 2nd tithi Pratipad and Dvititya Just as Monday begins, Moon arrives in Vishaka nakshatra, activating the dual god, Indragni. This dual rulership between the king and high priest, represents the necessity for co-creation in order to sustain life. Indra and Agni are separate deities, but when they combine, they increase their individual power. Indra is the king of the gods, while Agni is the transformational energy of fire- king and priest. Each supports the other and makes their roles in life possible. Moon is still seeking balance, integration and harmony today. Support your emotional body with grounding and stabilizing resources. Just before Mars shifts to Capricorn, Moon moves to its debilitation sign, Scorpio, joining Saturn and Venus here. Seek balance with inner and outer. At 20:35 MDT, Mars moves to his exaltation sign, Capricorn, until December 11th. This begins many fiery days ahead, with potent action oriented expression, as the warrior planet steps into his most powerful sign. There is much movement in the weeks ahead. The intention and driving force is nourishment and attaining the nectar of life. However, this process must be done with balance and attention to integration and harmony. If there is imbalance within physical, mental, emotional or spiritual bodies, challenges, pain and hardship will arrive. Pay close attention to your inner aggression and force. At the same time, notice where you are resisting the nourishment you crave. Read more about Mars in Capricorn Tuesday, November 1st Moon in 2nd and 3rd tithi Dvitiya and Tritiya Early in the morning, Moon moves to Anuradha nakshatra in Scorpio. Moon will be debilitated until Thursday, creating an inward pull, with deeper introspection. This also increases the vulnerability at this time- with both Sun and Moon debilitated, Ruling planet of Scorpio, however, is now in its exaltation sign, bringing a certain determination and renewed energy of hope and power. Mars has not yet gained strength in degrees, so there is also some sensitivity and inward pull with Mars. This is a time to be very diligent with action steps, passion and purpose. Do not push too hard or force actions. Align with ease and gentleness as much as you can. Stay grounded and in the body, as the tendency will be to disconnect. Befriend the body today, befriend the self. Activate self love. Missing my daily, weekly and monthly jyotish posts? Free access ends Nov 15th! Sign up now for a Basic Membership. Wednesday, November 2nd Moon in 3rd tithi Tritiya Moon moves to Jyeshtha nakshatra mid morning, enlivening Mercury and Indra's power. As the king of the devas, he rules dharmic acts, positions of power and authority. Indra is life force energy himself. Worship Indra and you are worshiping prana. He rules the senses, which also means your sensitivity. Channel this sensitivity and power into directions and actions that move you forward and promote integration and balance, harmony and embodied momentum. Moon is in exact conjunction with Saturn and Venus today. These planets express ultimate balance and harmony. Seek resolution in mind and emotions today. Release what brings pain and illusion, while stepping into stillness and grounding. Find your center and deepen your roots here. Thursday, November 3rd Moon in 4th tithi Chaturthi Late morning, Moon leaps into Sagittarius and Mula nakshatra. Rahu gives his shadowed gaze as Moon moves through the challenging gandanta (gap) between water and fire signs. The entire constellation of Mula is considered a gandanta, a challenging gap that invokes chaos, uncertainty and uprooting. Ruling deity, Nirrti, is the dark goddess who brings adharma- that which is against dharma. Often this nakshatra will pull you from your path and purpose, but it can also bring you back- if you are willing to use the challenges as resources for deeper grounding and stability. Today, embodiment and simplicity are essential. Less is more. Avoid pushing or forcing outcomes. Find ways to soften and be gentle with yourself. Friday, November 4th Moon in 5th tithi Panchami The morning begins with Mula's disheveled offerings, so keep it simple and don't push too hard. Simple steps are required. Get in the body and stay out of the misery. Just before noon, Moon moves into Purvashadha nakshatra. Apas, the water goddess, provides flow, movement, and fluidity- especially for your internal waters. Move your body and your emotional body will follow the flow. Notice where you are being aggressive with yourself. Stop the war, stop the violence, within. Integrate and harmonize your masculine and feminine energy, your soft and your hard. Saturday, November 5th Moon in 6th tithi Sashthi Water is a primary resource for today as Moon continues through the domain of the water goddess the majority of the day. She provokes movement and flow of the inner waters. Find ways to support the channels and fluidity- through physical movement, crying, creating art, aligning with the heart, softening and stepping towards stillness. This is a time of rejuvenation and restoring. Early afternoon, Moon moves to Uttarashada and the all-gods arrive with support, resources and dharmic alliance. Stay true to course! Activate and align with your soul's purpose. Take steps towards clarity and your inner truth. Sunday, November 6th Moon in 7th tithi Saptami Moon continues through Uttarashada, provoking the Laws of Nature to activate. These universal principles apply to everyone- whether you are consciously aware of them or not. These "all-gods" are Goodness (Vasu), Truth (Satya), Determination (Kratu), Talent (Daksha), Time (Kala), Enjoyment (Kama), Firmness (Dhrti), Ancestors (Kuru), Abundance (Pururavas), Joy (Madrava), and Pleasantness (Rochana), Sight (Lochana), Fame (Dhvani), Leadership (Dhuri). These are all important characteristics to develop. It is through the feeling level obtained through the front half of this constellation, that these attributes can be obtained within, through this constellation. Mid morning, Moon arrives in the sacred 28th nakshatra, Abhijit. This is a spiritual portal that awakens the subtle layers of being. Moon continues through this gap until late afternoon. Use this time for meditation, stillness, integration, spending time in nature, and aligning with your inner realms. As Moon shifts into Sravana, Vishnu arrives with his wisdom of harmony and dharmic alignment. Strengthen your power and purpose. Just before midnight, Venus moves to a new friends sign, leaping into the tricky gandanta between watery Scorpio and fiery Sagittarius. Venus arrives in Mula nakshatra, the first of three in Sagittarius. The entire constellation of Mula is considered a gandanta, a gap, that provokes challenges, uprooting and change. As planets pass through this nakshatra, an inevitable change takes place with the indications of that planet. Mula is infamous for chaos, calamity, uprooting and imbalance, as well as adharma- that which is against dharma. At the same time, Mula can also bring great depth and spirituality, but often due to navigating hardship and challenge. Read more about Venus in Sagittarius Monday, November 7th Moon in 8th tithi Ashtami Moon continues through Sravana nakshatra until late afternoon. Vishnu brings his dharmic support, his all-pervasive awareness and expansion to the day. There is a certain strength in the inner realms today. Tap into the subtleties of mind and emotions. Land and linger within the inner landscape. Stay in the present, arrive in the stillness, conquer the fear of past and future. Expansion of knowledge and wisdom comes to those who look. Seek this wisdom within. Moon shifts to Dhanishta late in the day, sparking Mars energy and the light of the Vasu Devas. Take the inner awareness that arrived earlier in the day, into creative action! *Timing used is Mountain Daylight Time. Missing my daily, weekly and monthly jyotish posts? Free access ends Nov 15th! This new Moon sparks an immense change process, spearheaded by Vayu himself. Deep uprooting takes place in this waxing cycle. Expect transformation and release to intensify in the coming days. The changes coming will be swift, sudden and unexpected. This process is dharmic, but uncertain, spiritual, yet may be confusing and uncomfortable. Release is occurring, which supports opening to new space, potential and possibility. Attending to the letting go process with intention is vital. How do you want to attend to the new, sacred space within you? What are you inviting in? Let it be conscious. At the time of the new Moon, Mars is on the horizon at the very edge of Sagittarius. The doorway is open between fire and earth, as Mars prepares to shift into its sign of exaltation. The cycle to come jump starts some courageous leaps. What are you leaping towards? What are you leaping away from? Gather momentum, take action, create and co-create. Above all, clear and release stagnation and that which doesn't honor your basic needs for nourishment and support. This includes relationships, behaviors, limiting beliefs, grief and emotions, You will need to dig very, very deeply to find the pearls, but it will be well worth your efforts. Saturn and Venus are also in exact conjunction at the time of the new Moon, as they transit through Scorpio right now. Pain, darkness and grief may rise to the surface. Be gentle with relationships and ask for extra support in the coming days. You'll need it, but may resist it simultaneously. The need for structure and flow becomes self evident. This influences your relationships greatly. Attend to dark matter that is rising to the surface right now. Your hidden grief is requesting you look closely right now. Keep it moving. This is a time of deep integration and increasing inner/outer harmony with shadow and light, as well as all polarities. Attend to the integration process diligently. The first night of Deepavali, or Diwali, begins October 26th. This is a five day celebration of Maha Lakshmi, honoring her divine abundance. Goddess Lakshmi blesses us with wealth on all levels of life- through health, vitality and wellness, as well as monetary abundance, resources and riches. She supports the flow of love to the heart and brings harmony, balance and integration to the entire body. The most significant day of Diwali is on the new Moon day, Amavasya. Honor and celebrate Maha Lakshmi on the 30th with sweets, new clothing, chanting, and many lights! Light your lights! Traditionally we leave candles lit or lamps in your home turned on all through the night. This will beckon more light to greet you in the coming months and signals Lakshmi to visit you! Open the doors of your heart and allow the nourishment of beloved Lakshmi to wash you with her generosity and gifts. Monday, October 24th Moon in 10th tithi Dashami Late morning, Moon leaps through the tricky gandanta (gap) between Cancer and Leo. The Moon will feel as though it's jumping from water to fire. Once in Leo, Moon enters Magha nakshatra, which connects to the ancestors- specifically the father's lineage. There's a certain magnanimous flavor to this star. It's bold, powerful and showy. As Moon arrives in Leo, it joins Rahu here as well. Tomorrow, it will move to the inside of Rahu, re-starting the Kala Sarpa yoga effects taking place on and off until January. Today, allow a final release to take place. Get clear on needs, action steps and choices. Commit and land within your power place. Allow your heart and feelings to guide you. There's a certain stripping away of the ego taking place. Shred and let go of what is not serving you. Unmask yourself. Tuesday, October 25th Moon in 11th tithi Ekadashi Magha's powerful influence of change continues until midday. Attend to ancestral support and honor the wisdom of Spirit arriving. Once Moon shifts to Purvaphalguni, Bhaga lends his abundance, comfort and support through resources and relationships. He is famous for offering sensuality and sexuality, as well as the pleasures of life. Right now, these needs will require you dive deeply into your unconscious terrain and clean up resistance, shadow and hidden grief. Make more space for the pleasures of life by clearing out your inner realms. This is a time of deep release, albeit painful at times. What are you inviting in? What is sacred enough to be in your life? As Moon moves into Bhaga's nakshatra, he will be in exact conjunction with Rahu. Once Moon shifts to the inside of the serpent's head early evening, a two week period of Kala Sarpa yoga begins once again. Since Moon and the other planets are moving towards Ketu, I'm considering this an Kala Amrita yoga. Deep liberation is available right now, but only if you allow the process to fully take place. Gather resource, support and guidance for deep awakening. Let go, let god. Debilitated Sun and Mercury are also in exact conjunction at this time. Mind is sharp, yet very inward and introspective. Meditation is a good use of your time. This is the last day to register for Awakening Through Grief!! Don't miss this powerful nine month journey into Heart and Spirit. Doors are closing! Sun and Mercury are still only a degree a part. The mental and physical bodies are in a battle of strength. The only way to arrive in the now is through the body. Get embodied and keep the mind in check. Creativity continues today under the gaze of Vishvakarma. Put your ideas into action and start building! Take a leap, take a step, move forward. The October New Moon occurs at 11:38 MDT on Sunday, the 30th, Coinciding with Diwali, the Festival of Lights.
