This unique, powerful full Moon occurs on July 16th at 15:37 while Moon is transiting Sagittarius and Uttarashada. Moon is at the very edge of Sagittarius still conjunct the tight dynamic of Saturn and Ketu. Rahu, Sun and Venus give their direct gaze. The pressure of this full Moon intensifies with a partial lunar eclipse- which begins at 12:43 MT and ending at 18:17 MT. Though this eclipse is not seen from North America, the impact will still be felt. In the Vedic calendar, this is also considered the fullest full Moon of the year, Guru Purnima. Eclipses are considered a powerful spiritual occurance in the Vedic tradition while Guru Purnima is the most auspicious day to honor one's gurus, teachers and guides. The magnitude of this spiritual event should not be overlooked. This is an incredible opportunity to spend time attending to the inner realms and one's spiritual growth. Use this day to honor your ancestors and teachers, your spiritual lineage and the wisdom that is guiding you in this lifetime. The constellation of UttarAshada is fixed- which gives stable, lasting results that offer great benefits. Vishvadeva rules this portion of the sky and provides integrity and alignment with ones highest purpose. Adharma (that which goes against dharma) is not tolerated. Integrity is key with this constellation. The all-gods who rule this domain remind us of virtue, goodness, truth, determination, talent, time, enjoyment, firmness, sight, fame and leadership. These are non-negotiable attributes of one's dharmic path. Where are you aligned with your purpose? Where are you misaligned? As the July full Moon occurs, the two week eclipse portal also closes. This is the ending of a delicate and challenging time period which forced challenges and shadow work to the surface. The two week eclipse portal closes with a powerful Cancer full Moon and total solar eclipse. Emotions are bigger than normal, inner waves more extreme, and lunar intelligence at peak levels. This waxing cycle has brought challenges to the surface for re-evaluation. Your shadows have been intensifying parts of yourself that need greater awareness. It's time for an upgrade and a change in direction. Are you ready to pivot? The challenges surfacing are likely not new issues emerging, but rather old parts of yourself that have been ignored. Without intensification they likely won't get the attention that is required for transformation and healing. Now that your pain and discomfort has your focused attention, what needs to shift? Have you been paying attention to your shadow parts? What do you need to shift or change in your approach? What does your pain tell you about your deeper needs? On Sunday the 20th, the full Moon arrives at 22:16 MT while Moon is transiting its own sign, Cancer, and Pushya nakshatra. The lunar eclipse will already be under way. This total lunar eclipse begins at 19:36 PM and will complete at 00:48 MT on the 21st. The maximum eclipse occurs at 22:12 MT. This particular eclipse will be visible from Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean and the Arctic. From a Vedic perspective, it is not advised to be outside during an eclipse or to look directly at the eclipse. Wear a head covering if you have to be outside so you don't absorb the shadow. Ideally, this is a time for spiritual practices such as meditation, chanting and fasting. Set intentions and honor the sensitivity of this time. It is also widely recognized that during and between eclipses, starting new endeavors will not bring positive results. No new projects, relationships or activities should start in the eclipse portal. Notice what needs are arriving, then take action after the eclipse portal closes. Best to lay low, attend to spiritual pursuits, get extra rest and work with your inner shadow very consciously during this cycle. At the time of the full Moon, multiple planets give their gaze to the Moon. North shadow node, Rahu, conjuncts Moon- causing intensification of the emotional body as well as confusion, uncertainty and shadowed intelligence. Making big decisions leading up to the eclipse (and even days afterward) is not ideal. Jupiter, Mercury, Ketu and Sun give their drishti to the Moon at the time of the full Moon and eclipse. Moon energy is expansive yet distracted. Take time to ground, go slow and simplify your steps. This is not a time to push, force or take risks. In the days following the eclipse, you will likely notice a release, purging and clearing taking place. Expect some break through or new awareness to emerge. The clouds will part, the veil will lift, and the shadow will lessen. This is an important time to pay attention to needs that are surfacing and refocus. It's time for a life upgrade! Where are you playing small, or allowing victim behavior to disempower you? Release the lack, uncertainty and resistance to change. What steps can you take to move closer to your dreams, goals and desires? Pushya nakshatra is notorious for bringing the nourishment. The coming cycle can support you with gains- if you make space for them. Your willingness to clear and purge your shadows and wounds, will allow you to hold the new and invite in more of what you need. Wisdom, guidance, universal support and abundance comes with Pushya nakshatra. It is a benevolent star that allows for needs to be met. However, effort and alignment are required. Remember that needs can not be met if you do not know what they are. It's time to expand and ask for your big desires! Clarify needs, ask for your needs to be met, and be prepared to receive them. Your willingness to get clear will determine your capacity to attract, align and be more fully nourished. In the coming cycle, gains and growth present themselves. Say yes to expansion, increase and resources that support and strengthen your deep sense of nourishment. It's ok to ask for more of what you need. You are enough and you deserve the nourishment of life! Wondering what to focus on in 2019? Read my Sidereal Horoscopes. Send me a message to see if I have any openings: swatijrjyotish@gmail.com The July Full Moon comes with a trifecta of cosmic events occurring simultaneously. In addition to this Capricorn full Moon, a total Lunar Eclipse takes place, the longest of the century. In the Vedic Calendar, this July full Moon is also considered the most sacred full Moon of the year, called Guru Purnima. Eclipses are considered a powerful spiritual occurance in the Vedic tradition and Guru Purnima is the most auspicious day to honor one's gurus, teachers and guides. The magnitude of this spiritual event should not be overlooked. This is an incredible opportunity to spend time attending to the inner realms and one's spiritual growth. Spend time on this day honoring your ancestors and teachers, your spiritual lineage and the wisdom that is guiding you in this lifetime. This Capricorn Full Moon takes place on the 27th at 14:20 MT while the lunar eclipse is already under way. Sravana nakshatra rules this expansive full Moon and the cycle ahead, offering spiritual insight, dharmic support and resources to sustain ones path. Lord Vishnu rules over this portion of the sky, gifting the constellation of Sravana with momentum for one's purpose. He sustains and upholds that which supports the dharmic path. If it is life supporting and honors Natural Law, Vishnu will bless it and help it thrive. If it does not bring life and sattva (purity), it won't get his support. Sravana nakshatra reminds us to align with our inner wisdom and to strengthen the capacity to listen for truth. What is your truth? What is your deepest intention and soul's purpose? What is the driving force and inner intelligence that gives you strength? Put emphasis here and pay close attention in the coming cycle for reminders. Gather resources, support and guidance to assist your clarity, purpose and inner guidance. If it's not nourishing you, let it drop away- or it will likely fall away on its own. Mars, Moon and Ketu are in exact alignment during the full Moon and lunar eclipse. Moon will be sandwiched in between these fiery, heated planets- causing emotional heat, aggressive expressions and release of anger. The coming cycle will support the release of heat in the emotional body. Are you paying attention to the intelligence of your anger? What does this heated emotion tell you about your needs and passions? Find ways to support this release in healthy and life supporting ways. Avoid taking your aggression out on others and be mindful that everyone will be feeling the extra heat at this time. At the time of the full Moon, Mars will be its brightest in the sky. Take a peek at the fiery planet in the night sky. It will be the closest its been to the Earth since 2003. Eclipse Portal Wisdom Three eclipses take place over the span of a month, occurring back to back. The July New Moon in Gemini arrives with a Partial Solar Eclipse, marking the opening of this shadowed portal. The Full Moon in Capricorn on July 27th takes place with a full Lunar Eclipse. Usually, eclipses come in pairs, however this eclipse cycle brings a third eclipse with the new Moon in Cancer on August 11th. A partial Solar Eclipse closes the portal and will support a rich harvest with depth and insights. There is an interesting theme with this eclipse portal. The Gemini new Moon in Punarvasu Nakshatra creates an opening for deeper nourishment to be confronted. What is missing in your support team? Where are you feeling depleted or malnourished? This new Moon will provoke challenges with disconnection to rise to the surface. The desire to be whole, more balanced and unified within self and life increases. Mid eclipse cycle, the full Moon in Capricorn and Sravana nakshatra will ask you to refine and take steps towards dharma- that which sustains and supports you and your inner awareness. The deconstruction of old patterns and belief systems that are standing in your way must be allowed to crumble and release. You will feel the fullness of what does not serve you. What do you want to replace this old, outmoded way of being? What resources and behaviors can support more harmony, ease and gentleness in your life? Closing this eclipse portal will be a partial solar eclipse and a new Moon in Cancer and Ashlesha Nakshatra. If you've been hiding behind false pretenses, this will be a time of unmasking and clarifying the changes that must take place. This particular closure will force you to identify your trust issues- inner and outer. Where are you hiding behind ego and avoiding your deeper knowing? In what ways are you pretending to feel safe, without actually acknowledging your fears? You may remember that the first solar eclipse of the year on January 31st was also in Ashlesha nakshatra. What did you learn and confront in the previous eclipse cycle? This is an opportunity for you to retrace your steps and revisit any unfinished business with Sarpa, the serpent of transformation. This eclipse cycle is an opportunity to spiral up and awaken from your slumber! Step into your power by identifying and confronting your shadows, illusions and stories. There is great potential in the coming month to release the past, the undigested thoughts and stories clogging your body wisdom. As you clear and let go of these shadowed parts, there is space for moving forward in more empowered, courageous ways. First, you must be willing to awaken from your negligence, laziness and illusion. The more courage you step into, the more you will succeed! Remember that solar eclipses awaken masculine parts of ourselves and help us confront ego based iterations of self, ideologies and belief systems. There will be deconstruction and forced awareness rising to the surface. The purpose of lunar eclipses is to support the confrontation of the shadowed feminine, identifying emotional body blockages and disconnections within receptivity. Solar and lunar eclipses always come in pairs, thus supporting confrontation and release of both masculine and feminine, the ultimate polarities of existence. The result of confronting the shadow is to create more conscious awareness of our unconscious self. With more consciousness, the grip of these illusions lessens, allowing us to create new possibilities- and ultimately make vastly different choices. As we enter this eclipse portal, notice the themes and challenges you have been confronting recently. What is intensifying? What is forcing you to look? What stories, experiences and relationships are encouraging you to look more closely? Continue to dig in and lean closer. Ask for support, resources and guidance so you aren't walking alone. The total lunar eclipse of July 27th begins at 11:14 am MT and will end at 17:28 MT. The maximum eclipse will occur at 14:21 MT. This eclipse will not be visible from North America, however it is still impactful. Creative Ritual Your dharma is not something outside of yourself. The biggest mistake you are likely making with your dharma, is thinking it is a destination beyond you. The truth is, your dharma is not something outside of yourself. It is likely hidden in the day to day tasks you perform. Your dharma is hiding! It is waiting patiently for you to discover it, awaken and activate it with awareness and action steps. It is likely hidden in the day to day tasks you perform. Your passions are hidden within the function and formality of your actions. No doubt some adjustments need to be made in order for increasing your fulfillment, but don't discount the fact that you are likely already aligned with your dharma and purpose in some capacity. Don't believe me? Follow these action steps below to see what I mean. In my next step, I will be sharing a podcast to help you identify what is holding you back from moving forward with your wild and passionate life! But first, I want to help you make some connections. Where Purpose, Passion and Function Meet. 1) Start by making a list of your passions. What are your greatest joys and what activities bring you deep happiness? What do you wish you could do every day? What inspires you? What are you most passionate about in life? List these vital resources for your life. Don't hold back. 2) Next, make a list of your everyday activities. Everything from cooking to cleaning. Start with morning duties all the way to bedtime. Make sure chores are on the list and also the ways you are giving to others. 3) Look for connections and nuances in your lists. How do your passions and daily activities align with these categories: Creativity & Creating Nurturing & Nourishing Healing & Vitality Guiding & Counseling, Spirit & Wisdom Some of your activities may not seem to align with any of these categories! It may feel like a stretch, but even a chore like cleaning can be an act of "creating" and "spirit". It's an activity that is creating a clean space and making your home more sacred- depending on your intention. Attending to others and their needs can fall into any of these categories, so really listen to what themes are most alive for you in each of your roles. These are important resources to be aware of. We will use your discoveries for further exploration in my coming Dharmic Steps, so keep harvesting your list and making connections. 4) Circle themes and connections you see in your list of passions and your list of daily chores. What category appears to have the most circles? Where do you seem to align your actions most of the time? What other connections and conclusions can you come to? 5) Harvesting Questions. Answer these questions in your journal: How do your passions and everyday activities align? Where is there crossover? Where do you wish there was more? What categories are the most prevalent on both of your lists? Your final step of this process is to ask three people who are close to you what they see as your top three strengths and assets. This will likely give you an idea of how others see you from the outside. Things that you may be missing about yourself! How do these qualities relate to the above categories? You'll need this list and your discoveries for Dharmic Step #3 and I'll be sharing a special podcast with you to deepen your process. Keep going and use these resources to deepen your dharmic understanding. Jyotish Astrology Basics ~ for Transformation and Healing Are you seeking clarity, insights and wisdom for your healing path? Send me a message to see if I have any openings: swatijrjyotish@gmail.com The August full Moon coincides with a Partial Lunar Eclipse, opening a two week eclipse portal that awakens dharma, right action and purpose. Are you aligned or misaligned? On August 7th at 12:10 pm Mountain time, the Capricorn full Moon arrives as Moon transits Sravana nakshatra, the domain of Vishnu. The Partial lunar eclipse begins at 09:50 am Mountain time with the maximum eclipse at 12:20 pm Mountain time, and ending at 14:50 mountain time. During a lunar eclipse, Sun, Earth and Moon align and the Earth casts its shadow on the Moon. Because this is a partial lunar eclipse, the shadow of the Earth will only cover a portion of the Moon. Lunar and solar eclipses happen in pairs. A lunar eclipse always occurs about 2 weeks before or after a solar eclipse. On some occasions, a lunar eclipse can be both preceded and followed by a solar eclipse. This lunar eclipse kicks off a two week eclipse portal that closes with a full Solar eclipse on the new Moon August 21st. The upcoming solar eclipse is particularly important for the United States as it will shadow the majority of the USA. It is the first total solar eclipse in 99 years to cross coast-to-coast and the first to pass through any part of the lower 48 states in 38 years. Though the solar eclipse is an astonishing astrological event and an extremely rare occurrence, the Vedic perspective does not advise looking directly at the eclipse or being outside during the eclipse. From a Vedic perspective, it is never advised to be outside during an eclipse, or to look at it directly. If you must be outside, make sure your head is covered. Essentially you are absorbing shadow when you look at or are out during the eclipse- especially if it is visible in your location. It is like taking on more Rahu, or serpent energy, and is thought to bring more calamity and "shadowed awareness" into ones life. The lunar eclipse also marks a delicate two week gap between lunar and solar eclipses. It is not advised to start new projects at this time, nor make big decisions. Best to lay low, attend to spiritual pursuits, get extra rest and work with your inner shadow very consciously. As the lunar eclipse and full Moon arrive on Monday, an emphasis on dharma and right action awakens. The full Moon in Capricorn and Sravana invite in Vishnu's powerful sustaining energy. He is responsible for maintaining dharma, lineage, wisdom and right-action. When you are aligned with your purpose fully, there is ease, support, and progress. When you are going against dharma and right action, there is challenge, calamity and misfortune. However, even with challenge, there is opportunity for learning, growth and transformation. Do you know what it feels like to be aligned with your dharmic path? This full Moon and eclipse portal requests balance, integration and alignment. Right action is a focus and priority. Use action with awareness and wisdom. Take consistent steps towards goals and intentions. Build momentum based on your previous actions and choices. What moves you closer to your dharmic truth and life purpose? What moves you away from it? Rahu and Ketu are currently transiting the gaps between Leo and Aquarius, preparing to transit into new signs on August 18th, just prior to the total solar eclipse. Rahu and Ketu are eclipse points, the shadow nodes. They show us our biggest karma in this life time as well as where trauma and disconnection lives within the body. As Rahu prepares to move to Cancer and Ketu shifts to Capricorn for the coming 1.5 years, we are all feeling the impact of shifting karma. Look for a special article about the impact of this transit in the coming days. Are you on my newsletter list? Though the eclipse portal is not the time to start new projects and endeavors, it is a time to work directly with your shadow, wounds and challenges. You may notice more confrontation with your own darkness and mirrors from others. What do you notice about your shadow work? Are you leaning closer or pushing past it? Are you listening to the messages or avoiding them? Look at your jyotish chart and notice where Rahu and Ketu sit in your natal chart. What themes do they enliven in the houses and signs they sit in? What other planets and houses do they impact from their positions? These themes will be enlivened during the eclipse portal so pay attention to what shows up. Rahu and Ketu also impact our dharma and life purpose as they show why we have incarnated in this life time. What do they tell you about your life path? Sun and Mars transit Cancer at the time of the full Moon and lunar eclipse, setting the tone for the eclipse portal. As they move through Ashlesha nakshatra, Sarpa energy is enlivened. Sarpa is a mischievous serpent energy that can bring darkness and deception as well as mysticism and occult knowledge. It is time to shed and release your old skin. Where are you still clinging to parts of yourself that aren't serving you? Where are you stuck in your own darkness and illusion? Where are you by-passing and avoiding your grief, pain and heart ache? Move into right-relationship with your shadow and seek balance with light and dark forces. Use the resources below to confront and identify your path and purpose more directly. Use this time to set intentions and goals. What big life goals have yet to bear fruit? What actions and choices need to be taken so you can be in alignment with your path more fully? What support and resources do you need in order to move forward? What needs to be extracted and removed for more gentleness and ease? The week begins as Jupiter begins his retrograde motion back through Virgo. Jupiter will be retrograde until June 9th. Monday, February 6th Moon in 11th tithi Ekadashi Moon lands in Mrigashirsha nakshatra just as Monday begins. This is the Moon's constellation, which enlivens Soma, the divine nectar of life. There is growth, ojas and immense creative power available in this portion of the sky. Through extending and expanding your reach, you will find the nourishment, the resources and resilience to thrive, succeed and become deeply nourished. Moon has entered its mulitrikona degrees, which still expresses strength and power from the emotional body. Jupiter expands and increases this feeling level. Where are you playing small and resisting the nourishment of life? What part of you is too afraid to take a powerful leap forward? Look carefully and notice where you are holding yourself back. Reach towards resources that support your full potential, your deepest nourishment. Early evening, Moon shifts to Gemini. Surrender to your creative spirit. Tuesday, February 7th Moon in 12th tithi Dvadashi Mars, Ketu and Saturn give their gaze to the Moon as she transits Gemini. Just as the day begins, Moon shifts into Rudra's domain, the storm god. This star is notorious for powerful explosive energy which must be channeled for effective results. There is usually a build up of emotion that leads to an outburst, or purge. Emotional release is inevitable, but requires that you lean into your inner resistance. Where are you missing your emotional body wisdom? What parts of yourself are being repressed and avoided? If you aren't in touch with you're emotions, you will be missing an important relationship with your power. Just before midnight, Moon lands in Punarvasu. Take a deep breath. Wednesday, February 8th Moon in 13th tithi Trayodashi As Moon moves through Punarvasu nakshatra, the mother of all goodness and resources, Aditi, arrives with her nourishment and support. It doesn't always come in tangible goods, but through wisdom, understanding and acceptance. She honors you with resources like a mother to a child, providing comfort and ease. In order to harvest the wisdom of the day, it will require a retracing of your steps. Re-visit some old ground in order to gather the riches. Early evening, Moon shifts to its own sign, Cancer, while Mercury and Sun give their gaze. It's time to get clear, focused and strategic. Where do you feel the lack of nourishment? Where are you resistant to getting your needs met? Just before midnight, Moon arrives in Pushya. Nourishment is in abundant supply. Are you able to receive it? Thursday, February 9th Moon in 14th Chaturdashi Moon moves through the nourishing star, Pushya, today. There is support and guidance, wisdom and deep holding, for those who are in right-relationship with Saturn (ruler of this constellation). As painful and grief inducing as Saturn is, he also upholds structure, support and the necessary containment for safety and security. He provides vital wisdom from the body if you slow down enough to listen. Your job is to lean in and get closer to your inner wisdom. Ask the body to share its secrets with you. This is the first step in getting your needs met more consistently. Late evening, Moon switches to Sarpa's domain, Ashlesha nakshatra. Deception and illusion are at play as the serpent energy and trickster, Sarpa, arrives in conjunction with a penumbral lunar eclipse. You create your own reality. Cut away the uncertainty and what do you have left? Friday, February 10th Moon in 15th tithi Purnima It's a full Moon day with an eclipse portal opening. Moon transits Cancer and Ashlesha nakshatra, the domain of Sarpa, the mystical serpent. A rare triple impact full Moon takes place on February 10th. This Cancer full Moon occurs with a penumbral lunar eclipse and a comet sighting shortly after, though barely visible from earth. Three cosmic events open the delicate two week eclipse portal. The full Moon occurs at 17:34 MST while Moon is at the edge of Cancer and Ashlesha nakshatra (using Mean node calculations). In the Vedic calendar, this is considered Magha Purnima, which is connected to Leo and the ancestors. The penumbral lunar eclipse begins to emerge at 15:34 MST, reaching its climax at 17:43 MST, and finding completion at 19:53 MST. This eclipse will cast its shadow on Europe, Much of Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, Antarctica. From a Vedic perspective, it is never advised to be outside during an eclipse, or to look at it directly. If you must be outside, make sure your head is covered. This also marks a delicate two week gap between lunar and solar eclipses. It is not advised to start new projects at this time, nor make big decisions. Best to lay low, attend to spiritual pursuits, get extra rest and work with your inner shadow very consciously. Read more about the Cancer full Moon Late evening, Moon crosses the tricky gandanta (gap) between water and fire, landing in Leo and Magha nakshatra. The ancestors are enlivened. Pay your respects. Saturday, February 11th Moon in 1st tithi Pratipad Moon transits the gandanta constellation Magha today, colliding with shadow node Rahu. Ketu gives his gaze and restructuring. The impact of the eclipse is in full effect. Ruling planet of Leo, Sun, is now at the edge of Capricorn. Sun will drop out of the tail of the Serpent in the coming week as he moves through Aquarius- provoking soul transformation. Today, make your ancestors a priority. What is emerging from your lineage as a reminder right now? Pay close attention to your personal mythology. Old shadows and illusions are emerging right now- especially what was handed to you by your ancestors. It's time to release and let go of these old patterns- for you and for them. Late evening, Moon arrives in Purvaphalguni nakshatra and Bhaga brings his comforts and resources- depending on your relationship with him. Put your creative powers to good use! It's time to upgrade your self and your life. Sunday, February 12th Moon in 2nd tithi Dvitiya Moon moves through Leo and Purvaphalguni nakshatra today. Bhaga supports resources, comforts, sexuality and sensuality. He enlivens the Shakti, life force quality of life with creativity. Your creative intelligence is your highest power. Understanding how to take your shadow and turn it into light is creative intelligence in action. People who don't have this skill, and lack the ability to transform challenges into resources, are unable to increase life force, vitality, abundance and nourishment. Are you stuck in perpetual cycles of lack? It's time for an upgrade! You'll need specific resources, support, guidance and tools to learn this skill of harnessing your creative power. This is a powerful process for creating lasting, life change, using your immense creative power. Late evening, Moon shifts to the latter half of the Phalguni constellation, Uttara. This is a Sun ruled constellation, which supports sustainable support from the ancestors. Sun has just shifted to Aquarius, which means that it is delicate and in weak degrees. Don't push, rest and listen closely to your soul's wisdom. Sun moves to Aquarius at 07:46 am MST today, joining the restructuring planet, Ketu here. This is a healing transit, if you choose to look closely at your challenges, setbacks and obstacles. Resistance to your darkness will provoke more challenges, so best to surrender and lean in. The soul and the ego are going through a transformation in the cycle to come, which lasts until March 14th. Read more about Sun in Aquarius Monday, February 13th Moon in 3rd tithi Tritiya Just as Monday begins, Moon shifts to Virgo, joining retrograde Jupiter here. Mercury and Venus give their direct gaze, while Saturn offers a stern stare from Sagittarius. Plant your seeds and visions, but make sure you back them up with clear action steps. Moon transits Uttaraphalguni the majority of the day. Sun and the ancestors require your focus and attention. Relationships and channeling your creative life force energy effectively, will appease the ancestral spirits. Don't lose sight of your goals, visions and highest purpose. Late evening, Moon shifts to Hasta. The light is dawning and Savitr arrives to support you. Face your shadows so the light can emerge. * All timing used is Mountain Standard Time. When your voice isn't heard, when your gifts are never shared, when your power is never fully activated....where does your soul's purpose go?

The August Full Moon is in the early hours of the 18th at 03:27 while moving through Aquarius and Dhanishta nakshatra. An almost lunar eclipse occurs at 03:42, sparking an unusual eclipse portal that will last until the end of September. Sun, Earth, and Moon will be very closely aligned on this day, but there will technically be no lunar eclipse. There are several different ways to calculate eclipses, so some sources are listing this event as a penumbral lunar eclipse, however it is not considered an actual eclipse. In any case, viewers on Earth will not be able to see the Earth's shadow on the Moon. This is an important time of awakening for you and for the planet. It is an opportunity to return to a more balanced and integrated relationship with power and purpose- the masculine. This cycle expresses immense creative potential, increasing bravery and courage as well as propreoception of self in relation to time and space. Power is activating and increases your ability to see yourself more fully. This newfound awareness supports dharmic wisdom and deep inner awakening. It's time to expand what you think is possible for yourself! The only way to expand your vision and awaken all possibilities for yourself is to break through subconscious and unconscious beliefs that are limiting your potential. The mind is active and will either support more creative expansion through the imaginal, or limit you with doubt, fear and lack of imagination. Sky is the limit! Will you allow yourself to put action behind your dreams? Or will you resist your potential? Change arrives with your effort and determination. Transformations will occur through the conscious support of increased knowledge and wisdom. Gather resources and support for this process. Stabilize in your heart and home so that increased creativity will be possible. Work directly with the masculine and any personal mythology and paradigms that sabotage your ability to shine and be seen. There is great healing available right now, but you must be willing to fearlessly face your shadows and ancestral wounding. This includes your grief- both personal and familial. Gather the necessary support, resources and guidance to activate and enliven your healing process. There is big, vibrant energy available right now and it will be moving through your hands and solar plexus. Channel this energy into creativity- whether it be music, art, dance, music, writing or any other activity that uses the gifts of the hands. This includes the healing arts. Dharma is a powerful resource for your creativity and your healing as well. Are you moving towards or away from your life purpose? Let the hands share with you and allow them to be a resource for self discovery and awakening. They have some powerful messages for you. With the arrival of this almost lunar eclipse during this full Moon, an unusual pattern occurs with shadow work that will continue until the Penumbral Lunar eclipse on September 16th. Normally an eclipse portal occurs in between solar and lunar eclipses, but this almost lunar eclipse adds an extra two weeks of shadow work to the process. During an eclipse cycle, your inner shadows are activated and provoked. Eclipses cover the light of the Sun or Moon, the masculine and feminine, and essentially your light sources. At this time, inner life becomes darker, more shadowed and of course more intensified. This is of course an opportunity to look at your shadows more directly and heal and transform them as a result. During this portion of the eclipse portal- until the New Moon September 1st- you will be forced to address your power and purpose more closely. It is an opportunity to work more directly with your masculine qualities and to notice where you are imbalanced and not in right relationship with your father source. This will provoke you to address issues with your father and any personal mythology you carry that is connected to your father as well. Your ability to shine, share and express in this life is directly connected to your relationship with your inner Sun. Start overcoming the hurdles and hindrances that are keeping you from your inner light source. Focus your efforts on transforming your shadows, illusions and haunts into awakening, awareness and wisdom. Remember that during an eclipse portal, it is not advised to start new ventures. This is an inward time in many regards. Cultivate your ideas and resources, but don't begin new projects during this time. Once the eclipse cycle has ended after September 16th, it will be a more favorable time to begin new offerings. Creative Ritual During this powerful cycle, the hands are primary body part resource for enlivening and awakening inner empowerment. Listen to the wisdom moving through your hands and harvest from their messages. This Creative Ritual will support your process of awakening and transformation. 1) Using craypas, paints or pencils, create an image of your hands. Create an image that expresses the feeling/sensations in your hands using colors, textures and shapes. Allow 20 minutes at minimum for this image. Title your image. 2) Use your image to inspire a movement exploration. Let your body move in response to your hand image- using the hands as a primary body part resource. Track the sensations in your hands as you move. Move your body in response to your hands. What sensations emerge for you during your dance? What awareness? Allow 5 to 10 minutes for this movement exploration. I encourage you to extend this time frame as you recycle this process. 3) Harvesting. In your journal answer these questions: I am, I want, I need, I sense, I feel, I imagine. What am I grasping? What am I releasing? What am I holding? What am I letting go of? What am I opening to? What am I closing to? * All timing is in Mountain Daylight Time. To determine the current nakshatra for your time zone, add or subtract time based on your distance to Mountain Time.

These are the Laws of Nature- the rulers of life and order. They require integrity and purpose, truth and righteousness. Ruling planet is Sun, now at the edge of Cancer. Shine as brightly as you can from your heart wisdom. Align and honor the light in your lungs. Be truthful to yourself and your path. Stay true to your purpose. Early evening, Moon moves to Capricorn. Jupiter, Sun and Saturn give their drishti, requesting more balance, stability and support for the emotional body. Clarify your needs for grounding. Jupiter moves into the one degree range today, providing more support from his knowledge and wisdom. More strength is coming. Mid morning, Moon moves to the sacred portal of Abhijit nakshatra, offering mystic and spiritual resources to be enlivened. This gap is open until 14:50. Find ways to honor the sacred. Pause and check. Resource from your spiritual body. As Moon shifts into Sravana, nakshatra, Vishnu is enlivened. He brings dharma through listening, hearing and akashic transmission. Listen closely today for resources that enliven your inner knowing. Step towards your dharma, your truth, your heart wisdom. Venus and Rahu are in exact conjunction today. Be careful with excess and extreme. Honor the feminine in a balanced way as much as possible. Be careful driving, with finances and relationships. Today, Sun shifts to its own sign, Leo, joining a full house of planets. Venus, Rahu and Mercury are still transiting this fire sign that exudes masculinity and power. Sun is our inner and outer light source. It brings strength, ego, empowerment and a connection to the father with it. Just as Sun moves into its favorite sign, Leo will be on the horizon. This cycle brings an intense relationship with masculine power to the forefront. Your father’s lineage will play a major role in this process in the coming month. What parts of your father are helping you step into your masculinity and power more fully? What parts of your relationship with him and your relationship with his power are effecting your ability for self express? Read more about Sun in Leo Wednesday, August 17th Moon in 15th tithi Purnima Moon moves to the final phase of its waxing cycle today, Purnima. Sravana and Vishnu's dharmic support continue until midday. Take action towards dharmic pursuits and ask for Vishnu's support with the process. As Moon shifts into Dhanishta, the Vasu Devas bring their bright and brilliant light and a desire to be seen and noticed. The Vasu's bring wealth and abundance on the material plane of existence. Announce yourself to the world, declare yourself. Let your self be seen for your gifts! Put action behind your dharma. Sing, make music and create today. Let your creative spirit play. Both Jupiter and Sun move past the one degree range today, bringing more strength and support with them- especially through the masculine. Thursday, August 18th Moon in 1st tithi Pratipad Just as Thursday arrives, Moon moves to Aquarius, joining Ketu and receiving gaze from multiple planets. Opposite Aquarius is Leo, currently full of energy with four planets transiting it. Sun, Rahu, Venus and Mercury all give their gaze to Moon, as does Mars from Scorpio. The Moon will be feeling the pressure and impact of all this energy. There is an awakening available in the coming days. How will you use the light as you are cracked open? Around noon, Moon shifts to Satabisha nakshatra and Varuna enlivens. As the guardian of Natural Law, he takes his job seriously. When you obey his desire for order, balance and honoring the wisdom of Nature's cycles and rhythms, then he will bless you with healing and good health. Stay balanced and harmonize with your inner wisdom today as a means of prevention. Full Moon is in the early hours of Thursday morning at 03:27 while moving through Aquarius and Dhanishta nakshatra. It is an opportunity to return to a more balanced and integrated relationship with power and purpose. Read more about the full Moon and eclipse portal Friday, August 19th Moon in 2nd tithi Dvitiya Moon continues through Satabisha until late morning, inviting you to honor the need for balance, integration and wholeness this morning. Ruling deity, Varuna, upholds Nature's wisdom and requests you do the same. He is a raja rastra, King of the Kings, and his purpose is to keep things in their natural order. When you go against his desires for order, you will feel the consequences- usually on the level of health. Stay true to your physical body needs today and honor its wisdom for balance. As Moon shifts into Purvabhadrapada, balance becomes more important. Ajaikapada rules this portion of the sky. He is a form of Nataraja, Lord of the Dance, or Shiva. He loves ritual, movement and provides strength as he is a Rudra. He also provides abundance. As one of Vishvakarma's son's, he preserved all the gold in the world. Stay balanced both spiritually and materially today. Honor both realms and integrate your human and spiritual needs. Mercury moves to its favorite sign today. There will be a moment of strength with mind and body. With Sun and Mercury feeling strong and stable, tasks can be accomplished more directly and progress can be made in a more empowered way. This stability lasts for under a week- before Venus arrives in Virgo. Venus is considered debilitated in Virgo, which will cause challenges and lack to rise to your conscious awareness. Read more about Mercury in Virgo Saturday, August 20th Moon in 3rd tithi Tritiya Early morning Moon enters Pisces, the final sign of the zodiac. Endings and release are activated. Mercury and Jupiter offer their gaze from Virgo. Knowledge and mental body come into focus. Expand your mind. Moon moves to the latter half of the Bhadra constellation, Uttarabhadrapada, late morning. As Moon moves into Ahirbudhinya's domain, serpent energy is enlivened. One of Vishvakarma's son's, Ahirbudhnya is also a Rudra, removing calamity and misfortune and can bring resources and nourishment. Dive deep today. Excavate beneath the surface of the mind into your subconscious territory. What are you releasing and letting go of as this new cycle arrives? Sunday, August 21st Moon in 4th tithi Chaturthi Mid morning, moon arrives in the final nakshatra of the zodiac, Revati. Pushan rules this domain of the sky and brings nourishment and support through resources- especially on journey's and travels through the material realms. As a remover of obstacles, Pushan sends you on your way feeling supported and nurtured with good luck on your side. Expect a lift today in the mental body today and use this wisdom to imagine a bigger, bolder life. Seek clarity and purpose and gather the resources to get what you need. Monday, August 22nd Moon in 5th tithi Panchami As Monday begins, Moon finishes its transit through Revati and Pisces. Mid morning, Moon leaps from water into fire, jump starting beginnings and openings. As Moon arrives in Aries and Ashwini nakshatra a fresh start awakens. Ashwini is ruled by Ketu, who cuts attachments and provokes release. Open yourself up to the new by letting go of the past. Allow yourself to step into a fresh start and say yes to a new cycle. What are you opening to? What are you closing to? As Moon wanes this week, the energy shifts inward. Reach inward and gather the wisdom of the past cycle so you can use it for the weeks to come. All timing is in Mountain Daylight Time. To determine the current nakshatra for your time zone, add or subtract time based on your distance to Mountain Time. Wondering how this coming year-long transit of Jupiter will impact you? Already feeling the effects? Get details, resources, guidance and support for the months to come. Book a session with me I just finished sharing my *free* Full Moon Eclipse Portal class. Truthfully, this is the first day I've gotten out of bed and my pajamas, in days. There's been a lot of grief moving through me and this is one of the ways I honor it. Over the past few days, parts of my shadow emerged for me to lean into and listen more closely. I've been tapping it through, moving with it, creating with it- allowing my emotional body to release and clear old, stagnant energy. Today, feels lighter and a rich clarity has arrived. A new passion and sense of commitment to life has emerged. This is the purpose of attending to your grief vigilantly. Grief and life are one and the same- dark and light. As I've written about extensively in my Eclipse Portal offerings, the previous new Moon in Aquarius + Solar Eclipse, is responsible for stirring the polarities within very acutely. If you haven't been feeling this inner conflict, noticing your challenges, leaning into your emotions, you probably aren't paying attention. Your critic may be really loud right now. Have you noticed? Clients, friends, students (and my own critic) have shared their resistance to moving towards their shadow. Do you fear that if you lean into your darkness, it may swallow you up? You may not find the other side? The truth is, resisting your pain can have disastrous effects on your healing process. It is impossible to release and change when you are resisting. Judgment can keep you blocked and in the dark. If you get nothing else out of this eclipse portal, lean in. Listen. Get silent. Ask your critic what it needs. Let its messages help you soften. Notice the voices within that keep you from moving closer to your pain. When you resist your inner pain, it amplifies. Healing comes when we can move closer to compassion for our own darkness. My Full Moon Eclipse Class will support you with this process of leaning in, listening, and moving through the grief that is present within you. This is a time of radical release. Please use it with intention. We won't get another time like this until September! As I mentioned in class, Those of you who are ready for accelerated growth through more consistent work with me, join my Maha Membership. I only have 5 spots still available! Here's to your continual growth and transformation- without stagnation! Swati* In This Class You Will....
- Release and transform through the emotional body. - Create space for the new. - Use ritual to find closure and opening. - Increase creativity, resiliency and thriving. We work directly with the shadow, grief and limiting beliefs, using ritual and transformational tools, to awaken and open to new possibilities- in order to more fully welcome the cycle to come. Bring your art supplies- including a drawing pad and craypas or paint. You may also wish to have a journal with you. I suggest being in a quiet space where you feel safe to move and create. The Thing Is The thing is.. to love life, to love it even when you have no stomach for it and everything you've held dear crumbles like burnt paper in your hand, your throat filled with the silt of it. When grief sits with you, its tropical heat thickening the air, heavy as water more fit for gills than lungs; when grief weights you like your own flesh only more of it, an obesity of grief, you think, How can a body withstand this? Then you hold life like a face between your palms, a plain face, no charming smile, no violet eyes, and you say, yes, I will take you I will love you again. ~ Ellen Bass Renewal, awakenings and beginnings arrive with the Vernal equinox on March 19th at 21:00 PDT. The length of light and darkness is almost equal on this day, which marks a turning point. For the northern hemisphere, days will be getting lighter (longer) as we move into spring and summer. This is the beginning of more light, more life. Shakti is stirring, inviting in more creativity in the coming days and months. This sense of opening moves us towards completion as the eclipse portal closes. Fertility and creativity are enlivened with this full Moon, as it coincides with the Vedic Holi festival, also known as "the festival of colors". Holika Dahan (the night before Holi when the fires are lit) is on the 22nd this year, followed by the Holi on the 23rd. This celebration in the Vedic calendar which roughly coincides with the vernal equinox and the arrival of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, sparks creative potential, increased love, beauty and creativity. It takes place with the Phalguni Purnima as the Phalguni stars are ripe with sensuality, love, beauty and abundant resources. No matter the hemisphere you are in, both spring and fall are considered "sandhi" times of year- or in between seasons. These are sacred times, when the veil is thin, sensitivity is heightened. In Ayurveda, we attend to necessary physical rituals that help the body cleanse and purify. Holi comes at this sacred junction and is a time to "plant seeds" so to speak. It is a celebration of fertility, abundance and the awakening of Shakti within Nature. It is the marking of the gap, which is ripe with potential and possibility. The full enlivening of Ma is celebrated during Vasant Navaratri- the nine days of Mother Divine, beginning on the 7th of April this year. Consider Holi the "kick off" celebration in many ways- a time to plant your desires and create your fruits for the coming year. Let this Full Moon enliven a sense of spring and possibility. Use this week's Creative Engagement activity (below) for your cultivation process. The full Moon is March 23rd at 05:00 PDT while Moon is in Virgo and Uttaraphalguni. This full Moon coincides with a penumbral lunar eclipse, closing the two week eclipse portal that has been invoking challenging shadow work for many. The eclipse begins at 02:39 PDT, with the maximum eclipse being at 04:47 PDT, and ending at 06:54 PDT. This eclipse will be visible through much of Asia, Australia, North America, Much of South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, Antarctica. Traditionally, it is not advised to look at an eclipse directly, or to be outside during the eclipse. Stay indoors, meditate, eat lightly or fast, set intentions and say prayers. Use this time as the sacred, inward time that it is. Being outside during the eclipse leaves you vulnerable to absorbing extra "shadow" which is not ideal. Since eclipses represent and intensify the inner shadow, taking precautionary measures to avoid gathering more shadow, is important. This full Moon marks the closing of the eclipse portal (the two week period between solar and lunar eclipses). It is now a better time to begin new projects, make decisions or start anything important. Full Moon in Uttaraphalguni supports increased creativity and nourishment in the cycle to come, but not without necessary change and transformation. The full Moon chart indicates nourishment through wisdom, the support of the ancestors and spirit for this process. Deepen your connection to your lineage and find ways to invite them into your life. Perhaps it's time to create an ancestor altar? Feed them good meals? Notice their constant messages? Pay attention to how they show up in your life. You must dig deeply, sifting through the rubble of your past, the shadow and illusion, in order to clarify your connection to Source, spirit and your ancestral team of support. There is a strong release process happening right now, intensified by the eclipse portal coming to a close. Your ability to release and create space for the new, the fertile, the life force, will determine how much living you do in the coming months. Right now, darkness and death, are dancing furiously with the light and creating your awakening. This tangled relationship calls for integration, harmonizing and more balance. The illusion of your separateness, your inner pain (and any addiction to this pain), is a result of not allowing your light and dark forces to co-create more consciously. This waning cycle calls for greater balance between your opposing forces. Previously, in the waxing cycle, you began to identify your separate parts. Binaries and polarities came to the surface for you to look at with more clarity. This caused discomfort, pain, struggle and most importantly, conflict. In fact, this is a necessary part of the change and transformation process. Now it's time to use what you've identified, as a resource for creating more integration within. As you continue to identify the challenges and what is not working, I encourage you to contemplate "what do I need moving forward in order for more comfort, support and nourishment?" What is the underlying need with this challenge or conflict? How can you ease the critic and forgive yourself for past choices and decisions as you move forward? As doors continue to close- both consciously and unconsciously- notice your response. Are you moving towards greater nourishment? Allowing in more wholeness? Or resisting the closure, the release and the necessary endings? Potential for increased growth and abundance arriving in this waning cycle, is solely determined by your ability to release. Gather the support you need for this process- on all four levels of your being- physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. The more help and support you in invite in, the deeper the nourishment you can absorb. Heal the separateness, the illusion of disconnection. Gather resources for deepening your inner connection. Let creativity be your ultimate resource for awakening. Awaken your imaginal as this can spark possibility. Allow desire to move you into action. In the waning cycle to come, Saturn will go retrograde until August, increasing stability and structure as well as grief and sadness. Mercury will move to Aries, starting a new cycle for the mind. Venus will enter its exaltation sign, increasing the flow of love and resources. The new Moon will arrive in Pisces with the beginning of Navaratri. Make space within your being for more connection to the Divine Mothers. Creative Ritual My Creative Rituals are intended to support your transformation and healing process in the cycle to come. Each ritual is in alignment with the cosmic tides- in order to help you adjust, shift and move more fluidly in balance with Nature's rhythms. Recycle this ritual more than once for added benefits. * Similar to exalted planets in that they are "full" and can't be "added to", a Full Moon (or Purnima) means that it is full to capacity, there's no more room for it to expand and grow; it is complete. In this way, we can interpret the Full Moon as a "New Moon" in that it marks the beginning of a new cycle of emptying itself and refilling itself (mirroring our internal process). Beginning a lunar month at the Purnima is called Suklanta and differs from starting the count from the New Moon (Amavasya) which is the point when the Moon is empty and is waiting to be filled by the Sun. Purnima is in the middle of the Lakshmi phase of the Moon cycle whereas Amavasya is the moment during the cycle where Kali and Durga meet. Clearly, the energy is quite different; mirrored in our internal experience as well. These different methods of starting the lunar calendar remind me of the saying "is your glass half empty or half full?!" When do we start our "New Moon" calendar and begin our new lunar month? When we are full and satisfied or when we are empty and needing to be nourished? It is with this question in mind that I came up with this week's Creative Engagement Activity. Read more about the importance of the Moon. Often for a New Moon or a Full Moon, I like to work with the image of a mandala. Mandalas help us to create and express fullness, to fill empty space, to work with what is. Mandalas are a container, filled, with our visions, creativity and desire- much like a metaphor for life. 1) With this idea of "creating within a container" as well as half the image of full/empty, I invite you to draw two large circle shapes on a piece of paper. Cover up one of the circles with a sheet of paper while you create within the other. 2) The theme for this first circle is "being filled". Fill in the first circle with what you desire for the cycle to come. What do you want to be filled with? 3) When you feel complete with the first circle, look at both circles on your paper. One is "full" and one is "empty". What thoughts come to you? What feelings? Then answer these statements under your first circle: I am, I want, I need 4) Then begin working on the second circle. The theme for this circle is "being emptied". What are you releasing and letting go of as you move into the cycle to come? 5) When you feel complete, write a few notes down about what you notice as you look at the entire piece. What thoughts come to you? What feelings? Then answer these statements under your first circle: I am, I want, I need 6) Finally, harvest your thoughts on this process. Circle ten words that leap out at you from the writing you've done. Form these words into a three to five line poem. (Adding extra words is ok). Share your poem below! * Extra credit for dancing (embodying) your images and poem at some point this week.
