Do you see your challenges as gifts?!
It's rare that challenging emotions are recognized as the gifts that they are.
In fact, working with your emotions, rather than against them, can have powerful effects on how you create your life. Life is created from, manifested from, the feeling level- not the thinking level. Simply put, if something feels good, you will want to create more of it and if it doesn't feel good, you will not want to create more of it in your life.
There are challenges to manifesting more of what you want obviously. But the key is actually through the wisdom of the emotional body landscape. By deepening your relationship with your feelings, you can start to navigate this terrain more consciously. The reality is that most people are neglecting, avoiding, resisting or refusing to address this powerful manifestation resource because it is not always a comfortable process.
Emotions are powerful resources of insight. Feelings are one of the biggest blessings of being a human. They always tell us what we need. Underneath every intense, painful or overwhelming emotion is a message- and a key to unlock our highest potential.
Anger for example is the messenger that something feels unfair to us, that we've been wronged in some way. Ultimately, this is telling us that we deserve better! That's a good thing. In fact, underneath anger is always passion- which gives rise to our power. Feeling wronged is actually a reminder that we aren't aligned with our power.
Therein lies the gift. Anger is an opportunity for us to see where we are not using our passion and our power properly. Where we are misaligned with our potency.
My favorite resource for emotional body release and quick transformation is EFT- the Emotional Freedom Technique. If you've worked with me in session or taken any of my classes, you've probably done tapping. It's powerful stuff.
When anger- or any emotion- is intense, I suggest doing a "tap and rant". This means you tap on the EFT points while venting. If you're unsure of the points, just use the heart center. Literally, tap on the center of your chest as you yell and scream! It works!
This Creative Ritual will also help you work directly with your challenges- emotion or otherwise. Take your challenge into your creative process and see what develops!
Movement Exploration. What emotion are you feeling? Is it anger, depression, frustration, chaos, uncertainty? Start dancing this emotion. What does it feel like in your body? Do the "dance of anger" for example. What emerges as you do your anger dance?! Remember to let sounds out! Move and develop your dance for at least minutes. When you feel a sense of closure, ask yourself these questions:
I sense, I feel, I imagine.
Create an image of your emotion. What does it feel like? Put it on paper using colors, textures and shapes. Create an image that expresses your experience with this emotion and whatever emerged in your dance. Spend at least 5 to 20 minutes creating this image. I suggest using paints or craypas and a large piece of paper. Title your image. In your journal or on the back of the drawing answer this question:
If your image could speak what would it say?
Harvesting. Answer these baseline statements and questions in your journal once you have completed the previous steps.
What am I opening to?
What am I closing to?
Recycle this process whenever strong emotions emerge. Remember they arrive to give you important messages. Listen carefully and honor them with deeper listening. What is the emotions telling you? What do you need for deeper nourishment in your life?
