New Moon arrives in sidereal Aries on April 15th at 19:58 MT. Sun has just shifted to exaltation in Aries and both Sun and Moon will be in Ashwini nakshatra at the time of the new Moon. The Vedic New Year begins on Friday April 13th at 20:19 MT as Sun arrives in Aries- though officially the start of the New Year comes with the New Moon on Sunday. As Sun and Moon begin anew, a fresh start arrives for the masculine and feminine within. Sun completes a year long transit through the zodiac and steps into Aries on Friday, jump starting the beginning of a new cycle. Sun loves being in Aries because he can fully express his power, light, clarity and purpose. He is exalted in this sign because he can use his power at 100% capacity. Expect more energy, strength and precision in the coming weeks. Use your power and clarity wisely and take life supporting action steps. Purify and clean up diet, behaviors and choices that are keeping you disempowered. Watch for anger and rage. What boundaries need to be clarified in order to honor your power more fully? This is a powerful time of year to step into your inner strength, purpose and dharma. Take action steps to fulfill your dharmic path. Honor your power and strength. Clear and release what is holding you back from your strength, power and purpose- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Ask for resources, support and guidance in order to maximize this time. Sidereal New Moon in Aries on Sunday April 15th jump starts the Vedic New Year, followed by the most auspicious day of the year Akshaya Tritiya on the 18th. On this day, Sun and Moon are both exalted, bringing energy, power and strength to all actions. This planetary alignment happens once per year. It is said that all actions will be fruitful on this day and expand exponentially. It is a powerful day to take dharmic steps and any action step you want a positive result from. Donate to charities, share, teach, connect and offer your services. Renewal, awakening, release and opening are arriving. Use this time wisely! Step into your power! Get new results and make more empowered choices! Awaken the light within. The new Moon is in Ashwini nakshatra, the domain of the Ashwini-Kumara twins. Ayurvedic experts, the Kumara twins support healing, transformation and awakening through the creative and healing arts. The symbol of this constellation is a horse's head, which expresses the strength and power possible within this portion of the sky. The influence of this nakshatra awakens the immense vitality and wisdom of the horse. Horses create an antivenom that heals snake bites, symbolizing their power to fight poison- especially physically. What poisons need to be healed and released within? What purification and clarity does your body need? What poisons are you ready to eradicate from your life? Clear the body of the past and make space for the new. Keep the gut clear and support the digestion of the mental body. In the cycle ahead, relationships, support and stability are the primary focus. Seek new balance and integration between self and other. Clean up relationship messes within and attend to the relationship with self. Where are you burning yourself out? Who and what are you allowing to burn up your life force energy? What behaviors, choices and actions are keeping you less than vital? Where do you need to reconnect within your body in order for more strength, support and stability within? The process of integration, alignment and gathering support will require that you retrace your steps and cover old ground. Relationships will ask you to revisit and recalibrate in order for you to gather the insights and wisdom you seek. Build a solid support system by getting clear on what you need and reaching out for the resources, guidance and team members you need. There are new answers arriving. Create space for the clarity and be specific about your desires. You will be asked to restructure your heart and find a new way of relating. Learn to love with boundaries and honor your sacred inner temple above all. Creative Ritual What does empowerment feel like? How do you feel this energy in your body? Use my Tapping Meditation below to support an increase in your power. Then use this awareness to create an image and identify your needs. Take this surge of energy and channel it into powerful action steps! Once you create your image of power, share it with us in the Embodied Moon FB group! Step #1 How do you know if you are disempowered, disconnected from your inner source? When your breath is short, body is tight and mind is running the show, you are likely disconnected from your inner wisdom and power. This may present itself through emotional body reactions, mental stories that seem to be on repeat in your head, and physical body responses that constrict you, leaving you closed off to possibility, options, new choices. Read More and Listen to my Tapping Meditation for Empowerment Step #2 Create an image of what it feels like to be empowered, connected and feeling your inner strength. What colors, textures and images arrive? Using craypas, paints or pencils, create an image of your power. Create an image that expresses this feeling using colors, textures and shapes. Allow 20 minutes at minimum for this nourishment image. Title your image. Step #3 Use your image to inspire a movement exploration. Let your body move in response to your image with the intention of "moving with your feelings". What feelings emerge for you during your dance? What awareness? Allow 5 to 10 minutes for this movement exploration. I encourage you to extend this time frame as you recycle this process. Step #4 Harvesting. In your journal answer these questions: I am, I want, I need, I sense, I feel, I imagine, I express Where do I feel support in my life? Where do I need more support? The March New Moon arrives on the 27th at 20:58 Mountain Time while Moon transits Pisces and the constellation UttaraBhadra. This is a particularly powerful new Moon as it marks the end of a year long cycle, and the opening of a brand new year ahead. In the Vedic Calendar, this new Moon ushers in the Vedic Lunar New Year as well. Traditionally charts are cast for the year ahead, predicting the flavor and meaning of the upcoming year-long cycle. This happens every year in the Vedic month of Chaitra. This new cycle is a Hemalamba year- markedly different than the previous Durkmukha year which was filled with challenge, calamity and obstacles. This new Hemalamba year will provide more strength, material resources and a drive to succeed in the relative plane of existence. It is a time to overcome setbacks with clarity, determination and empowerment. The ancestors, or Manes, rule this cycle, which requires that you honor your lineage and the desires of your familial line. What needs are surfacing? How can you honor your ancestors more fully? What dharmic tasks need to be honored? Pisces represents a closing door, and an opening door, as the the final sign of the zodiac. Here, endings and closure take place, while potential and the new prepare and activate. Correlating with the 12th house, Pisces also aligns with the ancestors, the portion of the chart that connects us to the spirit world and those who are not in a body. Uttarabhadrapada is ruled by Ahirbudhnya and symbolized by the back legs of a funeral cot. Endings are provoked and release is inevitable. The bridge between material and spirit worlds is being burned. Deep transformation of life and death is taking place. What are you releasing once and for all? What is dying in your self and your life? What seeds are you planting for new growth? Ahirbudhnya is the serpent of the underworld. As a Naga (a positive snake, as opposed to the Sarpas which often bring deception) there is great potential for deep, inner work and lasting inner wisdom to arrive. Nagas bring resources and Ahirbudhnya offers a wealth of inner knowledge to arrive- for those who are willing to dive deeply into unconscious and subconscious terrain. You must go beyond the surface to harvest these pearls of wisdom! The coming waxing cycle provides momentum, yet tension between forward movement and transformation. Desire and determination are strong, but the mental body will feel frustrated, stuck and overwhelmed in the process. Keep moving anyway. Your consistent action steps are vital for progress to be made. Don't get stuck in the "how" and the minutia of details. Find clear, doable action steps and keep going. Are you getting stuck in the overwhelm and inner drama- which sabotages your success? Healing can take place in this cycle with creativity and digestion. Your creative process is the key to your transformation and change. Staying stagnant, stuck and resistant to change is not conducive to life force, Shakti and new growth. Though we are still in a powerful uprooting process, you can ease this by surrendering to the release. Resisting will only intensify the pain, hardship and challenges that are surfacing. When a challenge arrives, confront it head on. It's vital that you stay alert, awake to what needs to be released, removed and let go of right now. Your ability to digest, transform and release consistently and fully, provides a powerful foundation for new seeds to take root and a deeper harvest to arrive in the coming days and months (and years!) ahead. Seek balance- inner and outer- as you move into the new, and as you let go of the old. Relationships are a big part of this journey of transformation so allow them to be your mirror for growth and change. Some healing is possible with self and with "other" through the cycles ahead. With willingness you can uproot resistance and challenges that have kept you stuck in lack and malnourishment. Get clear on your needs and make these declarations known. Speak clearly and with effectiveness. Your inner clarity will determine the clarity you feel within your relationships, and how you get your needs met on much deeper levels. What do you really need in order to feel safe, grounded, stable and supported? Communicate your deeper needs and vulnerabilities. Let others in and speak your truth. Just after the new Moon, the spring celebration of Navaratri arrives to invite in the deep transformation process taking place within and in the environment. This celebration of the Divine Mothers, ends with Ram Navami, the birth date of Lord Rama. Vasantik Navaratri begins on March 28th and concludes on April 5th for 2017. During the nine day and night Navaratri celebration, the battle between light and dark forces enlivens. This battle between light and dark, good and bad, masculine and feminine, transformation and healing, is taking place within all beings at this sacred junction point. It is a time to heal and integrate polarities within. The Navaratri celebration is an expression of what is taking place within Nature, through the Laws that govern Nature, marking an important transition within us and around us. These important junction points (know as a gap, or sandhi in Sanskrit) happen multiple times a year, however, the Shardiya, or Maha Navaratri, junction point is considered the most powerful. Spring Navaratri is called Vasantik and occurs in the first month of the Vedic Lunar Calendar, Chaitra. This is a death cycle for both Northern and Southern hemispheres. As life is being called into silence in the North, and called into action for the South. In either case, doors are opening and closing. Align with Nature and Her powerful energy of change and transformation during Navaratri. Ritualize your connections with Nature- in order to land more closely to your own inner wisdom, to Her wisdom. Strengthen your connection to self and Spirit. Read more about the power of Navaratri In the coming days, I'll be sharing a special video series about the dark goddess, Nirrti, and how to align more closely with your dharmic path and what happens when you don't!
