Just as the month begins, the June new Moon occurs on the 3rd at 4:02 am MT. Moon is transiting its favorite sign, Taurus, while navigating the powerfully creative star, Rohini. This portion of the sky is ruled by Lord Brahma, god of creation. Both Brahma and his wife Saraswati create an unstoppable force of manifestation. Less than 24 hours after the new Moon occurs, Venus shifts to its own sign, Taurus, inviting in new support and stability for all things Venus. The coming cycle is a powerful time to bring long standing ideas and dreams into manifest form. Taurus is great support for creating in tangible ways, while offering nourishment, financial support, and food for life force. Rohini nakshatra is a powerful portion of the sky dedicated to creativity on all levels- allowing dreams and desires to manifest. Ruler of this nakshatra, Lord Brahma, is the god of creation; he literally birthed the universe from his navel. Now is the time to bring forth your ideas, desires and creative impulses from the unseen, hidden realm. Awaken your deepest desires and allow them to take shape. If you've been putting off action steps, expansion of ideas and desires, now is the time to get serious. There is a lot of proactive energy in the transits right now that can be put to good use. Use your energy wisely and channel it creatively. Ask for more and step up to make it happen. Manifestation occurs when we activate and align with our dreams and desires, while also taking conscious, congruent and consistent action steps to support them. Use this coming waxing cycle to birth something new. Awaken your buried passions and ignite your purpose. Where have you been playing too small? What have you neglected to fully ask for? What steps are you resisting or refusing to take? Maximize your creative life force energy and awaken the power of your creative courage. Step into your power and potential. Restructure, release, transform and grow. Shed the old parts of you that doubt and play the victim. Uproot the stories and mental blockages that are keeping you poor and in survival. It's time to step up, expand your ability to receive the nourishment of life. Make sure that your actions and choices align with your desires. Seek congruency with your vision and your behaviors. Open the channels for more life force energy and say yes to life! Creative Ritual1) Using craypas, paints or pencils, create an image of your nourishment. What does nourishment feel like for you? Create an image that expresses this feeling using colors, textures and shapes. Allow 20 minutes at minimum for this nourishment image. Title your image. 2) Use your image to inspire a movement exploration. Let your body move in response to your nourishment image with an intention of "moving with your feelings of nourishment". What sensations emerge for you during your dance? What awareness? Allow 5 to 10 minutes for this movement exploration. I encourage you to extend this time frame as you recycle this process. 3) Harvesting. In your journal answer these questions: I am, I want, I need, I sense, I feel, I imagine. What deeply nourishes me? What no longer nourishes me? Where do I feel support in my life? Where do I need more support? What am I opening to? What am I closing to? The February New Moon arrives on the 4th at 14:04 MT, while transiting Capricorn and Shravana nakshatra, a constellation ruled by Lord Vishnu. Waning Moon and new Moon energy is slower, inward and dark. We may notice that in this part of the Moon cycle, our emotional body feels the darkness more acutely. This is the part of the monthly cycle when we should attend to our grief, release, and clearing away of excess. Amavasya, or the new Moon, sparks potential, possibility and creativity. What possibilities are alive within you? What darkness needs to be confronted? Four planets collide in Capricorn at the time of the New Moon- Moon, Sun, Mercury and Ketu. All are getting the restructuring impact of moksha planet Ketu. Mind, body, soul, and emotions are in a change process. Vulnerability is arriving simultaneously. Slow down and attend to the necessary actions and choices that can support this change. Vishnu is the god of dharma- that which sustains and maintains order in the universe. The constellation of Shravana is his domain, which allows the passing of knowledge and wisdom- usually through sound. In ancient Vedic times, dharma was passed through oral tradition until eventually it became written word. The new Moon and waxing cycle ahead supports the power and strength of your dharmic path. Are you aligning with your dharma through your choices and actions? Are you moving closer to your passions and purpose, or further away? Who will listen? I proclaim with uplifted arms, Practice of Dharma leads to Artha (material prosperity) Kama (pleasure of life) and Moksha (liberation from karma), Do not be deaf to my cries! - Vyasa at the conclusion of the Mahabharata In the days following the new Moon, Mars crosses the gandanta between Pisces and Aries, beginning a new cycle for Mars on February 5th. Those under the influence of Mars (ruling planet, current dasha cycle, transiting influential houses) will especially feel the impact of a fresh start and the beginning of a new two year cycle ahead. Mars rules Aries and does well with its tenacity and focus on action until March 22nd. Mercury will shift into Aquarius on February 6th, moving mind into more entrepreneurial and innovative ideas and projects. Think outside the box in the coming days and clarify your steps. We are at the edge of a major transit. Rahu and Ketu shift signs on March 7th, beginning a new 1.5 year transit for the karma nodes. Rahu moves to Gemini and Ketu moves to Sagittarius, where both will be exalted in the months ahead. Many are feeling the shift of the shadow nodes already. Karma is changing, forcing us to look at our shadows and liberation in new ways. I'll be sharing more about this transit in an upcoming article. For now, note that Rahu will be pulling you towards the themes of Gemini, whereas Ketu will be supporting release with all things Sagittarius, while in conjunction with Saturn. Look to the houses in your jyotish chart where Gemini and Sagittarius reside in order to identify insights and themes for this transformational cycle. These changes are already being felt. To get more insight for this new Moon and waxing cycle upon us, I pulled a card from my Vedic Tarot deck. The reminder comes from the suit of Arrows- which correlates to the element of air and the mental body. The Arrows depict powerful tales from the Mahabharata, an epic battle between two branches of one family. The Mahabharata reminds us that: "What is found here- is everywhere; What is not here- is found nowhere." - Veda Vyasa (around 1700 BCE) The Ace of Arrows begins the tale of Bheeshma, who is a strong thread throughout the Mahabharata. He possesses immense strength, courage and a heroic destiny. However, karma has a different outcome for him altogether. With the Ace of Arrows, immense power is available to us, but very few know how to manage it or use it fully. As a result, it gets misused, squandered, and can even destroy you. Spiritual growth is granted here, however, the changes and transformation involved can be traumatic and challenging. A reminder to gather your strength and courage, even in troubled and overwhelming times. Setbacks can be overcome, success and triumph achieved, however cutting away, releasing and being decisive in purging, will be required. Change will be inevitable as a certain phase of your life is officially concluding. This is the end of illusions and your old behaviors and immaturity will not be allowed moving forward. Be mindful that karma is being released in the cycle to come and it may be painful. Where are you resisting inevitable changes and losses? What needs to be released and let go of once and for all? What do you need to give up, to not allow in your life anymore? What intelligence do you need to call upon to move forward with more strength, courage and clarity? Creative RitualWhat would it look like to be the leader of your life? What needs to change? What feels in alignment already? PART #1 1) If I could do anything I wanted without the fear of failure what would it be? 2) What is stopping me right now from taking the first step? 3) How can I overcome what is stopping me? PART #2 Where do you want to be six months from now?! Step 1: Write down your vision. Journal it into your full awareness. Step 2: Create your vision. Draw, paint or collage your vision into form. Give it a title. Step 3: Harvest your vision. If your image could speak to you, what would it say?! Step 4: Make your vision a reality. What steps need to take place for your vision to become a reality six months from now?! What action step can you take today?! I help sensitive women become the leaders of their lives. This new Moon also coincides with the powerful day of light, Diwali, in the Vedic calendar. Diwali (or Deepavali) is a very significant five day festival in the Vedic tradition. The most significant day of the Diwali festivities is on the new Moon. This five day celebration honors light, Lakshmi, and the divine resources available to us. Lakshmi is the giver of health, vitality, nourishment and wealth. The festival of light spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. Three of the most important days are dedicated to Dhanvantari, Hanuman and of course the new moon being the most important of all, which is solely dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi. Read more about Diwali and why this festival of lights is so important. This Libra new Moon calls for integration, balance and harmony. Ruling planet of Libra, Venus, is currently retrograde in its own sign, Libra as well. Retrograde Venus is causing relationships to be re-evaluated, re-assessed and returned to. Re-looking at all things Venus is vital for more balance in relationships, finances, comforts, and overall nourishment. This is an important opportunity to tip the scales in a different direction and find a more harmonious way with opposing forces. What needs are not being met? Where do you need to find more balance with your boundaries? Do your relationships feel imbalanced? Read more about the extended transit of Venus in Libra. The coming cycle instigates the need for balance, harmony and integration in new, more provocative ways. With new Moon in Vishaka nakshatra, the waxing cycle promotes gathering increased support and resources in order to invite in more balance into your life. Vishaka expresses duality, as it is ruled by two gods- Indra and Agni. Both rely on each other for support, growth, strength and purpose. Indra is the king of the gods, yet Agni is the priest. Neither can thrive without the wisdom and resources of the other. This is a reminder that duality must find its common ground, its middle way. Neither polarity exists alone, each must unify and allow for coexisting. Both Libra and Vishaka are powerful reminders of what is required in harmonious relationship and the ease of conflict. Release the binaries and find the common ground. Activate the process of relating and connecting. Both sides must reach toward the other in order for connection, communication and co-creation. Vishaka is an important reminder that no one can survive without help, support and guidance from a team and a community. What conflicts are surfacing right now in yourself and in your relationships? How can you find more balance with your inner conflicts? What would balance and harmony feel like in your life and relationships? Where are you noticing the imbalances in your life? Can you find a gentler, more harmonious way? This is a powerful time of emptying, releasing and clean up- especially for health, relationships and finances. Seek to re-balance your needs and priorities. Clarify boundaries and expectations. Plug the leaks and strengthen your ability to receive the nourishment you need. Creative Ritual What does empowerment feel like? How do you feel this energy in your body? Use my Tapping Meditation below to support an increase in your power. Then use this awareness to create an image and identify your needs. Take this surge of energy and channel it into powerful action steps! Once you create your image of power, share it with us in the Embodied Moon FB group! Step #1 How do you know if you are disempowered, disconnected from your inner source? When your breath is short, body is tight and mind is running the show, you are likely disconnected from your inner wisdom and power. This may present itself through emotional body reactions, mental stories that seem to be on repeat in your head, and physical body responses that constrict you, leaving you closed off to possibility, options, new choices. Read More and Listen to my Tapping Meditation for Empowerment Step #2 Create an image of what it feels like to be empowered, connected and feeling your inner strength. What colors, textures and images arrive? Using craypas, paints or pencils, create an image of your power. Create an image that expresses this feeling using colors, textures and shapes. Allow 20 minutes at minimum for this nourishment image. Title your image. Step #3 Use your image to inspire a movement exploration. Let your body move in response to your image with the intention of "moving with your feelings". What feelings emerge for you during your dance? What awareness? Allow 5 to 10 minutes for this movement exploration. I encourage you to extend this time frame as you recycle this process. Step #4 Harvesting. This celebration of the ancestors awakens and supports our connection with Spirit, helping us align with our ancestors, their wisdom and gifts. As Pitru Paksha closes and the New Moon passes, the most powerful ten days of the Vedic year begins. Maha Navaratri starts on October 9th and closes on the 18th with Vijaya Dashami, the celebration of Durga's victory over the demon Mahishasura. This special nine days supports transformation, healing and release. Pay close attention to needs surfacing and be intentional with your healing process. Monday's new Moon arrives at 21:47 MT while in sidereal Virgo and Hasta Nakshatra. Virgo represents the sixth house of the zodiac, which has to do with conflict, healing and debts. It can also bring support, alliances and companionship through animals, as well as overcoming enemies. Virgo is precise, meticulous and often very critical. Ruled by Mercury, Virgo tends to stay in the mental body and needs reminders to sense and feel in a more embodied way. This new Moon will require us to focus on healing and awakening as Hasta nakshatra brings the dawning, the light. In the days ahead, stay out of the mind and get into the body. Speak, communicate and express. Find your words and let them awaken you and others. Hasta nakshatra is ruled by the deity Savitr, the god of dawn. The sliver of light that arrives on the eastern horizon just before sunrise is his domain. He offers hope and vision through his illumination. This portion of the dawn is particularly potent, magical and powerful. It navigates the liminal realms, the netherworlds- neither worldly nor entirely spiritual, but both. Savitr brings the light to us in this coming cycle so get ready to wake up! His bright light brings consciousness, evolution and enlightenment. This will require a willingness to see, notice and look- even if you don't want to. Notice the spectrum of your inner landscape- emotions, thoughts and unconscious grief- as this will support your healing and transformation process. Even if you don't want to see, it will be impossible not to look. When the darkness is touched by the light, we can't help but see it. Savitr brings light and awakening whether you want it or not. Hands come alive under Hasta nakshatra. Let them be a guide, a resource and a support for your healing process. There is some magic in the hands asking you to look more closely. What are your hands saying to you? What do they need? Use Gayatri Mantra to enliven the light and wisdom of Savitr in the coming days. Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ tát savitúr váreṇ(i)yaṃ bhárgo devásya dhīmahi dhíyo yó naḥ pracodáyāt Mercury moves out of its favorite sign, Virgo, as of October 6th, and into Libra- joining retrograde Venus and sandhi Jupiter here. Jupiter is on his way out, now at the edge of Libra and preparing to make his year long transit through Scorpio. The combination of Mercury, Venus and Jupiter will create a need for balance and harmony on the level of mind, body and emotions. All three are desperately seeking integration and stability- and yet it may feel impossible to find. Women's issues take front and center and will be demanding focus and attention. Women get a boon with this extra long cycle of Venus in its own sign. Watch out for extremes, binaries, contradictions and confusion. Reassess and reevaluate parts of yourself and your relationships that need more of your focus. Attend to comforts, needs and nourishment. Gather your parts and pieces and seek wholeness, the middle way. Find least force and increase life force energy. The waxing cycle ahead will ask you to look more closely at your darkness. As the light shines brighter, as the dawn arrives, your shadows will be more present. Are you willing to lean closer, or will you bypass and avoid? The increased light may feel challenging, uncomfortable and even fragile. Don't avoid your trauma, let it be the resource for your deep awakening. Remember that your trauma and shadow work directly correlates to your dharmic path; there is no separation. If you are willing to acknowledge your pain and lean closer to your disconnection, you have the possibility of healing through the medicine of wholeness. The cycle ahead supports deeper awakening and will require your willingness to see even more than you have before. Don't go back to sleep. The Vedic celebration of Maha Navaratri arrives just after the new Moon. On October 9th, the powerful battle of Ma Durga and the rakshasa (demon) Mahishasura begins, ending with victory day, Vijaya Dashami, on October 19th. Durga defeats the demon, a reminder to us all that Durga always wins. This is a powerful turning point in the Vedic Calendar when the Divine Feminine awakens, enlivens, transforms and heals. It is through the powerful dance of the Divine Feminine that the seasonal shifts take place. We are embarking on the magical transformation between seen and unseen, straddling the material and spiritual realms. This is a gap, a portal, that invites in depth, awakening, awareness and powerful inner wisdom. Stay alert and awake to inner and outer changes taking place. Notice conflicts within yourself and your environment. Seek resolution and healing. The Navaratri celebration is an expression of what is taking place within Nature, through the Laws that govern Nature, marking an important transition within us and around us. Align with Nature and Her powerful energy of change and transformation during Navaratri. Ritualize your connections with Nature- in order to land more closely to your own inner wisdom, to Her wisdom. Strengthen your connection to self and Spirit. Navaratri is a poignant time in the Vedic Calendar. This ancient calendar is one that is dedicated to Nature and her cycles and rhythms, the planets, and most importantly the Moon. In the Vedic Calendar, time is connected to what Nature and the cosmos are doing, and these elements are intimately related. Navaratri occurs multiple times each year- in the "gap" seasons of spring and fall, as well as other important junction points. These times are considered sandhi times; delicate times that feel like you are neither here, nor there. We might call it the netherworld. This time, though delicate, is considered sacred- so use it wisely. Read More About Navaratri the power of this sacred time of year. Creative Ritual As grief continues to rise to the surface, individually and collectively, it's an important time to do our grief work. Use this simple process to help you harvest a message from your grief and support its movement and release. 1) Take a few deep breaths and lean closer to your body sensations. Take your time and go slowly. 2) Notice the emotional body. What are you releasing right now? What losses have you faced in this past cycle? What grief is stirring within you? If you could find this grief living in your body, where would it be? Where do you feel this grief in your body? 3) Lean closer to this grief in your body. How does it feel? What colors, textures or images do you notice? Ask it to share with you. If your grief could talk, what would it say? If your grief could share a need with you, what would it say? 4) Create an image of your grief. How does this grief feel in your body? Create an image using paint, craypas, collage or any medium that inspires you. Spend at least 20 minutes with your grief image. When it feels complete, give it a title. 5) Harvest from your grief image. If it could speak to you, what would it say?
