How Prepared Are You For This?Just after the May full Moon, an unusual series of retrograde planets kicks off- sparking many months of re-balancing, clean up, intensification, and shadow work. Two of the most important planets, Saturn and Jupiter, have lengthy retrogrades starting this month- which will bring lasting changes and important insights for life and purpose. Because they are both slow moving, their impact is much more powerful. Saturn retrogrades for five months in Capricorn, starting on May 10th. He won't go direct until end of September. This is an important time to clean up grief, structure, support, systems, and your dharmic offerings- or career if you are not sharing your dharmic gifts. Saturn doesn't tolerate excess or messiness so clean up the disorder in your life and start simplifying! Jupiter is currently in Capricorn as well, beginning his retrograde motion on May 13th, returning to his own sign Sagittarius on June 29th. He continues to move in reverse until mid September. Whatever you missed these past months on your dharmic path, Jupiter will be requesting more of your awareness this time around. This Jupiter retrograde is a vital transit for your path and purpose, for spirituality, and cleaning up impurities in your life. You will need more support, focused guidance, and a very clear intention for this next phase. Don't make the mistake of staying stuck where you are and refusing to take effective action. This transit is asking you to take a different approach in order for very different results. This opportunity won't come again. Jupiter does not tolerate adharma, so notice where he is nudging you to align more fully with your dharmic path. Venus starts his return process on May 13th, continuing his transit through his own sign, Taurus. He will retrograde until June 25th, offering an unusually lengthy transit through one of his favorite signs. He won't enter Gemini until July 31st. All retrograde planets are asking us to pay closer attention and attend to parts of ourselves and our lives that are challenged or imbalanced. Venus will be asking you to focus on the material world- finances, nourishment, wealth, speaking, manifesting, bringing desires into form. Relationships, love, and sensuality will request attention as well. What needs to change in order for you to feel more nourished in your life? Later in June Mercury will retrograde as well. For a short time, four planets will be moving in reverse. Retrograde planets act like the shadow nodes Rahu and Ketu. That means they bring extremes, chaos, distortion, and intensification. Be mindful that things often have to intensify so we can see them more fully. Wherever we've been ignoring the truth, bypassing or avoiding reality, the intensification can help us re-focus and re-align with more clarity and insight. Notice where you are receiving a pinch in your life and take effective action. It's an important time to make necessary adjustments, and make new choices that support the outcome you desire. Rarely do we get such a powerful opportunity to clean up all areas of our life simultaneously. Thanks to Saturn, Jupiter, Venus and even Mercury, you will be asked to do many layers of clean up at the same time. Be vigilant! Never miss my Moon Wisdom, transit reports, or horoscopes! The June full Moon occurs on Monday the 17th at 2:30am MT while Moon is transiting Sagittarius and Mula nakshatra, a lunar constellation ruled by the dark goddess, Nirrti. Moon joins the sensitive and complicated planets in exact conjunction here as well- Ketu and Saturn. We also have four planets conjunct in Gemini looking directly at Sagittarius, causing an intense emotional dynamic that will make this full Moon feel like a release of immense emotional build up. Mercury, Mars, Rahu and Sun are asking for intensified clarity, courage and creativity right now. Don't drop the ball. This is a powerful full Moon and waning cycle for your dharmic path. Don't miss the messages arriving to support you, nor the opportunity to clear your path. If used properly, this cycle can be of great benefit to your dharma, your life path and purpose. For others, immense calamity and confusion may arrive. Try to stay on path and don't let the goddess of adharma pull you from your inner wisdom. When any planet transits this portion of the sky, they go through a powerful uprooting process. Mula nakshatra is considered one of three gandantas- junction points in the sky that cause immense psycho-emotional body uprooting. This powerful transformation process can clear away blockages and obstacles so the path is clear, or it can create such confusion, calamity and misfortune that the dharmic path becomes unclear, misdirected and completely disconnected. It takes great strength, courage and intention to stay on path with Mula nakshatra. Those born under this star often go through painful life challenges that keep them from fully utilizing their innate gifts. They may struggle with such self doubt as a result of misfortune that they can't clearly see their purpose or offering in this world. The ruling deity of Mula nakshatra is Nirrti. Married to adharma (that which goes against dharma), the dark goddess of calamity, chaos and misfortune, presents unusual challenges on the dharmic path that can lead souls astray. It is therefor vital that when Mula is influencing us we take stock of our actions, choices and behaviors with honesty and truthfulness. Because this constellation is notorious for creating a sense of overwhelm, simplicity and editing our choices is important. Less is more with this constellation. Through simplicity and consistency, a deeper spiritual awareness is possible. Nirrti can clear the path of rubble and debris so that we can focus our attention and intention on what truly matters. However the diligence required takes great skillfulness and strength. Use the waning cycle ahead to clarify your path, purpose and offering. Where are you getting stuck in overwhelm, overdoing and fear? How is this impacting your results and behaviors? It's time to get truly honest about your focus, direction and desires. Are you making progress or spinning your wheels? Are you truly aligning with your highest potential, or settling for less than you deserve? Have you truly done all that you can to make sure your dharma is awakened, or is your self doubt keeping you stuck in painful choices and behaviors? The June full Moon is powerful opportunity to awaken your dharmic path and clarify your life purpose- however it will take your diligence and focused action steps. If you feel yourself getting off path or you realize that you are not aligned with your true purpose, it's time to make some adjustments. Make the necessary changes that puts your dharma first and allow your big dreams to be your top priority. Ask for the help you need and expand your vision. Step up and align with what truly matters to you. Your soul is asking for more. Are you ready to finally listen? Be very conscious in this cycle of what is moving your closer to dharmic alignment and what is moving you further away from it. Sun has now shifted to Gemini, joining Mars, Mercury and Rahu here as well. He transits the air sign of communication and creativity until mid July. This transit illuminates communication- physically and mentally- supporting a deeper understanding of your body and its self expression. Challenges may occur with self expression and creativity as well. Blockages are resistance in disguise so be willing to address your shadows and illusions. Watch for self doubt and uncertainty as Sun collides with Rahu. Break through the old stories, patterns and behaviors that are keeping you stuck, playing small and stuck. It's time to expand your creativity and self expression. Use a multi-modal approach through dance, writing, painting and music. Summer Solstice (Northern Hemisphere) occurs on Friday, June 21st at 09:54 am MDT. In the Northern Hemisphere, this is the longest day of the year in terms of daylight. In the Southern Hemisphere, on the other hand, it is the shortest day of the year and is known as the Winter Solstice. Solstice comes from the Latin words sol, meaning Sun and sistere, meaning to come to a stop or stand still. On the day of the June Solstice, the Sun reaches its northernmost position, as seen from the Earth. At that moment, its zenith does not move north or south as during most other days of the year, but it stands still at the Tropic of Cancer. It then reverses its direction and starts moving south again. The opposite happens during the December Solstice. Then, the Sun reaches its southernmost position in the sky - Tropic of Capricorn - stands still, and then reverses its direction towards the north. This is a potent time to take stock of your life, your actions and choices. Think of it like a tipping point. What direction are you moving in? Are you actively moving towards your desires and life purpose? What shifts and changes need to take place in order to align with your inner light, your souls offering in this life time? Creative RitualClarifying Your Dharma. Turning Dreams into Reality. Use this Creative Ritual, to deepen and cultivate more presence with your dharma. Allow your dharmic vision to come alive! 1) Creating Your Dharmic Vision. Get out your drawing pad and craypas. Create an image of your dharma, fully realized and activated. Maybe this feels impossible, but try anyway. If you feel stuck, pick a color and just start running it across your paper. Notice carefully what begins to emerge within you. What colors, images, textures and shapes express your dharma? Let that gentle sensation that arrived from reading your passion list carry you through this activity. Keep returning to the list, adding to it if you need to, and creating an image that expresses the feelings you receive from looking at your passion list. Get into this and let yourself play, fully arriving into the reality of joy and passion. Let this image serve as your reminder, your dharmic map. Hang it up on your wall and let it inspire your action steps. Be sure to title your image. Once your image is complete, let it answer this question: If your image could speak to you, what would it say? Take 20-30 minutes for this unless you feel like extra time would serve you. 2) Activating Your Dharma. The next step requires the physical integration of this joy and passion. Moving it from the imaginal realms, and letting it become a recognized, physical sensation in the body. Set a timer for 20 minutes. Look at your image and let a certain part of your drawing attract your attention. Let a color, shape, or image draw you in. This is your starting point. Begin to move this part of your drawing with your body. Let your body move in response to the image. Develop your dance using the intention of increasing awareness, activation of your desires, and the sensation of joy and passion. This is both an activation of your desires, as well as an exploration of your body's messages and sensations. Invite in the information. Remember, you are activating your dharmic map! Let this be your intention. As your timer rings, hold the shape of your body, as though you are a statue. Let a word or phrase come to you that describes your statue. Declare this! Take at least 20 minutes for your dance. 3) Harvesting and Planting Seeds. Once you have completed your image and your movement exploration, it's time for some harvesting and further activation. Answer these baseline statements in your journal separately: I am, I want, I need, I sense, I feel, I imagine. Circle one of these baseline statements that speaks to you most loudly. Create an action step for yourself that will help you honor and activate this sensation. How does this aligns with your passion list? If your statement is "I feel joy", then affirm that you will take an action step that creates more joy for yourself, perhaps doing something on your passion list for example. Clearly identify an action step and then make a doable goal with it. Such as "I will work in my garden once a week which makes me feel joyful." Write your goal down on a piece of paper. Now, look at your image, recall your dance exploration, and read your baseline statements once again. How does your action step and goal align with the dharmic vision you have created? Remember you can recycle this process again and again, finding different options for yourself (which I encourage you to do). Keep exploring and taking these action steps. Let your passions be your focus and set an intention for at minimum, once a week (daily is best), working directly with these sensations you've uncovered in this process. Let them motivate you. Remember, these sensations are like seeds. Tend to them gently, honor and nourish them. You are well on your way to creating your dharma. Step by step! Share your harvest with us in the Embodied Dharma Tribe! Clarify Your Dharmic Path

It's a powerful word that expresses the journey of the soul moving closer to enlightenment. This is a process of growth, transformation, healing, discovery, awakening and deeper self trust. It is a journey of discovering truth- within your self and your body. The path of Dharma is unique for everyone. No one has the same path, just as no one has the same thumb print. Growing in dharma requires that you honor your gifts, purpose, passions and the special soul offering that you came to this world to share. Yes, the power of your dharma has the ability to move you closer to enlightenment, but it also requires your willingness, courage and desire; sadly, not everyone has this. Everyone has special dharmic gifts they are here to awaken and share, yet not everyone will do what is required to share them in this world and grow as a result. Some individuals also have the ability to share their dharmic gifts through a dharmic business, making money in the process. The ability to thrive on a worldly and material level through dharma is not for everyone, however, for those that have the karma to support this, there is an opportunity for nourishment from all sides. Sharing your dharmic gifts in this world has the ability to deepen your sense of nourishment, vitality, insight, wisdom and power. Dharma is an offering to the world from your soul. This offering inspires others, and in turn, inspires you. The feeling of being aligned with dharma is deeply nourishing. Dharma implies a reciprocity between you and the world. What feeds you, feeds others, which feeds your soul even more. Dharma is not a career. In fact, these are two vastly different paths with entirely different purposes. Career is seen from the tenth house of the jyotish chart, while Dharma is seen from the ninth house. Dharma has spiritual implications and supports the awakening of the soul. Career is likely more about making money and doing what is necessary to survive in this world. A select few are able to do both. Some of us are actually able to use our Dharmic gifts, our soul purpose, as a means to make money, be visible in this world, and help others do the same. (These special souls are the clients I work with). Everyone has a dharmic path, a unique journey that supports their awakening, healing and transformation, yet very few people even know this is possible. Very few people even know they have a dharmic path, let alone how to awaken it. Why is that? Thousands and thousands of years ago, there was a time period in the Vedic Calendar known as Sat Yuga, the time of purity. Dharma was the norm and everyone was guaranteed a clear dharmic path, support for their journey, and resources to help them stay on path. All parts of society were aligned with dharma, which helped dharma to stay intact for individuals and families for centuries. Fast forward to Kali Yuga, a 432,000 year time period of adharma, when finding dharma is close to impossible. This is the time we are currently living in, according to the Vedic Calendar. Very few people will be born with the desire to awaken their dharmic gifts, and even fewer will know what dharma is. It is a time period known to cause suffering, struggle and a loss of connection with one's purpose. Becoming enlightened, awakening from the slumber of adharma, is very rare. This disconnection with the purpose of the soul is the root cause of the immense suffering of our time. Without purpose, without a connection to your soul's mission, life loses meaning and deep sadness, hopelessness and pain is inevitable. Those who are born desiring dharma are actually quite special. We are the torch carriers. The unique individuals alive to keep the flame of dharma alive during this time of darkness. We are insuring that dharma is not completely lost. This is one of the main reasons I am so immensely passionate about what I do and why I am committed to my own dharmic path. As the Embodied Dharma Coach, I support my sensitive, gifted clients in staying aligned, connected and committed to their souls mission- even when it feels extremely challenging and uncertain. I believe this is needed now more than ever. What Happens When We Lose Our Dharmic Path? There are so many reasons why losing Dharma is painful. Remember, dharma implies you are connected to your inner light, wisdom and truth. Dharma is alignment with your unique insight, your special gifts, the power of your soul. When you disconnect from the truth of your own soul, it causes immense suffering. This is in fact, the root of all suffering in our society. Without purpose, there is no direction, no hope, no focus for humanity. When you lose hope, darkness increases, you give up, life feels meaningless. Self trust is a requirement for awakening your gifts and sharing your wisdom in this world. Without it, you will not trust your path or your purpose. Self doubt and the inner critic are two ways that your dharmic gifts get blocked, sabotaged or even destroyed. Lack of clarity, direction or focus are all clear indications that you are stuck in self doubt and your critic is keeping you from moving forward. If you have self doubt or a strong inner critic, you might notice these stories showing up: My gifts aren't special enough. I don't know what I'm doing yet. Other people do this better. I don't even know what my gifts are. I doubt that I have anything special to offer. I need more training or education before I will be good enough. Without self trust, you will never feel safe enough to share your gifts in this world. Self doubt is the biggest obstacle to awakening your gifts and will keep you stuck in patterns, behaviors and choices that lead to adharma. There are only two reasons why people avoid, neglect, destroy or abandon their dharmic path. Fear and lack of guidance keep the dharmic path at a distance, further and further out of reach. When you let the fear win, and you don't seek resources, support and guidance for awakening your dharmic path, it will never actualize. In this time of Kali Yuga, working consciously with the fear, doubt and uncertainty is vital for honing the dharmic path. One of the best ways to do this is having specific dharmic support from a vast support team- mentors, guides, teachers, healers, therapists, and coaches. Without ongoing, crucial reminders and guidance for your path, the flame will be lost and the necessary support will not be present to keep you going- especially when challenges show up. Dharma take immense courage and desire. You must be willing to face your fears, your shadows, doubts and resistance in order to keep walking your path. This is one of the reasons I see people give up, turn their backs, and resist the messages and wisdom that are coming from within them. Resisting, avoiding and negating your inner wisdom has dire consequences. Most people have been resisting their inner wisdom, special gifts and unique souls purpose all their lives. The body has been whispering for years, but they don't hear it. They don't even have the right tools to listen. The body is very wise and it is constantly trying to help you align with your inner truth and wisdom. When you don't listen to the whispers, it starts to speak louder. If you continue to neglect its messages, it will start to yell. It will yell as loud as it needs to in order for you to pay attention. By the time the body is yelling at you, there is already so much pain, suffering and challenge present, that you will be forced to make changes and listen to your body. When a sensitive woman resists her dharmic gifts, there are dire consequences for her- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Often your body has been trying to tell you for years that you need to align with your gifts and purpose, but most women don't have the tools necessary to hear what their body is saying. When you resist your inner wisdom, your truth, the body will start by whispering, then speaking louder, and finally shouting, until it gets your attention. Physically, you may have health challenges- as parts of your body start shouting louder and louder at you. The body part or body challenge you have is specific to the dharmic need arriving. Pay attention to the messages showing up and ask your body to share its wisdom with you. There are clues about your dharmic path in the body challenge arriving. The body is very wise and wants you to thrive! Emotionally, you may feel depressed, frustrated, lonely, isolated, malnourished, lack joy and even feel hopeless- all because you aren't using your precious gifts. Often undigested grief, loss and trauma is at the root of your emotional disconnection. Without honor the losses and trauma of your past, you will never be able to fully connect with your dharmic path. You must make space for the new nourishment. Mentally, you may feel drained, overwhelmed, burned out, scattered, stressed and lack enthusiasm for your life. These are clear signs you are not living your passion and purpose. I have seen women consistently create adharma by unconsciously making choices that keep them unclear, stuck and unfocused. Putting energy into the wrong things at the wrong time is a recipe for adharma. Self sabotage (fear) will keep you from your dharmic path for lifetimes. I often see woman having a spiritual crisis when they are not aligned with their dharmic path. Painful losses, the death of a loved one, traumatic experiences and sudden changes can disrupt your trust in yourself and Spirit. When you experience extreme challenges, it can have dire consequences for your dharmic path. When life loses all meaning because there is such a void and disconnect from Spirit, this is a clear indication of adharma. The challenges arriving on your path, however, are important for strengthening the path, your purpose and your self trust. Without support, guidance and wisdom, you will continue to mistrust your self and the messages that Spirit is sharing with you. Being disconnected from your dharmic path as a sensitive woman is problematic on so many different levels, and it is also very costly. Without dharma, you will spend years trying to fix parts of yourself- without fully understanding the real underlying issues. You will never ever really get to the root of your problems. Your sadness is not just sadness. Your disappointment is not just disappointment. Your loneliness is not just loneliness. These are all symptoms of your disconnection- from your body wisdom, your gifts and your powerful soul purpose. The cost of being disconnected from your dharmic path is immense! Think about all the years you've been lost, unclear, unfocused, uncertain about your path and purpose. How much is this costing you? Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually- and financially? This is Why Dharma is Not For Everyone Even though everyone has a unique dharmic path and special gifts their soul is on earth to share, this does not mean everyone will choose to use their gifts. The saddest thing I encounter as a Dharma Coach is watching people turn their backs on their own inner wisdom, neglect their gifts, refuse to make the necessary life changes that their Dharma is asking them to make, or resist the necessary guidance and support for dharma to blossom. When someone refuses to face their own fear and shadow, dharma can not fully awaken. The first requirement for aligning with your dharmic path is- a willingness to face your fear. This weeds people out almost immediately. Rather than moving closer to their fears, doubts and uncertainties, most people resist them. They shut the door. They turn around. They don't even look. This is the number one reason I see women fail to awaken their gifts. They let their fears stop them. Dharma requires that you are willing to face your fear. Again and again and again. It takes courage, determination and honesty. It takes a strong desire to live your purpose- to keep showing up for your passions and gifts. The second reason people never share their dharmic gifts is they try to do it alone. They don't ask for the right resources, guidance or support. Most people who fail are resisting the necessary guidance required for deepening self trust, honing their gifts and sharing their offering. This is the recipe for staying stuck- for the rest of your life. The truth is, we can never, ever succeed alone. We must have the right resources, guidance and support in order to stay focused, connected and aligned with our dharmic path, our life purpose. The dharmic path is a process, an unfolding, a deepening of your self trust, inner wisdom and unique gifts. Everyone has a unique dharma, but not everyone will do what it takes to make it happen. Everyone says they want dharma, but sadly not everyone is willing to do what it takes to make it happen. How to tell if you are ready to live your dharmic path and share your gifts in this world...
When your voice isn't heard, when your gifts are never shared, when your power is never fully activated....what happens to your soul? What happens when your dharmic gifts are never offered to this world? When it is never fully awakened within you? When you refuse to change, heal and transform, so that you can rise and shine and fully awaken? When you never even step onto your dharmic path?! This is called Adharma (that which is against dharma). It is the root cause of all suffering in this world. It is pain that is self-induced. Don't neglect your path. Don't avoid your inner wisdom. Don't negate your power, purpose and passion. The world needs you now more than ever. Remember, when you have the courage to shine brighter, share your gifts, and align with your dharmic path, it benefits others. This is how we change the planet- by all of us awakening our souls purpose and reminding others to do the same. Just days before the new Moon, Sun shifts into his month long transit through Sagittarius. The December new Moon brings a collision of Moon, Saturn and Sun- all in Sagittarius and Mula nakshatra. The process of uprooting will be happening on multiple levels- including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Radical release is taking place and will require as much grounding as possible in order to navigate the chaos and change process. Stay close to the body. The new Moon occurs on December 17th just before midnight Mountain time. At 23:31 MT, Moon is completely empty and Sun, Moon and Saturn conjoin in the domain of the dark goddess, Nirrti. The constellation of Mula is synonymous with change and transformation. Uprooting on the psycho-emotional level will take place as Moon, Sun and Saturn shift through this notorious gandanta (gap). Ruling deity of this portion of the sky is Nirrti, who brings calamity, misfortune and chaos in her wake. As a result of these challenges, deep healing, insights and wisdom can occur. But without diligence, the chaos and adharma (that which goes against dharma) can also keep one from finding their way back to the path. This is an extremely fragile cycle. Do not take unnecessary risks in the coming days. This coming cycle destroys and uproots the parts of you that are disempowered. Seek truth, purpose and dharma above all. These are the sources of light that will help shine the light on your path. Seek your light source and tirelessly move closer to your shadow, the parts of you refusing to awaken. Crack open your ego. fearlessly lean into your inner masculine, and look closely at your fear. Why are you resisting your vulnerability, your heart and emotions? This is a time of immense healing, but it requires strength, willingness and courage to make strides. Pull the weeds from your garden. What is choking the life out of you? What is clogging your channels of nourishment and life force? What is keeping you playing small and pretending to be insignificant? Your power is immense. Read more: Six Ways to Feed the Ancestors Creative Ritual The gut, or solar plexus, is the seat of power and connects us to the masculine, power and by default the fifth house of the jyotish chart, as well as the sign of Leo. The metaphors for gut have to do with digestion and assimilation as well as elimination. What are you digesting and assimilating? How effectively do you eliminate and release what you no longer need, what is no longer nourishing you? We use this process of digestion in our lives on multiple levels; with our assimilation of environment, our internal/external landscapes, with words, ideas and life's experiences. The gut is connected to intuition, our "gut responses". Stomach problems are associated with "the inability to process and assimilate impressions received from our outer environment. Our ability to eliminate, or how we eliminate, is connected with the abdomen. In Eastern traditions, the belly is considered the center of the body, and the place form which a state of balance emanates. The abdomen acts as a transit area between the upper and lower areas of our body." -The Expressive Body in Life, Art and Therapy by Daria Halprin. 1) Use movements such as "cat and cow" and gentle spinal twists to activate the gut. Notice if your breaths are going all the way to the base of the stomach, or stopping short. Lie on your back and place your hands on your belly. Feel the gentle undulations of its rise and fall with each breath. Gently knead your gut with your fingers. Notice any sore spots or lumps? Move around the navel in a circular pattern. Stop and let your body relax and respond to the touch of your hands on your belly. Move and connect with your stomach for 10-20 min. 2) As you complete your movement exploration, pause and check. What do you notice in your belly? What sensations and feelings arrive? Notice if any images, colors or shapes are present within. If your belly could share a message with you, what would it say? 3) Come to your drawing pad. Draw an image your belly. What feelings and images were invoked during your body part exploration? Let your image express these feelings and sensations. Spend 10-20 minutes on your image. Give your image a title then answer these questions: If your image could speak to you, what would it say? What am I releasing? What am feeding myself with? I am on a mission to help sensitive souls connect with their inner truth and inner wisdom. To connect with purpose and dharma. Join the Class List: http://www.swatijrjyotish.com/contact.html One of the biggest questions I hear from my clients is: How do I connect with the ancestors? This is especially valuable during times of grief and loss, but the ancestors are also vital for the dharmic path. Most people are unaware of the support that Spirit and the ancestors can offer during life challenges and for life path clarity. We often forget that the well ancestors are here to help us and guide us. When a loved one transitions to Spirit, they are available to support us in ways that were not possible when they were in human form. So often though, we attach our human experiences to our relationships with our ancestors. Because of resentments, challenges, the hard parts of that relationship dynamic, we may resist connecting with this person even when they move to the Spirit world. It's an important part of the grief journey in fact- to identify and honor the human feelings, while also making space for something new to arrive. In this process of releasing undigested emotions, a new possible relationship can form with Spirit. Resisting and avoiding these undigested emotions that are an inevitable part of the relationship, will keep you from being able to connect with the ancestors. This is the main reason why so many people do not feel connected to their ancestors at all. The resistance or avoidance to the grief, challenging emotions, painful memories, wounds and lineage traumas, can result in a severing and avoidance of the ancestral connection. This is a powerful reason to attend to your grief diligently and to use it as a resource for healing. When we honor our emotional body- all of it- we also honor our humanity. Clearing, releasing and attending to the feelings, emotions and grief that come with the territory of relationships, also helps create space for the new. If the body is clogged with undigested grief and emotions, then there will literally be no space for something else to arrive. Releasing the grief allows new life to flow, as well as greater resiliency to arrive. Clearing grief from the bodies, allows space for Spirit to arrive, and also supports the possibility of building a relationship with the ancestors. When we lose the connection with our ancestors, we also lose the thread of dharma, legacy and the powerful resources that create the fabric of the family line. Remember that the human relationship with your ancestors is not the whole story. We must attend to the human parts, while also holding space for Spirit. Once a loved one merges with Spirit, they can become an ally, a support- in ways that weren't possible when they were in human form. There is in fact an opportunity to create a new relationship with them after they drop the confines of the body container. Connecting with the ancestors allows us to build a new relationship with those in Spirit- even if we had a challenging relationship with them while they were a human, or even if we had no connection with them at all. Your willingness to be honest with your feelings, grief, emotions and personal mythology, is a gateway to clearing, healing and releasing the wounds, trauma and challenges that are hidden in your lineage. The ancestors are not living and therefor can not change, transform or evolve- not without your help. You are the thread that helps them move forward. You are the living being that can help the lineage change, transform and grow. Your healing journey and dharmic path are crucial to the transformation of your ancestors and family line. If you choose to not do your dharmic work, to resist your life purpose and the healing necessary for that to take form, it will seriously impact the lineage and the growth of the ancestors. Dharma is the most powerful way to honor the ancestors. From a Vedic perspective, there is nothing higher than dharma. In fact, that is the only reason you incarnated into a human body. Yet most people who arrive in a human body never fully align with their life path or life purpose in their life time. Sadly, the obstacles, fears, illusions and obstructions to the path keep most people from fully embracing their dharma. Unfortunately this resistance to dharma negatively impacts the ancestors as well. Adharma, that which is against dharma, perpetuates ignorance and suffering. The healing, growth and vitality of the family lineage decays when dharma is lost. Generations of undigested emotions, unprocessed grief and trauma, has resulted in the loss of dharma globally. These days it is very challenging to align with ones dharma. My definition of dharma is one that requires reciprocity. By awakening and sharing your gifts, wisdom and purpose with the world, you are healing yourself, your lineage and others in the process. This requires great diligence and self reflection. It is not a path that everyone chooses to take, or even realizes is available to them. The connection to the ancestors is also weakened when adharma sets in. As is the path of healing necessary to awaken one's gifts, purpose and the wisdom within one's lineage. Remember that it is also the time of Kali Yuga in the Vedic Calendar. This is a time of great decay and chaos. Dharma is almost non-existent. Finding one's path is a miraculous feat. However, it is said, that if and when you are able to align with your dharma, you will have an easier time becoming fully awakened and enlightened. Dharma and awakening go hand in hand. Building a relationship with the ancestors is vital for healing and transformation. A relationship with the ancestors is also extremely important for strengthening one's dharmic path. The ancestors are here, ready for you to ask them for support, resources and guidance. They truly want a relationship with you. The ancestors can come in many forms, through multiple experiences, and arrive in a variety of ways. Sometimes you will feel their presence, other times they will arrive through imagery. Often my mother and father send message to me through owl and hawk medicine. You will come to realize their messages the more you invite it into your life. Remember that Nature might also share ancestral wisdom with you. A message from the ancestors could arrive through the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual bodies. Listen carefully. There are well ancestors and unwell ancestors. Guides and helping spirits. Animal guides and Nature spirits. The ancestral pool of all ancestors, as well as your personal lineage. There are helpful ancestors and mischievous ones. We want to be clear about what ancestors we are choosing to connect with. It is also important to let them know what is acceptable to you and what is not. I remember one of my teachers sharing a powerful reminder about setting boundaries and intentions with the ancestors. Dagara elder, Sobonfu Some, said that she would often yell and curse at her ancestors, then starve them for days if she was angry at them. Don't forget that you are in charge of the relationship! Let them know how you feel- whether it's anger, rage, sadness, grief, joy or gratitude. Your emotions are like food to them. They eat it, compost it, return it to pure energy. Your job is to acknowledge it and release it. Keep your emotional body moving, flowing and dancing like a river. Building a relationship with the ancestors is like any other relationship. It requires diligence, consistency, presence, and willingness. In order to strengthen the connection to your ancestors, you must be willing to feed them regularly. I suggest feeding them daily and creating rituals to support this process. Here are six ways to feed your ancestors and strengthen the connection you have with them: 1) Create an altar or shrine dedicated to the ancestors. Create this altar facing east if possible (so you are facing east when you look at it). East is the direction of the dawn and the intention is to bring light to your self and your lineage. Gather items that remind you of your ancestors to place on the shrine. Statues, photos, mementos, offerings from Nature, etc. Place something living on the altar- like a plant. A bowl of spring water (preferably) and sea salt can help clear blockages within the emotional body. Refresh this water regularly and never let it stagnate. Bring offerings to your altar consistently and thank the ancestors for their wisdom. Light a candle, burn palo santo and invoke your intention to connect with the ancestors regularly. Remember to keep this altar clean. Do not create this altar in your bedroom, bathroom or kitchen. Find a common living space or create it outdoors. 2) Bring offerings of food. Cooking and feeding the ancestors a portion of your meals is one of the most precious ways I like to connect with my ancestors. This is a powerful symbol of gratitude, honoring and literally connecting with your ancestors through the quality of life force. As you cook your meals each day, put a small amount of your food in a bowl and place it on your altar. Let your ancestors know why you are feeding them- what you are grateful for and what needs you have. Do not let this food sit longer than 24 hours. Once the ancestors have been sufficiently fed, compost the food, let it return to Nature, or feed it to an animal companion. You can also eat the food yourself as a way to imbibe the spirit of the ancestors. 3) Grief Rituals. Attending to your grief is one of the most important parts of building a relationship with the ancestors. Your emotions are like food for them. They receive your grief and eat it like food. They are hungry for your grief, craving it even. Your ability to touch your pain, struggles, suffering and unprocessed emotions, can be supported significantly by the ancestors. They are truly here to support you in this process. Regular grieving is necessary for maintaining health and balance within your entire body. Unprocessed emotions collect within the body and need to be purged regularly in order to create space for life, joy and abundance. Creating a practice of attending to your grief not only allows you to feed the ancestors, but also to release and purge that which is stagnant in your body. If you are able to participate in structured grief rituals multiple times a year, this is ideal. Think of it like a seasonal grief cleanse! 4) Create rituals in your life. Rituals are like spiritual containers. They provide a sacred structure for touching the unseen, the hidden, the realms beyond the mundane. Ritual reminds us there is more to life beyond this veil of illusion. Rituals can be simple or extravagant. I'm suggesting simple, consistent rituals that help you touch into Spirit regularly. Creating daily touch stones to help you connect, is a helpful part of building a relationship with the ancestors. The simplest form of this is to simply make it a daily practice to pause and check, listen and notice. To not only bring presence to Spirit, but also your entire body- physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Pause, check, notice and breathe. What is arriving? Where are you feeling connected? Disconnected? Can you feel a connection to Spirit? Or do you feel disconnected? What messages are arriving? 5) Spend time in nature. Remember that Nature is Spirit and Spirit is Nature. They are one and the same. When we spend sufficient time in Nature, we are more easily able to merge with Her wisdom. We align with the oneness that is inherent within all of us, and surrounding us. Nature can bring a sense of awe, and remind us how powerful Spirit truly is. Spend time with Nature daily if possible. Set an intention to use this as your time to connect with the ancestors. The ancestors live in rock, tree, sky, earth, animal and on and on. Notice what messages Spirit can share with you about your truth, purpose, and ancestral wisdom. Ask for messages and listen carefully for the answers. 6) Awaken your dharma. Your life path and purpose is the ultimate way to feed the ancestors. There is no greater gift to your lineage and to those who have come before you. As you align with your truth and inner wisdom, as you awaken and share your gifts with the world, you bless your lineage in the process. You and the ancestors are both blessed with the gifts and abundance of this journey. Dharma requires that you are willing to lean into your challenges, grief, pain, struggles and suffering. It implies that you are willing to transform, heal and grow as a result of honestly and courageously leaning closer to your shadow. Dharma is not a passive journey, and it is not for the faint of heart. However, the rewards go beyond this life time, beyond this earthly realm. Living your purpose, sharing your gifts in this world and helping others heal and awaken in the process, is the most powerful offering you could ever offer your lineage! Remember that your ancestors are always near. They are waiting anxiously for you to acknowledge them, to welcome them into your life. Allow yourself to be willing to receive their message- in all shapes and forms. Be curious and present in the ways they show up. Even if no messages arrive, keep showing up anyway. Eventually, the space you are creating for them to arrive will pay off. Above all, attend to your grief and lean into your healing journey. Many will hone and align with their highest purpose, others will lose complete sight of their dreams and desires, succumbing to the chaos of this cycle. Those who choose dharma consciously, will be required to face challenges and obstacles head on, in order to continue to align and clarify their path. Read more about Saturn in Sagittarius Dharma is Sanskrit for the path of your soul, your highest purpose. If Dharma is your life path, your soul's true purpose, then Adharma means that which goes against your dharma. What is Adharma? When you lose your path, your joy, passion and what lights you up. When you do not fully align with your soul's purpose, or when you fall off the path, this is considered adharma. Anything that causes you to lose sight of your destiny, dreams, goals or visions, can also be considered adharma. The impact of Adharma can be physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. 6 Signs of Adharma 1) Chaos, confusion, and uncertainty about your purpose and dharmic path. Especially note if this dharmic confusion is systemic in your family and lineage. 2) Thought patterns that keep you stuck, misaligned, resistant or avoidant. Often rooted in the story of "I can't do it because..." 3) Behaviors and choices that sabotage alignment with your soul's purpose. Toxic mental, emotional, physical or spiritual patterns that shadow your inner wisdom and truth. 4) Spiritual by-passing and avoidance of challenges, hardships, struggle and pain. Watch for stories like: "It wasn't meant to be" or "everything happens for a reason." These are often rooted in avoidant behavior. 5) Getting stuck in repeated cycles of loss, failure, challenge and hardship- without clear transformation or change. 6) Lack of joy, pleasure, passion and enthusiasm for what you do and how you offer it to the world. These six signs are key reminders that you are stuck in adharmic patterns, cycles and behaviors. Many of these adharmic tendencies are ancestral and given to you by your lineage. This is actually part of your path- to unravel the legacy of adharmic actions, choices and behaviors. If you can say yes to any of these signs of Adharma, it's time to be realistic about your path! You will need new resources, consistent support and greater clarity to create change and transformation on a deep, lasting level. It is vital that you learn how to move beyond your "stuckness" and get targeted guidance for your journey- or the adharma will not change. Clarifying and honing your dharmic path can not (and should not) be done alone. It is a process of unfolding that requires consistent support, resources and guidance along the way.
