This Week's Intention: Creating inner balance and harmony comes from honoring your polarities. Step towards the darkness and light in equal measure. Lean into discomfort and gather resources. Make necessary adjustments as you listen to the messages arriving. Soak in the silence. The week begins with a waning Moon just finishing up it's passage through the eighth tithi (phase). This phase is called Ashtami in Sanskrit and is ruled by Rahu and the Vasus. It can bring worldly resources and support depending on our receptivity and relationship with Rahu at this time. Rahu and retrograde Jupiter are in tight conjunction- just over a degree apart. The conflict and challenges between dark and light forces continue this week. Notice where you are moving towards more nourishment and support, grounding and stabilizing. What are you saying yes to? What is feeling good? Honor yourself for these choices. Lean into the challenges and gather guidance and resources to support your change process. The transformations possible right now will be deep and lasting. Monday, February 1st Moon in the 9th tithi Just as Monday begins, Moon shifts to Vishaka nakshatra and support of allies and companions arrives. Both Indra and Agni rule this nakshatra- each dependent on the other for gains and accomplishments. King and priest are interdependent on each other. Both rely on the others strengths, skills and resources in order to do their own job and carry out their own dharma. This is a reminder that we can not work alone. Relationships, co-creation and connection are vital to humans, and our ability to thrive. Who and what are you calling in today to support you? What do you need for greater nourishment and ease? Who can help you accomplish this task? Reach out, so others can reach back. Late evening, Moon moves to its debilitation sign, Scorpio, joining Saturn here. Lean in to the emotional body very gently and open to its needs. Tuesday, February 2nd Moon in 10th tithi Moon is debilitated, moving through Scorpio and conjunct Saturn until midweek. The emotional body will be tender, depressed and grief may be stirred. It's important to tend to the internal waters intelligently and honor what is passing through you. Do not suppress or negate the waves. Feeling stuck? This is the message that your inner waters need more movement. Let the body be a resource for opening, awakening and creating momentum. As Moon moves through Anuradha nakshatra today, transforming your mud into beauty, is worthy of your time and effort. Dive deeply and find the inner resources. They may look like challenges, but remember this is just your inner mud. From the mud, grows the lotus blossom. Finding your inner mud insures that you can find your inner resources as well. Can you awaken and transform from the thick, heavy darkness? What types of support, resources and guidance do you need to help you with this process? Seek balance. Wednesday, February 3rd Moon in 11th tithi Indra and his power arrives just after Wednesday begins. As Moon transits Jyeshtha nakshatra, an opportunity to turn sensitivity into strength blossoms. How are you honoring your sensitivity? In this acknowledgement, how can you awaken to your strength? They go hand in hand. As king of the gods, Indra reminds us that we are infinitely powerful, each with an important duty and dharma to share. The strength and power that Indra offers is likened to prana in the Upanishads. How are you directing this inner life force energy? Are you using it to support your path and purpose? Channel the inner winds with conscious intention. Use your power sensitively and your sensitivity with great power. Harness your strength through the senses and by training the mind properly. Today is about re-framing. If you're focusing on everything that's not working, it's time to put more attention on what is working instead. In this way, you create your life. Moon and Saturn are in exact conjunction today. Move the mind and emotions by moving the body. Where are you stuck? Resistant? Contracting? How can you open to more fluidity? Thursday, February 4th Moon in 12th tithi Early morning, Moon leaps to Sagittarius and into Mula nakshatra, joining Mercury and Venus in this fire sign. Jupiter and Rahu both give their gaze. Nirrti arrives with her calamity and chaos principles as a reminder to find your inner stability and grounding cord. She is notorious for bringing change, uprooting deep burdens and pains, bringing them to the surface in the process. This is an uncomfortable experience, yet necessary for awakening, increasing your capacity to the hold the light, and breaking up stagnant, resistant parts of your being so that new pathways can open. Nirrti naturally enlivens the dark forces and pulls you off your path of light, truth and dharma. Wherever you are by-passing and not integrating your light with your dark, Nirrti will show you dis-ease and discomfort. Rather than resist or deny, move closer to it. Listen compassionately, with loving kindness. Notice what you need and ask for guidance. Start letting go of what no longer serves you. Pain included. Friday, February 5th Moon in 13th tithi Mid-morning, Moon moves to PurvaAshada nakshatra, joining Venus and Mercury in this same constellation. Ruling deity Apas increases the flow of water- whether this be creatively or within our bodies. As the water goddess, she creates changes through this fluidity- whether harsh or gentle. Spend time rejuvenating yourself today. Move your body and let the heat within move your inner waters out through your pores. Cry, sing, laugh and channel your creative energy in cathartic ways. Walk or sit near water and honor its cleansing and healing powers. The Moon mirrors the creative potency of Venus and Mercury, while also intensifying the mental and emotional bodies. The gaze of Rahu and Jupiter cause conflicts with good versus evil. This battle is occurring within your mind and emotions. Tend to your stories consciously. Where are you saying yes to your shadow? Where can you invite in the light a bit more? Be authentic with your full range of humanity. Move closer to, rather than away from, your wholeness. Saturday, February 6th Moon in 14th tithi Mid-morning, Moon shifts to the latter half of the Ashada constellation, UttarAshada. Moon continues to track closely with Mercury and moves away from Venus. Rahu and Jupiter continue to give their gaze. Today is about creating authenticity and honoring your truth, affirming your inner power and aligning with the organizing powers of Nature. How are you honoring your wisdom, light and nourishment? Who and what supports this process? As you notice what isn't working, re-direct your focus to what is. Find ways to move towards the helpful, supportive and nourishing in your life. Say yes to that which offers pleasure, support and ease. Find action steps that assist you with this process. Midday, Moon moves to Capricorn, joining Sun here. Ruling planets of this earth sign, Mars and Saturn, give their drishti. The effects of their gaze, provide stabilizing forces to help ground the frenetic and fickle nature of the Moon. However, the energy of Mars and Saturn is also contradictory. Mars is a doer, while Saturn is slow and methodical. This can cause challenges with action and inaction, as well as with polarities. Find ways to walk the middle ground today, honoring balance, integration and harmony within. Use sacred pauses to check in and notice where you are landing. Just before Sunday arrives, Moon moves through the sacred 28th nakshatra, Abhijit. This star invites spirit in new ways. Pause and listen carefully. Set intentions and allow new possibilities to stir you. Sunday, February 7th Moon in 15th tithi Moon continues to move through Abhijit until mid morning. Start your morning with meditation, deep breathing, intentions and aligning with your spiritual body. Half way through Sunday morning, Moon moves to Sravana nakshatra, Vishnu's domain. His element is Akasha, space, which means he is everywhere. His role is to sustain and preserve, which he does through dharma. Honor your steps and the direction you are heading. Your path is sacred, powerful and important. Step into your power in conscious ways and align with your purpose. Let the wisdom of Vishnu's sustaining forces support your momentum. What resources and guidance are showing up to assist your path? What moments of truth and inner wisdom are you gathering? As Moon moves closer to the Sun, becoming new, we are invited to drop into our being with a new receptivity. Honor the pause and find ways to listen more deeply to your inner knowing. Let your being be stirred by the silence and trust the messages that arrive. Monday, February 8th Moon in 15th tithi (Amavasya) and 1st tithi New Moon is Monday morning at 06:39 am PST, while Moon is in Capricorn and Dhanishta Nakshatra. The coming waxing cycle is oriented towards expansion, while also supporting shining more brightly in the world through the support of the Vasu Devas. Resources, support and abundance can be delivered through alignment with right action, dharma and sharing one's talents and creative forces. Vas means "to shine" in Sanskrit. This nakshatra brings visibility through one's light (jyoti), but mostly through sharing this inner light with others. Both Sun and Moon receive drishti from Mars and Saturn at the time of the new Moon. Saturn rules Capricorn, offering stability, support, structure and a methodical, hard working nature. Mars is considered exalted in Capricorn, and his gaze provides a fierce tenacity and focused warrior spirit. Together, these planets inspire the Sun and Moon to find clarity, purpose and power for the coming cycle. Themes to work with for the coming weeks include expanding what you think is possible for yourself and your path, while finding new resources to support this task. It will be your creativity and how you use your potent inner wealth, that will determine your success. Do you suppress or resist your passion and creative powers? Or do you channel them effectively with clear actions that are aligned with your purpose? Don't waste your energy on tasks that are frivolous or mundane. Step into your full power and say yes to life! Monday continues with Moon transiting Dhanishta nakshatra, shifting to Aquarius late afternoon, where she joins Ketu- still transiting the 29 degree range. Rahu and retrograde Jupiter give their gaze seven houses away. The emotional body becomes extra sensitive at this time, though increased wisdom, insights and awareness may arrive. Pausing and attending to your sacred inner realms will be vital in order to catch the messages. Read more about the New Moon + Creative Ritual here. * All timing given in Pacific Standard Time Zone.
