New Moon arrives in sidereal Aries on April 15th at 19:58 MT. Sun has just shifted to exaltation in Aries and both Sun and Moon will be in Ashwini nakshatra at the time of the new Moon. The Vedic New Year begins on Friday April 13th at 20:19 MT as Sun arrives in Aries- though officially the start of the New Year comes with the New Moon on Sunday. As Sun and Moon begin anew, a fresh start arrives for the masculine and feminine within. Sun completes a year long transit through the zodiac and steps into Aries on Friday, jump starting the beginning of a new cycle. Sun loves being in Aries because he can fully express his power, light, clarity and purpose. He is exalted in this sign because he can use his power at 100% capacity. Expect more energy, strength and precision in the coming weeks. Use your power and clarity wisely and take life supporting action steps. Purify and clean up diet, behaviors and choices that are keeping you disempowered. Watch for anger and rage. What boundaries need to be clarified in order to honor your power more fully? This is a powerful time of year to step into your inner strength, purpose and dharma. Take action steps to fulfill your dharmic path. Honor your power and strength. Clear and release what is holding you back from your strength, power and purpose- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Ask for resources, support and guidance in order to maximize this time. Sidereal New Moon in Aries on Sunday April 15th jump starts the Vedic New Year, followed by the most auspicious day of the year Akshaya Tritiya on the 18th. On this day, Sun and Moon are both exalted, bringing energy, power and strength to all actions. This planetary alignment happens once per year. It is said that all actions will be fruitful on this day and expand exponentially. It is a powerful day to take dharmic steps and any action step you want a positive result from. Donate to charities, share, teach, connect and offer your services. Renewal, awakening, release and opening are arriving. Use this time wisely! Step into your power! Get new results and make more empowered choices! Awaken the light within. The new Moon is in Ashwini nakshatra, the domain of the Ashwini-Kumara twins. Ayurvedic experts, the Kumara twins support healing, transformation and awakening through the creative and healing arts. The symbol of this constellation is a horse's head, which expresses the strength and power possible within this portion of the sky. The influence of this nakshatra awakens the immense vitality and wisdom of the horse. Horses create an antivenom that heals snake bites, symbolizing their power to fight poison- especially physically. What poisons need to be healed and released within? What purification and clarity does your body need? What poisons are you ready to eradicate from your life? Clear the body of the past and make space for the new. Keep the gut clear and support the digestion of the mental body. In the cycle ahead, relationships, support and stability are the primary focus. Seek new balance and integration between self and other. Clean up relationship messes within and attend to the relationship with self. Where are you burning yourself out? Who and what are you allowing to burn up your life force energy? What behaviors, choices and actions are keeping you less than vital? Where do you need to reconnect within your body in order for more strength, support and stability within? The process of integration, alignment and gathering support will require that you retrace your steps and cover old ground. Relationships will ask you to revisit and recalibrate in order for you to gather the insights and wisdom you seek. Build a solid support system by getting clear on what you need and reaching out for the resources, guidance and team members you need. There are new answers arriving. Create space for the clarity and be specific about your desires. You will be asked to restructure your heart and find a new way of relating. Learn to love with boundaries and honor your sacred inner temple above all. Creative Ritual What does empowerment feel like? How do you feel this energy in your body? Use my Tapping Meditation below to support an increase in your power. Then use this awareness to create an image and identify your needs. Take this surge of energy and channel it into powerful action steps! Once you create your image of power, share it with us in the Embodied Moon FB group! Step #1 How do you know if you are disempowered, disconnected from your inner source? When your breath is short, body is tight and mind is running the show, you are likely disconnected from your inner wisdom and power. This may present itself through emotional body reactions, mental stories that seem to be on repeat in your head, and physical body responses that constrict you, leaving you closed off to possibility, options, new choices. Read More and Listen to my Tapping Meditation for Empowerment Step #2 Create an image of what it feels like to be empowered, connected and feeling your inner strength. What colors, textures and images arrive? Using craypas, paints or pencils, create an image of your power. Create an image that expresses this feeling using colors, textures and shapes. Allow 20 minutes at minimum for this nourishment image. Title your image. Step #3 Use your image to inspire a movement exploration. Let your body move in response to your image with the intention of "moving with your feelings". What feelings emerge for you during your dance? What awareness? Allow 5 to 10 minutes for this movement exploration. I encourage you to extend this time frame as you recycle this process. Step #4 Harvesting. In your journal answer these questions: I am, I want, I need, I sense, I feel, I imagine, I express Where do I feel support in my life? Where do I need more support? The second full Moon of March occurs on the 31st at 06:36 am MT while Moon transits sidereal Virgo and Hasta nakshatra. Earthy, female Virgo brings a Mercurial nature to this coming cycle. Ruling planet of Virgo is Mercury, which correlates to the mental body. Mercury is currently retrograde in his debilitation sign of Pisces, rendering him nica bangha, which gives a reversal of the debilitation. This strengthens the expression of Mercury until April 15th when he goes direct. Savitr rules the domain of Hasta, providing awakening, new light and awareness. In the coming waning cycle, the mental body is key. Honor the mind and support it with release and resources. Endings, letting go and finales are occurring. What old stories and personal mythology are you prepared to let go of? Forge a new path and awaken new possibilities. Relationships are key in this cycle. Notice how your relationships make you feel. Are you nourished and supported? Are you honored and acknowledged? Do you feel supported and resourced, or depleted and disconnected? Grief and trauma may be activated through the emotional body. What stories and experiences are returning for you to reevaluate, acknowledge, clear and release? Be mindful of communication with the masculine and authority in the coming days. There may be anger, uncertainty, confusion and old stories returning. What needs to be reevaluated? What clean up needs to take place? Finances and relationships are going through a purification and rejuvenation process. There is a tight conjunction of Mars and Saturn happening right now in Sagittarius. These opposing planets move into exact conjunction in the coming days, until Mars passes over Saturn and moves to the other side of him early next week. Mars is action oriented and acts very young and aggressive. Saturn is very slow and requires patience and stability. Mars is go, Saturn is stop. This conjunction causes frustration and stops and starts. There may be anger or aggression, or in inability to be decisive- depending on how these planets impact you natally. You may also be making poor choices rooted in fear. Be mindful of how your fear (conscious or unconscious) might be impacting your choices. This combination can increase challenges with fear and an inability to make choices that align with dharma, right action. Is there resistance showing up? Look to see where Sagittarius is in your Jyotish chart. What house is effected by this frustration and fear? Themes arriving have to do with dharma, right action, purpose, clarifying goals and moving towards them, spiritual beliefs and needs, teachers, thighs, life path, aim and direction. The waning cycle may bring fear, frustrations and challenges with your gifts and offerings. These emotions are asking you to pay attention, lean in and honor your needs and feelings. Clarify your dharmic path, your purpose and your gifts. Purify and organize your actions and be diligent with your choices. Get focused! Savitr brings the light in the coming days! He is the god of dawn, new light and awakening. He supports your inner awakening and brilliance. Increase your light, your wisdom and your inner Sun. The light is getting brighter. Flip the switch! Use resources to support your awakening. Clean up your diet, your gut intelligence and awaken the gifts in your hands. Heal and be healed. Ask for support and guidance in order for increased awareness and wisdom. Recite the Gayatri mantra to support the awakening of Savitr within. What is dawning within you and your life right now? How are you supporting the light within? How are you resisting it? To connect with Savitr, to awaken the magic in the hands, to bring forth the dawning and consciousness expansion, recite Gayatri Mantra. Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ tát savitúr váreṇ(i)yaṃ bhárgo devásya dhīmahi dhíyo yó naḥ pracodáyāt Creative RitualThe hands allow us to create, to put into action our imagination and ideas. Arms and hands reach, hold, grab, punch, push and give us a way to build and destroy, hold on or let go. We express our desire to give and take, take in and release with this body part. They are extensions of our emotions and can help us communicate feelings. The hands correlate to the third house of the jyotish chart. "We often enact our feelings of love, caring and tenderness with our arms and hands. We most often use our arms and hands to connect with others. Arms and hands are the most socially accepted way to make contact in most cultures. Arms and hands reach out to express longing and desire." - Daria Halprin, The Expressive Body in Life, Art and Therapy 1) Movement Exploration. Begin your dance with your fingertips. Enter the body through the tips of your fingers. Bring movement into the fingers, into the palms, wrists, elbows and shoulders. Notice the articulations, undulations, opens and closes of these body parts. Extend and reach. Fold and contract. Make a fist, then open this tightness and feel the contrast. See if your breath can mirror the open and close of the hands. Track sensations arriving in the hands. Continue your exploration until your dance feels complete. As you pause. Notice if any words or phrases are emerging. Repeat this phrase allowed three times. 2) Create an Image: Come to your drawing pad. Outline your hands. Make a hand collage of multiple outlines or even just one hand print. When your hand collage feels complete, answer these questions: I am, I want, I need What are you holding? What are you releasing? What are you grabbing? What are you pushing? What are you punching? What are you poking and prodding? Did you miss my special Navaratri Abundance class? Moon joins Sun, exalted Venus and debilitated Mercury here as well. All receive gaze from Mars and Rahu. This combination can provoke aggression and confusion, as well as a lack of clear thinking and intensified emotions. This theme may intensify throughout the waxing cycle. Focus on clearing and releasing what rises to the surface and attend to the needs arriving. Allow emotions to move through you and support the release of your big emotions. New Moon in Purvabhadra increases the need for integration and balance of opposing forces. There is a need for honoring duality and harmonizing conflicts. Ajaikapada rules over this portion of the sky. He is an expression of Nataraja, Lord of the Dance, Lord Shiva. He dances between realms, worlds, and holds both. One foot grounded and rooted, the other lifted, prepared to move forward. This is an expression of his ability to hold duality and integrate opposing forces. Shiva asks us to simplify and do tapas in order for purification. Something must be released and actions and behaviors need to be simplified. Through this process of releasing, simplifying and purifying, clarity, wisdom and prosperity emerges. The power of Rudra is offered under this constellation, which can be channeled into auspicious activities and purposes with positive results. The symbol of this constellation is the front half of a funeral cot, inviting in release and letting go. This cycle prepares us for something new. Be prepared to let go, in order for the new to have space to arrive. A deep level of purification is taking place in the days ahead. Support this process and allow new resources to support you. There is much clearing and release taking place. This waxing cycle supports clearing and letting go of the old. Parts of you that have been stuck will require your conscious uprooting. This may mean you have to retrace some old terrain in order to support the clearing. Dive deeply and honor depths and unconscious realms. Awakening to your inner conflicts and polarities are key in this process. Gains come with your clearing and release process. You must make room for something new. This process may require diving into very old, painful territory and cleaning up relationship grief. Seek integration, harmony and balance between self and others. Between inner and outer. Between your darkness and light. What mirrors are arriving to help you attend to the past and release it? What relationships need to be released once and for all? What integration and balance is needed in order for deeper grounding? In the cycle ahead, attend to your grounding, inner and outer stability as well as your feet. Connect with the earth and find ways to deepen your roots. Find your ground and activate your inner intelligence. Pay attention to your feet and what they tell you about your grounding cord. Stay rooted. As the new Moon arrives, Chaitra Navaratri begins as well. Navaratri begins the evening of the 17th and continues until the 25th of March. The final day of Navaratri is Ram Navami, the celebrated birth day of Lord Ram. The Navaratri celebration is an expression of what is taking place within Nature, through the Laws that govern Nature, marking an important transition within us and around us. Align with Nature and Her powerful energy of change and transformation during Navaratri. Ritualize your connections with Nature- in order to land more closely to your own inner wisdom, to Her wisdom. Strengthen your connection to self and Spirit. Navaratri is a poignant time in the Vedic Calendar. This ancient calendar is one that is dedicated to Nature and her cycles and rhythms, the planets, and most importantly the Moon. In the Vedic Calendar, time is connected to what Nature and the cosmos are doing, and these elements are intimately related. Navaratri occurs twice a year- in the "gap" seasons of spring and fall. These times are considered sandhi times; delicate times that feel like you are neither here, nor there. We might call it the netherworld. This time, though delicate, is considered sacred. Read More About Navaratri. Creative Ritual Feet bring stability and grounding. They offer us the ability to "step forward" both physically and metaphorically in our lives. We sense and connect to the earth (the ultimate support system) through the souls of our feet which helps us find our overall balance, nourishment and resiliency. Time to step forward with momentum and spring into new actions in order to harvest new growth, wisdom and abundance. 1) Use the feet as a starting point for your movement exploration. Notice the sensations in your feet. How do they feel? Move through space and notice your feet. Bring awareness to the souls of your feet and the sensations arriving. Spend 10-20 minutes moving your body, while noticing the sensations in your feet. 2) Create an image of your feet. What colors, shapes and images arrive? Use craypas, paints, pencil or collage to create this image. Spend 10-20 minutes in the creative process. Title your image and ask your foot image to share with you. If it could speak, what would it say? 3) In your journal, spend some time answering these questions: What am I stepping towards? What am I moving away from? I call myself the Dharma Midwife. Send me a message to see if I have any openings: swatijrjyotish@gmail.com The March Full Moon arrives on the first day of March at 17:51, coinciding with the Vedic fertility festival of Holi, enlivening vitality, life force energy and creativity. This Full Moon is in sidereal Leo and Purvaphalguni nakshatra- which powerfully correlates to sexuality, sensuality, relationships and creative life force energy. This portion of the sky expresses the essence of spring- fragrant flowers blossoming, bees buzzing and the sap beginning to flow. Purvaphalguni nakshatra is ruled by Bhaga, the deity of enjoyment and pleasure. He supports sensuality and feeling through relating. His role is to spark relationships, connection and co-creation. He especially supports sensuality and sexuality. However, he is not what sustains or supports long term relationship success. He represents the fun, exciting beginning, not the hard work and time it takes to make a relationship last. What new seeds are sprouting right now? What relationships do you need for greater support and nourishment? This Full Moon also marks the Holi celebration in the Vedic calendar, which often roughly coincides with the vernal equinox and the arrival of spring (for the Northern Hemisphere). The equinox arrives on March 20th this year. Holi is a Vedic fertility celebration, sparking immense life force energy, potential and creative power to enliven. Step into your Divine Feminine power! No matter the hemisphere you are in, both spring and fall are considered "sandhi" times of year- or in between seasons. These are sacred times, when the veil is thin, sensitivity is heightened, and in Ayurveda we attend to necessary physical rituals that help the body cleanse and purify. Holi comes at this sacred junction and is a time to "plant seeds" so to speak. It is a celebration of fertility, abundance and the awakening of Shakti within Nature. This full enlivening of Ma, the Divine Mother, is celebrated during Vasant Navaratri- the nine days of Mother Divine beginning March 17th this year. We can consider this her "kick off" celebration as we plant our desires and create our fruits. Let this Full Moon bring you a sense of spring and possibility, hope and awakening. In the coming cycle, expand your emotional body container. Your ability to feel all your feelings- hard or soft- allows you to create room for your deepest desires and nourishment. Without honoring the shadow, the light cannot arrive. Relationships take your focus and attention. A flood of new connections is arriving. Who are you inviting into your sacred space? Who and what needs to be released, cleared and let go of? Clear undigested grief from your gut, your solar plexus and your power center. Eat clean, simple foods and avoid excess- sweets, intoxicants, alcohol, sex and spending. Release overindulgence and seek balance, integration and stability. This will make room for increased energy, strength and vitality. Put focused attention on restoration and rejuvenation, as well as healing practices. Release shadow, darkness and limiting beliefs to clear the path for your dharmic clarity and unfolding. Strengthen your health, vitality and endurance. What action steps, choices and behaviors need an upgrade in order for you to have more power, strength and clarity in your body mind? An opening is taking place. Take conscious steps towards new doors of nourishment. Creative RitualMy Creative Rituals are intended to support your transformation and healing process in the cycle to come. Each ritual is in alignment with the cosmic tides- in order to help you adjust, shift and move more fluidly in balance with Nature's rhythms. Recycle this ritual more than once for added benefits. Similar to exalted planets in that they are "full" and can't be "added to", a Full Moon (or Purnima) means that it is full to capacity, there's no more room for it to expand and grow; it is complete. In this way, we can interpret the Full Moon as a "New Moon" in that it marks the beginning of a new cycle of emptying itself and refilling itself (mirroring our internal process). Beginning a lunar month at the Purnima is called Suklanta and differs from starting the count from the New Moon (Amavasya) which is the point when the Moon is empty and is waiting to be filled by the Sun. Purnima is in the middle of the Lakshmi phase of the Moon cycle whereas Amavasya is the moment during the cycle where Kali and Durga meet. Clearly, the energy is quite different; mirrored in our internal experience as well. These different methods of starting the lunar calendar remind me of the saying "is your glass half empty or half full?!" When do we start our "New Moon" calendar and begin our new lunar month? When we are full and satisfied or when we are empty and needing to be nourished? It is with this question in mind that I came up with this week's Creative Engagement Activity. Read more about the importance of the Moon. Often for a New Moon or a Full Moon, I like to work with the image of a mandala. Mandalas help us to create and express fullness, to fill empty space, to work with what is. Mandalas are a container, filled, with our visions, creativity and desire- much like a metaphor for life. 1) With this idea of "creating within a container" as well as half the image of full/empty, I invite you to draw two large circle shapes on a piece of paper. Cover up one of the circles with a sheet of paper while you create within the other. 2) The theme for this first circle is "being filled". Fill in the first circle with what you desire for the cycle to come. What do you want to be filled with? 3) When you feel complete with the first circle, look at both circles on your paper. One is "full" and one is "empty". What thoughts come to you? What feelings? Then answer these statements under your first circle: I am, I want, I need 4) Next, begin working on the second circle. The theme for this circle is "being emptied". What are you releasing and letting go of as you move into the cycle to come? 5) When you feel complete, write a few notes down. What do you notice as you look at the entire piece? What thoughts come to you? What feelings? Then answer these statements under your first circle: I am, I want, I need 6) Finally, harvest your thoughts on this process. Circle ten words that leap out at you from the writing you've done. Form these words into a three to five line poem. (Adding extra words is ok). Share your poem below! * Extra credit for dancing (embodying) your images and poem at some point this week. Send me a message to see if I have any openings: swatijrjyotish@gmail.com Shivaratri arrives FEB 13th just before the new Moon (Amavasya) on February 15th. This is a time of deep silence and strong potential. It is the marriage celebration of Shiva and Shakti, a symbolic union of wholeness- when the absolute unmanifest, conjoins with the pulse of life force energy. Masculine and feminine merge and create life- and the ability to manifest becomes amplified. From this place of union, we can ignite the power of being, the power of life. Transformations abound right now- inner and outer. Are you paying attention to polarities in your life? What dualities are you aware of and what is needed for their integration? This is a powerful time for meditation and reciting the Mrityunjaya Mantra: oṁ tryambakaṁ yajāmahe sugandhiṁ puṣṭi-vardhanam ǀurvārukam-iva bandhanān mṛtyormukṣīya māmṛtāt ǁ Shivaratri supports planting seeds of potential through the depth of silence. Shiva as destroyer, is at one with this awakened state of creativity. His role is to support your collapse into concentrated, focused alignment with the harmony of existence- that which is pure consciousness, deep, unaltered silence and awakening. This is where your creativity resides, your ability to manifest, create and transform- over and over again. Through the transcendence, you can easily touch this silence in its pure form. Shiva reminds us to use this silence to release, simplify and transform. From a silent and awakened state, you can plant the seeds of life more intentionally and powerfully. Use your deep inner silence for stirring your creative desires. Next, the fertility festival of Holi, will activate your silent seeds, helping them become more fully awakened with the creative wisdom of Nature. What are you creating for your powerful life? What is your vision? Let your imagination move you into being. Create life! NEW MOON The February New Moon occurs on Thursday the 15th at 14:06 MT with a partial solar eclipse. This closes the eclipse portal that has been open since the full lunar eclipse on January 31st. The partial solar eclipse begins at 11:55 am MT and concluding at 15:47 MT. The maximum eclipse will be at 13:51 MT. The eclipse will only be visible in South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Antarctica. From a Vedic perspective, it is not advised to be outside during an eclipse or to look directly at the eclipse. Wear a head covering if you have to be outside so you don't absorb the shadow. Ideally, this is a time for spiritual practices such as meditation, chanting and fasting. Set intentions and honor the sensitivity of this time. The new Moon occurs in sidereal Aquarius and Dhanishtha nakshatra, the constellation of the Vasu Devas, the bearers of light, jyoti. They want visibility, awakening and creative purpose. Powerful action can be ignited here- if in right relationship with dharma and right relationship with your life path. By the time the new Moon arrives, Sun and Mercury have now entered Sidereal Aquarius. Balance polarities and integrate opposing forces. Face your shadow and grief with authenticity. Find new ways and resources in order to navigate your challenges. The same challenges are present for you, but in order to get different results you'll need to try some new, more innovative options and choices. Learn from your past mistakes and don't repeat them. This is a time to deepen your empowerment- which comes through integration and strengthening digestion. Use this cycle to maximize your dharmic pursuits and gather the necessary guidance and resources to support you in this. There is a strong focus on life path in this cycle. Don't neglect this. More support awakens as you move closer to your shadow and limiting beliefs. Courageously lean into your darkness in order for the light to arrive. Shine light on your unconscious and unseen realms. Clear away the rubble and move towards new nourishment and desires. Where are you resisting change, solutions, possibility and your deepest desires? What is stopping you from taking action steps? What limitations are keeping you from stepping into your power and purpose? In the cycle to come, you will be asked to face your grief- with your self and your relationships. Clear and release- in order to make room for more life. Strengthen inner support and physical body support. Uproot and release support that is no longer helping you and create space for the new. Trust your gut wisdom and ask for its guidance. Clear and purify your gut intelligence in order for a stronger intuition and empowerment. Deepen your sense of balance- inner and outer. What does this feel like in your body? The closing of the eclipse portal with a partial solar eclipse, brings emphasis on the physical and spiritual bodies. Needs emerge around the masculine, structure and support. The Sun illuminates the solar system and brings life and light to us. As the Sun's light gets partially obstructed, so will the light within. This is not a time to make big decisions or start new projects. Wait a few days until the light returns and notice what themes arrive in your personal mythology at this time. Close doors that need to be closed and be willing to open new ones. Creative RitualSelf Tracking, Learning from the Wisdom of the Body 1) Sit, stand or lay down. Close your eyes and fall into the rhythm of your breath. Notice the rise and fall of your chest, the waves of breath moving in and out of your body. Take some time to relax into this rhythm. 2) As the body moves to greater stillness and relaxation through breath awareness, locate a sensation in the body. This sensation might show up as a tingling, a pulsing, or a sense of vibration. There might even be a color, a shape, a sound or a word that arrives in connection to the body part. Listen and honor whatever arrives for you. Don't filter the messages, judge or critique them. Your only job is to listen right now. Be curious, be interested, and be present to the body's messages. What body part emerges? What sensations are arriving? What messages are shared? Take note of this wisdom coming to you from your body. 3) Create an image of this physical body sensation that arrived through your self tracking. Use craypas or paint and put your experience on paper- so as to transfer the felt senses into a tangible, visual expression. This is a powerful part of the process and one that can shift us into deeper awareness of our body wisdom. 4) Once your image is complete, give it a title. Now, let it speak. What does your image have to share with you? If your image could speak, what would it say? 5) Pull out your Jyotish chart. What body part emerged in your self tracking exploration? What house of the chart is connected to this body part? Study this house within your chart. What do you notice? We can analyze the experience of the house by noting: What planets are sitting there, if any? What sign is located in this house? Do any planets give their drishti (gaze)? Finally, note the current transits and what planets might be effecting this house currently. Your body is sharing with you a very specific message. This message is directly connected to your needs, your desires, your deep longing for nourishment, comfort, safety and support on some core level. When we can access the wisdom of the body directly, we get very clear, unfiltered messages and insights. The cosmic intelligence of the jyotish chart can then help us further identify what is impacting us both macrocosmically and microcosmically. This is the vital information we need for deepening our healing and transformation process. Want more support with this process? Send me a message to see if I have any openings: swatijrjyotish@gmail.com A powerful Full Moon arrives on the last day of January at 06:26 am MT while Moon transits sidereal Cancer and Ashlesha nakshatra, awakening the serpent energy of Sarpa. Coinciding with this full Moon is a total Lunar Eclipse, opening a two week gap that is particularly vulnerable for heart matters. This eclipse portal begins with the full Moon on January 31st and ends with the new Moon and a partial solar eclipse on February 15th. Eclipses are notorious for forcing us to address our shadow parts and inner illusions. Sarpa, the serpent who rules the constellation of Ashlesha, exemplifies this. He is responsible for provoking uncertainty, inner questioning and self doubt, however if we are willing to lean closer to these parts of our personal mythology, we have the chance for great awakening and transformation as well. The intersection between mental and emotional bodies is awakened. We must look at the dynamics between our thoughts and feelings at this time. How do these two bodies influence each other? How do they influence you? Sarpa energy is associated with occult and mystical knowledge, rather than more traditional surface or sattvic wisdom. He supports a deep dive into the transcendental realms, provoking immense transformation and change. The dark side of this energy can get you lost on a path of darkness and deception, following false wisdom and those with poor or harmful intentions. An important reminder for Ashlesha nakshatra is to align with knowledge that comes from ancient sources and sattvic resources. Ashlesha nakshatra encourages awakening, however it is not through traditional means. This constellation supports Kundalini rising and transcendence through unusual means. The dark side of this nakshatra can cause adharma, getting lost on one's path through intoxicants, shadowed knowledge, the dark arts and deception. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. In this cycle, and throughout the Eclipse Portal, align more closely with your heart wisdom and deepen your connection with your emotional body. Pay attention to your shadow work and don't spiritual by-pass. Positivity must be integrated with negativity, light and dark must intersect. Don't push away your shadow, lean closer to it. Your spiritual ego might keep you from seeing the shadow clearly. Move closer to your fears, doubts and uncertainties. Allow your trauma to inform your deepest needs for support and nourishment. Your emotional body has a lot of wisdom to share with you. Without honoring its wisdom, you will miss the crucial resources you need for deeper nourishment. Don't by-pass your grief and big emotions. Use them to support your awakening. What do your emotions tell you about your core needs? During this full Moon, Venus collides with Ketu and combusts Sun. Mercury conjuncts these three planets, causing a certain fragility with the mental, physical and spiritual bodies. The emotional body is impacted by this intensity, however the physical body is particularly vulnerable in the coming cycle. Life force is easily drained and burned up. Guard your health and vitality. Don't push too hard or over work. Slow, steady and gentle steps are best. Take ample pauses and extra rest. There is something important bubbling up from your depths that will support your dharmic path, but you will miss the messages if you are moving too fast. The pressure you are feeling needs to be released. Find ways to lessen the stress and get to the root of your limiting beliefs. Why are you pushing yourself so hard? Unpack your scarcity story. What is the story that keeps you playing small? Relationships are particularly vulnerable in this cycle. Watch out for illusion and deception showing up in your relationships. You may feel unsupported and misaligned with others. You may feel emotionally drained and challenged. Pay attention to these emotions and let them guide you towards a deeper understanding of what you need. What boundaries do you need to clarify? What relationships need to be released and set free? Who and what do you need in your life in order to feel more supported and well resourced? Cut away and release what is not able to hold you and honor your depths. Ask for and gather supportive resources and guidance. Build new relationships and alliances that honor your wholeness, not your separate parts. This full Moon coincides with a full lunar eclipse- the first of 2018. The eclipse begins January 31st at 03:51am MT and will end at 09:08 am MT. The maximum eclipse is at 06:29 am MT. The eclipse is visible in North/East Europe, Asia, Australia, North/East Africa, North America, North/West South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, Antarctica. The coming two week eclipse portal will intensify the shadow and your personal mythology around the emotional body, relationships, dharma, integrity, guidance, support, spiritual knowledge, occult and mystical wisdom, shadow work and transformation. Seek resources and guidance that are trustworthy, traditional and in right-relationship with the shadow. Pay close attention to the needs surfacing at this time. These needs will continue to provoke your actions and choices in the months to come. Be gentle with yourself and honor your emotions, heart and home. Creative RitualThis Creative Ritual will also help you work directly with your challenges- emotion or otherwise. Take your challenge into your creative process and see what develops! Step #1 Movement Exploration. What emotion are you feeling? Is it anger, depression, frustration, chaos, uncertainty? Start dancing this emotion. What does it feel like in your body? Do the "dance of anger" for example. What emerges as you do your anger dance?! Remember to let sounds out! Move and develop your dance for at least minutes. When you feel a sense of closure, ask yourself these questions: I sense, I feel, I imagine. Step #2 Create an image of your emotion. What does it feel like? Put it on paper using colors, textures and shapes. Create an image that expresses your experience with this emotion and whatever emerged in your dance. Spend at least 5 to 20 minutes creating this image. I suggest using paints or craypas and a large piece of paper. Title your image. In your journal or on the back of the drawing answer this question: If your image could speak what would it say? Step #3 Harvesting. Answer these baseline statements and questions in your journal once you have completed the previous steps. I am___ I want___ I need___ What am I opening to? What am I closing to? Recycle this process whenever strong emotions emerge. Remember they arrive to give you important messages. Listen carefully and honor them with deeper listening. What is the emotions telling you? What do you need for deeper nourishment in your life? I call myself the Dharma Midwife. I am on a mission to help sensitive souls connect with their inner truth and inner wisdom. Send me a message to see if I have any openings: swatijrjyotish@gmail.com The first New Moon of the year arrives on January 16th at 19:17 MST while Moon is transiting sidereal Capricorn and UttarAshada nakshatra. Just before the new Moon, on Sunday, January 14th, the returning of the Sun arrives. Makar Sankranti in the Vedic Calendar marks the movement of Surya/Sun into Capricorn and the beginning of more light and longer days. Mentioned in the Mahabharata, this solar festival is estimated to be about 5,000 years old. Mark this timing with intention and invite in the return of the light. What are you inviting in and ready to receive?! Hours before the new Moon, Mars shifts into its own sign, Scorpio, until March 7th. Planets in their own signs tend to offer more balance. Expect the warrior planet to ask you to dive deeply into your personal mythology. Look within and peer into your shadows and illusions. Use fear as a resource and let it guide you towards meaning and purpose. Superficiality won't be tolerated in this cycle. Put your muck boots on. Fiery Mars is considered exalted in Capricorn and four planets collide in this earthy sign at the time of the New Moon. Venus and Sun are too close for comfort still, creating a combustion. When fire (Sun) and water (Venus) conjunct, steam is created. How do you direct this passionate energy? Don't get burned out. Watch for depletion of your life force energy and overworking. Rest, silence and least force is vital right now. Venus, Sun, and Moon collide with the Moksha planet, Ketu as well. Ketu always brings restructuring and release which deepens at the time of the new Moon. Watch for sudden changes and transformations. What are you releasing and letting go of? What needs to be burned, cut, restructured or transformed in order to create space for the new? What personal mythology is keeping you stressed, overworked and misaligned? The constellation of UttarAshada is fixed- which gives stable, lasting results that offer great benefits. Vishvadeva rules this portion of the sky and provides integrity and alignment with ones highest purpose. Adharma (that which goes against dharma) is not tolerated. Integrity is key with this constellation. The all-gods who rule this domain remind us of virtue, goodness, truth, determination, talent, time, enjoyment, firmness, sight, fame and leadership. These are non-negotiable attributes of one's dharmic path. Where are you aligned with your purpose? Where are you misaligned? Use this waxing cycle to make radical improvements within your life path. This is a time of great healing and transformation. Seek balance, integration and strength. Clarify your needs and what is missing on your path. What resources and support do you need for greater ease and alignment? Where are you making life harder than it needs to be? Open you heart by leaning into your darkness and shadow. Not sure what this looks like for you? Notice where you are resisting or sabotaging your success, your needs and your nourishment. Attend to your gut, digestion and power. Watch for conflicts and misunderstandings. Seek peaceful solutions, without avoidance. Use your fire carefully. Creative Ritual PART #1 1) If I could do anything I wanted without the fear of failure what would it be? 2) What is stopping me right now from taking the first step? 3) How can I overcome what is stopping me? PART #2 Where do you want to be six months from now?! Step 1: Write down your vision. Journal it into your full awareness. Step 2: Create your vision. Draw, paint or collage your vision into form. Give it a title. Step 3: Harvest your vision. If your image could speak to you, what would it say?! Step 4: Make your vision a reality. What steps need to take place for your vision to become a reality six months from now?! What action step can you take today?! I call myself the Dharma Midwife. Send me a message to see if I have any openings: swatijrjyotish@gmail.com The January Gemini full Moon arrives with a roar at 19:24 MT on the first day of the year. 2018 begins with a powerful burst of energy and the intensity of the storm god, Rudra. The waning cycle ahead is equally intense so be mindful of your need to ground and land- even while this storm energy is moving through. It will be especially important to be diligent with the mental body in the days ahead, as it will be strong and ready for action. Can you tame the mind, rather than let it run away with you? Time in nature and in meditation will serve you well as the Moon begins to release in the days ahead. Even with the intensity and power of this cycle, retreat, alone time and silence are more essential than ever. Resist the urge to force your steps and push for outcomes. Moon is in Ardra nakshatra at the time of the Full Moon. Rudra, the storm god, rules this portion of the sky. His energy is sharp and action oriented. There is drive, force and even aggression with this constellation. Expect big bursts of emotion and energy, while tempering extremes and imbalance. How can you channel this energy with intention and insight? The symbol of this nakshatra is a tear drop, inviting grief, sadness and the wisdom of loss to burst from the emotional body. However, this portion of the sky is more prone to anger than touching the sadness that lies underneath. Expect emotional upheaval and plan for grounding, gentleness and safe containers to hold you. Can you touch the anger within? What lies underneath your anger? What needs are surfacing. Find healthy ways to release your emotions in the days ahead. What supports your emotional body movement? What resources allow you to ground, land and connect within? Use this waning cycle to cut and release ties that are unhealthy and under nourishing- especially relationships. There may be anger at others, or others may be aggressive towards you. Use clear boundaries and honor your needs. Focus on your inner needs and cultivate practices of presence and connection with self and others. The pelvis and lower body may feel unstable in the days ahead. Stay rooted in your sacral chakra and heart. It's time to heal and be healed. Release conflicts and inner battles. What is keeping you disconnected? Deepen your inner power and purpose. Land in your heart and root into the earth. Use the power available at this time to move into bold new territory in all areas of your life. Let this cycle help you deepen your inner power and purpose. Take empowered action steps. Be bold, courageous and visible. This will require that you lean into your shadow and personal mythology- especially on the mental body level. Where are you deceiving yourself? Playing small and disempowering yourself? It's time to step up and step in. The coming days will require you to look at your darkness, shadow and illusions more closely. Use this to help you transform, change, heal and grow. The immense power available in this cycle ushers in an exciting and remarkable year ahead. This is not the time to play small. Put power behind your desires and ask for more. The only thing standing in your way, is you! Horoscopes for 2018 are coming! Creative RitualCreate A Life of Thriving With These Five Steps: Step #1 Write a list of all the things you are grateful for. List the people, experiences and parts of your life that truly make you feel glad to be alive. Are you grateful for your health? Your children? Your garden? Your amazing clients? Put it on the list! Step #2 As you look at your gratitude list, pause and be still. Where do you feel the sensation of gratitude in your body? Can you feel it rising up from your belly or spreading across your chest? Try to locate the sensation and clearly identify it. Use this physical body feeling as a tuning fork. Keep coming back to this sensation as a way to touch in with the feeling of thriving and nourishment. More of that please! This is what you want to create more of in your life! Step #3 Create an image of this feeling of gratitude and the sensation of nourishment it brings into your body. Use craypas, paints, collage, pen and ink or any other medium that inspires you. Use colors, textures and shapes to create your image. Take 20+ minutes to create your image then give it a title. Step #4 Move your image. Use your image to inspire a movement exploration. Let your body move in response to your nourishment image with an intention of "moving with your feelings of nourishment". What sensations emerge for you during your dance? What awareness? Allow 5 to 10 minutes for this movement exploration. Step #5 Harvest in your journal some of your key findings from this process. Answer these statements: I sense___ I feel____ I imagine____ Bonus Step: Pick a few people to share your gratitude with. The best way to amplify this feeling is to share it with others! Use post it notes for a quick thank you or get more elaborate and write out a love note to someone special. Write a sweet message of gratitude to your child or give your neighbor a friendly mailbox surprise. JOIN ME and the Moon Tribe for 7 Days of Gratitude. Every week I offer two *free* dharma coaching sessions to action takers who are ready for deep life change. Is this you?! Send me a message to see if I have any openings: swatijrjyotish@gmail.com As the Moon becomes dark and empty this month, themes of uprooting, untangling and destruction arrive. Just days before the new Moon, Sun shifts into his month long transit through Sagittarius. The December new Moon brings a collision of Moon, Saturn and Sun- all in Sagittarius and Mula nakshatra. The process of uprooting will be happening on multiple levels- including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Radical release is taking place and will require as much grounding as possible in order to navigate the chaos and change process. Stay close to the body. The new Moon occurs on December 17th just before midnight Mountain time. At 23:31 MT, Moon is completely empty and Sun, Moon and Saturn conjoin in the domain of the dark goddess, Nirrti. The constellation of Mula is synonymous with change and transformation. Uprooting on the psycho-emotional level will take place as Moon, Sun and Saturn shift through this notorious gandanta (gap). Ruling deity of this portion of the sky is Nirrti, who brings calamity, misfortune and chaos in her wake. As a result of these challenges, deep healing, insights and wisdom can occur. But without diligence, the chaos and adharma (that which goes against dharma) can also keep one from finding their way back to the path. This is an extremely fragile cycle. Do not take unnecessary risks in the coming days. This coming cycle destroys and uproots the parts of you that are disempowered. Seek truth, purpose and dharma above all. These are the sources of light that will help shine the light on your path. Seek your light source and tirelessly move closer to your shadow, the parts of you refusing to awaken. Crack open your ego. fearlessly lean into your inner masculine, and look closely at your fear. Why are you resisting your vulnerability, your heart and emotions? This is a time of immense healing, but it requires strength, willingness and courage to make strides. Pull the weeds from your garden. What is choking the life out of you? What is clogging your channels of nourishment and life force? What is keeping you playing small and pretending to be insignificant? Your power is immense. Let the strength and wisdom of your heart lead the way. Unpack the dynamics within your relationships and let them mirror to you what you need the most. Listen to your gut and let it share its wisdom with you. What are your deepest needs for nourishment? Ask the ancestors for support. As you attend to this powerful release process, intentionally create space for the new. What are you making space for in your life? What needs to be healed or released before you can fully receive these needs? Read more: Six Ways to Feed the Ancestors Creative Ritual The gut, or solar plexus, is the seat of power and connects us to the masculine, power and by default the fifth house of the jyotish chart, as well as the sign of Leo. The metaphors for gut have to do with digestion and assimilation as well as elimination. What are you digesting and assimilating? How effectively do you eliminate and release what you no longer need, what is no longer nourishing you? We use this process of digestion in our lives on multiple levels; with our assimilation of environment, our internal/external landscapes, with words, ideas and life's experiences. The gut is connected to intuition, our "gut responses". Stomach problems are associated with "the inability to process and assimilate impressions received from our outer environment. Our ability to eliminate, or how we eliminate, is connected with the abdomen. In Eastern traditions, the belly is considered the center of the body, and the place form which a state of balance emanates. The abdomen acts as a transit area between the upper and lower areas of our body." -The Expressive Body in Life, Art and Therapy by Daria Halprin. 1) Use movements such as "cat and cow" and gentle spinal twists to activate the gut. Notice if your breaths are going all the way to the base of the stomach, or stopping short. Lie on your back and place your hands on your belly. Feel the gentle undulations of its rise and fall with each breath. Gently knead your gut with your fingers. Notice any sore spots or lumps? Move around the navel in a circular pattern. Stop and let your body relax and respond to the touch of your hands on your belly. Move and connect with your stomach for 10-20 min. 2) As you complete your movement exploration, pause and check. What do you notice in your belly? What sensations and feelings arrive? Notice if any images, colors or shapes are present within. If your belly could share a message with you, what would it say? 3) Come to your drawing pad. Draw an image your belly. What feelings and images were invoked during your body part exploration? Let your image express these feelings and sensations. Spend 10-20 minutes on your image. Give your image a title then answer these questions: If your image could speak to you, what would it say? What am I releasing? What am feeding myself with? I am on a mission to help sensitive souls connect with their inner truth and inner wisdom. To connect with purpose and dharma. Moon is transiting its mulitrikona degrees in Taurus and the creative star, Rohini at the time of fullness. Taurus supports the Moon with grounding, creativity and themes of nourishment. Rohini is extremely creative and brings desires into manifest form. The coming waning cycle requires deep release and uprooting in order to make space for the new. What are you wanting in your life that has not yet arrived? What space do you need to create in order to make room for the newness? Both Ketu and Mars give their gaze to the tender and sensitive Moon- which represents the Emotional Body. Expect sudden emotional release in the coming weeks- especially anger, rage and passion. The Moon will be extra fragile and sensitive to trauma. The emotional body is thawing out, releasing past trauma and numbness. Pay attention to your emotional sensitivity. Use clear boundaries, express your needs, release emotions carefully and don't let your feelings get bottled up. This cycle brings a powerful uprooting in the psycho-emotional body that also impacts the physical body directly. Grief is being released in a variety of ways and through a variety of emotions. It needs to be released from the body so support this process. Remember that this release is creating space for the new. You must make room for the nourishment that you seek. Where are you stuck, frozen or numbing your emotional body? Where are you feeling disconnected from your body and its wisdom? Support the release of emotions through art, music, song, dance and writing. Of the holy trinity of gods in the Vedas, Lord Brahma is the Creator. Because of him, visions, dreams and desires become manifest form. Lord Brahma (and his wife goddess Saraswati by default) are the ruling energies of Rohini nakshatra. Lord Brahma created the universe and it sprung forth from his naval. Thus Rohini is immensely creative and skilled at manifesting. Goddess Saraswati rules over the arts, wisdom, music and technology and brings her influence to this nakshatra as well. This constellation supports desires coming into fruition, as well as increases resources and creativity. Clarify your desires and take action steps to bring them into fruition. Use the coming weeks to create. Set big goals for the months ahead. Start moving towards your desires now. Use the arts to inspire creativity and life force energy. Move towards nourishment and identify where you are resisting your needs for more money, vitality, life force energy, passion and purpose. Are you moving closer to your goals and desires, or further away from them? Are you aligning with your inner wisdom or choosing adharma- going against your dharmic path and purpose?
