Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
5.22 Moon transits Libra in Chitra nakshatra until 17:05 CDT when it moves to Swati nakshatra. Chitra is ruled by Vishvakarma, the divine architect. Today is about subtle expansion, utilizing creativity, and proper orchestration based on the planetary positions effecting us right now. Later today, as Moon moves to Swati, Vayu will gear up for movement, force and change- expect mental fluctuations and give your self room for flexibility. Moon is in its bright half (waxing) in the 13th tithi which is ruled by Jupiter. Chitra nakshatra is ruled by Mars. As a result, both Mars and Jupiter's influence is heightened today. Both are Sandhi (in the gap) and moving to new houses. The feeling for these planets is "packing up past belongings and feeling unsettled". They are in the netherworlds. Mars moves to Taurus today at 22:11 CDT (Jupiter will move to Gemini on the 30th). Lethargy and apathy abounds. When Moon moves to Swati nakshatra later in the day, Rahu's influence will be heightened as it rules this nakshatra. As Moon transits Libra for several days, it is in conjunction with Saturn and Rahu. Saturn is still retrograde and sitting in its position of exaltation, thus rendering it debilitated. We are still in clean up mode as a result- Saturn bringing us into direct contact with our "core" issues. Revisit my Saturn/Rahu articles for a reminder on what our work is right now. [Links below]. Today is one of those days where frustrations, disappointments, complexities, overwhelm and disturbances play their part in our mental/emotional bodies. If you can lay low, do it. If you must blow with the winds of Vayu, bring a parachute and try to coast towards Earth. Take it as it comes and chalk this one up to house cleaning. The best use of your efforts is using creative expression to move the emotions- dance, sing, paint, create with your hands, move the stories. http://www.swatijrjyotish.com/1/post/2013/02/february-26th-2013.html

Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
05.07.13 Moon transiting Pisces in Revati nakshatra until 17:36 CDT when it moves into Aries and Ashwini nakshatra- joining Mercury, Ketu, Mars and Sun. Revati nakshatra is ruled over by Pushan, the deity of safe travels and nourishment. He tends the flock and finds the strays, those that are lost, and brings them back. There is a sense of family and tribe here since the flock represents our first chakra needs. Pushan protects and also can help us locate hidden treasure. Since Revati is ruled by the planet Mercury, but Tuesday is the day of Mars, we are working with these two energies today. Look to the mind and intuition today and notice your response. Mercury and Mars are in very close degrees right now and neither get along too well with each other. Mars is action, Mercury is thought and introspection. There is a tendency to over do it as a result. This dynamic can bring a tussle between heart and mind, taking effective action steps, effective communication and so on. Be a gentle spirit today and go for nourishment. Pushan will be guiding and nudging you towards the safest, surest path. Trust his guidance and support, which may require the utmost surrender. Let Pushan bring the mind back to center, to focus. Let him prod you gently forward. When Moon moves to Ashwini, the focus will shift. The surrender, the insight and the healing will kick in. Your job is to be receptive. Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
04.10.13 The new moon occurred in the wee hours of the morning in Revati nakshatra as Sun, Mars, and Venus were all simultaneously in Revati as well. (Read more about the significance of this and the metaphors of this week in the attached article). Moon is now waxing (bright half) yet still very young and expressing her silence. Moon and Venus have now entered Aries and are sitting with Ketu- they have crossed the delicate gap between Pisces and Aries, though are still Sandhi (weak in degrees, vulnerable, in the nether-realms). Both Venus and Moon are now transiting Ashwini nakshatra as well. Ruled by Ketu, Ashwini's ruling deity is Asvini Kumara, the Asvin Twins, who are connected to healing and rejuvenating. The Asvin Twins have magical healing abilities, and are particularly connected to the Rasayana branch of Ayurveda. The symbol here is a horse- connecting this nakshatra to the strength of the horse, but also alludes to the senses. In the Vedic texts we are said to be ruled by our five senses, or five horses. "Good horsemanship" is essential for our proper evolution and spiritual progress. Asvini is also connected to transportation (horses were once the primary method of travel) as well as medicine, the healing arts, creativity, art and music. Use this time for healing and rejuvenation through the arts, creativity, love, restorative practices, herbs and proper diet and routine. Imbibe the essence and experience of rasayana. Mars and Sun are sandhi as well and will be in Aries by the end of the week. Mercury has moved to Pisces (is also sandhi) and now transiting its debilitation sign. This is a delicate time with four planets vulnerable, in weak degrees. The veil is very thin right now with the astral realms. Use this time to connect with the ancestors, meditate, connect with Source and your higher Self. Be delicate with your Self and others. Use this time for spiritual growth and practice. Tomorrow is the first day of Navaratri. Transiting the Gap: Pisces to Aries + the Power of Navaratri
This is a particularly powerful week. By Saturday the 13th, four planets will have moved to Aries, and they will all be sitting with Ketu. The moon kicks off the momentum Monday crossing Sun, Mars and Venus in Pisces and then into Aries on Wednesday the 10th, just on the tail of Venus crossing over into Aries as well. Mars moves to Aries (it’s own sign) on Friday and then Sun to Aries on Saturday (its place of exaltation). This will bring a lot of heat, passion and creativity to Aries, and add the complexity and fire of Ketu into the mix, and there’s bound to be some changes, excitement, heat and combustion, explosions and unknowns as well. The week ends with Moon going exalted in Taurus on Sunday, in the passionate and sattvic (pure) nakshatra, Rohini. So what does all of this momentum mean and why is this particular change of signs so intense? For the last several weeks, we have had a lot of energy in Pisces with Mars, Sun and Venus transiting the last sign of the zodiac. There is a nod to the twelfth house with Pisces, and all things related to it. Endings, solitude, foreign travel, losses, ashrams, bed pleasures, marriage and more. The Pisces energy is related to water, temples, caves, fish, movement and cleansing as well as the aforementioned twelfth house matters. We have been experiencing this energy in our relationships, business and work experiences, spiritual pursuits and ancestral connections among other things. This junction from Pisces to Aries is particularly challenging and poignant. As with any ending, a beginning presents it self. So with the endings of Pisces/twelfth house matters, we can expect some shredding and discarding, letting go along with it. Passing from Pisces to Aries is a challenging path because Pisces is water and Aries is fire, and as we know, fire and water don’t mix well. Symbolically, we could literally say that the fire is going out, getting washed out and extinguished, with some of our pursuits over the course of this passage. What remains after the flood will be pieces that we can use to build on and with. Consider them your clues. These scraps that remain will be what we use for this next cycle around the zodiac, so pay particular attention to what is being left and let go of, and what is here to stay (for now). There’s another catch though: Ketu. By the end of this week, Venus, Mars and Sun will have crossed this tricky junction and have made it into Aries, only to sit for the next few weeks with Ketu, the moksha planet. Ketu always throws us a few curve balls, because he cuts away our attachments (we could call his work on us, our ‘refinement’). So even though some of our “belongings” safely make it across the treacherous threshold of endings (Pisces/water) into beginnings (Aries/fire), we then must contend with Ketu’s shenanigans. What remains with us after this transit through Aries will be a better indication of what materials we are working with for the next cycle through the zodiac. So the next month will be yet another of change, endings, and transformations. The fact that Ketu is currently in Bharani nakshatra is an indication that we will be working directly with Yama, lord of death and dharma. Yama is restriction, restraint, the enforcer of rules. Bharani brings clarity and purification with him and extreme sensitivity, as the symbol for Bharani is the Yoni. Ruled by Venus, Bharani will also be bringing relationships, passion, creativity and abundance into focus. Expect further clarity, cutting, severing ties and success with destruction and the removal of anything that does not serve you. Be sensitive to what needs to be let go. Suffering comes when we cling to, or hold on too tightly to our attachments. Use this time for spring cleaning on all levels of your life- emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. By letting go of the old, we create space for the new and the new that more closely aligns with our higher vibrations. While in Aries, Venus, Sun and Mars will be receiving a direct aspect from both Rahu and retrograde Saturn (read more about this combination via my previous articles). Simultaneously, we will have a debilitated and weak Mercury in Pisces as of the 9th. This may increase issues with communication, mental confusion, slow thinking and processing as well as business and finances. Adding further intensity to this week and what it symbolizes, Navaratri begins on Thursday the 11th, just after the new moon in Pisces on the 10th (yet another symbolic layer of this particular time we are in). Navaratri is the celebration of the Divine Feminine as it is expressed through the goddesses Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati. This nine day celebration takes place in the fall and in the spring, during the seasonal junction times, or sandhi (gap) times. These particular nine days in the Vedic calendar indicate when the Laws of Nature are most alive and awakened and can be utilized most profoundly. In the fall, these goddess energies are helping Nature (this includes us) to transition into the winter of life- rest, silence, endings, transformations. In the spring, their energy is moving us into a phase of enlivening, awakening, and the transformations that come with this increase in energy. The first three days of Navaratri are connected with Durga and associated with clearing and cutting that which is not serving us (perfectly aligned with the planetary transits indeed!) The next three days Lakshmi is enlivened. Once we have cleared and cleansed with Durga, we are prepared for the soothing and nurturing, the abundance and thriving of Lakshmi. The final three days of celebration are associated with goddess Saraswati who brings her guidance, abundant knowledge, wisdom and creativity to us. We are then prepared for her gifts of insights, illumination and enlightenment. The day after Navaratri is Lord Rama’s birthday, Sri Ram Navami, and seals the power gained over the previous nine days with gifts from the King. This is a particularly potent and powerful week. We have multiple planets transiting a very challenging gap and bound for transformation, coupled with a new moon and an exalted moon. Additionally, we begin Navaratri and align with Durga’s energy of fierce, cutting and healing forces. Moon will be exalted on Sunday the 14th in Rohini nakshatra on the first day of Lakshmi, so expect an intense swell of love, passion, compassion and creativity to move through you. Surrender to the intensity and power of this week and let your own subtle awareness be present. Dedicate time for your practice and be diligent with rest, meditation, movement practices, mantras and altar offerings. Using this sacred time for listening, carving out space for being in silence, and aligning with its sacred potential, will increase the guidance you receive. Use this week for transformations and use it as momentum for your new year ahead. Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
03. 04. 13 Moon transits Anuradha nakshatra, debilitated in Scorpio. Ruled by Mitra, who loves friendship and fine detail. Mitra is a form of the Sun who relates to friendship and companionship- allies. He helps us when we need assistance and gives us a leg up with our connections in order to help us find success. Mitra does detail work, is always changing and renewing himself, and likes change in scenery. Customer service is natural with Mitra as well as connecting people and connecting with the right people. You may find connecting easy to do today, or you may find your self needing alone time and needing rest. You may also find your interactions prove themselves challenging or heated. Retrograde Mercury moves to Satabisha nakshatra in Aquarius. Mitra and Varuna (who rules Satabisha nakshatra) are the yin and yang of the Sun. Anuradha rules over the day, while Varuna, the night. Mitra protects, while Varuna looks over his shoulder. This current dynamic will stir the mind up. Make you question and negotiate the feelings of your heart. Your mind may talk you out of deep connection. Talk your self out of the mind. Mars sandhi (in the gap and in weak degrees) moves into Pisces. Mars is aspecting Saturn and Rahu in Libra and also Gemini, whose ruler, Mercury, is retrograde. Mercury is conjunct Sun and Venus in Aquarius (ruled by Saturn). There will be some returns, via relationship and otherwise. Some cleanup via the mental and through communication. This month, expect some old situations with people to return and some things that were said to be replaced, restored, finalized, etc. Endings happen. Endings bring new beginnings. |
