Moon is waning until Thursday. New Moon is on Friday in the early morning hours- in Gemini and Ardra nakshatra.
Monday, June 23rd Moon transits Aries and moves from Bharani to Krittika nakshatra at 12:30 CDT, enlivening the Sun and Agni- the fire of life. Internal and external flames intensify, heat and passion, anger and aggression are fanned. These energies are heightened as a result of Mars's direct gaze 8 houses away. With Sun now in Ardra nakshatra in close proximity to retrograde Mercury, the mind is likely to have an edge to it. Have you noticed? Or are you blaming it on everyone else? Is the past haunting you? Moon will be sandhi the majority of the afternoon, moving to the edge of Aries. It jumps into Taurus at 18:48 CDT, assuming its position and degrees of exaltation. A rare example of how sandhi degrees (when a planet is in the gap between signs) can actually be a strong placement. Read more about sandhi in my recent article: Living in Limbo. Moon joins Venus in Taurus, who is nicely placed in its own sign right now. Moon is friendly to everyone, however, Venus isn't fond of the Moon. These two, however, are out of the gaze of the other planets right now so this will allow them to share and shine. Look for some strong waves of creativity, inner flow and fluidity, movement and grace. Dance, sing, make art. Let your creative acts stoke your inner flames tonight. Watch how you relate to others and don't lash out. Instead, use your emotions to deepen your inner relationship. Tuesday, June 24th Moon is exalted and in Krittika nakshatra enlivening the Sun and Agni. Heat and fire rule the first half of the day. Work with themes of cutting, clearing, purification and transformation. Just after midday, Moon moves into Rohini nakshatra at 13:48 CDT, having crossed over Venus by this point. In this position, Moon moves from exaltation into mulitrikona, but is still a strong placement for it, out of the gaze of other planets. Our creativity is intensified. Are ideas percolating and gathering steam? Keep a piece of paper and a pen near by and have your journal handy for doodles, sketches and list making. Take your sketches into dancing, let your dancing become paintings. Move, flow, and let the creativity move you and be moved by you. Sing, communicate, share, connect. Wednesday, June 25th The first half of the day, Moon continues through Rohini nakshatra. The creative suggestions from yesterday still apply. Keep a piece of paper and a pen near by and have your journal handy for doodles, sketches and list making. Take your sketches into dancing, let your dancing become paintings. Move, flow, and let the creativity move you and be moved by you. Sing, communicate, share, connect. As Moon moves into Mrigashirsha nakshatra at 15:28 CDT, instant change occurs. The pace of the deer and its swiftness carries us into action, movement and momentum. Can you feel the shift take place within you? Think in terms of action steps. Soma and Mars are enlivened with this nakshatra, life giving qualities surface and offer their sustenance. What life giving nourishment can you move towards? Pay attention for the messages maybe strong or they may be subtle. Thursday, June 26th Moon crosses into Gemini in the early hours of the morning at 04:26 am CDT, though still in Mrigashirsha nakshatra. It joins retrograde Mercury in this nakshatra and Sun in Ardra nakshatra. These three planets receive gaze from Rahu nine houses away, intensifying the mental/emotional edge and our shadow issues. Moon crosses directly over Mercury around 7:30 am CDT which will likely intensify the mental body tussle with the emotions. Make your daily to-do list over breakfast and if you can start your day with a more gentle approach, do it. Try meditation, gentle yoga, a quiet walk outdoors. This is a good day to count to ten before speaking and to get plenty of fresh air and physical movement. Get out of the head and into the body! Ready to take action? Join me for my final Cosmic Creative Self workshop today where we explore Mars and action steps. Venus moves into Rohini nakshatra at 17:08 CDT. Expect creativity to be flowing in the coming weeks! Get out your paints, dance, draw, sing, write. Share your work with others. Be nourished by your creativity and let others nourish you with theirs. This placement of Venus may help our sense of security and thriving. Let the abundance flow towards you and through you. Moon moves to Ardra nakshatra at 17:29 CDT as it nears the Sun. Emotions intensify with Rudra and Rahu heightened here, so watch yourself and don't let the mind get away with its usual shenanigans. Inner tracking will be important to avoid overwhelm. At this time, Moon is already well into the 15th tithi, the final phase of its waning cycle. Do a three level check in for greater awareness. Friday, June 27th Moon transits Gemini with retrograde Mercury and Sun. All receive drishti from a very sandhi Rahu. New Moon is at 3:08 am CDT while in Gemini and Ardra nakshatra. Ruled by Rudra and Rahu, Ardra nakshatra brings with it a certain intensity- whether through the emotions or through physical movement and change; think forcefulness. Rudra is connected to storms, storm energy, as well as prana as he is the father of the Maruts, or inner winds. Externally he manifests as a storm god; internally he manifests as the five types of Prana within the body. Harnessing the winds can be powerful for inner change or outer change. His association with anger and intense emotion is an example of his abilities with power. Anger after all is extremely powerful and is a form of passion and strength. How will you use this strength? This New Moon is not the silent, soft and quiet kind. For there is immense power available to us at this time. It is quiet and inward as any empty new Moon is, yet be mindful of the power available within this silence. What are you creating? Cultivating? And inviting in at this time? What is your relationship to the inner and outer winds? Start your day off with meditation, pranayama and yoga. Get the inner prana moving and in this new waxing cycle upon us, attend to the needs of the inner winds. Emotional well being is intimately related to physical well being. Use this coming cycle to attend to your inner dynamics. Work with emotions directly and note where the challenges arrive. Are you attending to your needs? Letting the mind run the show? Bypassing the emotions? Does the body have a message for you that you have been neglecting to listen to? Listen closely for clues and your inner wisdom. Do a three level check in for greater awareness. Moon moves to Punarvasu nakshatra at 19:49 CDT, enlivening Jupiter and Aditi energy. Saturday, June 28th Mars moves from Hasta nakshatra into Chitra nakshatra at 6:36 am CDT. Mars and Rahu are nearing each other as we prepare for their exact conjunction in the coming weeks. This is a very intense and charged time so be mindful of these energetics in general with regard to your Self, life and relationships. Mars will be in Chitra for roughly a month (through the end of July). This nakshatra is ruled by Mars (heat, passion, aggression, action) and the deity Vishvakarma. He is the "cosmic architect" who loves to create, build, plan and orchestrate. The action oriented association to the planet Mars (both within the nakshatra and by Mars's transit through Chitra) insures that foundations will be laid, steps will be taken and changes will be amplified. Par for the course as we look at the grande planetary shifts happening right now and in the coming weeks! Change is here! Moon transits Gemini with retrograde Mercury, and Sun and is in Punarvasu nakshatra. Aditi, mother of all goodness and unity is enlivened as well as the planet Jupiter. Perhaps you can feel the expansion and a greater smoothness enter your mind as a result of the Moon's shift. As it nears the gap midday, the softness heightens and offers an opening to us. What is coming through the portal for you? Jupiter is a sign away, exalted in Cancer, and can offer some awareness. Are you inviting it in yet? Are you in Houston? Join me at Bayou Bliss Yoga for my Jupiter workshop. Need a virtual workshop instead? Join me for my final Cosmic Creative Self workshop online tomorrow instead. Moon moves into Cancer, its own sign, joining exalted Jupiter there at 15:45 CDT. Both receive drishti from retrograde Saturn in this position. Jupiter has gained strength at this point and is now over the two degree mark which helps our sense of stability, expansion and wisdom. Jupiter and Moon basque in each others radiance as Moon crosses over him. They both offer a gentle awareness to us through heart, emotions, and expanded wisdom. Let it flow. Look for sweet balms of the heart and emotions today. What soothes, nurtures and flows toward you? Feeling restricted and collapsed? This can be from Saturn's gaze. Be easy with the opening. You don't have to force it. Just be willing to invite in, expand and grow. Moon moves into Pushya nakshatra at 22:26 CDT. Sunday, June 29th Moon transits its own sign of Cancer and Pushya nakshatra with exalted Jupiter. Both receive drishti from retrograde Saturn in this position. Jupiter has gained strength at this point and is over the two degree mark which helps our sense of stability, expansion and wisdom. Pushya provides nourishment from Brihaspati (a personified Jupiter) and the planet Saturn. The symbol is the udder of a cow, who offers nourishment to her calf. This is the nourishment palpable with Pushya nakshatra. What is flowing towards you? Away from you? What are you inviting in? Where is the flow being obstructed? Our nourishment and sense of nourishment is directly connected to how able we are to receive. This is a vulnerable position, unlike the position of giving, which is the power position. Today, think in terms of balancing both the give and receive and notice how vital they are to each other. They are truly interrelated functions required for getting our needs met from life, relationships and our environment. Using the metaphor of inhale and exhale, the dance of the life force can be a potent tool of awareness. Use my Jupiter expand/contract workshop for more insights. Ready to take action? Did you catch my Exalted Jupiter article, part 1? Find it here. The hype around Jupiter's transit is growing. There is much buzz, as there should be. Jupiter, the planet of abundance, wisdom, expansion and teaching is moving to its favorite sign, Cancer, for the next twelve months. Many are declaring this is a powerful and positive year for all. And while I agree that the trend and overall feeling of this transit will be expansive, I temper my predictions. The benevolence of Jupiter is well known, but he's not a lovely supportive gentleman to everyone, and we must contend with the other transits effecting him simultaneously. It will in fact be a mixed bag, a year with some ups and downs as always. What the planets and their ever changing dance reminds us is that nothing in life is all good, nor all bad. There's always a bit of both. This is the universe maintaining its balance and giving us ample opportunity for personal growth. When we expand too much, we must counter this with contracting. When we contract too much, we must learn to expand more. This dance of open and close is wrapped up in the nature of Cancer, fourth house matters, the heart and breath- our life force. As Jupiter, the expansive planet, moves into Cancer, he offers us an opportunity to experience an increase in this expansive quality, whether it's with heart, emotions, home matters, breath or other fourth house, Cancer related issues. In other words, it will be an expansive year emotionally and it can offer more comfort and nourishment to many of us. It will also teaching quite clearly about our emotions and how to dance with them more effectively. This expansive energy is tempered at times by aspects from Saturn (the planet of contraction, of slow growth, of grief and suffering). This aspect from Saturn asks us to cultivate a new relationship with our sense of balance, to find a new set-point for ourselves. Saturn, for better or for worse, always has our best interests in mind, even if it doesn't feel like it. If we pay attention to his ways, we can flow more smoothly in our lives. He will be protecting us from expanding too quickly or too much, so pay attention. Saturn is timing and timing is everything. Jupiter moves into Cancer on June 18th, 2014 at 20:23 CDT. It will take a little over 12 months for him to move through this Cancer; he moves to Leo on July 13th of 2015. While in Cancer, Jupiter will experience openings and closings, forward motion and backward motion, and move through three different nakshatras. These will of course be occurring with other planetary transits going on and will interact with our own unique charts in a variety of ways. Here's the breakdown: When Jupiter moves to Cancer on June 18th, he receives gaze (drishti) from a retrograde Saturn still transiting its sign of exaltation, Libra (in the Jaimini jyotish system, Saturn is considered debilitated as a result). Here in Cancer, Jupiter will still be in Punarvasu nakshatra, ruled by Aditi, the mother of all goodness, who provides us with an understanding of unification and universal awareness. This nakshatra is also ruled by the planet Jupiter, so we get the sense of expansion here. And yet a weak Saturn is giving his scrutiny and watchful gaze to Jupiter as he moves into his "happy place". The result? We may not be feeling as joyful and expansive as we would like. We will likely be re-tracing foundational steps still. Steps that are less about fun and opening to the "new" and more about what we "should" be doing, what is asked of us, and what our relationships are asking of us. This brings some guaranteed pressures and frustrations that will be the impetus for greater changes in the coming months. On 7.04.14, Jupiter moves to Pushya nakshatra. This is where we really begin to explore the dynamics of expand/contract. (Use my Exalted Jupiter workshop in order to learn more about this dynamic). Pushya is ruled by both Brihaspati (another name for Jupiter, personified) and the planet Saturn. He is connected to nourishment and support, knowledge and wisdom so expect this to be a turning point in your Exalted Jupiter transit experience. However, Jupiter will still be receiving drishti from a compromised Saturn at this time, yet the pressure from Saturn's gaze lightens and gets more forward momentum once Saturn goes direct on 7.20. His watchful gaze is present nonetheless, but we may begin to feel more hope for the future, more possibility and a greater sense of purpose when Saturn goes direct. Rahu and Ketu Change Signs Another lift might be felt as a result of Rahu and Ketu changing into Virgo and Pisces respectively on July 12th. Rahu getting out of Saturn's way, and out of Libra altogether, will lesson pressure, intensity and the stormy weather syndrome that has been plaguing so many of us as a result of the intense Rudra energy. Look for my Rahu/Ketu article coming out soon. From these new placements of Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu, new gazes are given. Jupiter will gaze at Ketu and Ketu will gaze back to him (though technically Ketu can not give drishti because he has no head, I have found Ketu's influence of gaze to give substantial effects). Ketu is a "planet" of moksha, liberation, cutting our attachments and asking us to let go of what we are holding on to. Jupiter is a planet of wisdom, the guru, or teacher, and asks us to expand our ideas and he pushes us towards growth. Jupiter will be giving his gaze to Ketu in Pisces, a sign that he rules, so we will be letting go, finding endings and cutting chords with wisdom and growth in mind. Letting go of relationships, and our attachments to them, will be a central theme. Many of us may feel like we have awoken from a great slumber during the coming months as we suddenly realize where we are overly attached, clinging, not clear with boundaries and needs, and possibly giving too much to others while neglecting ourselves. There is nourishment here, but we must work to get the comfort and support. Ketu strips away the veils of our illusion, but at least Jupiter's gaze insures that we can receive some awareness (and some level of comfort in that awareness) as a result. When Jupiter moves to Ashlesha nakshatra on 9.03, our serpent energy is enlivened as well as the planet Mercury. Mercury will be exalted in Virgo at this time and Rahu will be there as well. Some may feel mental confusion and overwhelm during the greater part of September, others will benefit from monetary wealth and support as well as a bit more notoriety. We all may be feeling some or all of these things. Tending to the mental body at this time will be paramount as it will likely be out of control and imbalanced. Saturn Moves to Scorpio As Saturn moves into Scorpio on 11.02, his drishti on Jupiter ends and the roles reverse; Jupiter gets to give his gaze to Saturn now. Finally, we may begin to take a long, deep breath, expand and grow with more leaps and bounds. A sense of opening may be felt, some new shift and guaranteed changes are here for each of us. The movement of Saturn into Scorpio is a powerful transit in and of itself, and will carry with it a deeply transformational current of change. Change that come from our depths; a new structure that removes our masks, our shadows, our vulnerabilities. Scorpio is the ultimate sign known for darkness, depth, mystery and deaths of all kind. You can read more about Scorpio and the 8th house in my How to Love a Scorpio article. Scorpio, however, is the sign that Moon is debilitated in and so we must realize that part of the structure, or construction/deconstruction, taking place for the 2.5 years of this next transit, will be centered around the emotions. Since Jupiter will be transiting the seat of emotions (Cancer), expect emotional work to be enlivened for the rest of the Jupiter transit as a result of Saturn's new home. This is perhaps where our greatest emotional work of this cycle really begins and intensifies. But before you bristle, remember that Jupiter is guiding us with wisdom and support. We will get our needs met if we are truly open and receptive to it. Jupiter Goes Retrograde The openings felt in November take a turn in December. The inner emotional changes intensify as Jupiter begins his retrograde dance on 12.08. In the Jaimini system of Jyotish, an exalted planet in retrograde motion is considered debilitated and weakened. It is acting like a node (Rahu and Ketu) in its expression. Only the nodes move in reverse all the time- against the grain of the other planets. In this period from 12.08.14 to 4.08.15, we will be asked to go over old territory, old ground, re-trace old steps and patterns, find new ways of emoting, expressing and working with our hearts. The retrograde cycles always give us an opportunity to catch what we've been missing, check in for deeper inquiry, and to strengthen our ability to make more lasting changes within our behaviors. These "clean up" cycles are thus necessary and vital for greater, and more powerful, movement forward. A weakened, debilitated Jupiter, however, will have effects on our spirits. The expansion energy will be tested once again, but in a different way. Retrograde Jupiter will call upon us to re-evaluate our alignments, our desires, our push to expand. It is an opportunity to re-align with our core purpose, what drives us and aligns more holistically with our soul's calling. If you've let the expansion energy get the best of you, to override your inner wisdom, this will be the time of change you will need to re-center. This debilitation of Jupiter will come during winter, the silent season in the Northern Hemisphere, and can be a time of moving inward more consciously. The final three weeks of Jupiter's retrograde dance will include a retrograde Saturn simultaneously. Talk about a time of inner reflection and finding new ways of being, new patterns, and new structures within our existence! For most of us, this time period will ask us to do some very intense work on our physical and emotional bodies simultaneously. Staying grounded and getting embodied will be absolutely crucial. Make sure to check in with me for a virtual workshop at this time. Jupiter's retrograde dance will be entirely within Ashlesha nakshatra. As mentioned above, this enlivens serpent energy, Sarpa, as well as Mercury (mental body). We are guaranteed a powerful inner dance with the mental body during this time frame, one that helps us to actively and consciously work on our serpent energy- the pieces that are gripping us. Serpent energy can be connected to cravings, insatiable worldly appetites, illusions of all kinds, deceptions, and the trappings of Rahu. Sarpa can help us work on our addictions, our bad habits ingrained in our minds, and removal of toxicity. This may be a good cycle to get assistance from a shaman or healing modalities that can help remove demons. Use the debilitation of Jupiter to work diligently on the shadowed mind and mental body themes that are your defaults, your crutch. This will be a time where we get to re-work the mind and unravel some shadowed perceptions. Once Jupiter goes direct on 4.08, he finishes out his Cancer cycle in a forward moving fashion. The final three and half months of this year long transit are in Ashlesha nakshatra. The themes central to Sarpa, Mercury and the mental body carry us through to the end of Jupiter's exaltation. Overall, this Jupiter cycle through Cancer is about working through our emotional limitations. Are we resisting our emotional work? Bypassing the depth of our emotions? Keeping our heart closed or too open and vulnerable? What are we opening to and closing to? These universal themes will be enlivened for each of us in very unique ways depending on our natal charts and individual mythologies. Working with creativity, embodiment and healing modalities that offer a spectrum of guidance will be most effective. Seek out high levels of knowledge and wisdom this year, it will be ripe and ready to eat, and likely you will realize you are ravenous for it! Who is Jupiter and why does he matter? Jupiter (or guru in Sanskrit) is undeniably the most benefic planet. And though too much of a good thing is a real thing, most of us welcome his gracious behaviors at every turn. He is expansive, unlike Saturn who contracts. He wants peace, whereas Mars wants action and war. He brings knowledge and wisdom, learning from the scriptures, from teachers and from the grace of the guru. These are divine blessings indeed! Jupiter also relates to akasha (the space/ether element) and is therefore all-pervasive. He offers that level of expansion, the ever growing kind. The presence of Jupiter is peaceful, benevolent and he would rather win over his opponents with goodness, nonviolence and prayers, rather than fight, ruffle feathers or use violence of any kind. These are traits our society could use a lot more of these days. Fortunately for us, we will be seeing these blessings of Jupiter increase over the next twelve months as he moves to Cancer, his sign of exaltation, on June 18th. And since we haven't seen this transit occur in over twelve years (since 2003), we can each expect a unique boost in the coming months. (Jupiter's transits are roughly one year each and there are twelve signs in the zodiac, thus it takes twelve years for his full cycle around the zodiac). No matter the type of expansion and increase, for most of us, this will be of the delightful variety. Jupiter is of course connected to luck, grace, blessings, wealth as he is known for his generosity and giving. It is through sattva, purity, that Jupiter gives his blessings; all things pure like dharma, truth, and the light of pure knowledge. As devaguru (teacher to the gods) he guides us to the higher realms and empowers the positive tendencies of the mind. He has the ability to transform the asuras (demons) within us with his pure and persuasive wisdom. As the Mundaka Upanishads state so aptly, Satyameva Jayate, truth alone triumphs. What Can We Expect From Jupiter's Exaltation This Year? Each transit is very much an individual experience as each jyotish chart is a unique, highly complex organism (as expressed in each unique individual on the planet!) And though Jupiter's exaltation will effect us each in very different ways, there are some unified experiences that will be felt for us as a whole. It is important to note though that even something like expanding wisdom and knowledge, is not always comfortable- especially if it makes your old ways and habits obsolete and highly uncomfortable. For others, Jupiter's exaltation may provide too much support, and may cause issues as a result. We all know that even winning the lottery has multiple down sides and too much sugar rots your teeth and gut. Wherever Jupiter shows up there is increase and expansion. He encourages that growth as any good teacher would. If he sits with Venus, creativity and relationships tend to prove helpful and expansive. If he sits with Mercury, writing, mental growth and communication are given wisdom for increased success. Issues arise, however, when Jupiter sits with Rahu. Rahu, the north node/shadow planet and Mr. Mischief, ruins Jupiter's spiritual leanings and pristine tendencies. Rahu is chaos and deception whereas Jupiter is truth and honesty. Their energies oppose each other. Look at your chart to see what values might increase in the coming months for you based on what planets Jupiter is connected to in your natal chart. When looking at your own chart, first locate the sign of Cancer. This is where Jupiter will be effecting you the most intensely over the coming months. What house is Cancer in and do you have any natal planets there that will effect the transit as well? Will he be transiting your first house? Expect a spectrum of increased self wisdom, personal growth and people to notice this. Is he transiting your tenth house? He will offer extra support and expansion with your career whether you want it or not! And since all of us are working with the theme of balance right now as Saturn and Rahu transit Libra, the increases of exalted Jupiter will provide yet another opportunity for each of us to achieve some new sense of personal balance and harmony as a result of all the extra comfort, support, expansion etc. And that is indeed a good thing! Cancer is a sign of heart and emotion. It is connected to the fourth house and therefore is connected to all matters of the fourth house as well. This includes land, home, heart, mother, emotions, moksha, happiness, heart, lungs and the chest. When Jupiter exalts here he amplifies these parts of ourselves and can provide us with support in these areas. But because Jupiter is also Kapha, heavy, and connected to the lubrication within the body's channels, we also have to be mindful of the "too much of a good thing" reminder on a physical level as well. Too much dairy, can cause excess phlegm or excess kapha dosha. Too much fat can clog the arteries and channels that lead to the heart. Excess phlegm in the lungs can cause a chest cold or pneumonia. These are excesses to be aware of during this transit. It is interesting to note that the emotions and the heart play a predominant role in our health and well being. Since Cancer is also ruled by the Moon (Cancer is its own sign), many themes connected to emotional health and well being will be enlivened this year. With Jupiter in Cancer, we will each have an opportunity to grow emotionally, expand our heart and emotional capacity, and to find a new inner wisdom with the emotional body- if we choose to listen and expand in this direction. This is an exciting idea for moon-centered beings like myself! The overall experience of Jupiter is progressive, forward moving, expansive and supportive. There will be about four months where he retrogrades (an exalted planet in retrograde motion is considered debilitated) and this will be a time period of "emotional cleanup" we could say. Since all the major planets are moving this year, we are in for growth and change on multiple levels. Jupiter moves June 18th, followed by the shadow nodes, Rahu and Ketu July 12th. We still are working with an unusual dance of retrograde and direct Mars moving between Virgo and Libra until September. Finally, we will see perhaps the most major shift of all occur when Saturn moves to Scorpio November 2nd. The planets remind us that life is in constant flux and flow, and life changes are inevitable- which is why I'm offering Creative Ritual workshops to help us navigate the transits. My exalted Jupiter workshop is all about navigating our emotions and the physical correlations of this transit while using Jyotish insights to further our embodiment process. The 8th day of Navaratri, dedicated to goddess Saraswati. Moon is on the wax (Shukla Paksha) and the week begins with Moon in the 8th tithi at the end of Gemini and Punarvasu nakshatra. At 16:41 CDT Moon enters the auspicious ninth tithi (navami) while sandhi in Gemini, but moves to Moon's own sign of Cancer at 16:47 CDT (still in Punarvasu). In Cancer, Moon receives drishti from Saturn which offers a restrictive energy as well as one pointed focus. Punarvasu, however, gives expansion, clarity and a sense of wholeness from the deity Aditi "mother of all goodness". Look for both in the second half of your day- a fixed mode of expansion with a clear trajectory. Moon moves to Pushya nakshatra at 23:31 CDT. 4.8 Pushya nakshatra is ruled by Saturn and Brihaspati (another name for Jupiter) and offers nourishment, support, usually by providing us with knowledge and awareness. Today is the final day of Navaratri which culminates with the celebration of Lord Raam's birthday, Raam Navami. This is a potent and powerful day of activation. As the previous eight days of Navaratri provided a complete inner overhaul. First with the tilling of our internal soil through clearing and purging (Durga), then came nourishment and support for our seeds (desires) through Lakshmi's abundance, and then finally wisdom and clarity and a wealth of creativity has been offered through Saraswati so that our desires may blossom into a rich harvest in the days and months to come. Raam then provides the power and dynamism to take these silent gifts of the Divine Mother into action so that they may truly actualize. Historically, this is the day Lord Raam was born in Ayodhya and so we give honor and praise to his life and name as well. He was the seventh incarnation of Vishnu. Jai Ram!! 4.9 Moon moves to Ashlesha nakshatra in the wee hours of the morning. This is sarpa's nakshatra, ruled by Mercury. Sarpas are snakes, connected to Rahu (as opposed to the other type of snake, Nagas, which are connected to Ketu). Sarpas are sly and cunning, but offer insights and bring wisdom through their occult studies. Be mindful off illusion, deception and overconfidence today- which are attributes of both Sarpa and Rahu's nature. Currently Mercury is transiting Pisces (conjunct Sun) and transiting Uttarabhadrapada nakshatra which is ruled by Ahirbudhnya, a naga. The mental/emotional body is getting a chance for clarity today with a higher purpose. Get clear on what you need to do and trust your intuitive powers. 4.10 Moon moves to Leo and Magha nakshatra at 05:15 CDT. Magha is ruled by Ketu and Pitr, which relates to the ancestors, particularly the father's lineage. Karamas with power and authority arrive with this nakshatra. Moon receives drishti from Venus here, currently in Satabisha nakshatra. Do good work and uphold dharma, but avoid being overly critical to your Self and others. Works steadily today, but don't push too hard. Where are you overly connected to power and authority? 4.11 At 07:42 CDT Moon moves to Purvaphalguni nakshatra which is ruled by Bhaga and the planet Venus. It's Friday, day of Venus, so expect some fruiting and flowering- assisted by Bhaga of course, who rules relationships, harmony and sexuality. Jupiter's drishti to Venus helps the heart feel more expansive and relationships to feel a bit more harmonious. Though, Rahu's drishti to Venus as well can give too much of a good thing, or misjudgement. Listen closely. Does it feel good to your heart? Emotions? Do you feel supported and nourished? Are your needs being met? Look for warning signs and back up if necessary. Don't rush in too quickly. Sun becomes sandhi late in the evening. 4.12 Moon moves to the latter half of Phalguni, Uttaraphalguni nakshatra at 09:43 CDT which is in the final portion of Leo. Ruled by Sun and Aryaman, there is still a connection to relationships, however, he's more connected to lasting relationships than Bhaga is. Aryaman wants love, commitment and family life to be harmonious. With Sun sandhi in Pisces, in Revati nakshatra (ruled by Mercury), the "Self" needs may be weak today. Do what's best for group harmony today. Shine through communication, verbal affirmations and keep group dynamics in mind. Speak sweetly. Moon moves to Virgo at 16:09 CDT joining retrograde Mars there as well. Retrograde Mars moves back into Hasta nakshatra at 18:25 CDT. 4.13 Debilitated Mercury moves into Revati nakshatra at 10:33 CDT, ruled by Pushan who gives nourishment and safe journeys. Shortly thereafter, Moon moves to Hasta nakshatra joining Mars there at 11:13 CDT. The Moon and Mars conjunction brings heat to the emotions and there is a heightened tension with the mental body simultaneously as they are in a Mercury ruled sign (Virgo) receiving direct drishti from a sandhi Sun and debilitated Mercury. If tempers flair, it's probably due to pushing for too much, forcing an agenda that needs to be re-evaluated and having expectations that are too high. Today is calling for downsizing in a big way. As we near the Lunar Eclipse on the 15th (and Hanuman Jayanti), we need to have emotional/mental balance at the front of our needs list. Where can you do less and lower your expectations of your Self and others? Sun moves to Aries (its home of exaltation) for the next month at 20:42 CDT. This is a powerful placement and causes us to use our brute strength and the physical body to accomplish goals and agendas. But does the body comply? Do the mental and emotional bodies say yes as well? With the lunar eclipse and Full Moon arriving next week, we near the delicate two week period between eclipses (Annual solar eclipse on the 29th). This is a time to really be cognizant of working smarter, not harder. Though plenty of temptations will arise. More on all of this in next week's Planetary Transit + Horoscope Report. 1.15 Moon is in the 15th tithi, transiting Gemini and today (with Jupiter there), but moves into Cancer (its own sign) at 18:58 CST. Moon will be at its fullest point on 1.15 at 22:51 CST while in Cancer (Full Moon). It will have just entered Cancer and will be slightly sandhi (in the gap) in Punarvasu nakshatra. Punarvasu is ruled by Aditi, the universal mother of goodness and expansion of consciousness, as well as the planet Jupiter. In the coming weeks, expect some new assistance to be coming to you, helping with your overall expansion, fulfillment and desires for change. Aditi brings us nourishment, protection and abundance- the offerings of a kind and loving mother. Moon in Cancer will receive drishti from both Mercury and Sun in Capricorn as well as Saturn in Libra. Don't be overly critical. Surrender, let go, appease the critic and judgement as some worry may be illuminated. Trust that Aditi will provide. 1.16 Moon transits Cancer (its own sign) today and moves from Punarvasu nakshatra into Pushya nakshatra at 1:42 am CST. Pushya is a nourishing nakshatra that offers the knowledge and wisdom of Brihaspati (Jupiter) with the sustenance of "mother's milk" so to speak of the cow's udder. Brihaspati can overcome the negative asura (demon) behaviors and turn negative thoughts into positive ones- with a bit of effort as the planetary ruler of Pushya is Saturn. Perhaps the most noteworthy planetary change of this week comes today via Jupiter. He moves from Punarvasu nakshatra into Ardra today.
