For many this is a very challenging time. I want to remind you that we are still in between the eclipses, and nearing the Solar Eclipse on the 23rd. This solar eclipse occurs during Diwali, the celebration of light in the Vedic Calendar (more about this below). With four planets in Chitra nakshatra, Mars is really strongly activated right now. Our anger/agitation, critic/judge, sense of righteousness and inner fire may be aggravated. There is a natural piercing and cutting happening on multiple levels. The veils are thin- and if we are really paying attention we should be seeing our shadows, like never before. Pay attention, but don't necessarily respond or act until after the eclipse cycle has passed. Trust that your pieces will fall more naturally into place once the dust settles a bit. Until then, remember small action steps, embodiment, breath awareness and self care. Monday, October 20th Today’s Intention: Dance and paint your visions into reality. Moon moves into Uttaraphalguni, at 11:47 am CDT, inviting in Aryaman for our day, with an extra dash of Sun. Resources, creative and otherwise, are offered to us today. Stability, support and ancestral assistance arrives. This is a star that offers sustainability through relationships, partnerships and connections. It’s the work and effort we put into them that provides us with lasting nourishment. This is a time of asking for what you want and need. Be willing though to put in the necessary effort it takes for your efforts to be worth it. The work you do now, will pay off for you and your lineage in the future, so make your steps count. Continue working intentionally with your potent creativity. Creativity is your power, your stability in this life. It is our reason for life and living. Use your creativity to affirm and confirm what you want in your life and who you want in it. Let the arts serve as the tool for awakening your sleeping creative forces. Dance and paint your dreams into reality and capture the aliveness, the potency, the shakti, of your creative life force. Moon enters the 13th tithi (Moon phase) today, moving towards complete emptiness this week with the new Moon. Retrograde Mercury (now in its position of exaltation, Virgo) is closely conjunct Rahu, our shadows. Mind is being highly influenced by our shadows right now. With Ketu's direct aspect, expect the mental body to be cracked open. Let in the light and look for resources. As Moon hops into Virgo at 18:25 CDT, the mental body and emotional body intensify this dance- as well as our fragility. The major planetary shifts have passed now until Saturn moves into Scorpio on November 2nd (an article on this transit will be out later this week). For now, Libra continues to force our attention, asking us to confront our issues about balance, relationships and getting the support we need. Exalted Saturn is poised for change and in the gap now, sandhi at over 28 degrees. Debilitated Sun forces us to confront issues with ego and our sense of Self. While Venus in Libra (it's own sign) increases our ability to find more flow, possibility and resources for balance with these themes. Creativity (Venus's domain) is an essential resource for finding new possibilities and literally re-creating your life. Be intentional with your creative process right now. Tuesday, October 21st Today's Intention: Don't be afraid to be broken open. Light enters through our broken places. Moon transits Virgo, conjunct retrograde exalted Mercury. Retrograde planets intensify the indications of the planet, while a retrograde planet in its sign of exaltation becomes debilitated (uccha banga). This is a very interesting combination we are experiencing right now. As this delicate, debilitated mental body is confronting its shadows head on, we are likely to feel our shadows intensify with mind games included. Mercury and Rahu are in exact conjunction in the very wee hours of the morning. This may be a time where our mental turmoil is exacerbated as well as phobias, fears and psychic disturbances. As Moon joins this combination, we may be overwhelmed by emotional triggers as well. I can not overemphasize the need for embodiment at this time. Keep it small, affirming and gentle. Use a three level check in to name the issues coming up for you and try to separate the messages and needs of each body- mental, emotional and physical. This check in is a very concrete step to help us work directly with our internal "pause to check" system. I also suggest using some EFT (emotional freedom technique) to calm any increased fight or flight coming up for you at this time. Do not push yourself right now. Less is more. Moon moves into Hasta nakshatra at 14:10 CDT and Savitr offers a bit of light. This light may intensify the reflection coming towards us, or it may offer a glimmer of hope and possibility. Savitr brings insights and new realizations which may be stunners. The hands are a primary resource for this nakshatra. Use the hands to enliven the light and awareness available to you. This may be through creativity and the arts- working with clay, painting, etc. I suggest creating a dance and some body movement that begins with the hands. Use the hands as an entry point for your dance and let their function- grasping and releasing- be a metaphor for your life process. What are you grasping and holding? What are you releasing and letting go? Practice the opening and closing as you work with the hands directly. Use Gayatri Mantra to induce more light and magic. Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥtát savitúr váreṇ(i)yaṃbhárgo devásya dhīmahidhíyo yó naḥ prachodáyāt Wednesday, October 22nd Today's Intention: Make your action steps count. What is good for you is good for others. Moon jumps into the 15th tithi and Chitra nakshatra. Moon is almost completely empty as we near our final eclipse of the year. Moon in Chitra puts five planets in this Mars ruled nakshatra- Moon, Mercury and Rahu are in very close conjunction. Use yesterday's information to walk through your day. Chitra is ruled by Vishvakarma, the builder, the architect of the cosmos. He helps us with our action steps, making them potent and powerful. As his name denotes, action is a part of what he offers us. Since he is also an Aditya, he can provide us with resources for our life. He is often considered an incarnation of Lord Brahma, the god who brings the unmanifest into manifest form. Great karma yoga can happen with Vishvakarma. This is an essential reminder right now during the current planetary intensity. Be of service to others, let seva be a driving force for you and your actions. How can your actions serve you and others as a divine offering? Ultimately, this is dharma. Actions steps building upon your action steps. Surrender to the process. Use your creativity to expand the actions you take. Sun and Venus are in exact conjunction today, creating a combustion, excess heat and torching our creative energy. Watch for burnout, excess fatigue. Notice where you are pushing too hard and missing the messages of this delicate time period. Relationships are vulnerable right now as well as our creative fluidity. Self care and extra nourishment is essential. Thursday, October 23rd Today's Intention: Light your candle, even if it's only a tiny flame. Retrograde, debilitated Mercury moves back into Hasta nakshatra, inviting in a sense of light and flicker of wisdom. Ask Savitr for guidance and inspiration. Let mind and hands work together in the coming weeks. Hand eye coordination is maximized during this time period. Use the arts to increase this potential; playing music, painting, drawing, writing, can all increase the light within. We may feel some increased hope and possibility today because of this transition- as well as through the other significant changes today. Moon moves into Libra at 04:52 am CDT, joining debilitated Sun, combust Venus in its own sign, and an exalted yet sandhi (in the gap) Saturn. The instability of the times may intensify our sense of burnout today. Move towards the resources and seek moments of pause that can be a resource for you. Relationships, our sense of balance, our stability and support may feel uncertain and off balance right now. I encourage you to look for the smallest of resources and let this help you build resilience. Don't force outcomes right now. Ease forward gently. Diwali (or Deepavali) is a very significant five day festival in the Vedic tradition. This year, the festivities begin on the 18th in the USA, and continue until the 25th. The most significant day of the Diwali festivities is today because of the new Moon. This is a celebration of light, of Lakshmi, and our divine resources. The festival of light spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. As the solar eclipse is occurring simultaneously, we literally are experiencing an eclipse of our light, our solar energy, our soul. Today, let in the light, the abundance that is present in your life- no matter how small or nuanced. Turn on the light switch of your soul and let this be a poignant moment, intentionally driving out the shadows and inviting in more light to your life. Possibility, hope and joy are significant resources. Honor Lakshmi, light a candle at your altar and invoke her spirit of abundance and wealth. New Moon is at 16:57 CDT while Moon is in Libra and Chitra nakshatra. Moon moves to Swati nakshatra at 17:31 CDT. The partial solar eclipse begins at 17:00 CDT and continues until 18:52 CDT. A lot of movement and shifts are happening within this two hour time frame. Use this time for meditation, invocation and setting intentions if possible. Swati nakshatra increases shadow, movement and shape shifting. The rule of Swati, Vayu the wind god, increases these tendencies. Symbolically, this partial solar eclipse ushers in the next waxing cycle for us. This is a cycle that brings essential balancing for the pieces of our life that have been causing upheaval. The balance occurs once we slowly sift and settle into our new choices and action steps. Digestion and assimilation of the past month bring the stability we are seeking. Finding the most nourishing morsels of our lives and what our greatest needs are, becomes our driving force. Transformation becomes the nourishment, as well as instigates the nourishment we need. Seek transformation and let new resources feed you. Your emotional body is a vital resource for making wise choices and action steps. Whatever your intuitive knowing offers you- go there. Use this wisdom to guide you. Restructure the way you offer yourself, how you share your wisdom. Shift the way you seek wisdom and knowledge. Invite in innovation. Let the body be a primary creative resource for you. Resource from the wisdom of the body. Listen deeply and ask your body to give you the guidance you are seeking. Pelvis and hips can be a resource for informing the way you dance with stability, support, moving forward and containment. How can you move forward with greater stability and support? Read more about this in my New Moon Wisdom article. Friday, October 24th Today's Intention: Listen to your internal winds for vital physical body messages. Surrender to the winds of change. Moon transits Swati nakshatra, ruled by Vayu and Rahu, increasing movement, change and transition. There is a certain intensity with this nakshatra because Vayu is a Rudra. Strength and fierceness are invoked. This lessens the intense stalemate of planets in Chitra nakshatra that we've been working with for the past days and weeks. But now, swift movement and change are inevitable. Vayu is connected to prana, our internal winds and vital life force. Vayu is worshiped as the "breath of the gods". We are each touched by gods breath through Swati nakshatra. Speak, move, invoke this divine life force. Let it move you and help you create your new dance, your new direction. Venus moves into Swati nakshatra at 05:35 CDT and the shift from multiple planets in Chitra, shifts to multiple planets in Swati. This shift invites in creative movement and change. Changes and shifts with our relationships, our sense of balance and stability. Creativity, and its constant flux, flow and change, is our stabilizing force. Ground. Keep working with the pelvis as a resource for stability and creative vitality. The close combustion of Venus and Sun continues as Venus chases the Sun. Heat and passion intensifies so watch for sparks and aggression. Just after midnight, Sun shifts into Swati nakshatra as well. Sun in Swati nakshatra invites in a two week period of big shifts and changes as Saturn moves into Scorpio for the next 2.5 years. Sun invokes these shifts, the movement and the winds of change. Since Vayu is one of the eight Vasudevas, who are sources of illumination, there is light and inspiration that can arrive as well as resources. These resources and inspiration should be linked to dharma and Vayu will give the support we need to increase this nourishment. Since wind cools things off, we may notice a coolness or a detachment in ourselves emotionally at this time. Don't forget to check in with your emotional body during this time period as we may be missing vital messages. Use a three level check for resourcing. Moon shifts into Vishaka nakshatra at 18:27 CDT, invoking Indragni and a need for alliance and support systems. Saturday, October 25th Today's Intention: Let the shape shifting begin! Moon transits Vishaka nakshatra and Indragni orients us towards alliances, support systems and co-creation. Work with a sense of togetherness, and how to resource with connection and the nourishment we can receive from building relationships. There is much symbolism with the alliance of Indra and Agni. These dual gods remind us that two heads are better than one. That we need a hierarchy of power in order to thrive, and that we all serve each other, no matter the hierarchy. There is a connection to the altar here as well, making offerings to the divine, and the transformation that occurs when we do this act of worship. Alchemy, the transformation process of our offerings, is heightened today. Take note of what you are offering, how you are offering it, and to who. What shifts need to take place and who can you align with to increase its power and potency? Moon moves to Scorpio at 12:51 CDT. Mercury goes direct today at 14:13 CDT, returning him to his exalted status in Virgo. Technically he is considered "in his own sign" as he's over 15 degrees right now, but this strength should help with mental matters, commerce, business and finances, as well as creativity. These issues start to move in a more forward direction for us now. Moon moves to Anuradha nakshatra at 18:55 CDT, and Mitra enters our awareness. Sunday, October 26th Today's Intention: Don't get lost in the details. Moon transits Scorpio and Anuradha nakshatra today, enlivening Mitra and his precision. Moon receives drishti from Jupiter and Ketu. Both Sun and Moon are debilitated right now. This can be a very inward time of introspection, and may result in a lack of external focus. This tendency is increased as Moon is still small in the fourth tithi, though waxing now. Use this time to quietly restructure your visions and goals instead. Plant your seeds of desire and motivate energetically for your future. Mitra is an Aditya, known for giving resources and material support. He is a form of the Sun and relates to friendship, companionship, connections, and fine details. Anuradha can help us with alliances, connections, and building resources through our relationships. Moon moves to Jyeshtha nakshatra at 18:58 CDT. Indra's sensory sensitivity and overall strength help us overcome some obstacles. Tend to your wild horses (your senses) and don't let them run away with you. Monday, October 27th Today's Intention: Tame your wild horses! Moon transits Jyeshtha nakshatra and Indra, as well as Mercury rule the day. Indra heightens our senses, as well as our sensory sensitivity. He reminds us of the strength we can gain when we can control our senses and learn to channel them more directly. This is power. With Sun and Moon debilitated simultaneously, our sensitivity is more extreme. Pay attention to your subtle needs and listen to your intuition. Make sure your mental body doesn't lead you astray. Use a three level check for awareness. Moon jumps into Sagittarius and Mula nakshatra at 18:37 CDT, inviting in some disruptions and chaos. Moon joins Mars here and intensifies the changes. Saturn's drishti on both Mars and Moon increase the pressure and force. There is wisdom coming in the back door with with this calamity and restructuring, so look for the gifts that are arriving. The more space you can clear, the more space there will be for the new. Need some extra guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me. Plan your week in tune with nature. This week is a big one. We have four planetary shifts happening back to back. The theme this week is big movement and change, shifts and upheavals. Be easy with yourself and others. Be intentional with your growth and be willing to diligently face your shadows. Use your potent creativity to manifest possibility and don’t forget to keep hope alive!
Monday, October 13th Today's Intention: Nourish from the inside out. Beauty begins within. Moon moves into Gemini at 7:10 am CDT and transits Mirgashisha nakshatra today. Soma (another name for Chandra, the Moon) and also Mars are activated. Nourishment from the divine nectar of Soma is life giving. It lubricates the inner channels of our body and keeps us alive and youthful. Soma is lunar energy, but can be cultivated through the right foods and lifestyle practices. Vaidya Rama Kant Mishra speaks readily about "somagenic" qualities in order to enhance our well being. His lineage, the Shaka Vansya Ayurvedic tradition is a wealth of knowledge for increasing Soma within our bodies, mind and emotions. If you are a Moon child like me, and extra sensitive, you will want to educate yourself on this vital health science. The Moon is a creative and charismatic planet. It's sociable and loves to adorn and be adorned. Moon loves beauty, comfort and nourishment. That is why it is connected to Soma. Build soma within you today with self care, creativity and inviting in the Moon; fill your cup of resiliency. Venus moves to Chitra nakshatra today, as it continues to chase the Sun. Close in degrees again, now Sun and Venus are back in the same Nakshatra. Rahu and Mercury are also in Chitra right now. Expressing the close proximity of shadow and mind, soul and creativity. With intention, this is a powerful time to work directly with our shadows as I’ve mentioned in my Full Moon Eclipse Wisdom article. Chitra is Vishvakarma’s domain, the celestial architect who creates elaborate beauty through his artistry. He is a planner, using conscious action steps to reach his goals and materialize his visions. This is the intention for the coming weeks: thoughtful planning, through dreaming and visualizations. Concrete action steps that lead you towards manifesting your dreams into reality. Use your powerful creativity as your guide. Use relationships, connecting, as a way to strengthen your action steps. Moon moves into Ardra nakshatra at 19:52 CDT. Tuesday, October 14th Today’s Intention: Let the emotional body wisdom be your compass. Moon transits Gemini and Ardra nakshatra, Rudra’s domain. Moon receives drishti from Mars. This is a powerful day, one that provides movement and change, momentum and destructive capabilities. Notice if there is something returning to you. It will be in the mental body, the mind- perhaps through stories and the imaginal realms. Some re-calling, re-collecting is possible. Let this motivate you and also let it draw attention to what you need to address more consciously in your life. Ardra provides ample emotional upheaval in order for us to gain more conscious awareness about our emotional body. The emotional body awareness that needs our attention and intention. What is the outpouring today? What are you stuffing and keeping locked away in the shadows of your being? Let Rudra help you unleash what is begging you to look and listen- whether through quiet whispers or shouting. A three level check-in will help you name it. Then take the emotional body into a dance and drawing exploration for further harvesting. Re-visit my Creative Ritual for guidance. Moon moves to Punarvasu nakshatra at 21:46 CDT. Wednesday, October 15th Today’s Intention: Suttyam Eva Jayate. Truth alone Triumphs. Moon transits Punarvasu nakshatra and Aditi arrives with her compassionate wisdom and understanding. Let her wash over you. Let gentleness and softness become the balm that soothes you. Let yesterday’s churning be the opening in order to find some answers and solutions today. Today, the dust settles and now that we’ve created more space in our beings from yesterdays tilling, we can expand and open to possibility. Invite in the possibilities, the dreams, with open arms. Truth reveals itself today. Pay attention to the invitation Aditi is offering. Four planets are sandhi right now. Retrograde Mercury is less than a degree and will jump back into its exaltation sign Virgo tomorrow. Sun becomes sandhi, at the edge of Virgo in the 28 degree range today. Mars is sandhi as well, at the edge of Scorpio. Saturn is also sandhi at the edge of Libra. Though sandhi planets are considered “weak” by many astrologers, they symbolize the netherworlds, the in-between realms, and are very ethereal in expression. There is strength in this as imagination increases and becomes more tangible, more real and potent for us. This is the strength a planet can offer as it leaves a sign and intensifies its expression. Sandhi is a junction point, the gap between here and there. This is a powerful time for us to be very intentional with our dreams and desires. Be sure to use your physical body, mind/imagination, soul desires, and clear action steps to embody your dreams. Don’t get stuck in the netherworlds; use them intentionally. Moon moves into its own sign, Cancer, at 17:34 CDT, joining exalted Jupiter here. Thursday, October 16th Today’s Intention: Open the doors and windows of your soul. Let in the light. Moon transits Cancer, it’s own sign, with exalted Jupiter. Both receive drishti from Ketu, and a sandhi Saturn. Moon changes to Pushya nakshatra at 00:14 CDT, and the wisdom of Brihaspati arrives for us to dance with. Let the body be your gateway right now for liberation, awakening and insights. Let the wisdom of the body and the intuitive awareness of the emotional body guide you today. Polarities, opening and closing, can be a powerful reminder for the days work. What are you inviting in? What are you closing off to? Work with your boundaries intentionally and gain wisdom about your needs, wants and desires as you dance with this. Let the devas overcome your asuras today. Let the positive overcome the negative. Bring light to your shadows. Retrograde Mercury jumps back into Virgo (its sign of exaltation) at 02:59 am CDT. He is in Chitra nakshatra right now (as are Sun, Venus and Rahu) expressing the close proximity of these four planets right now. Today, Mercury and Sun are in exact conjunction (same degrees) in Virgo while Mars is in the same 29 degree range in Scorpio simultaneously. (There is a piercing, a stabbing like experience likely in our Mind Body as a result of this, so be cautious and careful today with your endeavors. Be gentle with yourself and others as many will be experiencing challenges). The planets are doing some big movements and elaborate dances this week. Mercury helps us rewind and review what we may have missed this past month, so pay attention for the messages returning. Mercury retrogrades until October 25th. Work consciously and creatively right now with your critic, perfectionism, excess detail, judgement and scrutiny within yourself and others. This is a perfect time to be bringing our shadows into the light of day. Friday, October 17th Today’s Intention: Dance with your shadows intentionally. Remove another veil that is shrouding you, holding you back from seeing your Self clearly. Moon moves to Ashlesha nakshatra at 03:04 am CDT, where Jupiter is transiting currently, inviting in an extra layer of Sarpa’s energy to our day. Sarpa is a small snake, he’s full of deception and illusion, mysticism, and has a penchant for egoic illusions. He is connected to our shadows, as the serpents are; they represent the nodes Rahu and Ketu. Sarpa, however, is well learned, and seeks wisdom from the occult and mystical realms. He helps us grow beyond our illusion if we are willing to work directly with the shadow energy he offers. Today is yet another opportunity for us to face our shadows and bring them to the light. Sun jumps to Libra, its sign of debilitation, at 07:16 am CDT where it joins an exalted sandhi Saturn, perched for changing signs and into Scorpio. Sun transits Libra until November 15th. This is a time of softening into ourselves, our relationships and our sense of balance. A death of the ego in many ways. Debilitated Sun, provides pause, and a greater ability for us to turn inward, introspectively, and look at the parts of ourselves that we may resist seeing, out of fear, illusion and ignorance. There may be some painful moments for our egos in the coming weeks, but use these harsh moments to see where you have been missing the messages of your soul. What illusions are you living with and how is this effecting you and your relationships? Your sense of balance and creativity? The fluidity and flow in your life, as well as stability and support? Use this month to cultivate a profound acknowledgement of your strengths and weaknesses. Use the body’s wisdom for help and answers. Exalted Saturn (until November 2nd) can help us access much wisdom in the body, so work actively with the somatic sensations of the body at this time. “Slow and steady steps” is our mantra right now. Saturday, October 18th Today’s Intention: Change is the only constant. Use pelvis, legs and feet as your primary resource today. Stabilize, ground and root. Mars jumps into Sagittarius and Mula nakshatra at 02:46 am CDT, inviting in dramatic change, uprooting and a disruption of our dharmic path. He gives drishti to Ketu now, instead of the previous arrangement of Ketu giving drishti to Mars. The changes that arrive, will likely bring confusion and chaos to our path before it can affirm and confirm what we need in our lives, and how to move forward. Trust there is a clearing that must take place before greater clarity can arrive. This period of chaos lasts for 18 days. In this time period know that Nirrti and Ketu are working their dark charm on each of us, in order to help us invite in more light. Cutting and clearing out rubble and debris from our path so that we can work more intentionally and powerfully from here on out. Mars insures that actions will be powerful and with force, so be sure to use this time to clear out what is not helping you move forward on your path with power and dynamism. As Mars shifts into the Ashada constellations after November 5th, we gain more nourishment and support with our action steps. Trust that the work you are willing to do during Mula nakshatra will indicate the nourishment and support you will receive. You must make space for greater nourishment to arrive. The chaos is the house cleaning that will offer greater space. Trust the process. Saturn will be changing signs during this two week period as well- moving after 2.5 years of Libra, into the sign of Scorpio- a sign of great transformation and change. This is a strong time of uprooting and change so expect some wild times! Surrender is necessary here. In keeping with the sudden changes occurring right now, Moon jumps into Leo and Magha nakshatra at 06:04 am CDT and another layer of Ketu is enlivened. We may wake up feeling these sudden shifts within us as there is a bit of drama and excitement occurring in the planets right now. The Moon expresses our emotional body and intuitive wisdom, our creativity and our ever-changing nature. The Moon is a reflector of the Sun’s light. As a reflection, a mirror, it shares messages with us daily about our needs, our emotions, our moods and feelings. Magha is connected to our ancestors, our lineage. There is so much upheaval and change with the planets right now, and today we get a closer look at our lineage issues. The reflection will be strong and likely open us to some parts of ourselves that we have been avoiding or overlooking. Be brave and bold as the magnification happens. Be honest and honor the awareness. Whether it feels dark and heavy or light and of gratitude, these are gifts from the ancestors arriving today. These are pieces of shadow and light to be working with intentionally in the coming weeks. These pieces may arrive as emotional turmoil, so don’t neglect this wisdom. A three level check in will help you identify what is arriving. We have yet another planetary shift occurring today. Venus moves into Libra at 21:49 CDT, joining debilitated Sun and exalted (sandhi) Saturn here. Libra is Venus’s own sign and a place that exemplifies Venus’s creativity and the powerful stability we can gain from flow and fluidity. Creativity can be that powerful stabilizing force for us. As Saturn prepares to leave Libra, we are getting a rare opportunity to very directly work with these final pieces of Libra and what they mean for our life. Libra is the ultimate balancer of opposites and extremes. It can show up as confusion, indecisiveness and extreme actions or ideas. Positively, it can be an expression of stability, security, power and grace, with potent flexibility. Venus and its infinite creative forces joins Libra to help us invite in more of what will bring the latter- ultimate freedom through grace and flexibility. It will be our creativity that gets us there though. Look for signs in relationships, possibility and hope, creative endeavors, pelvis and hips, as well as sensuality and sexuality. Saturn can help us stabilize this energy, and the softening of the Sun can help us be honest about what’s working in our favor and what is not. Body wisdom and art are so crucial for this process. Be diligent with your explorations. Sunday, October 19th Today’s Intention: Thank your lucky stars today. Moon moves to Purvaphalguni nakshatra at 09:02 am CDT and our creativity is amplified through Bhaga. His domain is sensuality, sexuality, shakti and the magical sparks of our creative life force that bring passion and power with them. He blesses us with luck and fortune, thriving through our creativity and through resources. Today, work with the creative arts. Use your body wisdom, your imagination and your intuition for guidance and creative force. Re-visit my Full Moon Eclipse Creative Ritual for affirming and confirming your path. What do you want? What do you need? Create it into reality. Rahu, Ketu and Jupiter are in the exact degree range, just over 24 degrees. This is a powerful time to be learning, growing and gaining insights with our shadows, illusions and our path. Don’t hide out in ignorance. Venus and Mars are simultaneously in the same degree range of just over 1 degree right now. Creative passion is high! This is heightened as a result of Moon in the Phalguni stars. Use it! Need some extra guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me. Plan your week in tune with nature. Never miss a planetary update. Sign up for my weekly newsletter. Was this post helpful? Please share it with a friend! Thank you. We are in the delicate two week time period between lunar and solar eclipses. This is a time of dancing with our shadows, needing to be diligent with self exploration, and bravely looking at the parts of our being that need transformation. These big shifts and changes are sealed with the Solar Eclipse occurring on October 23rd which auspiciously is also Diwali, the day of light and a celebration of Maha Lakshmi. Read more about this sensitive time in my Full Moon Eclipse Wisdom article.
Simultaneously, this two week period holds extreme changes, transformations and a very cosmic dance with the planets. There will be four major shifts within hours and days of each other. First Mercury retrogrades back into its sign of exaltation, Virgo (where Rahu is currently) on October 16th. On October 17th, Sun shifts into its sign of debilitation, Libra, on the 17th where it joins exalted Saturn. Saturn will be sandhi at this time (in the gap) and perched at the edge of Libra, ready to jump into Scorpio for a 2.5 year transit on November 2nd! The very next day, on October 18th, Mars jumps into Sagittarius for a short 5 week transit, while Virgo shifts into Libra, its own sign. Talk about movement and change! Libra is significant for helping us find balance and greater stability in our lives. This theme of transformation continues with a stalemate of planets in Scorpio coming next. We need this time of shift over the next two weeks to help us weigh and measure our options before we make some big changes for ourselves over the next few months. So use this time for gathering resources, information, tools and support. What do you need for your ultimate nourishment and support in life? Where are you confused, stuck and vacillating? Who and what in your life is helping you move forward, and who and what are holding you back? This is a time of gathering information. Be diligent. I’ll be sharing more about the day to day details of this powerful time in my Moon Mind Calendar. Be sure to follow along. Are you listening to what it’s telling you, or are the messages lost in the shadows? Paying close attention to diet and purifying your digestion right now is ideal. Zoom in on your bad habits; these are the things that are holding you back from moving forward in your life. Watch out for drinking, drugs and excess sugar at this time as well as pieces of you that are manipulating yourself and others out of fear. This will be important as your relationship house becomes the focus after the 17th. Taurus: The dance for you right now is between creativity and healing. Listen to your creative impulses, your child like senses, your passions. These hold wisdom for you about what you need in your life to thrive and where you might be holding back. Find the stability and answers you need in your gut, your instincts, your digestion and assimilation of nourishment. Transforming your bad habits will come from finding a new sense of balance with what you need and what you don’t need. It will take a radical approach to loosen and remove these old pieces, the blockages that are holding you back. As Mars and Venus shift on the 18th, you’ll get some support with transforming from your depths. Don’t forget that your creativity is the missing link. Gemini: Matters of the heart seem to carry the most weight with them right now. The emotional body wisdom is crying to you, “Listen to me!” The illusions have been so strong that you have likely been missing these vital messages for quite some time; these are the resources that demand your attention though. How much longer will you bypass your body wisdom, your intuitive wisdom, for the imaginal realms of the mind? You’re being offered a window right now into your creative, passionate being. It beckons to you, yearns for you to jump into the creative flow of your whole being. This is a unique time, one that can untie head and heart, and let them dance more purposefully in duet. Get answers from the pelvis. Cancer: Your shadow dance is between the heart and the courage it takes to live your dreams. There’s a lot of back and forth- fears and illusions playing with you right now. The trick is to capture these illusions when you catch yourself dancing with them, then bring some new light to them once you do. Do not stuff them back into your heart- as disappointments, only to become more haunts and torments. Now is the time to courageously face your set backs, the emotional wounds you are carrying, and passionately transform them. Art will be your medicine, but first you must figure out what really ails you. Leo: The light that is coming from your depths is your most valuable resource right now. These are the pieces of your being that are forcing their way up from your shadows and begging you to see them. It’s a time of restructuring, and endings, with the support of guidance and knowledge. Trust the nourishment in your life and find ways to amplify this support for yourself. What are your greatest needs and what do you need for ultimate comfort and security? There is something you can count on, no matter what. It’s your creativity; your ability to return to and be nourished by your creative powers. Don’t forget this wisdom. Virgo: The magic and mystery you are discovering, stems from your lower chakras. Your roots are shifting, changing; as though you are tilling your own soil. Dancing with feet, legs and pelvis as a primary resource can offer a magnified creative flow and help you find the stability and comfort you are seeking so desperately. This theme continues in the coming weeks and requires your bravery and honesty. What are you most passionate about and craving from your depths? What pieces of your life have yet to be attended to? Your soul is giving you an ultimatum. It’s time to really thrive now, to do what you were born to do. You can no longer pretend your needs don’t matter. Stabilize from the ground up. Libra: It’s your party and you can cry if you want to. There’s a number of fancy dances happening in your sign in the coming days. Ins and outs, losses and gains, returns and revivals. You may feel a sense of renewal and a surge of hope. Capture this and hold it tightly for now. Paint elaborate images with this feeling and nurture it tenderly. These are the delicate seeds that can offer you blossoms in your new solar cycle. With Sun moving out of your shadowed realms and into your head, there’s a sense of rise and shine, though his debilitation softens his shine. Use this time to be radical in your boundaries and find a new balance in the process. Scorpio: Your mantra is shakti. Imbibe it it. Become it. Let it move you, move through you and surrender to its messages. Guard it with your entire being and cultivate more of it within you. Be nourished by it and let this flow continue to move you. Wherever you are losing your spark, your ability to transform and transcend your shadows, shows the blockages that need your greatest attention and intention. Where are you standing still when you desire movement? Where are you feeling malnourished, when you desire a feast? Dance with the shadows for answers and listen to your depths. They are whispering to you for more of this one precious life. Sagittarius: Wisdom and knowledge may be coming to you in surprising ways right now. Your heart is getting clearer in the process of much restructuring; you are definitely lightening your load. As life begins to simplify more and more, you’ll begin to notice the basic requirements that you need for your true nourishment and satisfaction. Less is more; but use this time to determine radically what needs to be let go of in order to really be nourished by what truly serves you. This includes bravely addressing your emotions in new ways and being willing to look at their messages in new ways. Be radical and bold in your giving and receiving. There’s a dance taking place with your polarities. What are you opening to and what are you closing to? Capricorn: The biggest question you face is how to merge all of these seemingly different pieces of yourself into one offering. There is so much you want to do, to say, to be. Is it possible that all of you can be shared with the world, in order to shine brightly and magnificently? Without ruining yourself and your vitality in the process? This pulling in multiple directions can be your downfall, only if you neglect the natural cycles and rhythms of Nature. Let her creative flow tell you when to rise and when to fall. Trust and surrender to her dance. Forcing, pushing and over working are the shadows that need your greatest attention and intention at this time. Ultimate balance will take you far. Go there. Find it. Work with that like your life depends on it. It does. Aquarius: You’ve been working with a low point, a pause recently. And if you’ve really been paying attention, you’ve noticed how important this standstill has been for you and your inner transformational process. There is a new richness, more fertile soil within you so to speak. This is the ground work that you are now ready to plant some potent seeds into. A rich harvest is coming, but continue to digest and assimilate, nourish and be nourished by learning and wisdom. The best way for you to amplify this is through teaching and giving what you know away to others. The teacher learns more than the students. Pisces: The theme of endings and transformations continues for you and your relationship matters. Who are you inviting in and who are you releasing and letting go of permanently? Wisdom and knowledge seem to be the fuel you need for increasing passion and creativity in your life right now, but don’t neglect the role your emotional body and intuitive wisdom play in your awareness and growth. Your emotional body wisdom is also a place of much creativity. Use it as a resource to find out more about what you need in your life and relationships. What fuels your gifts and your giving? Are you sharing from a sustainable place or a place of lack and need? What does your emotional body tell you when you give yourself to others? Save a piece of yourself for yourself. Simultaneously, there will be a lunar eclipse occurring. The eclipse begins at 03:17 am CDT and continues until 08:32 am CDT. The maximum part of the eclipse will be at 05:55 am CDT. From a Vedic standpoint, it is not ideal to look at the eclipse or to be outside during the eclipse period. Eat lightly and tend to your self care needs on this day. Include meditation and more silence for yourself as well. There are quite a few things happening at once during this full Moon! The Moon is full of course, which signifies our own fullness as well. We may be feeling this most intensely on the mental body level right now. Mercury (our mind) is retrograde in Libra, moving back towards its sign of exaltation, Virgo right now. Rahu (our shadows, illusions and demons) is currently transiting Virgo with Sun and debilitated Venus. There is a pull towards this Virgo energy within our mind and its shadowed and intensified by Rahu and his ways. We may be feeling an imbalance within our relationships on some level. There may be an intensified critic, and an awareness about "what isn't working" in our lives. This may increase our discomfort and our need for change, but uncertainty about how to do that, how to move forward in a new way. The retrograde motion of Mercury is a reminder, a time of re-evaluation, and a return to some of our shadow work (Rahu). Read my article about retrograde Mercury for more about retrograde Mercury and how his ways can also be a positive time for renewal. Mercury is transiting back through Libra now, where exalted Saturn is poised for change. After 2.5 years, Saturn is preparing to move into Scorpio on November 2nd. This has an interesting effect on our mind and our emotions; we may feel we are being pulled in opposite directions. Saturn's forward momentum has the portal already opened and inviting in Scorpios ways of depth and transformation, while the pull of retrograde Mercury is opening the portal and inviting in Virgo's energy and the planets transiting there. Since Libra is concerned with balance, relationships, the pelvis and organs therein, as well as life and death matters, we may feel as though our pendulums are swinging very dramatically in the next few weeks. Be careful of binary thinking patterns (yes and no as well as right and wrong) that may be keeping you in a head lock. It is very important to stay balanced right now; use the wisdom of embodiment and the arts to move what is arriving and do it with intention and creativity. Now is a great time to start envisioning your new life, new possibilities, new options and desires. Put your focus on the imaginal, your dreams, and let these be seeds of potential that you can strengthen in the coming months. This full Moon is eclipsed by shadows, illusions and at the same time provoking our liberation. It is a Moon that begs for moksha, change, restructuring, finding closure and endings. The critic is a part of our shadow that we must attend to in the coming weeks and will likely be a main focus for us during the two week eclipse period (October 8th to 23rd). *Chart of the full Moon at time of eclipse. This coming waning Moon cycle is a very important time to be working directly with our shadows, our illusions, as well as our demons. This is intensified because Mercury is moving back towards Rahu (our karmic demons) in Virgo and will return to this sign (its sign of exaltation) during this two week eclipse period. Did you miss some important information last month? Look for clues around perfectionism, the critic, purity, your standards and your judgments. As I mentioned above, binary thinking patterns are a part of these mental body illusions. These details hold important clues about our shadow work and where we might be getting stuck, holding ourselves back or missing vital information. Use this to inform your action steps and make new decisions that will restore more balance and harmony in your life. This theme of balance will be more apparent as Mercury re-enters Libra on 11.04. Moon in Revati nakshatra at the time of the eclipse in Pisces furthers the symbol of release, endings and letting go while strengthening themes of its ruling planet Mercury. Pushan, the ruling deity of Revati, insures our safe passage and travels, but requests simplicity and purity. He is a protector and helps us find our way back to the path when we are lost. He also can help us retrieve lost or stolen items. This is a special waning Moon cycle that offers us many returns, on multiple levels. Be willing and open to receive messages that will help you strengthen your path, return to and restore your sense of well being, hope and possibility. Be open to comfort and nourishment and reminders that life doesn't have to be hard and forced- it can be lighter and more gentle. This requires us to clear away rubble, debris and anything blocking our path, so vital clearing is truly essential during this eclipse cycle. May your path unfold as you dance with your shadows in new ways! Creative Ritual In this past cycle, we worked directly with self care. Inviting in more nourishment, comfort and support through our actions and intention. I suggested that you keep a Self Care Journal, in order to keep track of the many ways each day that you care for and nourish yourself. I invite you to use your Self Care Journal as a tool of not only resources, but also of inspiration and creativity. Here's a Creative Ritual with this in mind: 1) Go back through your Self Care Journal writing over the past two weeks and circle words that speak to you, that leap off the page, that you find interesting. Gather at least 10 to 15 words. 2) Organize these words into a poem that speaks to your path, where you have been, where you are going and what you need for your journey. Let a vision arise through your words; let the story unfold. 3) Create an image from your poem. Turn the verbal into a tangible expression through color, textures, shapes and images. Use craypas and paper- or another art medium that speaks to you. 4) Dance your image and let it come alive through your body wisdom. Get embodied through the vibrancy and imagery of your drawing. Move for at least 10 to 15 minutes. Then ask yourself: If my body could speak, what would it say? These are vital resources for your journey over the next few weeks. Let these messages bring you answers that you need for your next steps, for listening to your intuitive wisdom, and for gaining guidance for your path. Need some extra guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me. Plan your week in tune with nature. Never miss a planetary update. Sign up for my weekly newsletter. Was this post helpful? Please share it with a friend! Thank you. This is a powerful week! Mercury is retrograde, and the full Moon on Wednesday brings with it a full lunar eclipse. We enter a delicate two week period between lunar and solar eclipses at this time. Take this into consideration with your actions and intentions. We are working with shadow and illusions in this gap of time. Dance with them intentionally and may you lift the veil of illusion in some new way!
Monday, October 6th Today’s Intention: Take one step at a time. Take each step with intention. Keep your commitment to grounding, while finding your balance. But keep moving. Moon moves to Purvabhadrapada nakshatra at 03:12 am CDT, inviting in Ajaikapada and another level of Jupiter into our day. Moon is receiving drishti from Mars while it transits Aquarius, which offers charge, action and increased fire. Purvabhadrapada is connected to tapas and penance. Ajaikapada is a form of Shiva, lord of the dance, and reminds us of our human capabilities- balancing struggles, challenges and obstacles as we move forward in life. Pada means foot. It is essential to remember slow, simple steps again today. As Ajaikapada dances, he balances, one foot raised, and one foot firmly grounded. There is a certain purpose, a direct gaze (drishti) and a strong commitment that one must have to keep this sense of balance and grounding simultaneously. These are your reminders for today. Slow, steady steps, using great commitment and purpose as you move. Intention will be a poignant reminder as well. Since Ajaikapada is a Rudra, there is immense strength available here. At what costs are you willing to move forward? Lighten your load, it will make it easier to dance through life. Moon moves to Pisces at 19:25 CDT, joining Ketu there. Moon receives drishti from debilitated Venus, Sun and also Rahu, as well as Jupiter from nine houses away. This will intensify our experience over the next few days leading into the full Moon. More on this in my upcoming Moon Mind Calendar and Full Moon Wisdom article. Tuesday October, 7th Today's Intention: The desire to change ourselves and our lives, requires that we dig deeply down into our depths. Moon transits Pisces with Ketu there as well. Moon and Ketu both receive ample gaze from debilitated Venus, Sun and also Rahu, as well as Jupiter from nine houses away. This will intensify our experience over the next few days leading into the full Moon tomorrow. Just after midnight, Moon jumps into Uttarabhadrapada at 00:51 am CDT. This nakshatra is the latter half of the bhadrapada constellation which symbolizes the front half and back half of a funeral cot; death, transformation and letting go are the focus here. Uttarabhadrapada is ruled by Ahirbudhnya, the serpent of the deep. He is a naga serpent connected to wisdom (not a sarpa serpent connected to illusions) which indicates his immense and vast knowledge- knowledge and wisdom that must be excavated deeply for. He is connected to our subconscious mind, the pieces of our being that are ruling us, but that we must work hard to uncover and transform. He is a serpent, but a serpent we can work with, learn and grow from. The back legs of a funeral cot symbolize that Uttarabhadrapada is helping us liberate, let go of and let the pieces of our story move, change and release. Yesterday we began a very intentional dance- moving us towards the full Moon lunar eclipse and waning Moon cycle. Today, let that dance transform into a very intentional release. What shadows and demons are you ready to release, transform and let go of? The Moon is already in the 15th tithi, the final phase of its waxing phase. Our cups are full and overflowing. It's time to release and let go. Do this with poignancy, intention and commitment as we embark on this final eclipse cycle of the year. Moon moves to Revati nakshatra at 22:38 CDT, nearing exact conjunction with Ketu. Wednesday, October 8th Today's Intention: Total eclipse of the heart. Soften and release, but courageously look at your shadows. Moon will be completely full at 05:49 am CDT while in Pisces and Revati nakshatra. Simultaneously, there will be a lunar eclipse occurring. The eclipse begins at 03:17 am CDT and continues until 08:32 am CDT. The maximum part of the eclipse will be at 05:55 am CDT. Moon in Revati nakshatra at the time of the eclipse in Pisces furthers the symbol of release, endings and letting go while strengthening themes of its ruling planet Mercury. Pushan, the ruling deity of Revati, insures our safe passage and travels, and requests simplicity and purity. For full details on the eclipse and the coming waning Moon cycle read my Full Moon Wisdom article. Moon jumps into Aries at 20:44 CDT and into Ashwini nakshatra. Thursday, October 9th Today's Intention: Don't get led by your senses. Reign in your horses. As Moon transits Aries in Ashwini nakshatra, our two week eclipse cycle begins with the Ashwini-Kumara twins leading us towards healing and revitalization. Moon also receives drishti (gaze) directly from exalted Saturn and retrograde Mercury. The Ashwini twins enliven the healing arts and beckon us to rejuvenate through healing modalities such as rasayana treatments and using the creative arts to spark change and vitality within us. Ayurveda is their domain and strength comes as a gift of their healing, symbolized here by a horse. The Ayurvedic strengthening herb, Ashwagandha, is connected to the horse and the root word ashva. Today, make sure self care is a top priority. The two weeks between lunar and solar eclipse, and also the gap between summer and winter (fall), is a delicate time for health and well being. It's a sandhi time, so treat yourself with extra TLC. Start your fall cleanse today if you haven't already. I'm unveiling my new Swati Jr Jewelry collection today. The new Cosmic Collection is inspired by our dance with the Sun, Moon and Stars. Have you joined my FB event? I'll be giving gifts, incentives, discounts and more! Join the trunk show event and get in on the goodies! Moon moves to Bharani nakshatra at 19:16 CDT. Friday, October 10th Today's Intention: Strength and sensitivity go hand in hand. Your vulnerability is your power. Moon transits Bharani nakshatra, ruled by Yama and Venus. Yama brings restraint and is considered the king of dharma, because he determines your karmas at the time of your death. It is through the self control and restraint he provokes that can keep us out of suffering and sin, our own misery. This is a harsh and aggressive nakshatra, one that is ideal for butchering and killing as well as arguments and attacks. The irony is that it is also an extremely sensitive star as seen through its symbol, the yoni. Strength and sensitivity are the perfect pair. Our shadows, our weaknesses, are indeed our greatest gifts. It takes much courage, strength and power to overcome (to kill) our shadows and illusions. Make your actions count and firmly restrain yourself from being led my your asuras (demons). Purify yourself, but always strive for balance. Sun moves to Chitra nakshatra at 13:41 CDT, joining retrograde Mercury and Rahu in this nakshatra. Ruled by Vishvakarma, this is a nakshatra of action, plans and taking powerful, creative steps. The coming weeks are a time to get powerful and poignant, though as Sun nears Rahu, imbalances in our sense of poignancy may be problematic. If there's hesitancy, confusion or lack of clear direction, these are your shadows at play. If you're pushing too hard and forcing outcomes, you are not aligned with the times. Be bold and passionate with your desires, but make sure you are listening to your emotional body wisdom, your intuition, for guidance. Set goals and priorities and get organized! Get creative as the celestial architect Vishvakarma is here to help you rise and shine! Take some solid action steps towards your visions. This alone might clear the fog. Be diligent with your 3 level check in so you don't mix messages of head and heart. Moon moves to Krittika nakshatra at 18:22 CDT. Saturday, October 11th Today's Intention: In order to gain, we must be prepared to lose something. Moon jumps into its degrees of exaltation and into Taurus just minutes after midnight- at 00:14 am CDT. Exaltation only lasts until 05:34 am CDT, but the Moon will still be in its mulitrikona sign where it can maximize its effects at 75%. With Rahu's drishti on the Moon, watch for big rises and falls. Mars also give his direct gaze, making for a piercing and powerful emotional body. Our Moon tides will be high and low; be mindful of extremes and be diligent with emotional body awareness. Do a 3 level check in so you don't mix messages of head and heart. Moon transits Krittika nakshatra at this time and Agni as well as the Sun share their fire with us. Agni is the fire of life and is a powerful transformational part of our beings. We have many different types of Agni within us. We have much to digest: food, emotions, environments, relationships. Agni helps us burn, clarify and purify all of this in order to help us assimilate the nourishment of life. He brings purification, but he cuts and discards in the process. Within any transformation, there is letting go and loss. Krittika is considered a mixed nakshatra; it is both soft and hard. Though we gain nourishment through Agni, we also have to discard what is unnecessary, not useful for us. Consider this a day of the pruning and purifying process. Moon moves to Rohini at 18:08 CDT. Sunday, October 12th Today's Intention: Merge with your abundant creative flow. Go ahead and get lost in it today. Moon transits Rohini nakshatra and Lord Brahma, as well as the creativity of the Moon, are invited into our day. Moon is still in Taurus, its mulitrikona sign (a strong place for the Moon) while receiving drishti from both Rahu and Mars. Our Moon tides will be high and low; be mindful of extremes and be aware of your emotional body awareness. Be diligent with your 3 level check in so you don't mix messages of head and heart. Rohini is arguably the most creative nakshatra as indicated by its ruler Brahma; he created the universe from his navel after all! It's in this vein, we can create, materialize, and align with our true power as mini gods and goddesses in this life time. Our creativity is in fact our one constant gift- offering possibility and our ability to recreate ourselves and our lives over and over again. Without resiliency and reinventing ourselves, life would be stagnant, without growth, change or abundance. Rohini reminds us to welcome in the flow of creativity, the shakti of life, and to rejoice in the material aspects of life now and again. They are a part of this lila, the play of life, after all. Give thanks for for what flows towards you and through you, and let it continue to flow out into the world. Be that gift. Moon moves to Mrigashirsha nakshatra at 18:38 CDT. Monday, October 13th Today's Intention: Nourish from the inside out. Beauty begins within. Moon transits Mirgashisha nakshatra and Soma (another name for Chandra, the Moon) and also Mars are activated. Need some extra guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me.
