Moon Mind :::
8.11 Moon transits Virgo in Hasta nakshatra, but moves to Chitra at 16:21 CDT. Waxing Moon transits the 5th tithi for the majority of the day, ruled by Jupiter. Chitra is ruled by Mars and Vishvakarma, the divine architect. There is much creativity and ornamentation here. {Jupiter currently sits in Gemini with Mars. Mars is giving drishti to Moon and Venus now in Virgo. Both Gemini and Virgo are ruled by Mercury. Mercury currently sits in Cancer (ruled by Moon) and is with Sun there.} This matrix of energy can bring a passionate critique- one where the mind runs away with itself and starts to doubt, then suddenly the emotions get swept into these currents. Especially note if you are being extra critical of relationships, females, creative endeavors, artistic pursuits. Bring awareness to the judgement of others and note that there is really judgment for the self under all of it. *More on debilitated Venus in Virgo and the multiple transits over the next week of Mars, Sun and Mercury in my weekly horoscopes- coming out tomorrow. Moon Mind :::
8.9 Moon transits Leo, conjunct Venus. Moon moves through Purvaphalguni nakshatra and into Uttaraphalguni at 14:36 CDT and is in the 3rd tithi until late evening. Be boldly creative. Connect the emotional body with your creative, somatic and physical endeavors. This is an excellent day to resource with the emotions, let them be king, and use them to create, transform and transcend. Personal sexuality/sensuality and fertility/creativity is the primary energy until Moon moves to Uttaraphalguni. The energy, thoughts, desires and needs move towards family, sustainability, and the fruits gained from the previous days etc. Make a fruit salade and enjoy the melange. Moon moves to Virgo at 20:55 CDT. 8.10 Moon in Virgo and moves from Uttaraphalguni to Hasta at 15:40 CDT. The mental and emotional bodies are illuminated. Watch for heat, getting burned- especially the hands. Use this time to sharpen the mind, keep wit alive, work with hand/eye coordination and watch for pick-pockets. Get creative- with the hands. Do a hand dance- enter the dance through the fingers, palm, hand and wrist. Recite the Gayatri Mantra. *If anyone would like to share their "Creative Engagement" Homework from my previous posts, please email it to me so that I can share it with the list in my next newsletter. It's exciting and inspiring to witness the individual creative process. Thank you! What is the purpose of using Jyotish and Body-Centered
Expressive Art Therapy together? Through the mixture of Jyotish insights and the frame of Body-centered Expressive Art Therapy, I help my clients grow in awareness of their unique inner/outer life journey. Because life is an entirely creative pursuit, we, as humans, would not be alive without the creative impulses of life. Literally shakti, the spark of creative energy, brought our soul into existence. The rest of this lila (the drama/play of life) is entirely up to us to create. This is a general theme of our existence. We are here in a human form to create- from nothingness- and from simple awareness and desire, all possibilities arise. Since the beginning of human existence, there has been art. Historically, art is what has helped communities and individuals thrive, grow and unify. Art has been both a practical tool of survival as well as a spiritual one. Art has brought communication on every level of awareness- through the unspoken, the felt sense, the imagination and the spiritual realms. Art makes the unseen, seen, and it unifies the individual and group experience of life. I often think how amazing it is that we have unlimited, vast potential, and yet for many, this will not amount to much growth, wisdom, change or transformation in this life. Though there are many reasons for this limited experience of life, it is through the arts that we can cultivate our creative abilities and work with bringing nothingness into form, imagination into a work of art, desire into flexibility and new awareness. My Masters studies of Body-centered Expressive Art Therapy have illuminated the possibilities and potentials for my creative self. Body-centered Expressive Art Therapy (or EXA for short) is known as a brilliant tool for helping to create both individual and group transformations in all areas of life. My work with jyotish brings the individual’s life purpose into focus, gives it a context- creatively, spiritually, dharmically, emotionally and mentally. Combining these two bodies of work maximizes what can be accomplished and creates a clear frame within to work with the vastness of the creative, artistic realms. What can this Jyotish + EXA work offer me? Together, we can identify issues and themes that are present in your life experience. Together, we can find resources, solutions, possibilities, awareness, receptivity, growth, and change for your journey. With the arts and an intermodal approach to the work (multiple artistic mediums), creativity can be cultivated, moved, transformed, resourced, and utilized as a catalyst for change. This work uses your body as the center, the catalyst, and the messenger that informs the process. Working with a body-centered approach to the expressive arts cultivates a very integrated awareness, developed through, and with, your unique body and its patterns, rhythms and imprinted stories. The body is a perfect historical documentation of the past; it contains the stories and records that are layered within the mental, emotional, physical bodies as well as the spiritual body. Working with the body as a main resource, as an entry point for the work, offers unique awareness of the somatic, sensory and phenomenological existence that you have been gifted with. The Vedic knowledge that I am immersed in, as well as ritual and Nature's wisdoms, are central aspects to my work, my life process, and my offerings. Part of what makes my approach to Body-Centered Expressive Art Therapy unique is not only my incorporation of Jyotish, but also the Vedic knowledge that I utilize in my daily life. I can't separate this from my work or my sessions. Find out more about me and my background. Who can be helped with this work? This work is both for those who are already heavily engaging in the arts, as well as for those who feel they have no creative bones in their body. The beauty of the creative process is that it is just that, a process. When we explore the process itself, we can learn a great deal about life and our innate wisdom. When we embrace the product that arises from the process, we also gain insights into what we can create, materialize and manifest into life. This work is both about process and product, and not about analyzing, provoking, concocting, forcing, manipulating, dissecting or judging what comes. With deep compassion, clear guidelines, and the intelligence of the body and its innate creativity, we watch what arises. Simple as that. We watch what emerges and work with that. We dance with it, create with it, sit with it, sing with it, paint with it, write with it, be with it. We work with what is and what comes. We resource with the known and unknown, cultivating new presence. We find the resources that are everywhere in this existence and are already tapping us on the shoulder, waiting patiently for us to notice them. Nature offers her gifts constantly. Our creative process and product, can be the illumination along the way. Jyotish offers the map, the art gives the important road signs to us. Together, these two bodies of knowledge create an unlimited opportunity for personal growth and expansion that can enhance our life in a myriad of ways. Before your first session, think about these questions: What are your intentions for life? What has been disappointing? Why do you wish to expand your creativity? What are you creating or what would you like to create in your life? What are your greatest desires? Are you a closet artist- one that wishes to open your unique artistic channels but thinks this is impossible? Do you often say that you are “not an artist and never could become one?” Are you a product artist who is burnt out and has lost his/her creative pulse? What is your favorite medium to work with, what do you avoid? What rituals are you engaged in and how do you use them? Book your Jyotish + EXA session. Happy {New Moon}
Moon Mind ::: 8.5 to 8.7 Moon transits Cancer, its own sign, until 8.7 at 11:21 CDT. 8.5 ::: Moon in Pushya nakshatra, the nourishing star, symbolized by a cow udder. This nakshatra is ruled by Saturn and the Moon (as well as Mercury and Sun) receive drishti from Saturn- sitting in Libra with Rahu. This aspect to the moon requires structure in order for benefits. Emotionally, there may be sensitivity and even depression. Do what is necessary for extra rest and inward balance. 8.6 ::: Moon moves to Ashlesha nakshatra at 09:11 CDT. New Moon (in Cancer and Ashlesha) at 16:50 CDT. New Moon here welcomes a new cycle of Mercurial pursuits. Communication in general and mental activities get a jump start and will ripen in the next month. Ashlesha nakshatra is ruled by Mercury and Sarpa- a serpent god. Today (as well as this new month) can be a good time for uncovering, researching, deep transcendence and hidden knowledge. Watch out for the snakes, the shadow energy, that results in deception and misinformation. The recommendations from the previous day still apply- as there is still an aspect from Saturn. 8.7 ::: Moon moves to Leo and Magha nakshatra at 11:21 CDT and joins Venus there. The next few days can bring creative sparks, inspirations and an energy to make creative movement. Use it. Creative Engagement Activity ::: Mark the new moon with a “head dance” using the theme of being “top heavy”- working from the top of the body, down to the ground, working with gravity. Take at least 30 minutes to move the body (soft music optional) starting with gentle, subtle facial awareness and move this into sensations of heaviness with head, neck and shoulders. Move this into the spine and hips, then into legs and feet. Notice sensations, colors, emotions and thoughts that arise during your “top heavy” exploration. Transition between grounding down and reaching up. Earth and sky are your outer landscapes/surfaces. Cultivate awareness of these “surfaces” while being aware of inner landscapes as well. Take at least five minutes of rest laying on your back (sivasana) to close. Grab your journal and finish these statements: I feel, I see, I imagine. Write an intention for the month to come. Take these verbal images into a creative watercolor painting. Alchemically we are transforming the heaviness of this “head dance” and moving it into something lighter. Wash your sensations and emotions anew with watered down paint and brush strokes. *I have returned from summer holiday and am booking sessions, starting August 12th. If you have already contacted me, I will be in touch shortly to confirm your session. Look for exciting news later this week as I launch my new Expressive Art Therapy/Jyoti offerings! {Weekly horoscopes will resume on Monday the 12th} Add yourself to my newsletter here. 8.2 to 8.4
Moon moves to Gemini at 11:21 CDT on 8.2 and joins Jupiter, Mars and Mercury there. Moon transits Mrgashira, Ardra and Punarvasu nakshatras over the next few days. Moon is in Ardra nakshatra (ruled by Rahu) on 8.3 until the early hours of 8.4. Mars moves to Punarvasu nakshatra at 8:00 CDT on 8.3 which should soften the experience of four planets in Gemini- two of which will be in Ardra, ruled by the storm god Rudra. Movement, change, strong emotions are likely at this time. But look for the silver lining. The underlying positivity and wholeness will be tangible with the influence of Aditi ruling over Mercury and Mars. Note that these four planets receive drishti from Rahu sitting in Libra currently and transiting through Swati nakshtara (Vayu, the wind god). This exemplifies the sudden change, movement, element of surprise, the foreign and unusual as well as the storm energy. Don’t take unnecessary risks and avoid foolish behaviors. As per my last post: Sattva will be tainted by the shadow of Rahu. Don’t fall too far off the wagon. Mercury is sandhi now and moves to Cancer on 8.4 at 10:51 CDT joining Sun there.They receive drishti from Saturn sitting in Libra who is transiting Swati nakshatra. An element of sadness and disappointment may set in and perhaps an overactive mind. Moon joins them in its own sign of Cancer on 8.5 until mid day on 8.7 and may help soften the blow of this combination initially. Stay out of the land mines of the mind if possible and don’t let the mind get too hot. |
