Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
03.06.13 Moon in Purvashada Nakshatra today in Sagitarius, still waning (dark half). Purvashada is ruled by the goddess Apas, the water goddess. Water is a purifier, it represents the internal emotional rivers that flow within us, rejuvenation, cleansing and also love. Apas can help us with our health, as proper amounts of exercise and perspiration can help us create ojas (the byproduct of proper digestion). Movement can also help us digest our emotions that have built up in the body. With the aspect of Saturn on the moon coupled with Apas, today is a good day for movement. Use the physical body to clear the mental/emotional bodies. Walking, yoga, and dance are all good. Today is also an auspicious day for making ghee, churnas (spice mixtures), starting herbal regimens for health, and rejuvenation protocols in general. Take care of your self from the inside out.

Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
03.05.13 Moon in Mula Nakshatra today in Sagittarius. Mula is ruled by Nirrti, the goddess of adharma (against dharma) and her husband is adharma it self. Nirrti has three sons: Bhaya (fear), Mahabhaya (great danger), Antaka (causing death). She goes against Natural Law. Nirrti is a rakshasa (demon) and causes us to suffer when we obey her. Mula's symbol is a bound bunch of roots indicating our ability to be bound by Nirrti's spell, to feel stuck as a result, and shows us where we may literally be suffocated or bound to death her self. She can bring us our awareness, but we have to be willing and able to act in our own defense, to untangle her snares, to perform right action even when it feels impossible. Moon is being aspected by Saturn today, which offers an element of suffering to our emotional, intuitive self. Saturn likes things done in proper order and wants us to be aligned with time (Kali). When we do so, health problems can be prevented. Today, put on pot of kitchari. Walk in the sunshine. Clean out an old closet (literally or metaphorically or both). Face your fears, dangers and demons. See where you are bound. Watch for the resistance of what you know is best for you- that's Nirrti binding you to adharma. When Moon is in Mula, we get these messages more readily- like using a magnifying glass to look at our life. Be your own detective. Moon Mindfulness ::: Mind Your Moon
03. 04. 13 Moon transits Anuradha nakshatra, debilitated in Scorpio. Ruled by Mitra, who loves friendship and fine detail. Mitra is a form of the Sun who relates to friendship and companionship- allies. He helps us when we need assistance and gives us a leg up with our connections in order to help us find success. Mitra does detail work, is always changing and renewing himself, and likes change in scenery. Customer service is natural with Mitra as well as connecting people and connecting with the right people. You may find connecting easy to do today, or you may find your self needing alone time and needing rest. You may also find your interactions prove themselves challenging or heated. Retrograde Mercury moves to Satabisha nakshatra in Aquarius. Mitra and Varuna (who rules Satabisha nakshatra) are the yin and yang of the Sun. Anuradha rules over the day, while Varuna, the night. Mitra protects, while Varuna looks over his shoulder. This current dynamic will stir the mind up. Make you question and negotiate the feelings of your heart. Your mind may talk you out of deep connection. Talk your self out of the mind. Mars sandhi (in the gap and in weak degrees) moves into Pisces. Mars is aspecting Saturn and Rahu in Libra and also Gemini, whose ruler, Mercury, is retrograde. Mercury is conjunct Sun and Venus in Aquarius (ruled by Saturn). There will be some returns, via relationship and otherwise. Some cleanup via the mental and through communication. This month, expect some old situations with people to return and some things that were said to be replaced, restored, finalized, etc. Endings happen. Endings bring new beginnings. 02.20.13 Moon moved into Ardra nakshatra at 6:08 am and is now in Gemini, ruled by Mercury- our mind, communication and memory. Ardra is ruled by the storm god, Rudra, who is known for his anger, power and destructive tendencies. Tears are associated with him, which are indicative of both rain storms as well as the cleansing and purifying that comes with destruction, upheaval and ruin. As he was born of mental anguish, it is good to note that Rudra represents our mental storms, those emotional occurrences that come from the mind (which has much stored memory!) The pain is mental in other words. Though the mind is strong, and can very much get its way with us, it is crucial to sift through the various self-realms: physical, mental/imaginal, emotional, spiritual. In the Expressive Art Therapy work, we consider the mental to be intertwined with the imaginal. This is supported by many other philosophies. It shows us that we create this mental realm and is fed by the imagination; this does not negate it however, it just gives it less power over us. Today, Moon is being aspected by Rahu, Ardra's ruler. Rahu is the imaginal in many ways, since he is just a shadow planet, he isn't even real to begin with. He shows us where worldly fixations are and where we are likely to to "live in the shadows." Watch for it today. See if you can use your detective skills to uncover some of your mental haunts. Likely they will come in the form of an outburst (expressed or unexpressed.) What are the wounds that fester today? What kind of storm is rumbling through? Bring an umbrella. |
