The Surprising Reason You Haven't Reached Your Goals This Year
No matter how much you push or force your body for the results you want, nothing is going to change- if your body says NO.
When your nervous system says it doesn't feel "safe" on some level, your goals will continue to stay a dream.
What is nervous system dysregulation and how does it impact your dharmic path and spiritual business?
A dysregulated nervous system happens as a result of trauma stored in your body.
When unprocessed or unresolved trauma is triggered, it creates a myriad of responses in your body that will impact choices, behaviors, fears, beliefs, action steps and more.
A regulated nervous system feels safe and connected. It allows for clarity, focus, follow-through, energy, enthusiasm, passion, and creativity. Connection, love and nourishment can be given and received.
A dysregulated nervous system feels unsafe and disconnected. It will cause challenges with perception, beliefs, deservability, sabotage, stability, chaos, and dis-ease. Numbing, running away, disassociating, avoiding, and aggression result.
Dharma is your wholeness. Wholeness in body and being. This wholeness is a result of connection, embodiment, and alignment with the light of your soul.
When you are in alignment with your wholeness, a deep sense of trust and safety emerges. Trust in your path, the purpose of your soul, the gifts you are here to share, and the sequential unfoldment of the process.
Trauma and dysregulation do not allow you to fully experience your wholeness, or the light of your own soul, because the body is stuck in fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses.
How does your dysregulated nervous system show up in your body and business?!
Fight:Pushing, forcing, aggression towards your body and others, succeeding and reaching goals at all costs, overrides body signals saying stop or slow down. Eventually leads to burn out- physically, mentally, emotionally, as well as a disconnection with spirit.
Flight: Running away and avoiding challenge or conflict internally and externally, constant change and distraction, too many irons in the fire, unreliable and inconsistent action steps, a lack of follow through. Creates inconsistent results and missed opportunities.
Freeze: Numb, frozen, confused, uncertain, disconnected, abandons and avoids self, body, and goals, feels disempowered and lost, unconsciously resists action steps. Challenges your ability to take action, be a self starter, or get results.
Fawn: People pleaser, leaky boundaries, self-betrayal and abandonment, over giving and over doing- which creates lack of fulfillment, malnourishment and unmet needs. Feels disappointed in self and others, gives up or abandons dreams and desires to support others in their dreams and desires.
Goals don't work if the body says no.
Holding more clients is impossible if your nervous system isn't ready for it.
Increasing your revenue can't happen if it feels unsafe in your body.
Becoming more visible will never feel safe if your nervous system says no.
For more than two years your body has been in a heightened state of threat during the pandemic. Most people are not even considering the impact the last two years has had on their bodies, let alone their businesses- because of heightened nervous system threat responses.
Polyvagal Theory reminds us that when humans are not able to co-regulate and create safety with other humans, the nervous system can't regulate itself. During the pandemic most people were unconsciously in a heightened threat response, unable to fully co-regulate with other humans. On top of threat, most people also experienced major losses, changes, crises, fear, grief, and major unknowns.
As the triggers have stacked and intensified over the past few years, this has activated old trauma patterns stored in the body. Most of us are only now beginning to recognize that life is not moving forward easily or smoothly and the body has been forever changed.
Understanding your default trauma response is crucial for moving forward towards your goals in a very different way now. Without fully honoring your trauma and nervous system reactions, you will not be able to create new pathways of safety and regulation moving forward.
