September begins with Jupiter and Rahu in Aries, retrograde Venus in Cancer, Sun and retrograde Mercury in Leo, Mars in Virgo, Ketu in Libra, and retrograde Saturn in Aquarius.
September Transits: Venus direct in Cancer on the 3rd Jupiter retrograde in Aries on the 4th Mercury direct in Leo on the 15th Sun in Virgo on the 17th Ganesha Chaturthi on September 19th Autumn Equinox (Northern Hemisphere) September 22nd Mercury exalted in Virgo on October 1st Venus in Leo on October 1st
New Moon in Leo and Uttaraphalguni Nakshatra on September 14th at 19:40 MT
Three retrograde planets remain at the time of the new Moon. Jupiter, Mercury and Saturn continue to cause clean up and inward restructuring. Pay attention to body, mind and spirit. What is no longer aligned? Tidy up and simplify your routine, self care, and relationships. Let go and don’t look back.
Uttaraphalguni is the latter half of the Phalguni constellation. This portion of the constellation correlates to the ancestors. It gives powerful, creative life force energy and resources that support and sustain lineage. Aryaman rules this portion of the sky, offering resources like love, marriage, family, children, and that which perpetuates the ancestral line. Life force energy is enlivened here, which brings to life ones desires and helps them arrive into manifest form. What seeds are you planting right now?
The September new Moon enters the first tithi (phase) of the waxing half in the evening of the 14th. Amavasya, or the new Moon, is a seed planting time- ripe with potential and possibility. Release and letting go must take place in order for you to plant your seeds in the cycle to come. What is it that you are letting go of- in preparation for the new? What is ripening for your harvest to come?
The Phalguni constellations are notorious for ripeness, fertility and giving the fruits of your efforts; they are symbolized by a bed- a place of creation, rest, rejuvenation and pleasure. These stars correlate to love, sexuality, sensuality and relationships. Purva phalguni connects more to the lower half of the body, while Uttara phalguni correlates to the upper half of the body as well as the future and lasting results. Fruitful outcomes occur through the Phalguni constellations. It is a powerful time to create contracts that you want lasting support and results from.
In the waxing cycle to come, gather your harvest from the past season. What are you taking with you? What are you leaving behind? What is still digesting and integrating? What are the new needs showing up? What grief are you still carrying that needs to be released and digested?
Movement, expansion and momentum come in the weeks ahead. Make changes that help you align with new nourishment and growth. It’s time to move forward and be bold with your desires. Make sure your actions, choices, words and desires match your long term expectations. What are you moving towards? What needs to be released in order to make room for the new? Where are you holding grief that is clogging the channels and keeping you from deeper receptivity?
Digest, release and integrate grief from the past cycle. This is a cycle of healing and preparation. Don’t move too fast. Slow down and be methodical with your steps- as tempting as it may be to rush. Move towards new nourishment and make room for the new by clearing and releasing the unconscious terrain that keeps you stuck and striving but never arriving. Release the stories of lack that are in your way of abundance and deeper love. Strengthen your inner power and clarity. This is a rebirthing for you.
Ganesha Chaturthi occurs on September 19th this year, the celebrated birth date of Lord Ganesha. Ganesha is the remover of obstacles and brings moksha, release and awakening on one’s path. He supports your ability to see more clearly, to have ease and self realization. He especially loves sweets, though Gulab Jamun is said to be his favorite. Today, honor Ganesha at your altar and honor him for bringing you ease and grace on your path.
For the Northern Hemisphere, the Autumn Equinox occurs on September 22nd at 12:49 am MT. This is the Spring Equinox for the Southern Hemisphere.
In most locations on Earth—except for tropical regions—the start of fall is accompanied by rapidly shortening days. “At any given location, the day-to-day difference in day length is greatest around the days of the equinoxes. Astronomical fall begins on the day of the equinox. The name of the event derives from Latin and means equal night, giving the impression that both day and night are exactly 12 hours long. However, that is not entirely true. In most regions, the day of the equinox is a bit longer than 12 hours.” – Time and Date
Full Moon in Pisces and UttaraBhadra Nakshatra on September 29th at 03:57 am MT
The full Moon arrives in sidereal Pisces just before the month closes out. Jupiter and Saturn remain retrograde, stirring deep inner clean up on the spiritual and physical body level. This is a time of important innovation, new beginnings and relationship clearing. Jupiter continues to move through Bharani nakshatra for the coming months, offering a rebirthing with spiritual matters and healing. Saturn navigates Satabisha nakshatra, insisting on healing layers of the body with depth and precision. Stay awake and listen carefully.
Pisces represents a closing door, and an opening door, as the the final sign of the zodiac. Here, endings and closure take place, while potential prepares to activate. Correlating with the 12th house, Pisces also aligns with the ancestors, the portion of the chart that connects us to the spirit world and those who are not in a body. Uttarabhadrapada is ruled by Ahirbudhnya and symbolized by the back legs of a funeral cot. Endings are provoked and release is inevitable. The bridge between material and spirit worlds is being burned. Deep transformation of life and death is taking place. What are you releasing once and for all? What is dying in your self and your life? What seeds are you planting for new growth?
Ahirbudhnya is the serpent of the underworld. As a Naga (a positive snake, as opposed to the Sarpas which often bring deception) there is great potential for deep, inner work and lasting inner wisdom to arrive. Nagas bring resources and Ahirbudhnya offers a wealth of inner knowledge to arrive- for those who are willing to dive deeply into unconscious and subconscious terrain. You must go beyond the surface to harvest these pearls of wisdom!
The coming waxing cycle provides momentum, yet tension between forward movement and transformation. Desire and determination are strong, but the mental body will feel frustrated, stuck and overwhelmed in the process. Keep moving anyway. Your consistent action steps are vital for progress to be made. Don’t get stuck in the “how” and the minutia of details. Find clear, doable action steps and keep going. Are you getting stuck in the overwhelm and inner drama- which sabotages your success?
Healing can take place in this cycle with creativity and digestion. Your creative process is the key to your transformation and change. Staying stagnant, stuck and resistant to change is not conducive to life force, Shakti and new growth. Though we are still in a powerful uprooting process, you can ease this by surrendering to the release. Resisting will only intensify the pain, hardship and challenges that are surfacing. When a challenge arrives, confront it head on. It’s vital that you stay alert, awake to what needs to be released, removed and let go of right now. Your ability to digest, transform and release consistently and fully, provides a powerful foundation for new seeds to take root and a deeper harvest to arrive in the coming days and months (and years!) ahead. Seek balance- inner and outer- as you move into the new, and as you let go of the old.
Relationships are a big part of this journey of transformation so allow them to be your mirror for growth and change. Some healing is possible with self and with “other” through the cycles ahead. With willingness you can uproot resistance and challenges that have kept you stuck in lack and malnourishment. Get clear on your needs and make these declarations known. Speak clearly and with effectiveness. Your inner clarity will determine the clarity you feel within your relationships, and how you get your needs met on much deeper levels. What do you really need in order to feel safe, grounded, stable and supported? Communicate your deeper needs and vulnerabilities. Let others in and speak your truth.
This waning cycle prepares you for the transformational month ahead. October brings eclipses and a brand new eighteen month cycle of Rahu and Ketu in Pisces and Virgo. Notice the themes arriving.
AUGUST 2023
August begins with Rahu and Jupiter in Aries, Sun in Cancer, retrograde Venus, Mercury and Mars in Leo, Ketu in Libra, Moon in Capricorn, and retrograde Saturn in his own sign of Aquarius.
August Transits: Retrograde Venus returns to Cancer on the 7th Sun in mulitrikona sign of Leo on the 17th Mars in Virgo on the 18th Mercury retrograde in Leo on the 23rd
Full Moon in Capricorn and Sravana Nakshatra on August 1st at 12:32 PM MT
This Sravana full Moon is especially auspicious and sacred. The Vedic holy month of Adhik Maas (which only occurs every three years) continues through mid August. The full Moon that occurs during this sacred month is known as Adhik Maas Purnima. Due to the nature of the lunar and solar calendars, every three years, an extra month is added to the Vedic calendar in order to create harmony. The lunar calendar has 354 days in it, while the solar calendar has 365. Adding an extra month to the calendar every three years rectifies this discrepancy.
Adhik Maas began July 18th and will end on August 16th. A Sravana full Moon occurring during Adhik Maas has not happened in 19 years. This is a very auspicious time for dharmic progress, inner growth, and spiritual awakening. Overcoming obstacles, increased blessings and life improvements can arrive. As with all sacred moments, the benefits increase when you are present, receptive, and aware.
Relationships and all things Venus take center stage for August and September. Sidereal Leo is getting extra focus with Mars, retrograde Venus, and Mercury all transiting this fire sign for an extended period of time. Retrograde Saturn gives his direct gaze. Mercury will also go retrograde at the end of August, stirring even more clean up.
With Saturn and Venus both retrograde and Mercury going retrograde late August, there is essential clean up taking place with your power and the masculine. Women, money, power, beauty, and vitality request your full attention and restructuring. Clean up bad behavior, plug energetic leaks and strengthen boundaries. Where are you wasting life force energy? Who or what is draining your time and energy? Watch for conflicts, burn out, getting over heated and excess anger. What does your anger tell you it needs? Listen carefully.
Vishnu is the god of dharma- that which sustains and maintains order in the universe. The constellation of Shravana is his domain. This nakshatra allows the passing of knowledge and wisdom- usually through sound. In ancient Vedic times, dharma was passed through oral tradition until eventually it became written word. The full Moon and waning cycle ahead supports a powerful surge of strength for your dharmic path.
Are you aligning with your dharma through your choices and actions? Are you moving closer to your passions and purpose, or further away?
Who will listen? I proclaim with uplifted arms, Practice of Dharma leads to Artha (material prosperity) Kama (pleasure of life) and Moksha (liberation from karma), Do not be deaf to my cries! - Vyasa at the conclusion of the Mahabharata
New Moon in Cancer and Ashlesha Nakshatra on August 16th at 03:38 AM MT
The August new Moon arrives just as the sacred bonus month of Adhik Maas closes. This is another powerful moment in the Vedic calendar and a particularly potent new Moon. There is a shedding and release taking place with this new Moon. Pause and listen. Support the transformation process and awaken new dharmic clarity. In the cycle ahead, take action steps that support your new awareness.
Mars shifts into Virgo and Mercury goes retrograde in this waxing cycle. A potent clarifying process begins. Mars in Virgo does not tolerate impurity or lack of cleanliness. Saturn retrograde is already asking you to refine and purify. Mercury retrograde in Leo encourages improvements and upgrades with your power and purpose. Challenges and difficulties are a request to make adjustments and let go of ego attachments. Can this be simplified? How can you make this easier?
Sarpa is the ruling deity of Ashlesha nakshatra. He brings an occult, mystical experience with him- which can also be deceptive and illusory. His snake energy penetrates deeply and likes to go well beyond the surface understanding of life and existence. Sarpa energy is bold, intoxicating and transformational.
Transcendence and awakening are inevitable at this time. How do you go about inciting this change? Sarpa reminds us that from darkness, comes great wisdom- if we are willing to go beyond the mundane, surface level understanding. The opulence of awakening is yours when you take into consideration the many layers of your own power and shadow.
Full Moon in Aquarius and Satabisha Nakshatra on August 30th at 19:35 MT
August offers a second full Moon just before the month closes. Moon conjuncts retrograde Saturn, while Sun conjuncts retrograde Mercury. This full Moon brings mental and emotional pressure and release. There is great healing possible with this full Moon, but it comes with grief and tenderness.
Three retrograde planets create a storm of clean up and inner work around the time of the full Moon. Saturn, Mercury and Venus request relationship restructuring on a mental and physical body level. What needs to be repaired or released? There is a powerful healing process taking place. Lean in and listen. Release, shedding and transformation are awakening right now.
Satabisha nakshatra is a powerful constellation of healing. This full Moon brings an important junction point to your journey of change and transformation. Varuna is the ruling deity of this portion of the sky. He rules Natural Law and sustains it through seeing everything- dishing out consequences for that which goes against the highest Laws of the Universe. Said to have "thousands of eyes", Varuna sees all actions, choices and behaviors. This gives him great wisdom, and allows him to be a great healer as well- as he can eradicate the root cause of disease. Sometimes Varuna is considered the king of kings for this reason as he rules over Natural Law, Universal Law, or Rta. Lakshmi and Soma are Varuna's children. Both offer the blessings, healing gifts and miracles that are required to transform the disdain and displeasure of Varuna's watchful gaze. This full Moon is an excellent beginning and fresh start- especially for healing purposes. Disease that begins under Satabisha is extremely difficult to heal, so being extra diligent with routine, diet and life style choices are nonnegotiable in the cycle ahead. This is an excellent time to start your fall cleanse, follow Ayurvedic guidelines more closely, get more rest, exercise and meditate regularly. Use self care in the days ahead and hit reset. If you've been falling far away from a healthy routine and choices, now is the time to reel it back in and realign with more structure for building immunity and inner strength. The cure for the critical gaze of this constellation is increasing nourishment, resources, support and vitality. This comes from simplicity, ease and gentleness- not force or punishment. Let this be a reminder for your healing actions and choices as you realign with your inner truth and inner knowing.
The symbol of Satabisha is a drum or a circle, which reminds us of the healing power of this constellation, as well as containment and boundaries. There is inner and outer, self and other, inside and out. The sacred drum keeps time, supports our alignment with the universal rhythm and helps call us home to our own heart beat. Use the coming cycle to recommit to yourself, your own drum beat. Keep life simple, steady and slow. Find your pulse, find your rhythm. Let nature and her wisdom support your realignment.
Where do you need to simplify and reconnect with your own inner knowing? Where are you getting lost, erratic and creating difficulty? What challenges are asking you to look more closely and reevaluate your choices and actions? How is your inner critic keeping you from the nourishment you seek?
Use the coming cycle to come home to yourself and set the intention of healing your body, mind, emotions and spirit. Ask for guidance and seek out new resources where you see holes in your support team. Honoring your inner wisdom and truth is dharma. There is no other path.
JULY 2023
*Artist unknown
July begins with Jupiter and Rahu in Aries, Sun and Mercury in exact conjunction in Gemini, Venus in Cancer, Mars in Leo, Ketu in Libra, Moon debilitated in Scorpio, Saturn in his own sign of Aquarius.
July Transits:
Guru Purnima on the 2nd Venus in Leo on the 7th Mercury in Cancer on the 8th Sun in Cancer on the 17th Venus retrograde in Leo on the 22nd Mercury in Leo on the 24th
Full Moon in Sagittarius and Purvashada Nakshatra On July 3rd at 05:38 am MT + Guru Purnima
This auspicious full Moon arrives in the early morning with Moon in PurvAshada nakshatra. Guru Purnima is considered the fullest full Moon of the year in the Vedic calendar and highly sacred. Dedicated to honoring teachers, guides and gurus, this powerful full Moon brings the blessings of divine, pure knowledge and the support of the sacred. Honor teachers, gurus and your lineage with this full Moon. Bring offerings to your altar and gratitude for the nourishment of dharma on the path.
Mars has left his two month debilitation in Cancer and entered fiery and focused Leo. Expect a surge of motivation, action taking and enthusiasm. Mercury's short lived transit through his own sign of Gemini brings focus, financial support, and imagination. Capture this moment of creative power.
Moon is in Purvashada nakshatra and Sagittarius at the time of the new Moon. This constellation is ruled by Apas, the water goddess, and is considered fierce- supporting harsh actions, choices and decisions. Venus rules this portion of the sky, which aligns with relationships, creativity, the feminine and life force energy. Since Apas is the ruling deity, the inner waters, health and vitality are a powerful part of this stars' expression.
Movement arrives, through flowing, fluidity and waves. This can be gentle or severe. What is your relationship with your inner waters? With the water ways of life? Symbolized by the tusk of an elephant, there is a connection with overcoming obstacles within this constellation. Find triumph with the support of Lord Ganesha, the remover of great difficulties on the path to enlightenment.
Use the coming cycle to transform challenges into resources, pain into healing, darkness into light. Allow yourself to be washed clean. Purify, awaken, seek transformation and renewal through the emotional body. Spend ample time in water, near water, surrounded by water. Detox gently, supporting release and letting go, while using your inner waters as a resource for this process. Allow your inner waters to wash your heart clean- which will be supported through tears and purging emotions.
Clear and organize your home space, the outer temple. Bring more sattva (purity) to your environment. Allow Spirit to be a resource for gathering clarity, wisdom and support while setting intentions for your health, life and soul's purpose for the coming months and year.
There is great nourishment in the coming cycle, but it arrives with your release and letting go. The blessings and gifts will come when you let go of the objectives and shadows that undermine your clarity, purpose and inner knowing. Gather resources, support and guidance in the weeks to come. Seek counseling and individual resources to move beyond the old, stuck and worn out patterns that keep you locked in struggle and pain. It is your time to grow, rise from the mud. Reach up and out, extend your reach. This can be a time of great blossoming, if you prune some branches in order to allow the new growth to emerge.
Full Moon Creative Ritual:
1) Using craypas, paints or pencils, create an image of your nourishment. What does nourishment feel like for you? Create an image that expresses this feeling using colors, textures and shapes. Allow 20 minutes at minimum for this nourishment image. Title your image.
2) Use your image to inspire a movement exploration. Let your body move in response to your nourishment image with an intention of "moving with your feelings of nourishment". What sensations emerge for you during your dance? What awareness? Allow 5 to 10 minutes for this movement exploration. I encourage you to extend this time frame as you recycle this process.
3) Harvesting. In your journal answer these questions: I am, I want, I need, I sense, I feel, I imagine.
What deeply nourishes me? What no longer nourishes me? Where do I feel support in my life? Where do I need more support? What am I opening to? What am I closing to?
New Moon in Cancer and Punarvasu Nakshatra On July 17th at 12:32pm MT
Just as the new Moon arrives, Sun and Moon enter Cancer. Moon loves being in this water sign and Sun expresses his nurturing qualities here. This is a gentle and soft new Moon that is requesting more nourishment and more contentment in life. Awaken your restful softness and receive the goodness of life.
The July new Moon in Gemini and Punarvasu nakshatra awakens the desire for universality, new resources and support. Ruling deity, Aditi, is often referred to as the "mother of all goodness". She birthed 33 Devas. Of these children, 12 were Adityas- powerful allies for resources, material support, wisdom and guidance. She is the expression of expanded awareness, the mother in all things, the foundation of the universe and nonduality. She awakens and supports the awareness of oneness, non-difference, sama or the equinamity of the mind. Aditi gave birth to Vishnu himself, the ultimate sustaining force that upholds dharma. The bounty and blessings of Aditi will awaken and expand possibilities and potential for you. She is limitless, formless, unbounded, non-dual abundance that is the foundation for all nourishment in this life.
Where are you in right relationship with the nourishment in your life? What is feeling supportive, nourishing and bountiful? Where are you disconnected or resisting nourishment, abundance and support? What resources and guidance are missing on your path?
Use this new Moon to crack open the parts of you in lack and malnourishment. Attend to your grief and emotional body. Honor and acknowledge the needs that are not being met in your life and your relationships. Dig deeper into your struggle and hardship. Does it really have to be so hard? Where are you making it harder than it needs to be? When you are truly willing to face your shadow and honor its gifts, will you be able to make space for and allow new possibilities to arrive. Ask for what you need and gather the resources and support that will make it possible.
JUNE 2023
June begins with Rahu, Jupiter and Mercury in Aries, Sun in Taurus, Mars and Venus in Cancer, Ketu and Moon in Libra, Saturn in his own sign of Aquarius.
June Transits:
Mercury in Taurus on the 7th Sun in Gemini on the 15th Saturn retrograde in Aquarius on the 17th Summer Solstice on the 21st Mercury in own sign of Gemini on the 24th Mars in Leo on the 30th
Full Moon in Scorpio and Jyeshtha Nakshatra On June 3rd at 21:41 MT
At the time of the full Moon, Venus has newly entered Cancer with debilitated Mars. This full Moon brings clearing and restructuring from the depths. Be prepared for shadow work and emotional release. Moon is debilitated with this full Moon. Turn inward, tend to your emotional darkness, and purge undigested grief.
Jyestha is the king of the devas, or sattvic god qualities within you. His weapon is a thunderbolt and he rules over all weather that involves water and rain. Essentially, Indra is prana, life force energy. To control your prana, is to control your life. This also supports sensory control and becoming your own master of body, emotions, and mind. Indra can give you the power to control your body, your life, your life force. He wants you to have control over your self and your life and he can go about that in harsh ways.
Indra and this portion of the sky supports thorough investigation through knowledge and wisdom. He does things fully and with passion. There is no half way with him. Dive in completely or don’t bother at all. He does everything with devotion and selfless service. Offer your efforts to the highest good, to dharma.
Is your path serving you? Are you fulfilled? What needs to change, shift, transform in order for you to feel the nourishment? Where are you skimming the surface when you should be exploring the depths? Are you being excessive, rather than precise? What steps can you take towards mastery and authenticity?
New Moon in Gemini and Mrigashirsha Nakshatra On June 17th at 22:37 MT
This complex new Moon arrives with retrograde Saturn. Deep clean up begins! The Vata planet of grief and structure will be requesting innovation and restructuring.
Saturn retrogrades for five months in Aquarius, starting on June 17th. He won't go direct until November 4th. This is an important time to clean up grief, structure, support, systems, and your dharmic offerings. Saturn doesn't tolerate excess or messiness so clean up the disorder in your life and start simplifying! Wherever Aquarius is located in your chart will indicate the specific type of clean up you will be doing.
All retrograde planets are asking us to pay closer attention and attend to parts of ourselves and our lives that are challenged or imbalanced. What needs to change in order for you to feel more nourished in your life? Mrigashirsha nakshatra falls in Taurus and is ruled by the personification of Moon, the god Soma. From a Vedic perspective, the Moon is Soma itself, the divine nectar of life. From an Ayurvedic perspective, staring at a full Moon will allow you to soak up Soma directly and the Moon glow can even heal your eyes. A drink of Moon's Soma supports longevity, vitality and life force. The qualities of this constellation directly support increased Soma- on all levels of life. Soma is lord of the plants, giving them healing and nourishing qualities which are most potent in the waxing cycle.
Symbolically, the constellation of Mrigashirsha correlates to the deer and its antlers. Traditionally, deer antlers were ground into a fine powder and used as an aphrodisiac. The quality of the deer and its antlers is constant movement and growth, branching out, extending, finding new green grass, new food sources, more abundance. Mrigashirsha is a soft, gentle constellation with fickle and changeable inclinations just like the Moon and the deer.
This new Moon and the waxing cycle ahead supports new growth, branching out, extending beyond your comfort zone and moving towards the new. Stagnation is a certain death for anyone born with this constellation placed prominently in their chart. A reminder to move in a new direction in the cycle ahead with conscious intention.
Use this cycle to focus and align with your path, purpose and the direction you want to move in. Take action steps and be clear with your intention. Move in a life supportive direction. One that honors your growth, health, vitality and deepest desires. Look for and seek out opportunities that increase your nourishment. Open up new channels and pathways that support life. Expand and branch out.
Are you moving in a direction that supports your nourishment? Where are you moving closer to your joy? Where are you moving further away from it? Where do you need to change direction or find a new path?
Summer Solstice (Northern Hemisphere) occurs on June 21st at 08:57 am MDT. In the Northern Hemisphere, this is the longest day of the year in terms of daylight. In the Southern Hemisphere, on the other hand, it is the shortest day of the year and is known as the Winter Solstice.
Solstice comes from the Latin words sol, meaning Sun and sistere, meaning to come to a stop or stand still. On the day of the June Solstice, the Sun reaches its northernmost position, as seen from the Earth. At that moment, its zenith does not move north or south as during most other days of the year, but it stands still at the Tropic of Cancer. It then reverses its direction and starts moving south again. The opposite happens during the December Solstice. Then, the Sun reaches its southernmost position in the sky - Tropic of Capricorn - stands still, and then reverses its direction towards the north.
For those of us in the Northern hemisphere, the light of life force is at its strongest point of the year. This is a powerful time of growth, empowerment, clarity, and focus for the cycles ahead. Strengthen and feed your inner power and move towards that which strengthens your body and purpose.
This is a potent time to take stock of your life, your actions and choices. Think of it like a tipping point. What direction are you moving in? Are you actively moving towards your desires and life purpose? What shifts and changes need to take place in order to align with your inner light, your souls offering in this life time?
May 2023
May begins with Jupiter, Rahu, Sun exalted, and retrograde Mercury all in Aries, Venus in own sign of Taurus, Mars in Gemini, Moon in Leo, Ketu in Libra, Saturn in own sign of Aquarius.
May Transits
Venus in Gemini on May 2nd Narasimha Jayanti on May 3rd Buddha Jayanti on May 5th Mercury direct in Aries on May 14th Mars debilitated in Cancer on May 10th Sun in Taurus on May 15th Sani Jayanti May 19th Venus in Cancer on May 30th
Full Moon in Libra and Vishaka Nakshatra + Penumbral Lunar Eclipse On May 5th at 11:34 am MT
This full Moon in Libra closes the two week eclipse cycle with a penumbral lunar eclipse. It is also the celebrated birthday of Lord Buddha. At the time of the full Moon, the axis of Aries and Libra intensifies. The shadow work you've been facing over the past two weeks comes to a climax. Relationships, boundaries, and the reflection of "other" will cause challenges. Watch for the critic, self sabotage, and self loathing. Power and self worth are delicate in this process. Clean up the mind and stay connected to body and breath.
Vishaka nakshatra is ruled by the dual god, Indragni. Indra is the king of the gods, while Agni is the priest. Both rely on each other and are dependent on each other's skills and resources. One can not function without the other. The king relies on spiritual support from the priest, whereas the priest relies on the king's financial resources. Both are extremely powerful, yet their power doubles when they work together.
Agni is the fire of life, the powerful transformational energy of change, release and healing. Agni brings new life through digestion and assimilation. He connects us to the mouth, the portal of nourishment, where food is transformed into body and flesh. Agni supports the transformation of our offerings at the altar, in order for our gifts to be received by Spirit and the ancestors.
Vishaka nakshatra reminds us that two heads are better than one, that support and relationships are vital for life. This constellation also places an emphasis on duality and the need for integrating opposing forces. Differences can in fact be resources, rather than challenges that set us apart.
How can you integrate opposing forces within you? Where are you in conflict with the illusion of difference and separateness? What inner conflicts are enlivened right now? What battles are you waging- against yourself and others?
There is a duality present with this portion of the sky, but also a co-creation process. This is a powerful time to strengthen alliances, support systems, grow your team, and gather more guidance for your path. No one succeeds alone! This constellation is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we join forces with supportive guidance.
Even more important is the integration and balance of duality, and opposing forces. The need for harmony of both material and spiritual realms will strengthen at this time. Strengthen the ability to harmonize spiritual and material desires.
Are you honoring both equally? Do you have guidance for both spiritual and material realms? Are you integrating spiritual and physical bodies intentionally? Where are you imbalanced or lop-sided?
This full Moon closes the two week eclipse cycle that began on April 19th with the Aries new Moon. This penumbral lunar eclipse will directly impact Europe, Africa, and the South pacific. It is not visible from North America. The eclipse begins at 09:14 am Mountain Time and will end at 13:31 Mountain Time on May 5th. The maximum eclipse will be at 11:22 am Mountain Time.
From a Vedic perspective, it is not advised to be outside during an eclipse or to look directly at the eclipse. Wear a head covering if you have to be outside so you don't absorb the shadow. Ideally, this is a time for spiritual practices such as meditation, chanting and fasting. Set intentions and honor the sensitivity of this time. It is also widely recognized that during and between eclipses, starting new endeavors will not bring positive results. No new projects, relationships or activities should start until after the eclipse portal closes. Notice what needs are arriving, then take action after the eclipse portal closes. Best to lay low, attend to spiritual pursuits, get extra rest and work with your inner shadow very consciously during this cycle.
In the days following the eclipse, you will likely notice a release, purging and clearing taking place. Expect some break through or new awareness to emerge. The clouds will part, the veil will lift, and the shadow will lessen. This is an important time to pay attention to needs that are surfacing and refocus. It's time for a life upgrade! Where are you playing small, or allowing victim behavior to disempower you? Release the lack, uncertainty and resistance to change. What steps can you take to move closer to your dreams, goals and desires?
New Moon in Taurus and Krittika Nakshatra On May 19th at 09:53 am MT
This is a powerful new Moon with a strong expression of the Moon in its favorite sign of Taurus. Moon is considered in mulitrikona degrees at the time of the empty Moon. Well placed and able to express itself at 75%, Moon loves being in Krittika and Taurus. This may bring a sense of big emotions even though the tide is low with the dark Moon. Something is clearing and releasing. Endings, losses, cutting away the excess and burning impurities are a natural part of this cycle. Mercury is now direct, Mars is debilitated and Jupiter has gained strength by degrees. You may get pulled into the depths with this new Moon. Stay close to shore and don't swim alone.
A mixture of outcomes can occur with this portion of the sky. Agni rules this constellation. He supports transformational fire that supports life- in body and Nature. Fire removes excess and transforms matter into new forms. In this process of purification and clearing away excess, what remains is only the essential.
This constellation supports purification through fire and it has a razer sharp exactness that allows for precision, clarity and focus. Fire is one of the most powerful resources available to humans. From a healing perspective, fire supports the transformation process, allowing new form, shape and possibilities to arrive, instrumental in the alchemy of change and awakening. Agni is the spark that lights the fire. He lives in your body and supports the digestion process- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Without Agni there is no life possible. Agni is a potent reminder of the importance of fire in all parts of life and vitality.
Use this time to get clear, focused and aligned with your truth, power and purpose. Clear away the excess on all levels of life. If it doesn’t support dharma, get rid of it. Wherever there is excess that is not life supportive, you will be asked to purge it. Be prepared for loss, release and letting go in this cycle. Stay connected to your truth, inner wisdom, the light within. Let this light lead the way and don’t lose your focus. Simplify your life and let go of what no longer serves your highest potential.
What is essential for your life path and purpose? What is in the way of your dharmic focus? What needs to be cut and cleared so you have space for your purpose and passion? Are you hiding behind the excess?

Full Moon in Virgo and Hasta Nakshatra On April 5th at 22:34 MT
April is a full month of big transits, centered predominantly around Aries. New beginnings, fresh starts, and transformation arrive. Expect big movements, unexpected changes, and an eclipse cycle to intensify the shifts. As Sun enters Aries on the 14th, the Vedic New Year officially begins. Set intentions, get clear, focus on desires, action steps, and getting new results.
At the time of the full Moon, Venus is sandhi at the edge of Aries, conjunct Rahu and Mercury. Rahu and Mercury are in tight conjunction creating mental confusion and intensity. Saturn gives his gaze asking for simplicity and structure. This is a good time to meditate, breathe deeply, and eat a simple diet with extra greens. The Full Moon in Virgo (ruled by Mercury) increases the need for mental support at this time. Stay grounded. Get out of mind and into body.
Virgo represents the sixth house of the zodiac, which has to do with conflict, healing and debts. It can also bring support, alliances and companionship through animals, as well as overcoming enemies. Virgo is precise, meticulous and often very critical. Ruled by Mercury, Virgo tends to stay in the mental body and needs reminders to sense and feel in a more embodied way.
This full Moon will require you to focus on healing and awakening as Hasta nakshatra brings the dawning, the light. In the days ahead, stay out of the mind and get into the body. Speak, communicate and express. Find your words and let them awaken you and others.
Hasta nakshatra is ruled by the deity Savitr, the god of dawn. The sliver of light that arrives on the eastern horizon just before sunrise is his domain. He offers hope and vision through his illumination. This portion of the dawn is particularly potent, magical and powerful. It navigates the liminal realms, the netherworlds- neither worldly nor entirely spiritual, but both.
Savitr brings the light to us in this coming cycle so get ready to wake up! His bright light brings consciousness, evolution and enlightenment. This will require a willingness to see, notice and look- even if you don't want to. Notice the spectrum of your inner landscape. Honoring emotions, thoughts and unconscious grief will support your healing and transformation process. It will be impossible not to see the light in the cycle ahead. When the darkness is touched by the light, the darkness vanishes. Savitr brings light and awakening whether you want it or not.
Hands come alive under Hasta nakshatra. Let them be a guide, a resource and a support for your healing process. There is some magic in the hands asking you to look more closely. What are your hands saying to you? What do they need?
Use Gayatri Mantra to enliven the light and wisdom of Savitr in the coming days. Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ tát savitúr váreṇ(i)yaṃ bhárgo devásya dhīmahi dhíyo yó naḥ pracodáyāt
The April full Moon takes place with Hanuman Jayanti, celebrated birth day of Lord Hanuman, the beloved monkey god. He and his monkey army saved Sita from the wrathful demon, Ravana, and brought her home safely to Ayodhya and Lord Raam. Hanuman is a Rudra- meaning he has immense strength, power and sheer force available to him. This strength was given to him by Vayu, the wind god- father to both Bhima and
Hanuman. Hanuman reminds us of righteous action and that we must use our power and strength for conquering evil and restoring balance- while always upholding dharma. His devotion to Lord Rama expresses deep bhakti, and the power of leading with the heart. Your true strength is your heart wisdom.
Navaratri has ended now. This is the time of year when Sun completes a year long cycle around the zodiac and activates a brand new solar cycle. Sun entered Aries on April 14th, arriving in Ashwini nakshatra and his sign of exaltation. The Sun is the center of our solar system. He rules over the light cycles and natural rhythms. He brings the dawn, the day, the growth that comes from his life light.
As Sun enters his most powerful placement of the zodiac, a fresh start and powerful beginning takes place. This Sun transit activates a new year in the Vedic calendar and the immense power of the Sun offers a surge of new energy and strength. This is a wonderful time to cleanse the body, mind and spirit. Clean, clear and purge the heaviness of the past year and clear away the undigested emotions lingering. Create space for the new and burn away the excess. Clean up your diet, take time to rejuvenate, and clarify your focus and direction in life.
Although Sun is at his strongest and considered exalted in Aries, this year he collides with Rahu at the same time. Unfortunately we won't get the full potency of this transit as a results. Instead of a strong sense of self, you may notice self doubt and disempowerment emerge. Confusion and uncertainty with your power and purpose may bring challenges. Instead of making bold decisions, focus on your soul nourishment. Confusion points to parts within yourself that need your attention. Linger here and listen carefully. Ask for support and avoid conflicts.
New Moon in Aries and Ashwini Nakshatra On April 19th at 22:13 MT
This new Moon arrives with complex transits and an eclipse cycle. Sun has newly entered exaltation in his strongest sign of Aries, however, he must navigate the shadows of Rahu while emotions (Moon) and mind (Mercury) get his excess heat. Jupiter is sandhi at the edge of Pisces, closing out a twelve year dharmic cycle. Emotions and mind may feel burn out, confusion, and overwhelm. Stay close to body and focus on renewal, rest, clarifying and cleansing the body.
At the time of the new Moon, Sun, Moon, and Rahu are all transiting Ashwini nakshatra. The constellation of Ashwini supports healing and greater inner wisdom to arrive. Clear space for this wisdom by releasing and letting go of stagnation, undigested emotions and mental clutter. This is an ideal cycle to attend to the physical body and wellness practices. Start your spring or fall cleanse at the time of the new Moon and jump start your healing process in the weeks ahead.
The Ashwini Kumara twins rule the first constellation of the zodiac, Ashwini. This dynamic duo are Ayurvedic doctors who can support powerful healing within the body. They awaken creativity, spark new life and enliven rejuvenation so new life can arrive. They rule over all the healing arts- resources that support increased life force energy. The more life force within, the more vitality and strength experienced within the physiology. Allow the support of the Ashwini Kumaras to help you restore balance, integration and wellness in the cycle ahead. The symbol of Ashwini is a horse head. Horses represent power, strength, endurance and vitality. Working with horses and riding horses requires clarity, focus and a strong will, as well as willingness to be touched by horse medicine. Ashwini expresses the ability to strengthen ourselves and heal like the mighty horse. Horses are known to create an anti-venom which literally and metaphorically expresses the ability to ward off evil, poison and snakes. The coming cycle can support greater strength and vitality- in body, mind, emotions and spirit. Spend time with horses and watch them carefully for healing insights.
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, while Ashwini is the first constellation of all twenty seven nakshatras. The arrival of this new Moon brings beginnings with it. As with all openings, there is also closing, release and letting go. Are you attending to losses and release? Are you allowing for the letting go? What grief needs to be purged and has yet to be honored? Where are you skipping over your closing ritual?
Ashwini is one of three gandantas. Gandantas are points in the zodiac between water signs and fire signs (Pisces/Aries, Cancer/Leo, Scorpio/Sagittarius). These points are notorious for causing immense upheaval, as deeply rooted knots within your being get released.
Ashwini, Mula and Magha are nakshatras situated in these powerful gaps that trigger immense change processes to take place. These nakshatras are also ruled by Ketu, a non planet notorious for sudden release, forced letting go and remarkable changes. His goal is to support your moksha, liberation, to release you from your attachments.
Gandantas are door openers. They are portals of the in-between. Neither here nor there. Due to their nature of uprooting, they can cause a sense of ungroundedness and sudden, painful loss. You may be noticing a lack of footing, clarity and purpose. Much uncertainty is arriving right now- mentally, spiritually and physically. You may be feeling uncertainty in the spiritual, mental and physical bodies as a result.
This new Moon opens an intense two week eclipse portal. Solar eclipses tend to intensify our relationship with power, the masculine, authorities, and purpose. Confront undigested emotions, fear, resistance and inner conflict directly. Likely your personal mythology will be intensifying at this time so you can clean up any shadows that are keeping you in the dark. Pay attention to what is emerging from your depths.
This solar eclipse opens a two week cycle of intense shadow work. Eclipses intensify everything and tend to make mountains out of mole hills- so we can see what we have been avoiding or negating within the unconscious realms. Stay positive and look for solutions rather than focusing on the darkness, but do not bypass the necessary inner work that you are being asked to show up for right now. This is a powerful time to address inner shadows head on and release inner blockages that you've been overlooking.
Your willingness to honor your big emotions will support their release. Stay present and willing to be with your challenging parts. There is something trying to push through and come to the surface. Are you listening? What needs to change? Your emotional body waves are asking for more nourishment. Be willing to support the release so that you have space for more of what you truly want and need. The solar eclipse begins on April 19th at 19:34 pm and will end on April 20th at 12:59 am.
A reminder that this opens a two week cycle that is not good for starting new projects, new endeavors, or relationships. Emotions tend to intensify during eclipses and shadows are much stronger. You may have been less clear and focused the past few weeks. Let the shadows clear over the coming days before making big decisions. Challenges often intensify so we can see them more clearly and make the necessary changes that will support new growth. This can be a time of immense inner transformation if used properly.
Although this eclipse is not visible from the Northern Hemisphere, from a Vedic perspective, it is not advised to be outside during an eclipse- or to look directly at the eclipse taking place. No new projects, relationships or activities should start in the eclipse portal. Notice what needs are arriving, then take action after the eclipse portal closes. Best to lay low, attend to spiritual pursuits, get extra rest and work with your inner shadow very consciously during this cycle.
This is a powerful time to honor your emotional body wisdom and confront your inner shadows. Make necessary changes in your actions and choices. Release negative thought patterns, behaviors and inner dialogue that is keeping you stuck in patterns and cycles of lack. Clear, release and let go so that you have even more space for your deepest nourishment.
The most auspicious day of the year is April 22nd, Akshaya Tritiya. Both Sun and Moon are exalted. It is said that only positive outcomes can emerge on this day and that there can be no harm. All actions will be fruitful and yield positive results. Luck, success and powerful results occur when you align with the strength of this day. Plan accordingly. This is a powerful day to take action steps towards your biggest desires and highest truth. Use this day for important dharmic action steps. Nature will be ready to support you!

Full Moon in Leo and PurvaPhalguni Nakshatra On March 7th @ 05:40 am MT
At the time of the full Moon, high tide gets extra charged by multiple planets giving drishti, or gaze, to the Moon. Mercury, Sun, and Saturn look directly at the Moon, causing heat and pressure. Mars and Rahu give their gaze as well, adding intense emotion. This full Moon requests patience, however, the impulse will be to move swiftly with the big waves. There is a very strong creativity activating at this time- so be intentional with your focus.
Purvaphalguni invites increased creativity and sensuality in the cycle ahead. There is strong desire, empowerment and attention to relationships surfacing. Clear away emotional debris and make space for gains and advancements in your feeling center, the heart. As you clarify goals and intentions, make sure you are also being diligent with the action steps necessary to accomplish them. Watch for overdoing, pushing, and forcing- as well as imbalance with action and rest. Allow for leisure, increased pleasure, nourishment and ease, but be mindful of overindulgence. Cravings are rooted in the shadow.
What darkness is not being attended to with honesty and courage? Where can you let go and find more surrender? Where are you pushing and forcing, creating imbalance and incongruence?
Purvaphalguni nakshatra is ruled by Bhaga, the god of pleasure, comforts and commodities. He gives excess, abundance and juiciness. Sensuality and sexuality come naturally as a result of his gifts and influence. Manifestation is enlivened with his life force energy.
This constellation is like the nectar that bees flock to, expressing a spring-like quality with plenty of blossoms. The sap is flowing, the bees are buzzing and the flowers are blooming! Can you feel it? Beauty and potential comes alive within this portion of the sky. Relationships are energized and strengthened with the influences of this constellation. Plant your seeds of desire, expand your dreams and focus on the bigger picture.
Maybe it's time to ask for what you really want and need? Where are you receiving less than what you deserve? What is keeping you from rising and growing? Where are you resisting your power and greater purpose?
Don't settle for less than the best. Ask Nature to support your clarity and vision. Think bigger and be clear about your desires. Get focused and expand your reach. Use creative resources to awaken your life force energy. Make art! Dance and sing! Celebrate yourself!
Meet new people, start new relationships, enliven the ones you already have. Allow more sensuality and sexuality into your life and let your life force energy flow more fully. Spend time receiving and remember your gratitude.
Where do you feel abundant already? Where do you need more? Remember that getting the support you need and being able to receive, will strengthen your results. We don't succeed alone- ever! Gather who and what you need for growth.
The Vedic celebration of Holi often roughly coincides with the vernal equinox and the arrival of spring (for the Northern Hemisphere and fall for the Southern Hemisphere). Holi arrives with the full Moon this year, while the Vernal Equinox will close out the month on March 30th. Holi is a Vedic fertility celebration which sparks immense creative life force energy. Potential, possibility and creative power are enlivening. Step into your Divine Feminine power! Ask your ancestors to guide you with the process of creating and manifesting your desires.
"On the equinox, night and day are nearly the same length – 12 hours – all over the world. This is the reason it's called an “equinox”, derived from Latin, meaning “equal night.” However, in reality, equinoxes don't have exactly 12 hours of daylight. Earth's axis is tilted at an angle of about 23.4° in relation to the ecliptic plane, the imaginary plane created by the Earth's path around the Sun. On any other day of the year, either the Southern Hemisphere or the Northern Hemisphere tilts a little towards the Sun. But on the two equinoxes, the tilt of the Earth's axis is perpendicular to the Sun's rays."- Time and Date
No matter the hemisphere you are in, both spring and fall are considered "sandhi" times of year- or in between seasons. These are sacred times, when the veil is thin and sensitivity is heightened. From an Ayurvedic perspective, we attend to necessary physical rituals that help the body cleanse and purify.
Holi comes at this sacred junction and is a time to "plant seeds" so to speak. It is a celebration of fertility, abundance and the awakening of Shakti within Nature. The full enlivening of the Divine Feminine, is celebrated during Chaitra Navaratri- the nine days of Mother Divine- which begins on March 22nd this year. Consider Holi the "kick off" fertility celebration. Use this time to plant your seeds of desire. Honor the sense of spring and possibility, hope and awakening. Divine abundance abounds!
New Moon in Pisces and UttaraBhadra Nakshatra On March 21st @ 11:24 MT
Moon collides with Sun, Jupiter and Mercury during the new Moon. Jupiter is closing out his year long transit through his most balanced sign- which we won't see again for another twelve years. Debilitated Mercury requests deep introspection and insight with communication, creativity, money and connection. Rahu and Venus are in exact degrees in Aries at the time of this new Moon, creating potential for wild excess or ungrounded confusion in the realms of wealth, vitality, love, and relationship.
Relationships are volatile and require patience and care at this time. Highs and lows are activated. Overwhelm and confusion arrive in full force. Do not make long term decisions at this time. Wait until the waters calm down and mind is stronger after April 1st.
Pisces represents a closing door, and an opening door, as the the final sign of the zodiac. Here, endings and closure take place, while potential and the new are enlivened.
Don't get stuck in the "how" and the minutia of details. Find clear, doable action steps and keep going. Are you getting stuck in the overwhelm and inner drama which sabotages your success?
Healing can take place in this cycle with creativity and digestion. Your creative process is the key to your transformation and change. Staying stagnant, stuck and resistant to change is not conducive to life force, Shakti, and new growth. Though we are still in a powerful uprooting process, you can ease this by surrendering to the release. Resisting will only intensify the pain, hardship and challenges that are surfacing.
When a challenge arrives, confront it head on. It's vital that you stay alert and awake to what needs to be released, removed and let go of right now. Your ability to digest, transform and release consistently and fully, provides a powerful foundation for new seeds to take root and a deeper harvest to arrive in the coming days and months (and even years) ahead. Seek balance- inner and outer- as you move into the new, and as you let go of the old.
Relationships are a big part of this journey of transformation so allow them to be your mirror for growth and change. Some healing is possible with self and with "other" through the cycles ahead. With willingness you can uproot resistance and challenges that have kept you stuck in lack and malnourishment. Get clear on your needs and make these declarations known. Speak clearly and with effectiveness. Your inner clarity will determine the clarity within your relationships, and how you get your needs met on much deeper levels. What do you really need in order to feel safe, grounded, stable and supported? Communicate your deeper needs and vulnerabilities. Let others in and speak your truth.
With this new Moon, the spring celebration of Navaratri arrives, opening the deep transformation process taking place within Nature. This celebration of the Divine Mothers ends with Ram Navami, the birth date of Lord Rama. Chaitra Navaratri begins on March 22nd and will end on March 30th.
During the nine day and night Navaratri celebration, the battle between light and dark forces enlivens. This battle between light and dark, good and bad, masculine and feminine, transformation and healing, is taking place within all beings at this sacred junction point. It is a time to heal and integrate polarities within.
The Navaratri celebration is an expression of what is taking place within Nature, through the Laws that govern Nature, marking an important transition within our own bodies. These important junction points (know as a gap, or sandhi in Sanskrit) happen multiple times a year, however, Chaitra Navaratri is considered one of the most powerful. This is an awakening of life for the Northern Hemisphere.
Align with Nature and Her powerful energy of change and transformation during Navaratri. Ritualize your connections with Nature- in order to land more closely into your own inner wisdom, to Her wisdom. Strengthen your connection to Self and Spirit.
February begins with Rahu in Aries, Mars and Moon in Taurus, Ketu in Libra, Mercury in Sagittarius, Sun in Capricorn, Saturn in his own sign of Aquarius, Venus in Aquarius, and Jupiter in his own sign of Pisces.
February Transits: Mercury in Capricorn on the 6th Sun in Aquarius on the 13th Venus exalted in Pisces on the 15th Maha Shivaratri on the 18th
Full Moon in Cancer and Ashlesha Nakshatra On February 5th at 11:28 MT
The nature of this full Moon is shedding and releasing. Transformation comes swiftly with the big lunar energy of this Cancer full Moon. Emotions are strong and extra big so ride the waves with intention. You may feel extra clear, focused, and inspired to change your relationships at this time. Follow through and be intentional. New beginnings are yours, but you'll need to let something heavy go. It's time to make space for your deep nourishment.
The Cancer full Moon will surely pull you closer to your heart center, emotional body, and all fourth house matters such as home, heart, land, and mother. The ribcase, lungs, and heart are connected to Cancer and the 4th house. Take deep breaths and linger in your open and close, inhale and exhale.
Ashlesha nakshatra is ruled by Sarpa, the mystical serpent. Sarpa is notorious for his black magic and deceptive ways. He is illusion and confusion at his worst. At his best, he brings mystical wisdom and occult awareness. Snake medicine is indicative of Kundalini energy and the spinal column, as well as sexual potency. The lunar nodes Rahu and Ketu are expressions of serpent energy. First of all, they are not real, only shadows on the Moon, which is your inner wisdom and intelligence. Just as the nodes cause intensification, uncertainty, confusion and extremes, so does the energy of Sarpa. Highs and lows appear, as shadow merges into light and light moves back to darkness. What you see is not always what you get, or what you wanted.
Relationships become a major part of this transformation process. What are you learning about yourself as you look in the mirror? Let your heart wisdom guide you and become the guru. Use devotion, Bhakti, to strengthen your path and purpose. Get devoted to your self, your path and your purpose. Make love your dharma and dharma your love. Allow passion to feed you, stir your longings and provoke action steps. Where are you playing small- in matters of love and creativity? As a new cycle arrives, nourishment, money and resources ask for your attention and intention. The pull will be towards greater nourishment in the weeks ahead, encouraging a focus on being fed, supported and comforted.
What are you eating- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually? How nourished do you feel by what you are ingesting? What is working well? What is missing? Cut, clear, and delete anything that is keeping you malnourished in body and soul.
Shivaratri arrives this year on February 18th, just before the new Moon. This is a time of deep silence and strong potential. It is the marriage celebration of Shiva and Shakti, a symbolic union of wholeness- when the absolute unmanifest, conjoins with the pulse of life force energy. Masculine and feminine merge and create life- and the ability to manifest becomes amplified. From this place of union, we can ignite the power of being, the power of life. Transformations abound right now- inner and outer.
Are you paying attention to polarities in your life? What dualities are you aware of and what is needed for their integration?
This is a powerful time for meditation and reciting the Mrityunjaya Mantra: oṁ tryambakaṁ yajāmahe sugandhiṁ puṣṭi-vardhanam ǀurvārukam-iva bandhanān mṛtyormukṣīya māmṛtāt ǁ
Shivaratri supports planting seeds of potential through the depth of silence. Shiva as destroyer, is at one with this awakened state of creativity. His role is to support your collapse into concentrated, focused alignment with the harmony of existence- that which is pure consciousness, deep, unaltered silence and awakening. This is where your creativity resides, your ability to manifest, create and transform- over and over again. Through the transcendence, you can easily touch this silence in its pure form. Shiva reminds us to use this silence to release, simplify and transform.
From a silent and awakened state, you can plant the seeds of life more intentionally and powerfully. Use your deep inner silence for stirring your creative desires. Next, the fertility festival of Holi, will activate your silent seeds, helping them become more fully awakened with the creative wisdom of Nature. What are you creating for your powerful life? What is your vision? Let your imagination move you into being. Create your life! New Moon in Aquarius and Satabisha Nakshatra On February 20th at 00:07 am MT
The theme of duality continues to be at play during this new Moon cycle. Prepare to meet opposition, inner conflict, and a greater need for balance. See exactly what is malnourishing you and eradicate it through harmony.
Venus is exalted in Pisces, conjunct Jupiter for three short weeks. A swelling and expansion is possible with love, money, creativity, beauty, art and all things feminine. Watch for a dynamic between spiritual and material realms that needs your attention.
Saturn is already asking for balance and equilibrium as he newly navigates Aquarius. Sun in Aquarius will provoke this need for balance, structure, and inner harmony for the coming month.
The new Moon in Aquarius is a reminder to seek integration and balance with opening and closing. A dual ruled air sign, both Saturn and Rahu provide a sense of duality and contradiction here. Aquarius correlates to the 11th house of gains, however, gains come when we allow for losses. In other words, without letting go and supporting the release process, there isn't space to acquire or receive the gains arriving. Pluses and minuses must be honored in the cycle ahead. There will be losses and inevitable letting go. Just remember you are making space for the new.
Satabisha nakshatra is a powerful constellation of healing. This full Moon brings an important junction point to our journey of change and transformation. Varuna is the ruling deity of this portion of the sky. He rules Natural Law and sustains it through seeing everything- dishing out consequences for anything that goes against the highest Laws of the Universe.
This new Moon is an excellent beginning and fresh start- especially for healing purposes. Disease that begins under Satabisha is extremely difficult to heal, so being extra diligent with routine, diet and life style choices are nonnegotiable in the cycle ahead. This is an excellent time to prepare for a spring cleanse, follow Ayurvedic guidelines more closely, get more rest, exercise and meditate regularly.
What do you need for deeper nourishment? Are you making space for what you need? What losses do you need to attend to and grieve? What gains do you need to celebrate and honor?
Use the coming cycle to come home to yourself and set the intention of healing your body, mind, emotions and spirit. Ask for guidance and seek out new resources where you see holes in your support team. Honoring your inner wisdom and truth is dharma. There is no other path.
January 2023

The month begins with Moon and Rahu in Aries, retrograde Mars in Taurus, Ketu in Libra, Sun and retrograde Mercury in Sagittarius, Venus and Saturn in Capricorn.
January Transits Mars direct in Taurus on the 12th Sun in Capricorn on the 14th Makara Sankranti on the 14th Saturn enters his own sign of Aquarius on the 17th Mercury direct in Sagittarius on the 18th Venus in Aquarius on the 22nd Full Moon in Gemini on January 6th at 16:07 MT in Punarvasu Nakshatra
January requires a slow, steady approach to movement and momentum. This will be a delicate month for mind and body so plan accordingly. By the end of the month, all planets will be moving forward, but Saturn will be sandhi in Aquarius until the first part of February. Forward movement with Mars and Mercury will help motivation and focus. Get clear on your needs and start moving in that direction.
When Saturn is weak, it is a reminder to take extra care of the body, structure, and stability. Bones, foundation, and safety issue may be up. This is an important time for grief work so clean out the undigested emotions lingering in the corners of your psyche. Purge, digest and clear what has not been fully honored or acknowledged so you have space for the new.
This full Moon comes with a tight conjunction of retrograde Mercury and Sun in Sagittarius. You may notice the critic is high and ideals are strong. This is a good time to get active, move the body, sweat, and transform some energy. Get out of the mind and into the body.
Gemini and Punarvasu nakshatra awakens the desire for universality, new resources and support. Ruling deity, Aditi, is often referred to as the "mother of all goodness". She birthed 33 Devas. Of these children, 12 were Adityas- powerful allies for resources, material support, wisdom and guidance. She is the expression of expanded awareness, the mother in all things, the foundation of the universe and non-duality.
Only when you are truly willing to face your shadow and honor its gifts, will you be able to make space for and allow new possibilities to arrive. Ask for what you need and gather the resources and support that will make it possible. Makar Sankranti
After the January full Moon, the auspicious Vedic celebration of Makar Sankranti arrives on Saturday the 14th. This marks an important movement towards a more bountiful time of year (spring and a time of growth) in the Vedic calendar. The Sun's movement into Capricorn is called Makar Sankranti. Unlike the majority of Vedic celebrations which are calculated by the placement of the Moon, this celebration is calculated by the position of the Sun. Sun is connected to father, knowledge, power, the Soul, and the light within. Get organized and be methodical in your action steps. This is a powerful time to set intentions and goals- in order to have a rich harvest.
New Moon in Capricorn on January 21st at 13:54 MT in Abhijit Nakshatra
The first new Moon of the year comes with a highly auspicious expression of cosmic intelligence. Saturn has newly entered Aquarius and is sandhi at 0 degrees 30. Sandhi planets are extremely spiritual in nature, but are not rooted or grounded. This is an excellent time for spiritual awareness and somatic experiences, however, it requires great care and caution on a physical body level as well as material world level. Do not push or force the body, or take extreme risks. This is not a time for material world progress, but highly important for aligning with spiritual desires and intentions.
At the time of the new Moon, both Sun and Moon land in 7 degrees 30, conjunct sandhi Venus, within Capricorn. The sacred 28th nakshatra, Abhijit, falls within 6 degrees 40 and 10 degrees 53 inside the sign of Capricorn and sandwiched in the middle of Uttar Ashada and Sravana nakshatras. The ancient Jyotishis knew this to be a sacred slice of the heavens, specifically for spiritual purposes. Since Sun and Moon will be conjunct within this sacred degree range during the new Moon, I'm calling it an Abhijit new Moon.
This rare and highly auspicious new Moon is extremely important for dharmic pursuits and sacred intentions. Abhijit nakshatra is a spiritual portal that can increase divine connection with Source, spirit and Natural Law. Take time to meditate and set an intentions on this new Moon day for deeper alignment and nourishment with your dharmic path and soul purpose. This portal stays open only until early evening on the 21st when Moon shifts into Sravana nakshatra. Sun will leave this sacred portal on the evening of the 24th.
Once a month moon moves through the sacred constellation of Abhijit for a few hours. Once a year, the Sun moves through this sacred constellation for a few days. It is rare to have both Sun and Moon align in this sacred constellation, marked by a new Moon. Don't go too fast or neglect this moment. Linger here and pause. Set intentions that honor your soul desires for the coming cycles. This is a powerful opportunity to really listen and hear the body and soul on a much deeper level.
What is your soul longing for and needing you to listen to? What has been neglected on a soul level for far too long? What joy and nourishment is your soul asking for in the cycles ahead? What steps move you closer to your soul wisdom?

Full Moon in Taurus and Rohini Nakshatra December 7th at 21:07 MT
"Where we think we need more self-discipline, we usually need more self love.” - Tara Mohr
This full Moon is powerfully creative and super charged with divine wisdom, as well as big emotion. Moon conjuncts retrograde Mars in Taurus, offering two possibilities: flashes of anger, or an amplified alignment with the divine feminine. The extra big energy of this Moon will no doubt move some energy. What supports your deepest nourishment? Move toward that.
The full Moon arrives in Lord Brahmas domain, Rohini nakshatra. His unification with Goddess Saraswati is the ultimate manifestation energy. Masculine and feminine creative powers align in order to bring desire into form. Through creativity, the arts, wisdom and knowledge, we can create our lives over and over again. Desire sparks actions and intentions.
With this full Moon, you have the ability to create something new for yourself and your life. This is the most powerful constellation for creation, creativity and bringing desires into tangible form. Rohini is a fixed constellation, which offers stable results and dharmic support. Now is the time to make your dreams a reality and take the necessary action steps to manifest it into form. Rohini nakshatra is a powerful portion of the sky dedicated to creativity on all levels- allowing dreams and desires to manifest. Ruler of this nakshatra, Lord Brahma, is the god of creation; he literally birthed the universe from his navel. Now is the time to bring forth your ideas, desires and creative impulses from the unseen, hidden realm. Awaken your deepest desires and allow them to take shape.
If you've been putting off action steps, expansion of ideas and desires, now is the time to get serious. There is a lot of proactive energy in the transits right now that can be put to good use. Use your energy wisely and channel it creatively. Ask for more and step up to make it happen. Manifestation occurs when we activate and align with our dreams and desires, while also taking conscious, congruent and consistent action steps to support them.
Use this coming waning cycle to birth something new. Awaken your buried passions and ignite your purpose. Where have you been playing too small? What have you neglected to fully ask for? What steps are you resisting or refusing to take?
Maximize your creative life force energy and awaken the power of your creative courage. Step into your power and potential. Restructure, release, transform and grow. Shed the old parts of you that doubt and play the victim. Uproot the stories and mental blockages that are keeping you poor and in survival. It's time to step up, expand your ability to receive the nourishment of life. Make sure that your actions and choices align with your desires. Seek congruency with your vision and your behaviors. Open the channels for more life force energy and say yes to life!
Get focused on the direction you are going in life. Make your dreams a priority and start creating a life you love! What brings you joy? What are you passionate about? What moves you closer to sustainable nourishment? Say yes to your creativity! What are you creating for your one, precious life?
Solstice occurs on December 21st. Winter Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere and Summer Solstice for the Southern Hemisphere. "It’s the astronomical moment when the Sun reaches the Tropic of Capricorn, we have our shortest day and longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere in terms of daylight. Regardless of what the weather is doing outside your window, the solstice marks the official start of winter. The term “solstice” comes from the Latin words sol (Sun) and sistere (to stand still) because, during the solstice, the angle between the Sun’s rays and the plane of the Earth’s equator (called declination) appears to stand still.
So what does that mean, exactly? Upon the winter solstice, the Sun appears at its lowest in the sky, and its noontime elevation seems to stay the same for several days before and after this day. The Sun’s gradual decrease in the sky reverses upon the winter solstice, marking what many cultures believe to be a “rebirth” of the Sun as the hours of daylight become longer."
- Farmer's Almanac
As the still point arrives and the reversal of the light takes place, it is a powerful time for introspection and release. This is a time to attend to shadows, grief and undigested emotions. Clearing, purging and releasing lingering emotions from the past cycle will create space for the new, opening you to more life force in the months ahead. This is nature's request to re-balance. What are you moving towards? What are you moving away from?
What needs to be cleared and released? What is undigested from the previous year, decade? What are you making space for in your life?
New Moon In Sagittarius and Mula Nakshatra December 23rd at 03:18am MT
" What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have never been discovered." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
The conjunction of Mercury, Sun and Venus that has been moving through the zodiac over the past several months lands in Sagittarius for December. This is a highly creative combination, as long as you don't let it lead to burn out. Mercury will go retrograde as December closes. Interesting timing for mental body clean up as the year comes to a close. Use the end of the year to close this annual cycle. Clean up and clear out the mental body, communication and commerce. Retrograde Mercury is especially helpful for organization and orderliness. What feels undigested from the previous cycles? What mental body stories are not serving your highest potential?
Sagittarius is a fire sign known for its spiritual inclinations. As the number nine, it naturally reflects the wisdom of the 9th house of dharma. Symbolized by an archer pulling his arrow back, this sign needs to remember to take action, not just prepare. There is a tendency for "over-preparation" with this sign, rather than taking focused, right-action. Notice where you are causing delays, creating obstructions, resisting forward momentum. The support will be here for you to move forward, but you must take the steps to make it happen. This sign wants fairness and justice, as well as truth. The shadow side to this sign is dogma, puritanical beliefs and ideals.
The first constellation of Sagittarius is Mula, considered one of three gandantas in the zodiac- a gap between water and fire. Gandantas are notorious for uprooting the psycho-emotional body levels. This particular gandanta, or gap, is connected to the nakshatra, Mula. Ruled by the dark goddess, Nirrti, this constellation is often disruptive for the dharmic path. Nirrti in fact is married to adharma, that which goes against dharma, causing calamities, chaos and misfortune on the path that obstructs or delays dharma.
Expect your tap root to feel unstable at this time. A poignant uprooting is taking place physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually at this time. Grounding and stability are vital.
This is a cycle of powerful restructuring, uprooting and change. Are you making choices that move you closer to dharma or further away from it? Address self sabotage, resistance to your growth, and the neglect of your souls purpose. You may experience challenges, frustrations, obstructions, or delays on your dharmic path. Gather the support, guidance, resources and tools you need to move forward with more clarity and focus. Don't lose sight of your goals, disires and spiritual intentions.
Seek spiritual insights and wisdom, as well as deeper self trust. What needs to change once and for all- so you can finally move forward with more ease and gentleness? A clearing is taking place. Allow the release to happen, even if it's uncomfortable. You are preparing the soil for new growth. Next steps will be planting your seeds of desire and intention.
Are you making choices that move you closer to dharma or further away from it? What are you releasing, removing or uprooting right now? What needs to be cleared and eliminated so that you can move forward in a different way? What needs are surfacing as you sift and sort through the rubble? What are you making space for and how do you want to move forward differently?
November
November begins with Rahu in Aries, Mars retrograde in Gemini, Mercury, Sun debilitated, Venus and Ketu all in Libra, Saturn in his own sign of Capricorn, Jupiter retrograde in his own sign of Pisces.
November Transits Venus in Scorpio on the 11th Mars retrogrades back to Taurus on the 13th Mercury in Scorpio on the 13th Sun in Scorpio on the 16th Jupiter direct in Pisces on the 23rd
Full Moon in Aries and Bharani Nakshatra + Total Lunar Eclipse November 8th @ 04:01 am MT
November begins with a tight conjunction of four planets in Libra. The heat and pressure builds until mid month, dissipating the combustion of Venus and Mercury. Debilitated Sun, the eclipse portal and newly direct Saturn made for an intense October. This energy slowly dissolves as the eclipse cycle finally comes to a close with the November full Moon. Watch for big emotional body waves with this full Moon. Expect a powerful release, closure and rebirthing process in the cycle ahead.
The November Full Moon arrives early morning on the 8th, while Moon is transiting Aries and Bharani nakshatra. A re-birthing arrives with this cycle- so plan accordingly. Restraint and focus are required in the coming weeks. Clarify your needs and open to something new. This waning cycle will support the shedding and release of your old self, while supporting the arrival of a new, upgraded version of yourself. Have you cleared what needs to be released so you can make space for the new?
Bharani nakshatra is ruled by Yama, Lord of restraint. He is responsible for judging your karmas after death, determining what direction your soul goes in the after life. He can be cruel with his discernment and does not allow anyone to escape their actions, choices, or behaviors. Yama is the ultimate judge on all levels of life- reminding us that every action has a reaction and a consequence.
Interestingly, the constellation of Bharani is symbolized by the Yoni. This is a portion of the sky connected to birthing, bringing forth something new. It is both vulnerable, sensual, and sensitive, as well as immensely powerful and strong.
Bharani reminds us that we often must go through restraint, and restriction in order to clarify and align with a new path, a new direction, a new life. Notice what is being refined right now in your life. Acknowledge where you are feeling pinched, pruned, forced to clarify your needs and desires. Are you being clear about your direction and focus? Do you know where to focus your gaze? Your action steps and energy?
Use this waning cycle to clean up your path and purpose. If you are misaligned or being frivolous, Yama will put the smack down and force you to make some hard choices. He will also support ease and fluidity when you are aligned with right action, dharma. Notice what is being supported and what is not. It's time to make some choices about where you want to go, and what you want to create for your life. If you aren't getting the support of Natural Law that you want and need, you need to redirect and pivot.
Sun is still debilitated in Libra until the 16th of November. Although Saturn is finally direct, Jupiter will slowly move into forward motion late this month. Those ruled by Jupiter, in a Jupiter maha dasha, and who have Sun or Moon in Pisces will feel his changes more intimately. Slow down and listen carefully to the necessary shifts you are being asked to make. As the dharma planet, anything not aligned with your highest purpose won't be tolerated.
The two week eclipse portal closes with a powerful Aries full Moon and total lunar eclipse. Emotions are bigger than normal, inner waves more extreme, and lunar intelligence at peak levels. The waxing cycle brought challenges to the surface for re-evaluation. Your shadows have been intensifying parts of yourself that need greater awareness. It's time for an upgrade and a change in direction. Are you ready to pivot?
The challenges surfacing are likely not new issues emerging, but rather old parts of yourself that have been ignored. Without intensification they likely won't get the attention that is required for transformation and healing. Now that your pain and discomfort has your focused attention, what needs to shift?
Have you been paying attention to your shadow parts? What do you need to shift or change in your approach? What does your pain tell you about your deeper needs?
This total lunar eclipse begins on November 8th at 1:02 am MT and will end at 06:56 am MT. The maximum eclipse occurs at 03:59 am MT. The full or partial eclipse will be visible in North/East Europe, Asia, Australia, North America, Much of South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, Antarctica.
No new projects, relationships or activities should start in the eclipse portal. Notice what needs are arriving, then take action after the eclipse portal closes. Best to lay low, attend to spiritual pursuits, get extra rest and work with your inner shadow very consciously during this cycle.
On the day of the eclipse and full Moon, take time to ground, go slow and simplify your steps. This is not a time to push, force or take risks.
Where are you playing small, or allowing victim behavior to dis-empower you? Release the lack, uncertainty and resistance to change. What steps can you take to move closer to your dreams, goals and desires? It's time to start anew.
New Moon in Scorpio and Anuradha Nakshatra November 23rd @ 15:58 MT
Sun, Venus, Moon and Mercury simultaneously transit Scorpio at the time of the new Moon. Jupiter is freshly direct in his own sign of Pisces and gives his drishti to Scorpio. A noticeable upliftment may be palpable, while deep transformation is taking place. This is not a surface level new Moon. Expect to dive into your depths and feel remarkable inner shifts. How deep are you willing to go? The new Moon arrives while Moon is transiting Scorpio and Anuradha nakshatra. Sun and Moon collide in the sign of depth and transformation while the empty, dark Moon inspires possibility and potential. This is a particularly helpful cycle for turning your darkness into light. Prepare to activate something new and change old patterns and behaviors. What needs to be enlivened and awakened within you?
Anuradha nakshatra is ruled by Mitra who supports friendships and connections that support and uplift life. This constellation is also a powerful reminder of transformation and celebration. Symbolized by a triumphal gateway, this portion of the sky ushers in the arrival of improvement, upliftment and achievement. A powerful reminder that our darkness can be shifted and transformed into something life serving and empowering. Through your dharma, release and change your tragedy, pain and struggles into light, awareness and a powerful offering to the world.
Mitra’s support will bring resources and connection in the days and weeks to come. As an Aditya, Mitra’s role is to bring resources and support. He does it through connection, collaboration and relationship. Saturn rules this nakshatra, which indicates consistent, steady work is necessary for the resources to arrive. It also indicates that your steady steps will finally pay off- depending on your relationship with Saturn. As the planet of grief and sorrow, Saturn requires that you attend to your emotional body landscape diligently. With your attention to grief, he grants you more space in your heart for the joys of life. This is a cycle to pay close attention to your emotions and gather resources, support, guidance and community to weather the inner storms.
In the waxing cycle ahead, spend time with quality people, dear friends and trusted allies. Ask for support from those you love and cherish. Work towards co-creation and connection. Acknowledge the challenges you face and commit to transformation and healing. Lighten your load and turn the heaviness and sorrow into ease and gentleness. The medicine for your journey is self love and acceptance.
What needs to be reframed? How can you rewrite your story? How do you want to feel and what direction do you want to go? What steps are you committed to taking so you can finally feel successful?

Full Moon in Pisces and Revati Nakshatra October 9th at 14:54 MT
The month begins with a vulnerable Mercury, Venus and Sun combination in Virgo. Mercury goes direct at the edge of Virgo as we step into October. Debilitated Venus is combust, feeling excess heat from the Sun. This puts pressure on body and mind. Life force energy is limited and weak this month. Go slow, keep life simple, and prevent burn out. Extra care with your body is vital.
Sun debilitated in Libra marks the lowest point of the year for the light of the soul. Inner light is dim, power is weak, and physical body strength is vulnerable. Less is more during this month long cycle. Take extra care of your body and focus on the inner realms. This is a powerful time for inner work, rest, meditation, cleanse the body and tend to the soul.
Navaratri comes to a close days into October. The sacred nine day and nine night Vedic celebration is an expression of what is taking place within Nature, through the Laws that govern Nature. This cycle marks an important transition within us and around us.
Align with Nature and Her powerful energy of change and transformation during Navaratri. Ritualize your connections with Nature and the ancestors- in order to land more closely into your own inner wisdom, to Nature's wisdom. Strengthen your connection to self and Spirit.
Navaratri is a poignant time in the Vedic Calendar. This ancient calendar is one that is dedicated to Nature and her cycles and rhythms, the planets, and most importantly the Moon. In the Vedic Calendar, time is connected to what Nature and the cosmos are doing as these elements are intimately related. The main Navaratri celebrations occur twice a year- in the "gap" seasons of spring and fall. These times are considered sandhi times; delicate times that feel like you are neither here, nor there. We might call it the netherworld. This time, though delicate, is considered sacred.
Use this time to nurture the seeds of your creations and desires. Activate and align with your dharmic path. Take steps that move you closer to your nourishment and inner wisdom. Connect with your ancestors and Spirit in intimate ways. Think big and allow your transformation to take place. Where are you resisting change?
The Divine Mothers are supporting your growth and transformation process. Nature is awakening her wisdom- within you and your life. Are you allowing this change process to take place? Are you actively engaging and participating in this awakening process? Don't keep sleeping. It's time to wake up! The full Moon occurs in Pisces and Revati nakshatra. Moon is at the edge of the zodiac, asking you to find closure, release and create a finale with the last cycle. Attending to grief, loss, and hidden emotions will be important at this time. Be willing to look at your shadow and lift the stones of illusion keeping you stuck in the darkenss.
Doors are closing. Are you honoring the process of letting go properly? Are you making space for the new? At the same time immense potential is available. Be intentional with what you are creating.
Revati nakshatra is the last constellation of the zodiac. Its ruling deity, Pushan, helps make travels prosperous and nourishing. He supports the path and allows receiving, abundance, and offers resources for greater support and guidance. As an Aditya, he is a provider of prosperity on the material plane of existence.
Pushan helps those that are lost find their purpose and he will redirect you towards your path. He is the shepherd that finds the lost sheep and brings them back to the herd. He protects and nourishes all paths and will help you find the hidden treasures on the journey. Honor his wisdom and acknowledge his support for your path. He especially likes to be fed easily digestible foods like porridge. Bring some to your altar and ask for his blessings during the full Moon. As you pause more, what is your body telling you? What feels important to your soul right now? What nourishment is arriving and what needs are surfacing? How are you tending to your undigested grief?
New Moon in Libra and Swati Nakshatra October 25th at 04:49am MT + Partial Solar Eclipse
The October new Moon coincides with a partial solar eclipse, opening a two week portal of concentrated grief and shadow work. With Sun debilitated in Libra, this cycle promises to bring challenges with power, purpose, soul work, and physical vulnerability. Inner light is dim and material world support is low. Tend to your inner work and spiritual practices.
This Libra new Moon is particularly delicate as it mirrors the vulnerability and weakness of the Sun- who is currently debilitated in Libra as well. This is an inward time of year for the Sun. The source of our light is dim and the new Moon highlights this lack of light.
When Sun is debilitated, the physical body is more sensitive, but the spiritual body is more awake. Use this time to go inward, pause, rest and rejuvenate. This new Moon is a particularly powerful time for inner growth, deep listening, and self care.
New Moon in Swati nakshatra brings a cycle of movement ahead. Change, travel, and wind come with this constellation. Vayu, the wind god, rules this portion of the sky and brings all kinds of movement with him. Subtle and small breezes, as well as powerful gusts, and everything in between, are all within his domain. What is your relationship with the wind right now? Vata may be particularly imbalanced in the coming weeks so be mindful of your prana. Avoid excess movement, travel and pushing to accomplish. Right now, less is more. Silence and rest are the best use of your time and energy.
Diwali (or Deepavali) occurs this year from October 23rd to 27th. The main night of Diwali is October 24th as the new Moon arrives. This is a very significant five day Vedic festival in the Vedic tradition. The most significant day of the Diwali festivities occurs with the new Moon.
The five day celebration of Diwali honors light, Lakshmi, and the divine resources available to us. Lakshmi is the giver of health, vitality, nourishment and wealth. The festival of light spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. Three of the most important days are dedicated to Dhanvantari, Hanuman, and of course the new moon being the most important of all, which is solely dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi.
The partial solar eclipse will intensify the instability surfacing so pay attention to what is emerging from your depths. This eclipse opens a two week cycle that will invoke the depth of your shadows. Eclipses intensify everything and tend to make mountains out of mole hills- so we can see what we have been avoiding or negating within the unconscious realms.
We may get lost in the overwhelm and negativity during this two week cycle, so keep moving toward the light. Stay positive and look for solutions rather than focusing on the darkness, but do not bypass the necessary inner work that you are being asked to show up for.
This eclipse portal begins with a partial solar eclipse on October 25th and lasts for two weeks, ending with a total lunar eclipse and a full Moon in Aries and Bharani nakshatra on November 8th. The October partial solar eclipse begins at 02:58am MT and ends at 07:02 am MT, with the maximum eclipse occurring at 05:00am MT.
A reminder that this begins a two week cycle that is not good for starting new projects. Emotions tend to intensify during eclipses and shadows are much stronger. You may feel less clear and focused so don't make sudden decisions. Challenges often intensify so we can see them more clearly and make the necessary changes that will support new growth. This can be a time of immense inner transformation if used properly.
Even though this eclipse is not visible in North America, from a Vedic perspective, it is not advised to be outside during an eclipse or to look directly at the eclipse taking place. No new projects, relationships or activities should start in the eclipse portal. Notice what needs are arriving, then take action after the eclipse portal closes. Best to lay low, attend to spiritual pursuits, get extra rest and work with your inner shadow very consciously during this cycle.
Use the two week Eclipse cycle for spiritual practices, rest, retreat and your dharmic path. Set intentions for the coming weeks and honor your self care. Honor you emotional body wisdom and confront your inner shadows. Make necessary changes in your actions and choices. Release negative thought patterns, behaviors and inner dialogue that is keeping you stuck in patterns and cycles of lack. Clear, release and let go so that you have even more space for your deepest nourishment.
Are you making choices that move you closer to dharma or further away from it? What are you moving towards? What are you moving away from? What needs to be cleared and eliminated so that you can move forward in a different way? What are you making space for and how do you want to move forward differently?
