Moon is waning (Krishna Paksha) and transits Virgo, Libra, Scorpio and into Sagittarius this week.
For a jyotish Moon-centered approach to your day, follow my daily Moon Mind posts via Face Book. Libra (and the planets in and connected to Libra) continues to demand our attention. Rahu, Retrograde Mars and Retrograde Saturn are all there, receiving drishti from Jupiter and Ketu. This puts three planets in backward motion in Libra. Remember that Libra is Saturn's place of exaltation, however, it is retrograde currently, which makes it debilitated. Saturn is also sandhi and at the edge of Libra (near Scorpio) which weakens it, turns it more inward, slows it down, and requests that we pause, listen and be more quiet. Read more about Saturn's dance through Libra. Mars is also nearing the edge of Libra this week, but edging back towards Virgo. Mars weakens as it goes sandhi this week and may cause "fuzzy brain" syndrome for us. Expect slower reaction times right now with communication, action steps and plans. Relationships delays and all things Venus require patience and pause as well. Read more about Mars and his movements here. We are nearing the spring sandhi "gap"- expressed during the time of Navaratri where the veil is thin and we are asked to pause, be still and sync more closely with the Divine Mothers, Nature and her wisdom. The portal is opening now. Let the slowing take over and resist the urge to force actions, outcomes and agendas. Use surrender as your modus operandi. Mercury moves from Dhanishta nakshatra to Satabisha on 3.18. He moves from a Mars ruled nakshatra to a Rahu ruled nakshatra on Tuesday (the day of Mars). Satabisha is ruled by Varuna who is connected to "unseen obstacles" as well as health calamities, judgement, punishment and the rules created by the Gods. His main objective is to keep us connected to the Laws of Nature. Mercury is mind, intelligence, communication, finances, marketing and such, so be aware of Varuna's connection to these affairs in the coming week and a half. This nakshatra change for Mercury is in keeping with the need for surrender, the continued focus on Libra (it's ruled by Rahu which is transiting Libra) and a reminder not to force actions. We may feel as though we "aren't doing enough" or need to force our hustle when things don't seem to be coming together very well. As things fall apart and crumble at this time, remember that it is a time of dismantling what is not working in your best interest. As we clear the decks, we make space for what is in fact more ideal in the long run. The coming week will show us where we need to let go. Are you continuing to cling? Force? Push? Look for your own resistance and remind your Self to surrender. Avoid over working right now. Keep mental health at the forefront. Spring "officially" begins here in the Northern hemisphere on the 20th as we celebrate the spring equinox. This coincides with Holi which happened on the 16th and 17th here in the US and leading us into Vasant Navaratri on the 31st. Use this time to plant your seed of desire for the coming year. How will your garden grow? For increased awareness, utilize my jyotish inspired Body-centered Expressive Art Therapy articles. Each week I post a new Creative Engagement Activity to help inspire your own unique creative process, Self-tracking, and to enrich your cultivation of presence. This week, we are planting gardens. It is a big year with multiple {major} planetary changes. We will experience the changes of Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu, Saturn and unusual movements of Mars all in the next eleven months. Big changes are in store for each of us! Feeling uncertain about your action steps? What needs to change in order for growth? What kind of support you need? Schedule a yearly progression with me in order to make your New Year a truly transformational year. I still have some sessions available for April. *Horoscopes are based on your Vedic rising sign. You can also check your Moon and Sun signs for further insight. Do the same with your Navamsa signs for further clarity. Do not use these horoscopes with your “Western Sign” as there is likely no correlation. These horoscopes are meant to be used as a broad overview of the current transits and obviously do not address the specifics of an individual’s unique chart. Aries: This is not your time to shine. A better use of your energy is to rest and restore while Sun is in your 12th house. Take time for meditation, relaxation and rejuvenation. Re-examine relationships and what is needed to make them more doable, lasting and comfortable. The same goes for children, education and romance. Don't push, just surrender. Taurus: Communication seems to be a valid use of your efforts right now. How are you connecting? Who are you communing with? Why are you reaching out? Find a sense of purpose with your communications and upgrade your networking skills. This is more than speech. Commerce, intuition, writing, singing and the healing arts are involved as well. Heal and be healed. Start with your gut. Gemini: Creative energy soars, but not in familiar ways. You may be feeling confused about the messages coming to you, unless you are taking time to pause and listen. Intelligence, knowledge and learning are all coming at you but in very unusual and different ways. Children, romance and passion may feel off. Remember that this is not a time of pushing, but of letting go and surrender. Let go of the gas and the brakes and see if you can catch some air time. Cancer: Heart and emotions may feel all over the place. Home, land, and issues with your mother and father may feel overwhelming. Same old issues resurfacing? Confusion about where to go next? Leading with your heart and feeling vulnerable? Let the transformations have their way with you. Continue to surrender and let go of what you are clinging to. Leo: You may be feeling mixed messages with your action steps. Stop or go? Yes or no? As much attention as your third house of action and courage has been getting lately, you should be learning a few things about how to balance your efforts more effectively. Work backwards. Pause more. Listen to the physical body's needs. Sun is still in your 12th house which is a time of transformation, solitude, rooting through the past, and a need for more silence and stillness. Find new ways to meditate and transcend. Art is a great place to start. Virgo: Communicating differently is highly important right now in order to create more effective relationships. Digest and assimilate words; yours and others. Use this information to upgrade your offerings to others and spark some career support. Communication of all sorts (intuitive, energetic, monetary, mentally, and with speech) can offer you a strong creative edge right now and bring a heightened awareness to you. What are you listening to? What is your response? Download an upgrade, and rewire your hard drive. Libra: Feeling pulled in multiple directions simultaneously? Remember that less is more right now. You are digesting some very old pieces of life. These experiences can bring a heightened sense of awareness right now which may make you feel extra emotional. Consider this a "cleaning house", a "spring cleaning" of sorts, in order to move you forward on your Path more effectively. Let the purging begin: from inside out. Scorpio: This is a time of endings and losses. A time of cutting and chopping life to bits and pieces that feel more bite sized, digestible. Little pieces are easier to burn, compost, shred, let the wind carry off with its wings. It's also easier for us to hold onto the most important scraps, put them into our satchels, pack them up and ride off into the sunset with less baggage. What pieces are you keeping with you in your life? What pieces are you letting go? Don't look back. Surrender them to the wind. Sagittarius: You may be offered a chance to revisit some old gains, relationships and experiences. Weigh and measure the options before jumping in with two feet. Make sure it's not your own flattery that is saying yes. Remember, your physical, mental and emotional bodies need to be supported in order for the answer to be yes to any new projects or endeavors. Create, communicate, sing, and expand your intelligence right now. Think outside the old boxes in order to upgrade your relationships, career, and romances. Capricorn: You may be feeling wildly creative with a renewed sense of career vigor. But before you start amping your Self and your efforts back to 200%, remember that you are still in a time of grande change in directions. Your career is asking you to re-visit some of your old efforts and re-imagine them. Right now, slow and steady will help you win the long term race. Even if you feel like pushing, stop your Self. There will be plenty of time for your Capricorn ways; now is not one of them. Put your energy into working smarter not harder. Aquarius: Mental acuity or mental cravings? Mind control or mind taming? You are in a phase of Mercurial communication that can afford you some new, powerful, personal growth. Intuition, intelligence, speech and heightened creativity abound. But don't look for the old ways to bring new responses. You are stepping into uncharted territory so embrace the change and look for innovation. Pisces: It may appear to others that you are glowing. Perhaps the transformation you have been going through has given you a new golden hue. Enjoy your luster, but the inner work is far from complete. In fact, you are still in the thick of a rich purging of old goo. Start chipping away at the hardened chunks still clinging to your innards. Upgrade your tool kit for maximum shifts to take place and more mental/emotional support. Hint: you will be looking in very different places for this support.

As per this week's horoscopes:
Mars moves to Libra on 2.04 and will join Rahu and Saturn there. He will be sandhi this week (in weak degrees transiting the gap between signs). This will bring experiences on the inner and outer levels of stops and starts- with a bit of chaos and shadow mixed in. Think: lurches. Lurches feel frustrating so I've created a special Creative Engagement activity with this in mind. Pick a body part. Don't deliberate; let it be an impulsive choice. Set a timer to chime every two minutes. Let this body part be your entry point into your dance. Start small and with great intention. Move and be moved- paying attention to your breath. When the chime goes off, freeze. This is your "freeze frame". Hold for five counts or five breaths. Then resume your dance. Every time the chime sounds, pause exactly where you are. Do this for several rounds and then begin to interject slow motion into your dance. When the chime sounds pause as before. Then after five breaths begin to move but in very slow, molasses like movements. When the chime sounds, pause and take your five breaths in "freeze frame" then resume with normal or even fast forward motion. You can continue to play with speed each time the chime sounds and after you pause with your five breaths. Here are some other elements to play with as well: Repetition of a movement Repetition and speed of movement Utilizing surfaces (focus on just floor, wall, ceiling etc.) The "third" or space Balance Expand/contract and open/close Harvesting: Bring your dance to a close with eyes closed. Lay on the ground or stay standing but find a sense of closure. What is the "take away" from your stop/start dance? What did you learn about your reaction to the chime? Did you notice resistance, relief, surrender, a sense of flow eventually? Name your dance and let this title capture the essence of your experience. *Try this dance again and set your timer to a shorter or longer time frame for a different experience. Notice your response. Also, you can use this "score" with your yoga practice for a different type of "dance". Moon is now waxing (bright half/Shukla Paksha) and moves through Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn and into Aquarius this week. Moon is debilitated in Scorpio the 4th and 5th.
Last week's big planetary shifts and changes created a crack for new light to enter (through ideas, awareness, possibilities, ways to find support, desires, creativity) and this week continues in a theme of clean-up, re-do's and refocusing our efforts and attention. Saturn moves to Vishaka nakshatra on 11.4, ruled by the dual god, Indragni. This nakshatra is about working together, finding alliances and support systems through the merging of higher and lower entities, energies and enterprises. It is about bringing together the relative and the spiritual in order to create something sustainable, focused and life supporting. Indragni is also connected to the altar- the sacred place of offering to the gods, as well as the alchemy involved in such sacred transformational acts such as yagyas. The mouth is the portal that food enters, before it is transformed into life force. It is important to be mindful of our food choices and health at this time- to eat as though it is the sacred act that it is. The following months will give us a new spiritual focus; keep your pilot lights bright and sharp. Align with the purpose of Seva for maximum benefit. May the light of Diwali continue to carry us through the darkest days and this time of turning within. Mercury began its retrograde motion two weeks ago- which kicked off a "dance of returns" so to speak that will continue through the end of May 2014. Over the course of the coming weeks and months Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and Mars will all retrograde with a sort of domino effect- back to back- one after another. We will be experiencing clean-up on nearly every level of our lives. The next seven months are about re-evaluating and reminding ourselves what are the essential ingredients for life and what is "best practice" for our efforts. This week Jupiter retrogrades. On 11.6 at 22:32 CST, Jupiter begins his focus on clean-up, fixing and healing until March 3rd of 2014. Jupiter's movement back through Gemini will bring elements of uprooting and change as well as "getting to the root of things" with knowledge and insight, understanding and compassion. Retrograde Jupiter reminds us to find healthy boundaries in our relationships- boundaries that sustain our energy and efforts- without feeling the need to "fix" or take on partners as patients, heal the entire world, be co-dependent etc. This transit will ask healers to get really clear on why they "do what they do"- the root of their need to help and be of service. We will each be working with these issues in our own way and hopefully we will find healthy ways to recreate balance in our lives. It is a good time to revisit my Jupiter in Gemini article from several months back for reminders about this current transit. Utilize my jyoti/creative arts activities as a healing & awareness tool. This week's Jyoti/Expressive Art Therapy Creative Engagement Activity moves us into the light of possibility and expansion via song. Aries: Continue to find new ways to support your self, notice the myriad of ways that support comes to you and your life. What gifts do others bring to you. Are you willing and able to receive them? Your intuition is sharp right now. Go with gut instincts. Find resolution for anger towards children, friends, loss and the past. Let your Self and others off the hook for making mistakes. Taurus: Speak the sweet truth and sing your heart songs. Cleaning and clearing past relationships feels important to you suddenly. Work with the underlying anger. Your healing work is directly connected to digestion, gut, enemies, vulnerabilities, fears and bad habits. A clear and clean gut gives a clear and clean intuition. Gentle detox is best- avoid fast and furious healing endeavors- they will only lead to greater vulnerability and chaos. Slow and steady wins the race. Gemini: Think of your Self as a computer getting a re-boot, a re-programming. Your natural ability to connect and communicate is finding an expansive and sensual side right now. How does it feel? Can you get out of your mental body and into your emotional/imaginal body? Can you step outside of your default mode and hit control + alt + delete to get a fresh start? Listen to your gut response, your intuitive wisdom for guidance. Be mindful of your food choices for optimum intelligence. Cancer: Relationships are getting a new opportunity to heal and find ease. Perhaps you are gaining some new wisdom about how to respond from the heart, while keeping safe and healthy boundaries? You can be clear and poignant with your words and needs while still being loving and kind. Your growth is entirely unseen by others, but trust your process any way. This month, mind your gut and watch your diet. Bad habits and enemies will take extra bravery and courage on your part. Leo: Sharpness and quickness rule supreme right now. Courage and bravery are required with intelligence, relationships and passions. What is your emotional response to others and how might this be a signal for you in other ways? Use friends as teachers and seek their messages and metaphors. Finding balance with your courage, efforts and strength is paramount right now. Burning out and burning up are way too easy, yet not sustainable. Virgo: Speak, yell, sing. Howl, cluck, meow. Change the way you use your words and how they emerge. Your gift with words are finding a new way of expression right now. Move with it. Find channels to unleash your emotions and use this as a tool for liberation and creativity. Relationships are going through deep transformation. See them as your guru- the Great Messenger. Be mindful of your words and what goes in and out of your mouth. Eat well. Libra: Grounding and Self care are so important for you right now. When the storm winds blow and get too intense, it is crucial to get into your physical body and out of the mental body. Mind the emotions and work with them- not against them. Use their charge to spawn new creative efforts and wisdom. Cultivate a practice of listening, pausing, breathing- before acting. And at all costs, remember you can trust your Self and your abilities. Be resourceful. Scorpio: Working from your little island is proving successful, yet alliances and support systems are more necessary than ever. What's the resistance? Trust issues? Fear of losing/giving away power? Lack of finances? All of the above? Your priorities need an overhaul. You can't do everything alone. Success come from asking for help from the right people, places and things as well as trusting. You're about to get a chance to do some major re-do's. Great. Now let's re-prioritize. Sagittarius: Some sense of nurturing is available now- are you letting it seep in? Friends and children offer support, wisdom and new insights. You are cared for and loved. Trust the Universe to provide and nourish you. Long standing internal anger is your greatest teacher right now. What does this fire stoke within you? How can you harness it rather than let it burn you up? What does this rage want, need, desire? It takes up a lot of energy to push it away and put it out. Why not work with it in a new way? Capricorn: Your creativity is focused on the foreign, travels, healing and relationships. These areas give a boost to your career, but will come with effort, attention, and structured wisdom. It is important to listen to gut instincts. Clarity will come by eating sattvic foods, lightly, with a gentle Ayurvedic cleanse. This is a time to be bold and courageous. It's who you are. Don't listen to the self doubt. Aquarius: Teachers come in all shapes and sizes. You are getting a chance to change some old patterns, beliefs and philosophies that no longer work or serve you. Friends and older siblings may prove as valuable resources right now and bring a wealth of information with them. Listen up! If you notice resistance within, anger towards others, or judgement and discrimination, I suggest you do some deep introspection and thoughtful investigation as to where it is coming from. Old habits die hard. Pisces: Vulnerability is your greatest strength. Some new healing is available to you now that may have not been available before, as well as some tools to help others and be of service. You are also able to take your insights and turn them into offerings in new and profound ways. Use your dharmic resources and trust your instincts. Heal and be healed. Forgive your Self and your enemies and nourish and nurture. From darkness there will come light. Horoscopes for the Week of 9.2 :::
Moon transits through Cancer, Leo, Virgo and into Libra this week. Moon is in its own sign of Cancer on 9.2 & 9.3 but will be with debilitated Mars there. Expect fatigue, exasperation and emotions running hot; get extra rest. Mars in Cancer should be considered a rest cycle, treat it accordingly until early October. Next week will bring a bit of relief to emotions and efforts as Moon breaks up the placement of Kala Sarpa Yoga (all planets placed between Rahu and Ketu) that has been going on for weeks. For now, take small steps, don't push too hard, strive to achieve "less is more." New Moon on 9.5 in Leo at 6:37 CDT. Moon will be in Purvaphalguni Nakshatra. The focus is on relationships, the feminine (including divine feminine), creativity, passion and all things related to Venus. There is vulnerability with this new moon so be careful with the aforementioned indications as well as with travel and cars/driving, at this time. This is an exciting and intense week for the planets. Saturn and Rahu are working their way to conjunction in the upcoming weeks and we are already feeling the pressure of these two powerful planets getting closer in degrees. [For more awareness about this transit, visit my previous articles about Saturn and Rahu in Libra.] We also have two planets changing signs on 9.5, the same day as the New Moon. Venus moves to its own sign of Libra (joining Saturn and Rahu there) and Mercury moves to its sign of exaltation, Virgo, as well. Both are in deep sandhi (in the gap between signs) at the time of the New Moon and are thus vulnerable. This week in general is a time of caution- especially from 9.4 to 9.7 when both Venus and Mercury are weak. Unlike some of the other prevalent predictions circulating, I don't see the coming weeks with rose-colored glasses. Yes, Mercury and Venus moving to new houses improves things on several levels. For one, Mercury and Sun will no longer be hemmed in by debilitated Mars and Venus. Secondly, both Mercury and Venus move to houses that will be vast improvements from the last. So yes, there is a trend of improvement. Some will even experience worldly advancements with the heightened influences of Rahu happening, but for the most part, vulnerability still abounds- especially in regard to all things Venus. Debilitated Mars will still be aspecting Rahu and Saturn, but will impact Venus now directly. There will be drishti from the benefic Jupiter on these three planets in Libra (and thankfully Jupiter has moved into Punarvasu nakshatra now, ruled by Jupiter and the deity Aditi, the "Mother of all Goodness"), but for the most part, Rahu is giving us a taste of his insatiable appetite for the worldly. Due to the nakshatras, Rahu, Venus and Mars are highly activated. Temper the cravings, heat and storms, as well as issues with "other" and relationships, through meditation, creative pursuits, seva and deep introspection. Don't fall off the wagon too hard. *The above photo was shared by K.H in response to last week's Creative Engagement Exercise offered in my horoscope post. She wrote: "...As I eased my way into it, I felt my body become light and move solely from heart center, as if every movement that came forth contained a string attached back to the heart. Strings. So many strings. Reaching out, reaching back in. Expansion. Contraction. Always finding a dynamic balance. If my drawing could speak, it would tell me...Let your Heart Beat with the Universe." Thank you for sharing your experience K.H.! If you would like to share your CE work, please email me. Creative Engagement Activity for the week of 9.2 ::: As we bring in the New Moon this week, our energy is restarting anew as well. During the dark half, our energy and focus wanes, and as the Moon begins to brighten, so does our energy and outer focus. This week we will work with the Pelvis, the creative energy center, and in body metaphor practices, the place where we connect with fertility, reproduction, our creative potential, and activation of life. The pelvic bones connect us to our spine and upper and lower body and they house the reproductive organs. Venus is also associated to the pelvis. Start with a gentle pulse. Stand feet hip width a part, bend the knees and find a bounce. Do this until you can drop everything else and you find the release and relaxation. Take this into a pelvis dance. Swing your tail, undulate your hips, lift our legs, rock back and forth. Find movements that feel supportive, soft, grounding, opposites. Notice how the pelvis connects the lower and the upper halves of the body and is a crucial link for movement of each. Take at least 30 minutes for this dance. Come to your drawing pad and draw a large circle. Inside your circle create a New Moon Mandala. When you are finished, complete this sentence: "For this new moon cycle, I am creating". Aries: Continue to look for resources and be solution-oriented. You are your own worst enemy, so seek alliances and teams that bring support and nurturing and be alert to what is doing the opposite- not serving you. Focus on children, education, wealth building activities, relationships, creativity and courage. Watch the anger button and start to catch the heat before you boil. Taurus: It takes great courage to heal and be healed. Use this time for growth on the inner level. Home space is a metaphor for the temple, as body is the temple to the soul. Make home and heart a sanctuary in order to thrive. Create a healing oasis physically and metaphorically. Use this time to be nurtured and to nurture. Find the Seva here. Gemini: Creative and passionate exaltation is rising in you like a golden sun. This week begins a good round for you, but I challenge you to find balance amidst all the creative storms. Diving deep within is your golden ticket to sanity and will bring the ultimate rewards. The inner will help you find the outer offerings. Be alert. I wonder if you'll be able to sit still long enough to meditate or if you'll be too busy hob-nobbing at the cocktail party? Make time for both. Cancer: It is a time of working on the balance of inner and outer, quiet manifestation and clear, focused action, the outer experience of life vs. the inner, quieter realms. Courage to speak these hidden gems and share them with others is mounting. Perhaps sharing more of your spirit, your soul, with the outer world, can help you create more balance on the inner? Are you willing to take the risks necessary to find out? Leo: Unlike the other signs, you are in a dynamic place and can't help your self for making strides. Remember though that outer depends on inner, so external actions need to be in harmony with the inner guidance system. Creativity comes into focus and financial comforts take an upswing these coming weeks. These will likely be connected to friends and acquaintances, so make hay while the sun shines and get off the metaphoric couch. Virgo: Some mental ease is settling in, but minding your gut is essential. Especially watch for constipation. It will take courage for you to shine in the coming weeks- part of you is feeling very alone and isolated. Don't push too hard. Your soul is in a rest cycle, but you can still shine internally. Comfort may feel fleeting and volatile. Use positive affirmations to will away the negative self-talk. Affirm the good and find resources. Libra: Friends and gains bring more support over the next few weeks. Listen to good advice from others and gain from acquiring new skills and resources. You become a whirlwind of creativity and connections over the next few weeks, so "make it work" as Tim Gunn would say. Just remember that team work requires someone to step up and "be the bigger one" sometimes. Scorpio: Right now is a time of drawing back the arrow. It may feel as though your efforts are going into a bottomless pit and will never resurface. Continue to methodically build the empire. It's not quite time to let your arrows go, but keep holding the target in your mind. This week, slow and steady will help you win the race. Sagittarius: All you want is time for your self, but instead you are being forced to deal with others. Here it is, an opportunity disguised as another annoyance, a distraction, a worldly projection. There are gains to be had right now on the outer level so don't neglect conscious action. Learn from everything. Use everything as a metaphor, a mirror to the Self. Capricorn: Your response to relationships, the "other", continue to bring emotional disturbances and discomfort despite your efforts. Don't worry, it's about to all make a lot more sense in the coming weeks. Use this time to spread your wings and catch a breeze. Use what you've been learning to take some emotional risks. Your soul is going through deep transformation. The rest of you will catch up shortly. Aquarius: With four planets aspecting your first house, you may be feeling like the universe is giving you mixed messages. Others are seeing you as a shining light, a beacon, which is very attractive. Find "best practice" in your teaching and advisory roles, your relationships and with knowledge and wisdom from gurus and teachers. The coming weeks will be an excellent time for deep thoughts, make time for them with presence. Pisces: Some things will begin to make more sense now. Relationship transformations heighten in the coming weeks as your awareness heightens. Expect a lot of talking to happen- make it "high level" conversation. Your wisdom is coming from your gut, so don't neglect digestion, and gut reactions. Teach and advise, heal and be healed. Seva is key. Monday 8.26 Moon has crossed over Ketu, as both are in Aries. Moon is receiving drishti from both Saturn and Rahu. Moon is transiting Bharani nakshatra today, ruled by Venus and Lord Yama. Yama has to do with self-restraint, restrictions, death and transformations as well as that which is dharmic. Death is dharmic and Yama enforces the judgments at the end of one's life. There's no escaping his decisions nor the transformations of the death and dying process. Today, we may feel relationships and excesses are dying out, or causing us duress on some level. Vehicles, passion, creativity, the feminine, finances etc. can bring us issues as well as emotions. Note that this is likely due to some imbalance with these areas of our life. As Moon moves to the 7th tithi today at 14:05 CDT, there will be a greater influence of Saturn on the day. This will maximize any pressure, anxiety or stress we may be feeling. Watch for anger and aggression. Take a walk, have a cup of tea in silence, meditate, create art. Make your lists and dream today, even if it feels impossible or too far out of reach. *Horoscopes for the week of 8.26 will be out later today. Sign up for my weekly newsletter here. |
