The Sun, or Surya in Sanskrit, is responsible for giving light and energy so that all things can grow and prosper. Too much light, however, and the Sun burns and scorches. He reminds us that too much of a good thing can also be harmful. Sun represents resources and the things we need to survive. As the Sun brings light, it shows us truth, satya, while offering clarity, focus and removal of darkness. In Jyotish, the Sun represents father and masculine energy. His attributes are like the king and he shares rank and position, power and authority, as well as respect and ruler-ship. The Sun will give us our dharma, the proper path to follow for our enlightenment. Traditionally, the father is supposed to help guide the child on their path of dharma. It is the father who is responsible for instilling self-esteem and ultimately gives the spark of life via his sperm. The Sun is also responsible for illuminating the Moon, as well as the other planets. The Moon directly reflects the Sun's light and shares this filtered light- which is nourishing, supportive and doesn't burn. In fact the glow of the Moon is said to offer soma, or divine, healing nectar. Together, Sun and Moon represent God and Goddess, who together create life and our experience of reality. Sun represents the soul, our spiritual body, and will show us our relationship to spirituality in this life. Essentially, the Sun is the light of the soul. It is the light within us that guides our lives. The soul is what insures there is life; if the soul is not happy, the body grows sick and dies. Our sense of self (ahamkara) is also represented by the Sun. On this mundane, human level, the ego is also represented by the Sun. The ego is our shadowed self, the part of ourselves that identifies with the material, transitory, changing reality of life. Having a healthy relationship with the ego, the sense of self, is vital to being a well-rounded human being. This must be a conscious practice- one that is invited into our human experience, while not negating the interplay of our spirit and ego. Deepening our relationship with the Sun and studying its expression in our jyotish chart can help us awaken to our karmas in this regard. There is a necessity to understand the dance between the spiritual and human dynamics at play within the Jyotish chart. I believe this is one of the unique gifts Jyotish provides. Read more about what makes Jyotish so special. The Sun is the most consistent planet and it sets the pace of time through rising and setting daily. As a result we experience days, seasons and bio-rhythms. In fact, life itself is structured around the Sun as a light source. He is the rhythm of nature and thus represented through the rhythm of music and dance. Summer Solstice this year is June 21st, which marks the beginning of summer in the Northern hemisphere, as well as the longest day of light in the year. "The summer solstice occurs when the tilt of a planet's semi-axis, in either the northern or the southern hemisphere, is most inclined toward the star that it orbits. Earth's maximum axial tilt toward the Sun is 23° 26'. This happens twice each year, at which times the Sun reaches its highest position in the sky as seen from the north or the south pole. The summer solstice occurs during a hemisphere's summer. This is the northern solstice in the northern hemisphere and the southern solstice in the southern hemisphere." - Wikipedia Solstice this year falls on a Sunday which is also Father's Day in the USA. It is a wonderful day to celebrate the Sun and the fathers in our lives, as well as all solar qualities. Moon will be transiting Leo (ruled by Sun) on this day, in the nakshatra of Magha, which is dedicated to our ancestors and typically the father's lineage. Read more in my Moon Mind Calendar. The Sun has just moved to Gemini and will continue through this airy, creative sign until July 17th. The hot, fiery combination of Mars and Sun are conjunct during this transit of the Sun. Gemini is a Mercury ruled sign, known for connection and communication and represents the merging of energies. Represented by the number three, Gemini expresses the third energy that is created when two energies come together. Metaphorically, this connects to the energy of lovers joining, creating a "third energy" out of their unification. From an artistic perspective, Gemini can represent the artist and their medium, plus the arrival of a "third" energy- or the emerging transcendental experience. The creative energy of Gemini is unstoppable, changeable and always moving. Sun in Gemini brings light to our communications, connections and creative energy. What are you seeing with this new light? This Week's Intention: Notice your movements and choices. Watch, track and invite in awareness on the mental and emotional levels. Keep moving towards the nourishment of life. The week begins with a very inward feeling. Moon is in its final phase of the waning cycle and inviting us to introspect. Monday, Moon transits its exaltation sign, Taurus, with the fiery combination, Sun and Mars, and the mental body planet, Mercury. Feelings are intense, hot and passionate. The mind is stoked and forceful. With Saturn and Rahu giving their gaze, our mind and emotions get extra pressure and chaos. Creative forces are strong with Rohini nakshatra today, so channel the mental and emotional bodies intentionally. Sun jumps into Gemini mid morning, inviting in a new month of creative potential. Hours later, Mars chases the Sun into Gemini as well. Gemini represents the merging of energies, and the new, third energy that is created as a result. Metaphorically, this connects to the energy of lovers coming together, creating a "third energy" out of their unification. From an artistic perspective, Gemini can represent the artist and their medium, plus the arrival of a "third" energy- or the emerging transcendental experience. The creative energy of Gemini is unstoppable, changeable and always moving. In the coming cycle, merge and connect with new ideas and people, in order to deepen your nourishment, increase wealth and find new resources. How can you extend and expand your reach by joining forces in new ways? A certain dynamism charges us forward into this new cycle with relationships and communication being a primary source of desire. Feel, search, express- while flowing, expanding and creating new pathways. This Sun and Mars cycle will be a time of many new insights, ideas and a very strong imagination and it will give us the potential for new connections, collaborations and relationships. But in order to have space for new relationships, we must let go or loosen attachments to the old. Use writing, the hands, art and expression to get the job done. New Moon, Tuesday June 16 at 09:06 CDT while in Gemini and Mrigashirsha Nakshatra. During the New Moon, movement will be felt on the three levels of your being- mental, emotional and physical- which may invite in a sense of being pulled in too many directions. With three planets in Gemini, Sun, Moon and a sandhi Mars, all in Mrigashirsha nakshatra, a passion for change and growth will be intensifying in the upcoming waxing cycle. The new Moon is conjunct Mars and Sun- who have just arrived in this airy, creative sign known for connection and communication. As Mars and Sun chase each other into Gemini, this sparks a heat wave of creativity, communication and connectivity. Do you want more astrological details about the Moon and the coming waxing cycle? Attend to inner nourishment and vitality. Create new pathways and channels for sharing, creating and moving forward. Early evening, Moon shifts to Ardra nakshatra and an abrupt shift occurs. Notice how Rudra's energy invites in a certain intensity. How can the nourishment of Soma from earlier in the day protect you and help you keep your balance? Moon continues through Ardra on Wednesday which invites us to listen carefully to Rudra's message. Moon in Gemini and Mercury in Taurus, offer a nice exchange between Taurus and Gemini today. Find ways to express and share in order to get more nourishment and support. Get focused and clear on what you want and need. Don't let the chaos interfere with finding nourishment and support. Notice how intense emotions pulls you off from your center and undermine your self power. Track yourself intentionally today on the mental, emotional and physical levels. Trust your steps and your purpose. Early evening Moon moves to Punarvasu nakshatra and Aditi arrives. See if you feel her wisdom coming through. Midday on Thursday, Moon shifts into its own sign, Cancer, joining exalted Jupiter and Venus here, while continuing to transit Punarvasu nakshatra. Aditi brings her expansive wisdom, a unity consciousness, a feeling of oneness with her. Move towards this oneness, the unified experience of life and self. Trust the holding, the containment of spirit, to guide and protect you. We are one with all, any separateness is an illusion. Where are you feeling separate? Where are you feeling whole? As Moon shifts to Pushya nakshatra early evening, a deepening sense of this holding can offer deeper support to us. Friday is a day of nourishment, if we allow it in. As Moon moves closer to Venus today, our feeling and emotions deepen. What is underneath the waves? What is the emotional body sharing with you about support and stability? Find your rhythm with opening and closing, yes and no, as well as healthy boundaries. Balance comes when we unite the expansive and contractive energies within us. What are you opening to? What are you closing to? As evening approaches, the Moon moves to Ashlesha nakshatra, conjunct Venus and Jupiter. Ketu's drishti can bring flashes of insight and awareness. Can you catch the sparks? Themes of Balance continue during Saturday, the day dedicated to Saturn's energy. Find ways to expand, flow and invite in more ease and grace today. The breath is a perfect metaphor of opening and closing, and the continuous flow of life that it offers. Tame the unruly mind today with consistent attention to its imaginal ways. How can its stories prove to be valuable resources for unlocking your subconscious messages and programing? Get curious and ask the right questions. Ask the mental body what it wants and needs. Just before midnight, Moon leaps to Leo and Magha nakshatra. Sunday is perfect day for celebrating the father's in our lives as well as the solar qualities! Moon transits Leo (ruled by Sun) on a Sunday in the nakshatra of Magha which is dedicated to our ancestors and typically the father's side of our lineage. Saturn's drishti on the Moon shares a contractive feeling and can remind us of grievances and pains. Keep it on the sunny side while attending to any depth and sadness that arrives on the emotional body. Notice how the balancing factors of open and close from the previous days can help support this process. Summer Solstice is June 21st. This marks the beginning of summer in the Northern hemisphere, as well as the longest day of light in the year. Monday arrives with creative life force energy activated! This fullness carries us through the greater part of this week which we may be feeling as swelling inner tides, full emotional bodies and a general sense of being filled up. We've been working with a cosmic landscape that has grounding and expanding energies, but little to no fire due to the current nakshatras that are enlivened. We may feel as though we have a lot to do, a very full plate, yet not accomplishing tasks quickly, efficiently or effectively. As Sun shifts to Dhanishta late in the week, this should help our clarity, tenacity and focus, as well as more goal-centered activities. *** I've shifted my posts to reflect my current time zone- Pacific Standard. Please note the changes and updated time difference in regard to your own location. *** Monday, February 2nd Today's Intention: Fill your cup with the nourishment of your life and let whatever can't be contained, release. Moon transits through its own sign, Cancer, on this day of Moon (Monday) with retrograde Jupiter here as well. Both receive drishti from conjunct Sun and retrograde Mercury. The Moon's energy is swelling, full and expansive right now, entering the 15th tithi today, the final phase of the waxing cycle. With Moon in Pushya nakshtra, ruled by Brihaspati and the planet Saturn, there is a refined sense of balance available, an inner and outer evenness. This comes from expand and contract energies which are working their magic on us right now. The expansive nature of Brihaspati (Jupiter deified) and Saturn (Pushya's planetary ruler) even out the excess in our life, helping us find more stability and security. A refined sense of nourishment settles in as we reflect on our deepest needs and desires. What serves us and what is not serving us? What can we clean up within our heart in order to clean up our life and properly expand in a more nourishing way? We need both opening and closing in order for the steadiness of life to support us. Tuesday, February 3rd Today's Intention: What wisdom do your illusions have to share with you? Moon collides with Jupiter as it moves into Ashlesha nakshatra at 06:59 am PST. Ashlesha is ruled by Sarpa, a serpent of the occult, mystical realms. Ashlesha nakshatra is ruled by the snake deity, Sarpa, as well as the planet Mercury. Currently Mercury is retrograde as is Jupiter, which provides us with a very powerful energetic force of returns, revisiting, and renewal at this time- if we use it intentionally. Sarpa’s energy is connected to Rahu, the shadow self, and requires us to look at parts of ourselves that are in darkness. Deception and illusion are part of Sarpa’s power and Ashlesha’s planetary ruler, Mercury, offers a connection to the mental body. This is an expansive activation day, make your steps count. This is an expansive activation day, make your steps count. The full Moon is at 17:09 CST with Moon in Cancer and Ashlesha Nakshatra. Moon hops into Leo and Magha nakshatra at 09:45 am PST, enlivening a more fierce and aggressive day then the previous. Magha's planetary ruler is Ketu, which provides an intensity like Mars, but with an added cutting, destructive nature that is usually sudden and abrupt. Pitr is the ruling deity of this nakshatra who enlivens the ancestors and our lineage matters. As Moon transits through Leo, it receives direct gaze from Mars and Venus seven houses away in Aquarius, as well as Saturn in Scorpio. Our internal waters, our emotional body, is getting a sharp refinement today. What do you need to take more control of in your life? Where do you need to step in with a bit more ego, in order to get the job done? What power and strengths do you need to activate in order to step into your dharmic work? Rise and shine. Watch for explosions- yours as well as others. Retrograde Mercury moves back into UttaraAshada nakshatra today at 20:04 PST which can help us align more thoughtfully with the Vishvadevas. These Laws of Nature, deified as the "all-gods", can help us remove obstacles that hinder our prosperity, productivity and may keep us off our path. Mercury continues its retrograde motion, moving back through Capricorn now until February 11th. Despite what many believe, retrograde cycles are not chaos cycles where life goes haywire. They are, however, cycles for us to re-trace our steps, recycle our thoughts and intentions, and to clean up any details we may have missed on the first go round. In fact, these rewind cycles are a gift! If we use these cycles intentionally, we get a chance to re-do what we may have neglected previously. Read more about retrograde Mercury cycles. The retrograde planet will determine what we are re-examining, and how that shows up for us in our life experience. Mercury is the planet that correlates to our mental body, our imaginal realms. It is the planet of communication, commerce, writing and connecting. It likes to speak, share, create and co-create. As Mercury will be walking back through Capricorn for the next three weeks, this is an ideal time to find very clear containers, structures and frames for your creativity, communication and connection. Retrograde Jupiter gives his drishti to Mercury at this time, creating a double return of old territory, including emotional body wisdom and themes connected to heart and home. Boundary work is essential right now. Think in terms of organizing all aspects of your life and tidying up old, dusty corners of you mind. If life is a closet, go to Ikea and get the proper shelving and filing systems for yourself. If the closet is the mind, get clear and organized about what "best practice" is for yourself in work, career and your life offerings. Re-commit to enlivening your dreams and making them real. Keep moving towards what makes your heart full of joy. Your passions are your life's work. Make space for them. Take intentional action steps and don't waste energy unnecessarily. Track your emotional and mental bodies for insights. Thursday, February 5th Today's Intention: Like a steam engine, let the inner heat move your inner tides. These tides can not be stopped or slowed- go full steam ahead! Moon shifts into Purvaphalguni nakshatra at 12:44 PST, and Bhaga, as well as Venus, offer an increase of resources to us. As one of the twelve Aditya's, Bhaga is centered around providing us with increases, prosperity and greater abundance, particularly through the flow of love, sensuality and pleasure. His job is to help us fall in love, to feel love, to express it and share it. He's not responsible for making it last, though. He just reminds us that it's always here for us to connect with if we so choose. And there is passion a plenty right now if we choose to dip into these fiery, abundant waters. The Mars, Venus conjunction in Aquarius, giving their direct drishti to the Moon right now, intensifies our passionate inner tides. What is moving you to action right now? What feels beyond your control? What is stirring your heart most intensely right now? Create an image of this feeling and let it remind you of its power at a later date. Sun shifts into Dhanishta nakshatra at 04:29 am PST, moving us from Sravana's expansiveness to a more refined ability to manifest on the material plane of existence- through the Vasus. The Vasu Devas are sources of illumination, and help us shine, share and be seen. When we share our light, our life force, people take notice. Like attracts like. Wealth and prosperity are attracted when we share authentically, dharmically- and when our offerings are connected to our inner light source (jyoti). The next two weeks are a time to share, shine and activate your inner light in bigger and bolder ways. Rise and shine! Make hay while this Sun shines! Themes of love and passion continue today as Moon shifts into the latter half of the fertile Phalguni stars, Uttaraphalguni, at 15:50 PST. Aryaman is the ruling deity of this part of the constellation and he is also one of the twelve Adityas who provides resources like Bhaga does. Aryaman is more concerned with sustaining love, prosperity and resources, through our effort and diligence. Because the Sun rules this nakshatra, there is a connection to light and that which brings us life. The Sun is the ultimate resource for life. Today offers powerful increases to us if we are tapped into the abundant supply of light and love flowing in and around us. Moon shifts into Virgo at 22:37 PST, joining Rahu here. Saturday, February 7th Today's Intention: Fill your plate with the essential ingredients that nourish your life. Moon transits Virgo and into Hasta nakshatra at 18:57 PST and a little more light comes our way through Savitr. Savitr is the bearer of light, the crack of light at dawn that awakens us. Rahu's conjunction with the Moon as it transits through Virgo, distorts the light though; it diffuses it, making the light appear skewed. Like a cloudy day, the Sun light is still there, but we don't see it as brightly because of the clouds. Mars gives drishti to the Moon and makes our efforts to reach towards the light more aggressive, yet it may feel daunting or challenged in some way. Yesterday it felt so easy to expand, flow, and move towards the nourishment. Today, we notice the contrast, the contraction, the titration of the love light. We can't keep expanding, or we will burst! Thus, we are reminded to move towards the essentials today on this day of contraction and effort, Saturn's day. In the smorgasbord of life, we still have to pick and choose what we put on our plate. (Hint: it will be the mental body that brings the contraction! Track it.) Sunday, February 8th Today's Intention: Awaken from your deep slumber. Yesterday's theme persists today and we continue to work with the light, with themes of awakening, trusting the light to show us the way in some new and different ways. Remember the Sun is now in Dhanishta, and the Vasus are here to assist us with increasing our light. Approaching your needs, your issues, your concerns, in a different way will provide useful, as well as your persistence and willingness. There is nourishment to be had today, nourishment from the light within. It will come in filtered doses, as though you are wearing your sunglasses, instead of squinting to see. The filtering can be useful and even help you truly see what you're looking at. Rahu can be that filter today- forcing the issues at hand, while keeping you from fully seeing, simultaneously. It's the mental body, Mercury, that you must delve into and track. Track its movements, its dances with shadow and light. These will be old steps, familiar ground, but there's something you're missing still. Be willing to keep looking within and shining your light into your own darkness. Then you can see what is holding you back. Moon shifts into Chitra nakshatra at 21:55 PST, letting Vishva Karma help us take more intentional action steps. Monday, February 9th Moon transits Chitra nakshatra, and the divine architect, Vishva Karma burst onto the scene. Suddenly action steps appear and we are building our staircase to heaven! Today, necessary action steps are clear, focused, more refined. Get stepping! My Jyotish Basics Classes have begun! Don't miss out on these transformational and healing classes. Sign up for details. We also have Mercury moving into Sagittarius, and Sun right behind him early next week. The stalemate of planets in Scorpio begins to break up, but our focus shifts now to Sagittarius, Jupiter's sign. Moon is waning now. Since we are working with the shift from water (Scorpio) into fire (Sagittarius) this week, diligence with our emotional body work is the name of the game right now! Monday, December 8th Today's Intention: Step out of your comfort zone and be nourished. Moon transits one of Rahu's nakshatras, Ardra, ruled by the powerful force, Rudra. This is a sharp star, one that has a cutting nature and can help us make executive decisions. With Rahu and Rudra behind it, there can be intense shadow involved. Worldly affairs are well suited to this nakshatra, but intense emotional upheaval is also its domain. Moon receives direct gaze from the creative (yet currently disheveled) Venus. With three planets still in Scorpio (the Moon's sign of debilitation) and Venus (water) now in the calamity provoking nakshatra Mula, this is a time to be working directly with our emotional body. Let the flood gates open and tears move out and through you. There may be ample energy used today on confronting parts of ourselves and others that are very challenging to us. Understand that the release and change will be next. Jupiter goes into retrograde motion at 14:11 CST for the next five months. He will be retrograde until April 4th, which brings us a time period of returning, and many reminders of Jupiter's offerings from the past months of his exalted passage through Cancer. His gifts will return, his wisdom, his blatant suggestions of heart nourishment, emotional well-being, and healthy boundary work- but in new, perhaps more intense ways. As with any retrograde planet, he will be acting like the nodes (Rahu and Ketu) and thus will be more dramatic in his nature. Additionally, any exalted planet that goes retrograde becomes debilitated (uccha banga). For many of us, this will be a strong identification phase in order to help us fully change and grow into new awareness and awakening. There may be issues, concerns and situations that occur with heart matters, emotional body, mother, land and vehicles in the coming months as we clean up these parts of our life. Read more about Jupiter's transit through Cancer. Moon shifts into Punarvasu nakshatra at 14:14 CST and a change is ushered in with Aditi and her cosmic resources, as well as a return of the light through the wisdom she provides. Tuesday, December 9th Today's Intention: Open your heart wisdom and let it flow like a river of nourishment. Moon continues to transit Punarvasu and moves into Cancer at 09:39 am CST, joining retrograde Jupiter there. He is now in a debilitation phase (uccha banga) and the Moon will enliven this for us today. We may notice themes coming up today that will illuminate the themes of the next few months, so pay attention and take notes. Moon receives direct gaze from an exalted Mars and Ketu now and this creates a divine intervention from MA, if not anger and rage on the surface. Underneath this is of course divine passion, so see if you can harness these flames and put them to good use without letting them burn you or others in the process. Moon shifts into Pushya nakshatra at 16:06 CST and a stronger sense of nourishment has the opportunity to arrive for us. However, we may experience a pinch first, before the milk begins to flow. Knowledge often comes with a price; the price of awakening. Exalted Mars shifts into Sravana nakshatra at 23:18 CST which is ruled by Vishnu and his expansiveness, and the Moon's tender, creativity. Mars transits through the sacred and spiritually oriented 28th nakshatra, Abhijit, which is positioned in between Uttarashada and Sravana. We will be feeling this resonance leading up to and following Mars's shift into Sravana as a result. Use this time for goal setting, getting your intentions very clear, organized and ask the divine to support you in your endeavors. The coming weeks will offer new levels of productivity, resources and dharmic pursuits for those ready to take our work to the next level. We must be willing and able to hear the messages coming to us in order to receive the support though. Make sure you take ample time to pause, deeply listen and be with your inner wisdom, in order to hear the divine whispering in your ear. Stay open minded to all possibilities at this time. Wednesday, December 10th Today's Intention: When one door closes, another one opens. Moon continues through Pushya nakshatra the majority of the day, enlivening Brihaspati (Jupiter deified) and the planet Saturn. Pushya is the nourishing star, but he does it through balance. Balance requires an evening out of what is lop sided and ultimately not serving us. Thus there is often a pinch when it occurs. Pushya brings us that balance, and the pinch, but is ultimately connected to our deep nourishment. Today is a reminder to trust the balance of life to serve us deeply and to offer us the medicine we need for long term, sustainable nourishment. Today, make embodiment and resourcing the wisdom of the body, a high priority. Moon shifts into Ashlesha nakshatra at 18:28 CST, joining a now retrograde Jupiter in this nakshatra as well. Ashlesha is ruled by Sarpa and the planet Mercury. Sarpa represents our serpent energy, rooted in our mental body essentially, and yet great healing and transformation is possible when we work directly with our mind, in order to overcome its snakey nature. Mercury is currently still transiting Scorpio, which means working with our depths is a priority right now. Thursday, December 11th Today's Intention: Shine your light into your dark corners and look for cobwebs. Moon continues to transit Ashlesha nakshatra the majority of the day and conjuncts retrograde Jupiter as well, which will have a magnifying effect on our mental and emotional bodies. With Jupiter retrograde now (and debilitated), we are being invited deep into our hearts (and mind while Jupiter is still in Ashlesha nakshatra). Use this time for healing, purifying and pulling up mental and emotional weeds. It's important to work with embodiment resources as well, and to stay grounded in the physical body as much as possible. Are you checking in with your three levels of awareness regularly? As Moon jumps into Leo and Magha nakshatra 21:16 CST, we will feel a sudden shift, impacted by Pitr and our ancestors. Moon now receives drishti from exalted Mars and Saturn. Magha is ruled by Ketu, so expect the change to come quickly- through flashes of insight, awareness or through sudden situational changes. There is some old karma working on us right now, so be aware of the work that needs to be done to address old haunts and new awakenings. With drishti of Mars and Saturn on the Moon, we get added heat and pressure on our emotional body which may make for discomfort and a sense of contraction. Pay special attention to your emotional body messages and look for the needs that are under them. Friday, December 12th Today's Intention: From their place in the light, the ancestors are urging you forward. Moon continues to transit through Magha nakshatra today. Yesterday's message of the ancestors pertains to our day. Pitr, and the ancestors are enlivened as we work with ancient karmas. Old pieces, dark matter, and shadow work is a big theme right now. Today we may feel the roots of these dark parts of ourselves very connected to our family paradigm and begin to see them more clearly. Be aware of themes that present themselves and take notes. Mercury is now sandhi, moving to the edge of Scorpio and preparing to shift into Sagittarius. This is an uncomfortable leap from a water sign into a fire sign and the mental body will likely be feeling this "out of the water, into the fire" scenario. A sharpening tenacity is coming, but for now we are still languishing in murky waters. Saturday, December 13th Today's Intention: What is the deepest form of nourishment that you desire? Go there. Moon moves into Purvaphalguni nakshatra just after midnight, enlivening Bhaga and Venus and inviting in fertility, wealth and happiness. However, with the ruling planet Venus, currently in Mula nakshatra, we will likely be feeling our lack, rather than our abundance. Keep this in mind as well as the movement of Mercury into Sagittarius, as he will be sandhi, in the gap through Sunday. Be very diligent with your physical, emotional and mental body check-ins right now in order to strengthen your attention and intention on your needs. Self care is non-negotiable. Moon is being touched by both Mars and Saturn as it transits Leo which adds heat and pressure, as well as a heightened emotional frustration to our experience. I will be starting my self-care challenge tomorrow to offer reminders. Make sure you're on my newsletter list. Mercury jumps into Sagittarius and Mula nakshatra at 03:26 am CST, moving through the very tricky gandanta junction of Scorpio (water) into Sagittarius (fire). The added intensity of this transit is that all planets that move through this gandanta shift from Jyeshtha nakshatra (Indra's domain), into Mula nakshatra (Nirrti's domain). Indra is connected to dharma, strength and the refining of the senses. Nirrti is a disheveled goddess, who brings chaos, calamity and misfortune. She moves us away from dharma through fear, danger and death as well as going against the Laws of Nature. Her husband is Adharma, the god that takes us away from dharma. Mula can be a very spiritual nakshatra- one that pulls up the necessary weeds on our path, in order for us to ultimately see more clearly. This does not come with ease and grace however. Venus has already made this challenging leap, and continues to transit Mula until December 16th. Mercury will be in Mula until the 21st. Sun makes the challenging leap from Scorpio to Sagittarius on the 15th and stays in Mula until the 28th. The intensity of all this change and transformation will climax with the new Moon on winter Solstice, the 21st. This new Moon will occur in Mula nakshatra, heightening the emptiness, the release and the transformation of this time. A massively transformational way to end 2014. As we continue to feel the chain reaction of planets filing into Sagittarius, passing through this challenging gandanta, remind yourself that this is a time of deep uprooting, forced change, crazy making, and chaos. The end result will provide a very different landscape for each of us, but for now, we must continue to till our soil. Through the end of December, be conscious of the many changes occurring within you and around you. Make purposeful intentions for your coming year and ground into the knowing that this too shall pass, and another cycle of growth and renewal will arrive with greater balance. Sunday, December 14th Today's Intention: Pick your fruits, but pick them wisely. Moon moves to Uttaraphalguni at 03:21 am CST, inviting in Aryaman and the Sun into our day. The ancestors are invited into our awareness, as well as nourishment that makes harmony last- especially in our relationships. Dive deep today and seek the pieces you need for contentment, fruitful and nourishing endeavors, as well as what will strengthen the relationship with your self and others. Make self care a priority right now and continue to be alert to what is nourishing you and what is not. This is a time of radical release, so let go of what is not aligned with your deepest needs. As Moon shifts into Virgo at 10:06 am CST, he joins Rahu there and receives gaze from Ketu. Work with your shadows intentionally today. Our emotional body intelligence is moving straight into the shadows for the coming days so be willing to dance with your darkness in more conscious ways at this time. Look for the gifts. I am starting my self-care challenge tomorrow to offer reminders. Make sure you're on my newsletter list. Need some extra guidance and clarity? Schedule a session with me.

Moon is waning this week with two planetary transits happening. Venus moves into Scorpio on Tuesday and the Sun follows on Sunday. This begins our focus on Scorpio in the coming weeks as we work directly with transformation- from the inside out.
Monday, November 10th Today's Intention: Roar like you've never roared before! Moon moves to Ardra nakshatra at 03:58 am CST, inviting in Rudra and Rahu into our day. Moon receives direct gaze from Mars, increasing the emotional intensity available with Ardra. The morning, and our week, start off with a bang! Rudra brings immense power and strength with him and when he combines with the Moon, this can bring immense emotional currents. This is why Ardra is connected to anger and the ferocity that anger offers us. (Anger is like a big wave, not like a ripple on the water.) Anger is an exceptional gift if used properly. When used improperly, it is a mental body dysfunction. When our anger is resourced from our emotional body wisdom, our sensing, it can be used as a tool of activation, motivation and power. It can be a dharmic gift, a 3rd chakra oriented self empowerment tool. How do you find the gift in anger? Look at the needs it is sharing with you. That need can be a huge source of awakening for you. It takes willingness, action steps and courage to go into the depth of your needs and use them as a personal development resource. Your anger can get you there and Rudra can make this happen. Charge forward today and roar loudly! Tuesday, November 11th Today's Intention: Let the depth of MA, wrap you in her arms. Love is the only answer you need. Moon moves into Punarvasu nakshatra at 05:27 am CST, and Aditi steps into our day with an extra level of Jupiter. Aditi brings expanded awareness to us, a universal consciousness, and helps us see the bigger picture in our lives. Through her expansiveness, we learn and grow. Once we get out of the small, isolated focus that often consumes our humanness, we can go beyond the small self, into a larger, grander sense of being. Aditi brings us resources for our expansion- whether it's through knowledge, wealth, or other types of assistance. She is the Mother of all goodness and brings us support when we need it. Think of her like the benevolent mother that we all need. Think of her as your silver lining, the gift within you that is waiting to be opened. What is beyond your struggle, your resistance, your excessive drive and desires? What is the gift hidden in your shadows? What is your true need? Go there and look for the motherly love, the nourishment that is waiting for you like a balm for the heart. Venus moves to Scorpio at 19:14 CST, joining Saturn there. This marks the beginning of several weeks where there will be a stacking of planets in Scorpio. This is a transformational time period, starting with the transformation of our creativity, passion, desires and relationships via Venus. What do you need to pull up from your depths in order to create more lasting change in your life? What needs transcendence in your relationships? What patterns are old, outworn and need to be transformed once and for all? As Venus connects with Saturn here, the ultimate new container is created for our capacity to love and be loved, to create and be intensely creative. What are you creating in your life and how do you want it to look? Dream big, dream deep. Wednesday, November 12th Today's Intention: Your emotional body wisdom is the key to unlock the mystery of your mind. Moon jumps into its own sign Cancer at 00:58 am CST. Moon joins exalted Jupiter here which gives a softness, expansion and knowledgeable connection to the Moon and our emotional body. Both receive drishti from Mars and Ketu, which brings fire and sparks to the emotional body and our learning capacity today. Learn, grow and expand from your felt senses. What can your agitation, annoyances and irritations teach you about your needs? How can you bring a bit more fire into your self awareness, self expansion? As Moon moves into Pushya nakshatra at 07:33 am CST, nourishment becomes our ultimate desire and motivation. Knowledge, wisdom and growth becomes our driving force today as Brihaspati (Jupiter personified) rules over Pushya. He is responsible for helping our good thoughts (devis) win and overcome the bad thoughts (asuras or demons). Our work with light overcoming our darkness is maximized today. Today, dance with your shadows intentionally and look behind the curtain. Let the emotional body and your heart wisdom spark depth and insights for you. Have you done a 3 level check in recently? Pause and check in. Thursday, November 13th Today’s Intention: The mind is a diamond in the rough. Keep polishing it, but don’t get too attached to it. Moon moves into Ashlesha nakshatra at 10:08 am CST, and Sarpa rules our day. Sarpa is a small serpent, connected to Rahu, our shadow self. Ashlesha is also ruled by the planet Mercury, our mental body. It’s a nakshatra where the shadow and our mind merge and co-create. Today, remember to rule your mind, rather than letting your mind rule you. Be a master of your mental body and you will gain access to profound insights and the gems of your existence- from a level of understanding. This is only one level of life, though. The purpose of mastering the mind is so you can lose it. Want a shortcut? Get embodied! Friday, November 14th Today’s Intention: The wisdom of the body holds all the resources you need for awakening. Moon conjuncts Jupiter mid morning, expanding our emotional body capacity; our ability to sense and feel. Use this as a time to tune into your senses and instincts more acutely. With Sun at the edge of Libra, and Saturn still getting accustomed to Scorpio, it’s an ideal time to get embodied and to get gentle somatic guidance. Take your questions into movement exploration and a creative ritual, then listen for your answers to come from your subtle depths. If you haven’t used my creative ritual yet for the waning Moon, this is an ideal time. Venus moves into Anuradha at 11:00 am CST and Mitra helps guide our friendships and relationships now for the coming ten days. Mitra is into fine detail, camaraderie and eloquent speech. He likes kindness, connection and doting on those he loves. Use this time to solidify relationships through the softness of Anuradha. Stay out his critical overly-detail oriented downside. This critical lens is what can close down the heart chakra in our relationships. Zoom out for more heart expansion. It’s a fine time to get detail oriented with the physical body and its needs however. Just don’t get lost in these details. As Moon transitions into Leo and Magha nakshatra at 13:04 CST, an abrupt shift takes place. Moon receives drishti from Saturn, but Magha invites in the deity Pitr and a dash of Ketu for our day. Sparks of imagination, awareness and insight may arrive. Let your body be the tuning fork as you listen for clues and seek pieces of your inner puzzle. Likely you will gain insights about your polarities if you are listening carefully. Your shadow and light. Your willingness and your resistance. Saturday, November 15th Today's Intention: Put down some roots! Dance them into the ground! Magha stays with us the majority of the day and Pitr guides us as well as Ketu. Confidence and courage may be enlivened, or an overdose of ego. Wisdom of flashes of insight may be lurking in the shadows if you're willing to boldly go into your setbacks, disappointments and illusions. Don't let the mind play its tricks on you. When in doubt, ask the ancestors for their assistance. Rahu jumps into Hasta nakshatra at 13:31 CST, and brings us a new opportunity to work with our shadows over the next 8.5 months. Hasta is ruled by Savitr, the god of the dawn. Dawn is neither day, nor night, yet a sacred time of awakening, of beginnings, possibilities. It is vulnerable, yet immensely powerful in this vulnerability. The crack of dawn that Savitr rules is our most potent moment of change, transformation, and realization. With our shadow (Rahu) moving into Savitr's domain for the coming 8.5 months, we enter a sacred and formidable time period that can truly activate and instigate lasting change, from our depths. Working directly with our shadow and allowing it to teach us our greatest needs, yearnings and desires can offer a crucial link for our psycho-spiritual awakening. Our shadow afterall is the gift of our incarnation, our reason for being alive in this body, on the earth plane. If we aren't using our darkness for awakening, we lose our purpose. This life then becomes futile, wasted, and lacks evolutionary depth. This is a powerful cosmic opportunity. Use it. Ask your shadows, your pains, your misery, sadness and heart aches for insights. The shadow can remind you why you are alive, what you have to share with others, what you need out of this one precious life. With courage, you will no doubt harvest some extremely powerful answers as to why you are alive. Use the Gayatri Mantra to assist your awakenings in the coming months. “The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you Don't go back to sleep! You must ask for what you really want. Don't go back to sleep! People are going back and forth across the doorsill where the two worlds touch, The door is round and open Don't go back to sleep!” -Rumi As Moon transitions into Purvaphalguni at 16:06 CST, our creativity and fertility are enlivened. Pull from your depths and use your inner mysteries and questions for dancing, exploring and excavating. What is your biggest question right now? Take it into your dancing, singing, painting and let the answers come. Plant seeds today- for your greatness, for your courage, for your self-empowerment. Let the body be a resource for this anchoring. Let the pelvis help you with this. Sunday, November 16th Today's Intention: Let waves of creativity wash over you and through you. Sun slips into Scorpio at 06:07 am CST, joining Saturn, and Venus there. These three planets receive drishti (gaze) from exalted Jupiter, and Ketu. This transit marks the beginning of a very transformational month for us. One that calls upon us to dig from our depths, to transform our darkness and illuminate our shadows, our vulnerabilities. (See above for more of this theme as Rahu has just moved into Hasta nakshatra). Sun brings the light, but Scorpio represents our depth and our darkness. The degree of our growth and transformation will be based on our willingness, our courage and our actions steps. Step towards your shadow, not away from it, in the coming weeks. Look at the Sun and let the shadow fall behind you. Dance in the light, while watching your shadow self move with you. They are one and the same and inform your movements, steps and transformation. Invite in your whole Self. The majority of our day is connected to Purvaphalguni and Bhaga which connects us to our sensuality, sexuality and relationships. This is a star of fertility, creativity and connectivity. A star of relation and co-creation. Use this energy to inspire activation, to clear and purge stagnant energy- especially that which is stuck in your pelvis, your creative energy center. Let my Creative Ritual for the waning Moon help you with this. Let the pelvis help you with thi Moon moves to Uttaraphalguni at 18:58 CST, and Aryaman steps into our evening with an extra dose of Sun as well. He rules the second half of the Phalguni stars and helps us with sustaining creativity, fertility and co-creation. Aryaman is connected to the ancestors, to lineage and to that which sustains and nourishes in a lasting way; as steady stream of creative intelligence. Need some extra guidance and clarity?
